What an amazing surprise after a skydiving in Perris we were looking for a great meal. We could not find a good restaurant in Paris so we decide to drive to Riverside search in yelp see what was a best option and we found Kalaveras when we arrive. We saw the name change to Mariposa, but we wanna give it a tried , what a great surprise our Server Andres meet us in the door. Quickly took us to a VIP table. He explain the menu and did recommendations we try: the guacamole was amazing the corn really tasty and sweet for my main course. I try the shrimp enchiladas the best I ever had All the drinks were recommended by my Server. He did not disappointed I end up having five drinks, including my birthday drink shout out for Andres one of the best experience with service 10/10 . Thank you again. For a such a good dinner and a great experience for my birthday . See you guys soon

Kalaveras was pretty packed for a weekday lunch that wasn't their taco Tuesday special promotion. The interior is a loud but large dining area with interesting design, but overall had a lively atmosphere. We were waiting to order for about 15 minutes, but it was a busy day, so it made sense for the wait times. We got some water and eventually ordered our food. The carnitas and chicken tacos were good, but not what I would go out of my way for. The sweet potato fries were fine and had a sweetness to contrast with the salty. I would have to call ahead to pick up food for my next visit 30 minutes beforehand in the future, but maybe when I'm in the mood, I'll grab some food from here.

Today's visit here was in celebration of my son's birthday. The lovely Itzel was absolutely amazing in her service after a few drinks and just enjoying celebrating the food and drinks she was so thoughtful to gather the staff on shift and they all sang happy birthday .. I have visited two other locations and this Kalaveras is my third location. You must visit please be sure to check in with Itzel.

The Kalaveras brand has been expanding like crazy lately so I was interested to see what the hype was about. Once you walk in you're hit in the face with loud music. They're definitely going for the party vibe here. The space is pretty large and the walls are lined with booths that look down on everything. Thinking the emphasis would be on cocktails, I didn't have the highest expectations for the food. Thankfully I was completely wrong. I've only had the wet burrito and the Kali Burrito and they were both incredibly tasty. Not skimpy with the ingredients and full of flavor. The Kali Burrito nets you a side of black beans and some plantains. I really recommend that! Service has always been friendly, even when my dumb azz had to go back the next day because I left my credit card there....and looking at their box of credit cards left there I am FAR from the only one. This particular building on Spruce seems to be cursed as it's been a few different things already. Hopefully Kalaveras sticks. The vibe is pretty cool, the service is good and most importantly the food is excellent. Maybe not for everyone but give it a chance! Definitely recommended!

Made a reservation and was sat quickly. Loud environment with a vibrant energy of Latin music which is fun. A waiter brought us chips and salsa and took our drink order. Our drinks came out a little while after and we order guac to accompany the chips. When they brought out the chips and guac we started to eat it, but then realized the basket of chips had a bundle of lint/hair hanging off/in it. When we told a food runner he just said "oh" and then took the chips. (Wtf) After we ordered our food it all came out at random about a couple minutes apart versus all together. The burrito I had was more rice than meats or beans, and it didn't come customized how I asked for it. Finally after asking for the check it took around 20 minutes to get it sorted and pay for our meal. They also have a service charge added as a tip which is fine if the service was actually good. TLDR; THE FOOD IS OVERPRICED AND THE SERVICE IS TRASH. AVOID THIS PLACE UNLESS YOU WANT TO WASTE YOUR MONEY ON MEDIOCRE FOOD AND A LONG WAIT WITH SERVICE CHARGE.

I ordered the wrong thing here :( We came here for lunch on a week day and it was still a colorful fun atmosphere. Each eating area is colorfully decorated and there are screens through with music videos playing. I lost count of how many Bad Bunny videos played and we were happy! Service was slow at first, it seemed to take too long for someone to come by and take our drink order. But this was my first mistake. I went with a classic michelada. It was ok, just kind of boring compared to my husband's margarita flight. The flight came with four half size margaritas: jamaica, classic, mango and a spicier one. They were beautifully presented and tasted yummy. My next mistake was ordering the pepita salad. It was ok but again boring. I especially didn't care for the creamy dressing - it would have been much better with a vinaigrette or even just the salsa on the table with a squeeze of lime. Sometimes I need to not go with the healthy option and get what I really want. I should have ordered the enchiladas or taquitos - both were much tastier. My girls loved their quesabirria tacos and our daughter in law's sushi roll was gigantic and flavorful, she loved it. My husband ordered the taquitos and shared with me :) Service was friendly, and once our drink orders were taken, attentive. I would definitely come back here especially at night when I will bet it's more of a club like atmosphere- but still a family friendly restaurant.

Finally, been trying to make it here for months! I heard it got crowded so I decided to make a 6:30pm reservation. I arrived and we were seated right away. Upon walk-in it was dark and loud. They play music videos for music. We were seated in the bar, which was ok. I looked at the menu and once the waitress arrived I ordered the Margarita flight and 2 chicken tacos. My drinks arrived and they were all different and delicious. Got me a little buzz. The chicken tacos were pretty big and delicious. My only complaint is being charged $1.99 for onions and cilantro. I think it's petty for a restaurant to charge for things like that. But all in all it was a nice night.

Stopped by while traveling through Riverside. Service was so friendly and attentive. Cool decor with skulls and art everywhere. We arrived just as the Sunday brunch buffet was ending but ordered off the regular menu. The buffet looked so good! We got fish tacos and carnitas tacos, both very simple but sooooo good! Tortillas tasted fresh made and melted in my mouth. Fish and carnitas cooked to perfection. Just bummed we don't live closer to come back. Just what we were looking for. Thank you!

Do not come here if you want to chat with friends. Music was ridiculously loud. Service from our waitress was great. Food on the other hand was just not it. Ordered the dragon roll. The entire roll was extremely greasy. Individual rolls fell apart, too spicy too eat. One roll, one miche, one agua fresca and one shot $70 (with gratuity added)

First time trying this place out, was a part of a larger group for a friend's birthday. It's a pretty cool vibe when you get inside: had no problem accommodating a party of 10-12. Music was good too. Interesting mix of Spanish music with some random Wknd songs sprinkled in. It was cool though, if there was a dance floor, I'm sure people would've been using it. Brunch meal prices are pretty moderate. However, I Paid $15.00 for a michelada which is probably the most I've ever paid for a michelada. It was also smaller than any michelada I've ever ordered anywhere. I was shocked that one beer with Clamato and tajin cost just as much as my actual meal. For my meal, I ordered the Chorizo & scrambled eggs with rice & beans with a side of French toast. Here's where my experience kind of went sideways.. my whole table got their meals and my server recognized I didn't have food for probably 15 minutes. Once she took notice, it literally took a couple minutes for it to come out so either she just didn't grab it or she never entered in my order. The food was good once I got it, The French toast was really good and the chorizo was pretty good as well. After i spent some time justifying a $15.00 Michelada, I decided I wanted a mimosa. They don't make single mimosas, they give you a bottle of sparkling wine with little glasses of different juices. All for $35.00. Fine... I placed an order or it and...I got nothing. The server came by the table at least 5 times after I ordered bottle and never noticed that I didn't have it. I chose to not remind her because I figured if she remembered, I get my drinks and if she forgets, I save $35.00. Fast forward to everyone closing tabs- our server definitely remembered to bill me for the mimosas even though I never got them. I'm not sure if she was new or what but she definitely forgot about my meal and drink order completely. Figuring the tab was also a nightmare. She used a hand held device to take the order and could print out receipts right there but decided to put the entire order on one receipt. I get why but also... just separate the bill. Anyway, my group chilled at the table to talk for a bit so I figured I might as well order a drink while I sat there. I walked to their bar since it was just one drink and we were already closed out. Despite the fact that they had an actual bar with all the alcohol in the world, they told me they couldn't take a drink order from me because they "don't have an actual bar top." Okay cool. I guess the actual bar top I'm standing at with a bartender and a computer don't count as a bar top. I track down the girl who'd been helping our group and asked if she could charge me real quick for a Paloma. Other people in our group didn't have the best experience and probably weren't going to tip her well. I figured I'd order the drink and give her a good tip myself. She was really nice but her execution as a server was very off. Anyway, i asked for the drink and she seemed to completely forget who I was because , I kid you not, she told me to "just ask your server and they can help you." So not only did she forget about my meal and drink orders, I think she forgot she was helping me altogether for the last hour or two. Anyways, I pointed to where I was sitting (hoping to remind her) and asked if she could ring in the drink right there and close me out. She said it was fine and walked away. I assumed it was to get her little order taking device. Nope. She vanished into the void.. again. Once I saw her walk into the kitchen I knew I wasn't getting the drink. Because of her forgetfulness, I saved like $50-60 between the mimosa flight and the Paloma. Silver linings, I guess. I for sure won't be going back to this place. I know it's a new restaurant so hopefully they smooth things out. Either way, I'll just hit up places I'm used to that are closer in Downtown Riverside. read more

It's my second time coming to this restaurant and never did I thought I would encounter the worst customer service from a manger.. a MANAGER !!! I would expect it from employees but the employees were 10/10 always providing the best during my visit. I came on a Friday night (8/5/2022) to have a few drinks with my s/o we order what we wanted (keep in mind it was the most slowest Friday of the week no wait what so ever) around 12:40am the manager was already kicking guest out of the restaurant and ordering them to finish their drink in a rudely manner. What kind of shit is that ? Or better yet ! what kind of customer service is he providing for the business ? From all other restaurants I've visited never did I have this type of treatment from a manger. If you're going to kick customers out an hour before your ACTUAL closing time then update your hours online. I surely won't be coming back to this restaurant AT LEAST this location. If you don't want to be kicked out an HOUR before closing and actually want to enjoy your drinks don't come here save your time. The manager that was on duty this night was juan Carlos . read more

I've been excited to try this place out since it is very close to my workplace, and Rancho Cucamonga does not have many good Mexican Restaurants. My first impression walking in the door - gloomy and too dark. They took out the cozy booths, and it reminds me of cafeteria style. A colleague and I went for lunch at my request to have a meeting. The music was so loud in the entire restaurant that it made it impossible. We went late, around 1:00pm and were seated in the bar area. I don't know why as the restaurant was pretty empty. Service was very slow. I ordered a salad with salmon. The salmon came seared, raw on the inside. It did not mention that on the menu,so I could ask for it to be cooked through. I never return anything to kitchens as I know things happen in there that we don't want to know- lol. Anyway, I will try it one more time. I want to support local family owned business's - and it is so close to my workplace - so if you own this restaurant, please reach out. I want you to succeed. And maybe I'm an oddball - but it's getting so difficult to find a restaurant where you can conduct meetings without shouting over loud music. Even for a date - I wouldn't want to be shouting over the table at my date! I do want to try out more on the menu as it looked really good. read more

Their Mojarra for one, is amazing with some corn tortillas, beans and rice, and lettuce. The lime garlicky sauce on that one, is what I've been dreaming of. It was THE star of the show. And we also got their wet supreme burrito mojado, with the mole sauce all over it Also tried their agua fresca, loved the cucumber and lime flavor! Great size for two to share, and we had a blast just eating and enjoying the sights laid out to see. Their pickled onions got a spicy kick to it! I loved the added crunch instead of just having the typical hot salsa. Service was great, with the waiters and waitresses checking in on us every now and then, and I liked that we pay first then eat, so we just leave after we're done! Excellent experience as the weather was perfect too, the outdoor seating has some mosquitoes but be sure to go when it's not molting hot outside! After food we got to go on a photo spree and it was wonderful.

I do wish there was a vegan protein thrown in like black beans or soyrizo or something to make it more filling but I'm glad there was a vegan option on the menu. There is a salsa bar that can help add to your meal like spicy pickled carrots, cucumbers, salsa and pickled onions. My favorite part of this place is the art decor. They're all made from materials that were bound to go in the trash, most notably cans that they open for cooking. So you'll see lids and the other material from cans beautifully molded into these structures. It may seem random but I found lots of humor and play thrown into the craftsmanship of it all. Some pieces are like playing I Spy. It was funner to see than a lot of museums I've gone to actually. It's truly just packed with art. I even got to meet one of the artists as he was working on something. He was really friendly. There's a few of them who work on them together and I learned they've been doing this since the 90's! How cool. It's so nice to see all the things they've come up with to create. Go check it out! Definitely a date worthy spot too. My bf and I had a lot of fun walking around seeing what they created.

Beautiful decor, upscale vibes, moody lighting, and every corner feels intentionally designed. It's definitely a place that looks like it's about to deliver an incredible dining experience. Unfortunately, the food just didn't match the atmosphere. The crab cakes were decent, about a 6/10. You get two larger cakes, but they were a little bland on their own. The jalapeño aioli carried most of the flavor, but even as someone who loves spice, it leaned overly spicy. The wedge salad was surprisingly disappointing. The lettuce wasn't very crisp, and they added ham on top of the bacon, which felt unnecessary and honestly gave the dish a cheaper feel. We ended up removing the ham altogether. The fish tacos had nicely cooked fish, but again, lacked seasoning. They also came with more jalapeño aioli, and the portions felt awkward. The fish pieces were huge compared to the tiny tortillas, so eating them turned into a full taco explosion situation. The biggest letdown was the chimichurri sea bass. For a $52 entrée, we expected much better. The fish came out completely overcooked and dense like a brick, which was extra disappointing because the chimichurri sauce and mashed potatoes were actually delicious. On the bright side, the drinks were fantastic. Refreshing, flavorful, and probably the highlight of the meal. Service at the bar was also great across the board. Everyone was attentive, friendly, and welcoming throughout the night. This place truly has so much potential because the ambiance and service are already there. We really wanted to love the food as much as we loved the vibe, but unfortunately it just didn't wow us this time around.

One thing to note is that it doesn't come with fries but you do get a sizable three tenders instead of two that you'd get at other places so it's a fair trade off. Tenders were really good! Flavorful and super juicy. Medium was perfect for me as it packed a punch without being too spicy. I think I've gotten their brisket on other occasions which was solid as well. This is a good spot to dine in canyon crest plaza, one of my favorite plazas in the city. Can't go wrong here!

Wow!! Where do I start . I was driving looking for something to eat and let me tell you I came across Kalaveras and I'm so Happy we came in. We immediately got seated and and greeted by Isacc and his attention to detail is by far superior. My daughter came in and had brought her doll with her to the restaurant. Isacc brought her doll a high chair WOW !!! My daughter face immediately glowed ! She was so Happy . Wow now that is service not only that a few minutes later the chef Cornelio made her doll a custom mini taco for her doll!!! Once again I'm super IMPRESSED !! Food was amazing !!! Our server David was also super nice and attentive. He made great recommendations! We had ceviche and aguachiles and both were so tasty !! I totally recommend it . He also told us all drinks are made from scratch and let me tell you THEY ARE !! You can definitely taste the quality of ingredients! BEST DRINKS IN RIVERSIDE ! Decided to go to my favorite Mexican spot on Friday night in Riverside HOWEVER it had been some time since i had visited and I arrived only to find out the Restaurant had been completely changed, But that was not going to stop me The new feel to this establishment is HIGH ENERGY the decor and theme of Skulls (Calavaras with a K) gave a Dia De Los Muertos Vibe the Music was pumped up and the Servers were on point. Now the food. I ordered the Dragon Roll which I did not have high hopes for until It entered my mouth cause OMG that was Amazing the spicy mayo was perfect and it was Huge!!! I also ordered the Rizo (soy protien) Taco and aside from being greasy which is expected it was perfect. I will definitely be back. Only downside was the servers were spread thin so we did not see them too often, but when they were there they were ON POINT!!!! Kalaveras is a really cool place, located on a strip mall with easy access and plenty of parking available. We were greeted and seated as soon as we walked in, the ambiance is really picturesque very "Day of the Dead", it has many good spots to take pictures. The service is great, everyone is really nice and attentive. And they go the extra mile to accommodate the menu to your preferences. I went on a Tuesday 2 hours too early for Taco Tuesday. To drink we had beer and margaritas, first strawberries and cream (meh) and mango (yummy!). To eat we had tacos, they were delicious. Too bad the mushrooms taco was spicy, I couldn't have it because I'm allergic. Bottom line I like this place, they have different specials different days of the week, plus taco Tuesday. Kalaveras in Riverside presents itself as a hip Mexican food spot, but unfortunately, the execution fell short during my visit. While the portions were generous and the drinks impressive, the overall taste and quality of the food were below average. The tacos, a staple of Mexican cuisine, arrived soggy and lacking in flavor. Despite the food being edible, it failed to meet the expected standards. Additionally, the pricing was higher than anticipated, which added to the disappointment. Despite the shortcomings in the food, the drinks were a standout. However, a good drink alone is not enough to make up for the lackluster dining experience. Overall, while Kalaveras has a trendy vibe and ample portions, the subpar food quality and higher prices make it unlikely that I will return. read more

My first visit at, Kalaveras but, definitely not my last. From when my party walked through the doors. Welcomed with the hostess's ready to seat us and very friendly. A special thank you to our waiter, Sebastian. You made our tables first visit amazing. Sebastian was knowledgeable, attentive and we never had to request refills, napkins he just knew. Our server offered exceptional service. The cocktails were very nicely presented beautifully & the food well what can I say..hats off to the chefs. Delicious !!! I try different restaurants in the IE and it was my first time in Riverside and I decided to try out Kalaveras and honestly I was surprised by there deal on Sunday... I absolutely loved it our server was SERGIO and he was so attentive even though Sundays it's buffet style he was constantly checking up on us and making sure we were good... SERGIO came very often to our table and refilled our bottomless mimosas not like other restaurants where they never come around to refill... so I would definitely come back not only because of the buffet style brunch but because of SERGIO... restaurants definitely need servers like SERGIO!!! read more

My friends and I went here tonight for our close friends birthday. We all ordered the birria tacos and a side of rice and beans along with it. My friend was celebrating her birthday and our server Leslie hooked her up with a speciality birthday shot!! She was a super nice and attentive server with great recommendations. Inside of the restaurant is decorated with vine and flowers along with neon signs and black lights. My experience at Kalvaeras was amaaaazing because of Andres. He took his time to explain the menu to us and recommend the Margarita flight which was fantastic. You are able to taste a colorful variety of drinks just for $20. Andres was super friendly and was patient when he reviewed the menu with us. I went to this restaurant last year and have been forgetting to write a review. We went on a Sunday around noon and they were not that busy. I had a chicken wet burrito with green sauce and it did not disappoint, it was very filling. I also ordered a mojito but their drinks are not that strong and kind of pricy. Went in on a Thursday night, asked to be sat in the bar. Our bartender Siria was knowledgeable on the menu and drinks. She was attentive and friendly.
