Returned after several years away, following many great visits in the past, and this place is still everything I remembered. The staff are genuinely welcoming, the atmosphere is relaxed and enjoyable, and the food continues to be excellent. Glad to see the consistency over time. I'll be back soon.

I like the location of this Merriman's because of the nice outdoor patio ambiance. We went for Happy Hour and had a really friendly server and delicious food! I especially enjoyed the yummy Mai tai with Lilikoi foam. In fact I had two! The happy hour special is $11 each. :) The slam burger was especially enjoyable as well. The bun was unique... soft on the inside with a slight chew on the crust. Also, it didn't come with fries, so we got an order to share for the table. Unfortunately, they were a bit overcooked and dried out. I tried a bite of the Lilikoi pane cotte to end the meal. I had such a great experience that I plan on returning onmy next trip.

Went to Merriman's to celebrate mom's birthday. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. Service is attentive and friendly. And they have live music. Happy hour from 3-5:30pm which we made it to just in time. I've been looking for a new fish n chips spot since Likos closed, and I have to say this one was really good! Very crispy and flaky fish with good flavor. Will definitely get again. The green beans have a nice crunch and flavor. I like the macadamia nuts on top for extra crunch as well. I tried the beef bourguignon for the first time. The meat was very tender and flavorful. Kind of reminded me of a fancy beef stew (in a good way). My mom got the cast iron chicken. Portion was very big, those chickens were fed well. Delicious taste and cooked to perfection! For mom's birthday, they gave us complimentary champagne glasses. For dessert they sent an ice cream scoop with a happy birthday message. Well done Merriman's. Will be coming back!

    Chicken Pot Pie- Incredibly Delicious!

Merriman's Honolulu absolutely nailed it. The smash burger was insanely delicious--perfectly crisp edges, juicy center, and packed with flavor. And the chicken pot pie? Hands down one of the most delicious I've ever had. Rich, comforting, and clearly made with care. The vibe is fantastic--relaxed but elevated--and the location couldn't be better. It feels like the kind of place you want to linger in. On top of that, the staff were genuinely wonderful: warm, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. Ask for the Wi-Fi password. This is a cellular dead zone. Can't wait to come back. Highly recommend!

This place is definitely a vibe. I went for happy hour, which is decently priced for the area. If you can I recommend sitting outside simply to enjoy the gorgeous weather and outdoor atmosphere but inside is decorated in a trendy, upscale vibe. Plenty of seating. We didn't have a reservation and didn't have to wait. We decided to split some small plates. The fish tacos were good but would not recommend if you're pretty hungry because you only get 2 and the fish piece is quite small; very flavorful though! We also got the hummus with the sweet potato chips which was delicious! They do offer more chips for the dip we had left but we were full by then. Also recommend the current chef's cocktail. It's a twist in a classic marg and comes with tajin on the rim (IYKYK). The service was impeccable. From the greeting at the door to timely delivery of the check, but not rushing to leave once we paid. I'll definitely come back the next time I'm in town

Service: table service Ambiance: upscale, modern Food: would rec for happy hour. they have a rotating cocktail special that never disappoints, and their classic mai tai (that you can also find at Mokus and Monkeypod) On the regular menu, I rec the Chicken pot pie luau. it's a lunch item, but they may still have during happy hour

I enjoy the atmosphere and food at Merriman's. Went for lunch one day and decided to get the smash burger. The smash burger comes with fries too. The burger was tasty and juicy and the serving size was just right for a lunch meal.

Went here last night for a friend's bday dinner. This place doesn't disappoint! I ordered their fresh catch fish of the day which was macadamia nut crusted with a delicious sauce! It came with bok choy and brown rice. It was so good! Love their drinks too!

Every time I've walked by this place it always seemed too intimidating to check out simply because it's part of one of the first luxury condos built in Kaka'ako. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the prices were pretty much at par with other nice eateries. Dylan was our server and he was accommodating and helpful when we asked for a desert recommendation (bread pudding was ono and not too sweet). We both had yummy the Roasted Beet & Hirabara Farms Fennel Salad, which didn't go over well with my niece who cannot eat cilantro (it was in the dressing, which she had on the side so was provided another dressing). As it turned out there was cilantro & mint in the salad so she had to pick out the cilantro. Thankfully, I love cilantro so I gobbled all of it up. The goat cheese made the salad even more substantial. On the side we ordered the "Bag 'o Biscuits" with a rather runny, but tasty, jam. Runny or not the two were a delightful combination. I like the ambiance of this place so I think I'll be back. Thanks, Dylan!!

We arrived at 6:30pm and waited just a few minutes before being seated. Our friendly server brought our drinks promptly and walked us through the evening's specials. Within minutes, our food was served. The kalua pig quesadillas were outstanding--perfectly crispy with tender, flavorful pork, paired with poi dip and kim chee. The macadamia-crusted swordfish was cooked beautifully, tender and flaky, with perfectly prepared vegetables and a delicious garlic rice pilaf. To top it off, they surprised me with a complimentary birthday dessert. The chocolate purse was absolutely decadent. The lively ambiance, complete with live entertainment outside, made for yet another fantastic experience at Merriman's.

Went for happy hour menu around 4:15pm. Waited about 15 minutes. There's a wait for bar seating too, bar is not open seating- you have to wait. Didn't love that. Happy hour menu is between 3-5:30pm. The service was quick. Quick to take our order and food to come out of kitchen. Food is really good. Great price and potion size is good. I like the smash burger and green beans. The restaurant has a nice ambiance. Ok for casual dress. Good place a dinner date or catch up with friends. Parking at Whole Foods, South Shore, movie theaters or the ward shops.

My friends and I came here on a Thursday evening for dinner. It was a little busy, so we had to wait for a table to become available. We had a stroller with us, and they were able to accommodate the stroller. Food: We started with the bag of biscuits and fries to share. The biscuits were pretty good. Enough to share between 3 adults. The fries were standard and delicious. For my entree, I ordered the mushroom ravioli. While the dish does not come with a lot of ravioli, it is a good sized portion and very good. Service: Since it was busy, service was a little slow. However, everyone at the restaurant was very nice and accommodating since we had a baby with us. Our server was nice and checked up on us regularly. The appetizers came out pretty quick out of the kitchen, but the entrees took longer than expected. TL;DR - Friendly staff and good food. Expect a wait when it's busy!

I've gone to Merriman's Honolulu on three separate occasions: to celebrate my birthday, to celebrate a job promotion and on a date. I LOVE it here. Their SZECHUAN STIR-FRY GREEN BEANS WITH MAC NUTS is delicious. It's got a nice crunch and a little kick to it. They used to have clams as an appetizer and it was so good especially with the bread! I ALWAYS order their steak Frites because how can you go wrong with some prime sirloin cooked to perfection and rosemary sea salt fries? I did try their CAST IRON ORGANIC CHICKEN a main dish they're known for and it was juicy, flavorful, and big enough to share with another person. I've yet to try their WAIALUA CHOCOLATE PURSE each of the times I went they ran out of it and I was heartbroken. Maybe on the next visit my luck will change. Be sure to check out their menu for specials and I recommend making reservations. If you can, it doesn't hurt to visit during happy hour so you can try more dishes.

Parking was scarce, but we managed to find a spot nearby in the neighborhood. It was a Saturday around lunchtime, and we were able to be seated immediately. We didn't really know what we were doing with the menu, so our server ordered whatever she thought we would like. She did a great job. We got the Pipikaula short ribs, kalua pig, lomi lomi salmon, poi, mac salad, and fried butterfish collar.  Everything was so good! My favorite two items were the short ribs and the butterfish collar. The short ribs were so meaty with a nice firm texture and had a yummy sweet marinade. The fried butterfish collar was crispy and dripping with buttery goodness.  Trying poi for the first time was such an interesting experience as well. I had always wondered what it tasted like. I had always thought it was going to be like a sweet taro paste dessert, but it's actually more like a starch and serves the same role as rice! Its neutral flavor allows you to pair it with your proteins. It adds a bit of texture and helps you feel full. I was really grateful for finally getting to try it and loved learning something new! We went with what's recommended for first timers - laulau pork, you eat the leaves everything and it's filling and delicious - short ribs, some might say it's overcooked but I think it's just a different way of cooking and eating it, the pieces were thick and high quality, comes with 4 - Loki salmon, it's cured and this reminds me of ceviche or pico de gallo and salmon, it was flavorful, juicy and refreshing - comes with onions and salt to add to the complexity of the flavors - we ate it with poi, which they use as the starch to replace the rice. It's made of taro, I say give it a try for that unique and authentic experience - coconut jelly was yummy They accept cash and card Limited parking in the front, come in right before 5:30 on a weekday to beat the crowd Small family business vibes The experience lives up to the hype!

The staff was super nice about it and was able to accommodate us, with only a small request that we be out by 8pm since there was another big party with a reservation coming in. Absolutely reasonable. They sat us right away at three large tables, which gave us plenty of space for food and didn't force us to sit super close together. Menus, waters, plates, napkins, and forks were all brought out immediately, and our waiter was quick to take our order. We started with the prix fixe menu for 8-10 guests and were going to add other items à la carte, but a handful of our group accidentally went to the other Side Street location (make sure your group is all on the same page), so what we ordered ended up being more than enough. We left stuffed and with 5 boxes of food still. Edamame was nice and steamy, and large enough to easily pop the beans out with your mouth. Wish there was a bit more salt though. The farmer's salad had everything going on from citrusy to salty to crispy. Avocado had a little bit of oxidation but the capers, dressing and potato curls provided plenty of reasons to overlook it. The fried rice came in a hefty portion, with sizable pieces of bacon and sausage. The chicken I didn't realize was boneless based on the shape of the deep fry, but it was nice to freely bite into it without worrying about hitting anything with my teeth. Probably a bit too much on fried bits but still good. Pork chops had a better meat to crisp ratio in my opinion, as well as juiciness. They even came with ketchup on the side, which I love as a pairing but don't see much of at restaurants. My favorite meat item was definitely the sizzling boneless kalbi. The presentation on the sizzling plate with a side of kimchi was spectacular, and the meat was full of flavor. We also ordered yakisoba, which wasn't part of the prix fixe. Tasted good but nothing past standard expectations. We let the waiter know we had a 30th birthday at the table, and they brought a couple scoops of vanilla ice cream with a candle, and did a decent job getting the whole room to participate in the singing. It could also be the type of crowd this place attracts, since it seemed that everyone was so friendly and approachable. Thanks to the quick and consistent service, we were out in a little over an hour with no complaints.

It looks so simple and straightforward but that sht is so flavorful. It is crispy and yet soft on the inside. The salmon belly is cut into bite-sized pieces so I didn't have to worry about using a knife to cut it. I usually try salmon belly where it is usually seasoned lightly to bring out the natural flavor of the salmon, but Guava Smoked's salmon belly is just grilled in a way that makes the salmon sweet/crispy and still get traces of the salmon taste as well. It's definitely not your traditional Japanese-style way of cooking salmon belly but really just their own. I'd go back and get this again. Another thing too. I'd get this with beer. This would hit very hard with alcohol but because I don't drink I need a kombucha. The grilled salmon belly would go perfect with it. Cheers! Uncle was very helpful and kind when serving and if you dine-in he brings it to your table.

The guy at the counter wasn't the most people person ever, but he also got the job done. Didn't get a photo of the guava cake brownie thing they have, but it was really yummy.

The owner was very friendly and took the time to recommend dishes for us, including the laulau and lechon kawali. We also ordered the BBQ short ribs. Overall, it was a good experience trying Hawaiian food, but it's just not really our type of cuisine. The laulau was quite dry, and the preparation felt more like meat that had been boiled or cooked in liquid, which isn't something I usually enjoy. The lechon kawali had a crispy pork belly texture, topped with something similar to a salsa, but it didn't suit our taste either. Unfortunately, the cabbage served with it also had some black spots, which was off-putting. The BBQ short ribs were the highlight of the meal and the dish we enjoyed the most. We appreciate the experience and the hospitality, but the flavors just didn't quite match our personal preferences.

Then someone wanted to change from rice to poi. I tried many times and no one answered. Their voice mailbox was full. We e ended going there to make the change. He gentleman looked like he was working be himself. We bads to wait almost a half hour for him to finish the order. 2. Price - the prices were higher than expected. All the plates were $26.00 and up. 3. Food - The poi was very tasty and fresh, although a bit watery. The lau lau had a lot of lean pork filling, not a lot of leaves. The long rice didn't have much chicken and was a bit watery too. We enjoyed the sweet potato. There was also lomi salmon, haupia onion and chili pepper water. 4. As mentioned before there isn't much parking. The restaurant wasn't busy when we got there. Overall the food and service was OK. The price was a bit high.
