Decided to try Kale Hale since I saw an IG post advertising $5 a pound Wagyu for local residents through the end of August. If you haven't tried Wagyu meat, it really is amazing! We weren't sure what to expect and we were pleasantly surprised. This was a Korean Hawaiian fusion restaurant and they have AYCE options with reasonable pricing for the quality of food. We ordered the Gold which had great options and we added the Wagyu to the ordered. The food was amazing. For dessert, the strawberry Lihui mui ice cake was included and it totally hit the spot. Our service was great, friendly and attentive. The restaurant was clean. Our only negative was it seemed a little messy, better organized storage in the eating area would help. We will definitely be back because everything else was great. Very down to earth, local vibe for sure with great food and a friendly staff! Win-win for everyone!

First time here and so glad we made an OpenTable reservation. The wait was about an hour otherwise! Food and service were amazing. Rice was perfect. The banchan was a good assortment. Also came with delicious luau stew. Our waitress checked on us often, so we always had meat on the grill. Along with AYCE, the specials were pho and crab hand rolls. We also scored the $20 pre-order he'e blade! Definitely a great first experience! For sure we'll be back soon.

If your looking for an all you can eat place with high quality meat & sides this is your place! This place is not like your typical cook your own meat place it's a whole vibe! Love that i didn't leave smelling like bbq lol Our server was absolutely amazing I can't remember his name but round of applause for handling our party of 12 like a champ! This in my books is a MUST try place & I'll guarantee you'll be back! Shoutout to kale hale for the kamaaina discount

Four and a 1/2 stars for excellent service, especially loved the table being set with banchan prior to seating. The smokeless grills are great, no smelly grilled meat car ride afterwards. Party of 7 we had the gold menu and it's a good value that's thoughtfully crafted for an awesome dining experience. Can't wait for our next visit and to try the other menus!!!

I've only been to a few KBBQ spots on the island so far but this place is my favorite! Meats were seasoned well, sides were tasty, and service was attentive. My favorite meats were the guava pork and salmon special.

Excellent customer service and great price for the food selection! My team and I were there for a farewell luncheon for one of my employees and the food selection was awesome! Everything from the side dishes and soup to the meats were amazing and fresh. Our waitress was super friendly and checked on us frequently through our time there. She made sure our drinks were full and asked we wanted more meat or side dishes.. she was absolutely attentive the whole time. At the end of our meal we were offered a living Mui shaved ice, but I opted for the burnt cheesecake because it looked amazing.

We loved the specials again!! They always rotate, so we do miss the lau lau and jook, but we were so happy with the other surprise specials, especially the crispy fried fish with spicy Asian sauce. Loved the flavors and textures of that one, asked for it again and again, even had it as my dessert! We were also super into the pipikaula, so tasty and tender! Plus the new kupuna special for only $20 makes this an extra awesome place to visit with my mom, who still cooks my bbq food (so I can focus on eating!!). We loved the refreshing mango ice cream after, too! We always know it's gonna be a great time at this place with the very friendly and cheerful service and the owner always coming by to make sure we're all happy and well fed - happy first year anniversary!!

The online standby system isn't active yet. I found out when we arrived and were asked if we had a reservation. We waited about 5-10 mins at the front & we're seated past the kitchen towards the left at a booth. My husband, being a tall and muscular guy, had difficulty fitting as the distance between table and bench was minimal on both sides. Our server was friendly & helpful, answered all our questions, provided us with samples of dishes. While some of the things we ordered very super tasty, others lacked flavor. Portions were decent. I'd be willing to try them again & take our time next round as they had some interesting selections!

My partner has been cooking all week, and I also recently lost a bet on a TV show... so I decided it was only right to take him out for his favorite type of food: meat. I've had Kale Hale on my "places to try" list for a while, and since they have a lot of meat options, it felt like the perfect choice. I made a same-day reservation and we went for it. First off, the ambiance is super chill and the service was great. Our server was really friendly; I think her name was Rylan (sorry if I spelled it wrong!). She had the prettiest Sakura nails and definitely made the experience even better. They offer three different tiers: * Gold - $32.99 * Value - $59.99 * Popular - $149.99 And listen... I'm a Taurus, so you can probably guess which one I picked. I went with the Popular tier because I wanted the best option. It includes all-you-can-eat Wagyu, and that night they even had specials like lobster.Everything was perfect. We went a couple rounds with the Wagyu and tried some of the regular meats too. Everything was on point. I'd definitely come back to try the other tiers in the future. Most importantly, my partner was happy, which made the money well spent.

Came back one last time before flying back to Texas. Met up with an old friend who wanted to eat somewhere so I recommended this restaurant again. We ordered the Value again and food was so good that my friend said he'll be back with friends or family. Finally got a chance to meet Chef Kale and he is literally like his videos. Very cool and super friendly braddah. I didn't see him originally and had to leave, but he literally came out to call out to me in the parking lot to let me sample an amazing Japanese A5 cut. Definitely a big marbleized difference between the cuts. Please go support this braddahs restaurant if you're in my hometown, Kaliheeeeee!

My first time dining at Kale's Hale after it was recommended to me, and I'm so glad I finally went. The service was friendly, quick, and attentive. The atmosphere is welcoming and spacious enough where you don't feel cramped to the table next to you. Food is KBBQ with Hawaiian fusion menu items. They have different tiers that come with different meat choices. We went with the gold experience to get a starter experience but we'll definitely be back to try their premium tiers. You get some banchan that's typical KBBQ plus some Hawaii local favorites like Mac salad and lomi salmon. You also start off with some appetizers that rotate daily. Highlights of the meal was the luau soup and guava pork. I loved how the guava pork was first of all thin sliced, and the taste was just subtle enough where you got a nice guava sweetness without it being overpowering. Highly recommend Kale's Hale!

I didn't forget as I said i would take pictures of the current menu and I did. I also said that i would try the chirashi and I did. I'm very glad I did. It was very good with fresh fish. I will attempt to name all the sashimi that went into making the chirashi. Forgive me if I'm wrong. Let's start off with the easy one first which would be maguro. Then there's tamago, ebi, hamachi, tako, sake, Tobiko and tai. Oh ok. I understand. Ahi (yellow fish), egg, shrimp, Yellow tail, octopus, salmon, flying fish eggs and red snapper or sea bream. The chirashi comes with Miso soup, edamame, cabbage and pickled onions(?). The place was crowded when we came in. Harder to sit a group of five people. My bowling mates all opted for the lunch box which is a great deal. It comes with everything that I got with my chirashi. You can select 2 choices and a piece of either vegetable tempura or shrimp tempura or 2 pieces of gyoza. I'd recommend the shrimp tempura. All of this for just $22.95. That's a good price for Japanese food and the amount given. My chirashi was $25.95. If you're looking for Japanese food and on a budget, give this place a try. Ask for Cris and tell her the Monday bowlers sent you. She will get a kick out of that. Mahalo gang and have a nice day.

Two of us got the Ten Zaru, cold green soba noodles with tenpura and it was good, but not enough soba to get full. We are so sad--this happened to us last year---all of a sudden the quality and quantity declined and we quit coming instead of weekly--we took a 8 month break. Hubby's choice of fried tempura tuna set, and he noted that there were 8 large tender pieces of maguro that was lightly fried and non-oily. Very delicious and filling! * Unagi nigiri. The unagi was so flaky, tender, and light and had the right amount of sauce. Loved it! The presentation of the meals was beautifully plated with real, authentic Japanese small dish bowls and plates. The food was of good quality and very flavorful! Customer service was excellent! Diners are greeted by staff upon entering and thanked when leaving. The old-time servers were very patient, attentive, welcoming, and gracious! Our food orders came out in a timely manner, and the servers, with smiles, frequently asked if everything was okay and if we needed anything else. Hours of operation are: lunch daily from 11a to 2p, dinner from 5p to 9p, closed Wed. Happy hour is from Thurs to Tues from 1:30p to 5p. I've often wondered about this old skool Japanese restaurant called "Yagura Restaurant"…read more Old skool diners are da BESTEST!!! After seeing my Yelp buddy - Tami C. check into this restaurant numerous times, I figah I go chance 'em!!!! I'm so happy to have tried this old skool Japanese restaurant, as I adore the old skool nostalgia! Walking into this restaurant makes me feel like I was a little kid in the 1970's. My friend & I were greeted right away upon entering the restaurant, and directed to sit into a vinyl seated booth/table. Yagura's menu is simple, offering an array of Teishoku meals. I ended up getting the BBQ Chicken Teishoku meal which included a salad, miso soup, white rice, & tsukemono. My friend - Gary T. ended up getting a combination plate of BBQ Chicken & Shrimp Tempura. What can I say about da grub? Simply O.U.T.S.T.A.N.D.I.N.G!!! My BBQ Chicken came out on a hot sizzling platter, & underneath the BBQ Chicken there was grilled onions. Yum! The chicken skin was crispy, and the sauce was deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelicious! Nicely executed! My friend also enjoyed his meal & mention to me that he was also glad to try this place, as he's never been here before. Service here was on point, as the waitress was friendly & efficient. Parking here is a bit challenging, as there are only 4 parking stalls infront of the restaurant. If you're unlucky to get one of the premium parking stalls, street parking is your only other option. The decor at this restaurant is definitely old skool. If your dig old skool nostalgia like me, then ya gotta check out Yagura Restaurant!

Another one I was able to cross off my list. I've probably driven by this place hundreds of times…read morebut never tried it. I met a friend who works nearby for lunch. This place is definitely a throwback. You can feel that vibe once you walk through the doors. Quickly got seated and served water and tea (which I really appreciated). Some places don't offer it or don't even have it. The menu is quite extensive. I settled on the Teishoku with Sashimi, salmon and teri beef. They brought out the miso soup (not the kind out of a tube) and the rice before the meal arrived. I was pleasantly surprised at the size of the salmon, most places that I go to it's pretty small. I could only eat half of it. The portions sizes for all the dishes were good. I actually had to take home some of the teri beef too. Kind of bummed that I hadn't been to this place 20 years ago. I guess like they say, better late than never. I will be back.

Hiro is incredibly personable, engaging, and entertaining. We had so much fun chatting with him and Brandy (if I remember correctly) throughout the meal. He really set the ambiance with the lighting, beautiful art, and all these cute little knickknacks + trinkets. Every single course was explained so beautifully. As he was describing each dish, my mouth was just salivating knowing how good it was going to be. Each bite literally felt like that scene in Ratatouille where Remy tastes the cheese and strawberry together and fireworks start going off. The parking lot facing N Nimitz Highway was super convenient, just a short walk from the restaurant, and cost $9 after our dinner. We couldn't have asked for a better first omakase experience and we are so glad we chose Hiro No Uchi!

Very pleasantly surprised by this somewhat hidden sushi omakase spot in Chinatown. I've never heard…read moreof this place before, nor the chef, and was invited by a group of friends celebrating a special occasion. I usually pass on sushi omakase outside of Japan nowadays unless the experience is significantly value added. I loved the decor and vibes. Everything seemed very personal and aesthetically kooky, like I was in a trendy yet intimate late night izakaya spot. The seats were a little empty this night but I didn't mind the specialized attention by the chef. There are two times for seating (5:30PM and 8:30PM). We opted for 5:30 seating. There were 14 courses and a complimentary, customized macaron at the end. Definitely wowed from the get-go, loved the attention to detail and chef's run down of ingredients and where he sourced them (a lot from Japan, some local). Ingredients for toppings were creative. Fish was fresh *although some gristle existed on some of my pieces which I didn't love (and a bone in just one). I would say though, the topping ingredients got a little repetitive as the courses progressed. I did not enjoy the miso soup nor the tamagoyaki at the end (the last two courses). Miso soup did not have deep flavor and there was alot of it. The texture and taste of the tomago was not pleasant, a sweet bite of charcoal and black sesame accents. I would say definitely come once for the atmosphere and food. I think the experience is a little more subjective from person to person. It wasn't the cheapest sushi omakase (a little over $200 per person if you gave a generous tip) without drinks. My favorite bites were the Yellow Stripe Butterfish, the Rockfish topped with a strand of seagrape, and the 5-day aged toro topped with gold flakes from Kanazawa, Japan. There is also a hallway and bathroom that connects to a hidden speakeasy operated by the Easy Company. Cute and intimate as well!

Flavors are balanced yet full of amazing. Meat skewers of chicken, pork, wagyu A5 beef so tender. The space is intimate yet upscale. It's where I bring out of town guests to for a memorable meal. Love to pregame Hawaii Theatre shows at Hachibei But now that they have announced their impending closure (last day of operations is this coming Sunday). Wanted to get my thoughts of this exceptional establishment down in writing. Thank you to the staff and owners of Yakitori Hachibei for many memorable bites. This fan will miss you. In the last times that we had visited, there was no omakase option (or we didn't get it anyway) but this time we decided to try it. It was nice to try different dishes than we would've selected ourselves and everything tasted great. I believe it was 12 items for $60. The one sad part was that they no longer offered the kuro goma panna cotta that I REALLY wanted one last time. =( It seems like this restaurant is owned by a restaurant group so hoping the dessert pops up at another one of their restaurants one day. Thank you for the great meals Yakitori Hachibei, you'll be missed!
