I was so glad to find this little Filipino bakery with home cooked dishes, and all the baked goods you might be looking for. I especially like this location because it's away from the commotion of the other crowded Pinoy plazas in WesCov. They not only have fresh food here but a wide selection of snacks, that if you grew up in a Filipino home, will bring you back to your childhood. My kids were happy to enjoy a box of bibinka and a nice delicious cup of halo halo. I definitely recommend coming here for that home style taste. The best part is a nice lola preparing the food in the back.

These 5 stars are not just because the Turons are so delicious but the people there are so kind .

Kalahi Bakery is a must stop spot if you're craving Filipino baked goods. The store is tucked into a very small plaza, but since orders are made to go everyone is in and out. While passing through SoCal, my family always makes sure to grab a tray of empanadas to have as baon at work for the week. Among their savory foods, there's plenty of sweets like pastillas, crinkle cookies, and polvoron. The thing that really brings us in here every time is their turon. It's crispy and crunchy on the outside with soft and sweet banana and jackfruit on the inside.

We always like the Filipino Turon (Banana spring rolls), their turon are so tasty and crispy. We bought 24 pieces of turon today, each one costs $1.25. We also purchased the Ube Pandesal (purple yam bread rolls), which are moist and delicious. We placed the order in the morning but picked it up a bit earlier than our pick-up time. We waited for 10 minutes to pick up our turon. The place is small and outdated but we like their turon.

A small mom and pop for Filipino goodies! Located in small corner shopping plaza, you can find all sorts of snacks, meal items and desserts. I don't have much experience eating Filipino food, so I bought a bunch of things that I never tried before, because I was feeling adventurous (and was talked into it by the other customers and the employee who highly recommended some of the items. Hahaha) Honestly it feels like you're talking to family here, everyone is so nice. All the homemade signs and Knick knacks in the shop gave me the vibes of being at my parentshouse. Kind of messy, but homey. Everything tasted fresh and homemade, and I enjoyed everything I got (especially the Turon!), however my family didn't like the diuguan (pork stew) because it was too sour for their personal taste.

Kahali makes the best turon in West Covina! They are truly an institution, according to my friends and family who live in the area. They have a nostalgic cozy space with an extensive selection of kakanin (Filipino rice cakes), snacks, breads and other desserts. It reminds me of a panaderia combined into a sari-sari store. For a family event, my cousin and I ordered 2 dozen turon. I placed the order in advance via phone. Upon pick up at 11:30AM, I did not expect the turon to be fresh and piping warm from the fryer. The lady behind the counter has a great sense of humor, which made their service swift and homey. For two dozen, it is reasonably priced at $30. Cash is highly recommended since they do charge a percentage for credit/debit card transactions. Kalahi is my go-to spot for turon and other traditional Filipino desserts in West Covina!

Buko pandan in a small container for $4.25. Pretty pricey for such a small size. It fulfilled my craving and was yummy. ;)

Have been back here several times to order Turon (banana and jackfruit, wrapped like an eggroll and fried) for family parties. They're $1.25 each. I remember when they were only 50 cents each back in the 90's. Sigh... oh well. They're delicious and worth it. I was craving buko pandan (coconut gelatin dessert) today and came in for some. There was a line, and a little crowded, but it moved pretty quickly. There was only one person working the front (Lisa) and she was very patient and friendly.

I placed an order by phone on Friday and specifically confirmed the price for turon per piece. I spoke with Jenny, who quoted $1.45 each with no tax, and I placed an order for 55 pieces to be picked up on Sunday at 2:00 PM. When I arrived at the promised pickup time, I was made to wait more than 15 minutes before being assisted. I was then told the price was now $1.50 per piece. I tried to explain that I ordered with the expectation of the confirmed Friday price, but Alme or Aime or Amy (she said shw is the cashier) was very rude, defensive, and dismissive, and was playing on her phone while talking to me. I was told the owner changed the price on Saturday and would not honor my original order. If this order had not been for a company party, I would have canceled it and would not return. This is not about the money, but about the lack of professionalism and poor customer service, which was very disappointing. They made me wait 30 mins before the turon ready. Will never go back to this shop anymore.

Definitely prices had gone up since my last visit. Have a variety of filipino baked goods and sweets: Pastillas Turon Hopia Sapin-sapin Bibingka Empanadas Dinuguan Lugaw Chicharon and many more Fast service and friendly staff Store is a hole in the wall where its location is not so visible from the main street. Store's ambience is friendly but limited space for customers to line up.

My to go place for Filipino fried banana (turon). It's basically banana and slice jackfruit rolled in a spring roll wrapper and caramelized with outside. They are always hot and fresh. You can order in a big batch as well on the spot. The service is fast. They also sell other Filipino snacks in the store. But their Turon definitely the best!!

Interesting small mom and pop hole-in-the-wall Filipino bakery that I wouldn't have thought of stepping in if I didn't happen to be buying take out from next door. Saw customers frequent the bakery all the time while waiting for my takeout from next door so I popped in to take a look. Very unattractive interior with dry packaged food cluttering up 70% of the visual space. The remaining 20% is on the counter behind a clear shield with a few unattractive bakery goods and the remaining 10% is a small area with photos and words of other stuff they offered. I asked a customer what she likes here and she says everything is good and especially pointed out the empanadas ( not even displayed or out on the counter). After questioning the clerk on what everything is, I decided to risk it and ordered a couple of items. Everything I tried here was good. And l've been popping in almost weekly to see what they have on sale for the day. Offerings varies each and every time I've visited. But my all-time favorites/regular items I get are their empanadas (large and small sizes available- not heavy, oily or dry unlike other places, very addicting yet unassuming) and their sweet rice or cassava wrapped in leaves (I don't know what it's called but they are wrapped in leaves). I'm always back here to adventure for something new and never disappoints. No wonder they have a regular stream of Filipino customers who quickly come in and out, ordering what they know and want with ease.

My foodie friend introduced me to this place, and I'm already hooked on this place. As you walk through the doors of Kalahi Bakery, you will see a wide array of Filipino pastries, snacks, and more. You really get the small business, mom-and-pop shop feel of this place, which is wonderful. One of their best, well-known, must-get items is their Turon ! On first bite, your mouth will echo with the transcendent crunch as you break through the delicate, caramelized shell of their glazed, fried lumpia wrapper. Next you are introduced to the sweet core of the banana inside. Finally, all this sweetness is tamed by the tropical tinge of the jackfruit. After trying this bakery's "banana lumpia," there is a dangerous temptation to buy a bagful and snack on it all in a single sitting. I'll be visiting again for more of this item!

So far I tried Black Sesame Chiffon Cake, Hojicha Cold Foam Milk, Coco Hojicha Cloud, and Wintermelon Lemonade. Black Sesame Chiffon Cake was excellent. Nice spongy texture with good amount of black sesame flavor. Hojicha Cold Foam Milk was good but thought it could've been little bit sweeter. Coco Hojicha Cloud was pretty good. The hojicha cream had good amount of sweetness and balanced well with the coconut water. Wintermelon Lemonade was refreshing although a bit sweeter than I expected. Overall I like this place, but not sure why Aroma Craft felt a need to open a place just for desserts & tea when its original location is just few doors down and already offers great desserts and drinks. I think it could've just expanded its dessert menu instead of opening this location. I rarely see any customers here, so hope it doesn't go out of business.

I went with my girlfriend on a regular Tuesday, there was no line and the wait for the food was about 15 minutes. The seats are kind of sketchy, they feel like they bend when you sit on them, but the place is otherwise clean. I was excited about this place but the food is really mediocre. It is nutritionally adequate (has some veggies and protein), but its flavor is seriously lacking. We both had the meat lovers crepe and I was waiting for the flavor to come together but none of the ingredients really worked well with one another. Really salty bits of bacon and spam with surprisingly bitter lettuce and a sauce that lacked any power to cut through the fat. I personally think this place is really missing a pork belly or beef slice protein option for savory flavor with less salt. The savory sauce is also lacking, something sweet like hoisin sauce might help a lot. The signature noodles are also a total ripoff, I expected at least some toppings for a whopping $8, but it was just some noodles with a couple green onions tossed on top. The sauce wasn't even that impressive, it tasted like sesame oil and soy sauce, and not even the good seasoning soy sauce. Very disappointed with the noodles for $8. At the end of the day, the only reason I would go here is because of the nostalgia of a Chinese crepe meal, but it fell below expectations. It didn't taste the worst, but for how unhealthy the meal is, it doesn't hit like a good old burger or some curry with naan.
