    10 Pieces of Chefs Selection
    Dylan H.

Ordered delivery. Including tip and fees was 75$ for 10 piece omakase style. Each piece was good on its own but omakase is so commoditized now that 75$ all in was too high a price. I thought I would get some uni or some unique combinations of flavors but they were fairly standard.

Came here for a weeknight dinner! Got the chefs selection for $35 and was so pleased with the fish quality! Really good cuts of fish and tasty rice. Seating inside is maybe max 7 people - so may be tricky if you're coming with a larger group.

My usual place is goal omakase. Lately though, it has been getting absurd. I ordered $90 worth of food for me and my husband and we were still hungry. So, I went to Oyishi, hoping for a better value. The quality of fish at Goal Omakase, I would say is bettter. The fish at Oyishi is still serviceable, probably a small step above the average take-out sushi restaurant. Some of the pieces were sinewy. Some were better than expected. My pet peeve was that they were making the sushi rice on the floor. I know there is very little space in Manhattan, so I understand. But there was some room up in the front they could do it. They literally put a giant metal bowl on the floor in front of the bathroom and start mixing in the vinegar, etc. I don't know if I can return, just because of that.

    Nigiri and Roll Chef's Selection

Stumbled upon this spot while in the neighborhood and decided to give it a try. Oyishi Sushi did not disappoint! It's tucked away in a lower-level (couple of stairs below street level), super cute inside with a cozy vibe. You can order in person or through the QR code posted outside (seems like they prefer the QR for takeout orders). The staff were so sweet when we picked up our food, and service was quick. The sushi itself was some of the best I've had in a long time; the fish was fresh and high quality, and the rice was perfectly seasoned. Definitely a spot I'll be coming back to.

OH MY GOODNESS. BEST SALMON EVER. We've been to many omakases and sushi places in NY and NJ, but this one honestly takes the cake - at least for "bang for your buck" and fish quality. I got a Nigiri Deluxe (chef's choice of 12 nigiri pieces) and the quality and taste was absolutely incredible made sweeter by the super affordable cost of $35!! Favorite pieces on my plate were salmon and torches sea bass, but everything was delicious. My husband loved his maki rolls so much that he bought a second salmon avocado roll! The owner and staff are literally the sweetest and most hospitable people, and even though the seating is limited (I think there were only 6 seats inside and 1 table for 2 outside), it's even worth ordering takeout to not miss out on the deliciousness. The owner even put out free watermelon for patrons to eat! There's also a free water dispenser with a tray of green tea bags next to it so you can steep your own green tea. Honestly, my husband and I came here for the first time last weekend and haven't shut up about it. Run don't walk here if you love amazing sushi!

Chef's Selection (Nigiri & Roll) ($35) Spicy Scallop Roll ($11) Moshi Passion Fruit Sparking Oolong Tea ($5)

Try: Chef's Selection, Spicy Scallop Roll, and a Moshi Drink! Why: I got the Chef's Selection (Nigiri & Roll) and Spicy Scallop Roll and I thought it was fresh. Nigiri was almost melt in your mouth deliciousness. The fish slices were big. I was hoping for toppings like roe on top of nigiri like the photos and description on website. That would have added additional flavor and texture. The roll in my Chef's Selection was a Spicy Tuna Roll, which was good and had a good amount of tuna and tempura flakes for added crunch. I appreciate they didn't use too much rice in the rolls so the entire meal was a perfect satisfying amount for one person. I originally ordered an Apple Moshi but when I arrived it was not available so I tried the Passion Fruit - refreshing sparking tea. Notes: Cute new (opened 2 months) sushi spot great for takeout on the UES. Small shop with a few seats inside. Simple menu with omakase, rolls, nigiri, appetizers, and drinks. Worker was welcoming and had my order ready when I arrived. I plan on coming back to try more omakase takeout. Also, I saw on the menu they had wagyu beef with caviar truffle sauce that looks and sounds yum!

This is the Nigiri deluxe from Oyishi on the UES. 10 pieces $42. Good variety although there is a decent amount of white fish you do get two amazing pieces of salmon, scallop, toro, squid, yellowtail. These pieces in the box don't look big but they were actually quite large. Great fish to rice ratio. Rice was room temp and well seasoned. This also had lime zest on most of the pieces which I'm not sure I've had before but it was nice gave some brightness. For $42 this is a fantastic deal.

Pretty solid takeout sushi. Got the chefs selection and the amount of fish they give you is definitely bigger than normal. Really solid

This place is great, from the beginning owner offered me a fresh fruit and it was so tasty and then he shared with me some sushi which was on the restraunt, and finally i got my Toro sushi and Blue Fin Tina and it was one of the most fresh fish i ate in NYC! Highly recommend, only positive and tasty experience! P.s. prices is so low!

Hands down the best sushi I've ever had. Every piece was melt-in-your-mouth delicious, and the quality was just unmatched. On top of that, the staff treated me and my two kids like absolute royalty. The energy in the restaurant was so warm and welcoming. The chef even surprised us with a few off-menu specials, just for us, and didn't charge a thing. That kind of thoughtfulness and generosity is so rare, and it made an already incredible experience truly unforgettable. This place is a gem. Beautiful food, genuine hospitality, and a vibe that makes you want to come back again and again. If you're lucky enough to snag a seat, do it!

Ordered takeout, the fish was extremely fresh and delicious, amazing value and I will definitely be back!

I walked in here and Jim, the owner, was extremely welcoming. He offered me a free AMAZING piece of nigiri with fois gras, truffle, caviar, and lime zest and it was delicious!!!! Truly, better than extremely expensive omakase I've had before. The quality is insane and the price is very reasonable for the food and service. The restaurant itself is very clean and modern with a few seats to eat at a table or the bar. Jim told me that he owns Umami Sushi in Ardsley for many years, so he's extremely experienced. Oyishi is my new go to spot!!!

The atmosphere here was a bit more lively and crowded compared to the more relaxed vibe of the UWS spot. I enjoyed my meal even more this time around. I started with the beet salad, which was delicious and offered great value given the generous portion size. it featured sliced beets, arugula, goat cheese, and walnuts. I also had my eye on the hijiki soybean salad--which is a bit smaller and reportedly homemade--so I may try that next time, along with the warm mushroom salad which looked very tasty. The edamame was standard but served as a nice starter. For my main rolls, I chose the salmon avocado and the yellowtail scallion. Both were very fresh and definitely worth ordering again. The salmon avocado roll had a nice touch of sesame seeds on the rice, while the yellowtail scallion was prepared with the seaweed on the outside. My boyfriend's sushi entree looked excellent, so I am considering that or the sushi-sashimi combo for my next visit. The entrees provide a substantial amount of food, and I especially appreciate that they allow you to choose which roll comes with your meal.

To be honest, I was getting a little nauseated after 5 pieces, haha~ They were definitely delicious but I'd probably just eat 3 or 4 pieces and share with a friend! It was easy to text the number on the website and coordinate a pickup time, and the staff was friendly when I arrived. The katsu was very, very moist on the inside, with a crispy batter that was so light it was almost flavorless. I honestly couldn't really tell the difference between the tenderloin and pork loin. Overall the dish had a very light flavor and I added quite a bit of sauce and wasabi. Some of the less memorable dishes were the eggplant agebitashi and truffle rice. The eggplant agebitashi tasted like a cross between an eggplant parm and a bolognese. The truffle rice had a very strong truffle flavor that ended up overpowering everything else in the dish. I thought the slices of raw button mushrooms were a little strange. I really enjoyed the sabazushi. The pieces of mackerel were thick and carried a lot of that characteristic mackerel oily flavor, but the oiliness was cut by enough vinegar to balance everything out. The niku udon was also a surprise hit. The noodles were wide, flat, super slurpy, and the broth carried a deep umami flavor. Overall, I had a pretty solid experience here.
