I used to get my hair cut by Heeya when she worked at Muse Beauty Salon. Five months goes by and I call Muse to make an appointment and they told me she was no longer working there. I booked anyway since I needed a trim. My last two trims turned into hair cuts which I hated. I did some research through Yelp and her salon popped up. I stopped in to see if it was the same Heeya that cut my hair at Muse. To my surprise it was her and she had an opening for me. She offered me a beverage and started working on my hair. I would give it a ZERO star if there was such an option. The stylist here is absolutely awful. I told her specifically how I wanted the hair done. She didn't listen to me, cut it the way she wanted to, then said, "you look like Japanese now. I did a shag cut." I look horrible in a shag cut and hate that hair style. When I told her why she did that when I specifically told her just to trim it, her response was unbelievable. She said, "then why do you come to a hair salon." That's my call, not her call. All she needs to do is cut it the way I want her to, not cut it the way she wants to. I can't even put my hair down now. I'll have it pulled back until it grows out. MISTAKE!!!! Was looking for a place to get my hair trimmed after moving to San Diego. Most places I looked at seemed to need an appointment, which may have not worked too well with my schedule. That's one of the nice things about this place - no appointment necessary! One of the better/best places I've been to, to be honest, and lives up to reviews! The trim was pretty quick, and they ask you if you want certain parts trimmed/cut more or not! *They do wash your hair before cutting it (at least for me they did)! *Gives advice on hair care! - slight usage of wax in my case. I think hair stylist here are nice and humorous make you feel happy. And the price here especially for Perm and dying are cheap. She cuts very good,however, I don't think they are good at perms. My mother in law and I came here for the grand opening and it was really nice inside, it was super clean and the women greeted me as soon as I stepped inside. We had made an appointment beforehand, but there was also a sign saying walk-ins were welcome. I had initially thought that I would get ash/gray balayage however they said the price would be 300 and while I'm sure they would have done fantastic that is steeper than other salons that specialize in color. I decided just to get a cut, my hair was long, I hadn't actually cut more than a few inches off in years. I decided I wanted to change it up and I got about 6 inches off.. I was nervous but excited and super surprised when she had finished. I love my hair!!! All the dead and broken ends are gone, my hair is super soft and the layers are beautiful. She also made these soft bouncy curls in my hair with a blow dryer and a really thin round brush. The cut was 45 but completely worth it. My mother in law's hair was really nice as well. She got her hair colored a red copper color fading up into her natural hair color and it looks really good. The prices are a little high for color but the products are high quality and less harsh on the hair than other salons. The women there are very professional and provide good service and keep their salon clean. That being said the salon is also a little hidden and parking may be difficult to find based on the time of day. read more

Heeya is the best! She colored and layered my hair and she did an amazing job! I asked for light brown color and layers in my hair. I am very picky when it comes to my hair so I was worried it might turn out too light (which doesn't suit me) but she listened to my request and made it turn out the way I wanted! Also she layered my hair to fit my face shape and it's very easy to style. Heeya is very professional and will listen to your request and make adjustments. Heeya is awesome! I go to UCSB so I get my hair cut with her every time I come back for break. She's always so nice to me and cuts my hair perfectly every single time. Very aware of my needs and I have never seen anyone with hands as good as hers. Somehow keeps an entire funny conversation going with while she's going at it! Since I have a lot of hair I have never seen anyone cut my hair as fast either! Sweet lady and very talented! Also, she noticed me parking in the street once and had me park in the back where there's always been parking. Given that my hair was short at the time, they cut it so that it can grow out into that style. I needed the cut for a special event so they showed me how to style it for a formal event and for casual. Very fast, friendly, professional, and most importantly informative. I got my Haircut later in the day, meaning I was the only customer there, so I got my Haircut by Heeya with two other stylist watching as assistants/giving their own input. They gave me suggestions on how I should take care of my scalp and style my hair. They took care of me with great expertise. Now onto a couple things about Heeya. The first thing about Heeya is she cuts hair like a chef cooks their food, your preferences will be acknowledged but she will have her own input which leads people who want an exact cookie cutter haircut to become disappointed. I on the other hand feel like that's a wonderful trait to have in a stylist as I don't know much about hair styles and appreciate an expert opinion. Another thing about Heeya is that she doesn't speak much English, she'll speak to one of her assistants who translates, so unless you know Korean there will be a few things lost in translation but she is kind with good intentions nonetheless.
