I couldn't deny all the photos of the fresh fish! Was expecting to splurge a lot of $ but the price is really reasonable esp for the chutoro/otoro which is usually hella expensive for just the fish itself. Got the chutoro/otoro and trio deluxe donburis, as well as 1/4 Spice Hurricane and Maui Onion poke... SO GOOD AND SO FRESH. The sashimi had such vibrant colors with a nice thick cut. Both donburi's were filling. I actually preferred the chutoro over the otoro as the otoro was super buttery imo but that's just me. Fish overall was 10000/10! Limited parking but was able to park down the street and walked. It was a little busy and we had to wait maybe like 10-15min for our food but it's well worth it.

Coming off a long flight from Chicago, I wanted good local and non-touristy place that served fresh poke and this was the spot! I had a 2 poke combo plate and took a whim on choices because they had so much to offer. My brain has fireworks upon the first bite and I finished the whole thing in no time. It's a small, to-go designed place with very limited seating. The service was excellent as they were so patient on my first time visit. I would 100% recommend this place over and over again.

We picked up the Trio for a quick lunch. The sushi rice was a little sweet for my taste, but the fish was really fresh and everything else tasted great! They only have a few parking stalls and the surrounding area is pretty crowded so parking might be an issue if you are stopping by by yourself. Overall a great place for poke bowls and sashimi donburi's and will definitely be going back.

Fresh fish. Taste was great! Service was quick & staff was polite. Clean space. Limited parking or street parking available. Came here after going to container land for dried marlin and the owner suggested we check his son's shop out. So we came. My friend had also posted about this place. Happy we made the stop! Ono poke! Reasonable price especially for fresh fish. Will be back again!

This place has grown on me even more than before. FANTASTIC and it's saving me a lot of gas in my car because it's right around the corner!!!!!! Listen, this place is so good that there's no need to go anywhere else for fresh fish. They have all the best tasting fish all in one spot with meticulous cuts. It is a fantastic place!!!!! Everyone loves this place !!!!!

Takeout spot. Delicious and fresh fish can be found here for an affordable price which is RaRE these days... it's in an unassuming area in Mapunapuna surrounded by auto shops, dealerships, etc. if it wasn't for yelp or google I would've never found this place. I tried the Laotian flavor poke bowl. It's pretty good but my favorite is still their chirashi bowl coz that's when the fresh fish flavor could shine. The cuts of the sashimi were amazing, no stringiness and just full of fish fatty goodness. I'd say the quality was comparable to some omakase places! Went in there at 10:30 and I wasn't the only one lol. That gotta be a popular spot! It's such a great spot to stop by when you drop off your car at the dealership. Can't wait to eat there again.

This place is a hidden gem! Don't blink while driving down here or you will miss the tiny parking area they have. They do have a couple of stalls in the front but other than that it's street parking. That being said, the garlic ahi poke and Souza Special I had were delicious. It was fresh and the perfect amount of rice to fish ratio. We also called in our order while on the way there and it was ready to go by the time we got there 10 mins later. The shop is clean and bright and I will definitely be back again.

Decided to finally give this place a try after seeing it a few times when driving by. All the fish here is Sooooo fresh. The flavors are all on point. Parking is small in front but there's some street parking. You only come in quick anyways. Great costumer service and they threw in some miso soup for us and it was a rainy day so it was perfect. They're awesome. They can torch the fish if you want, I had them torch salmon because I'm pregnant. Yeah sad I couldn't fully enjoy it but I am definitely coming back for the little nibbles I was able to taste. I'm already hooked. Lol They also got come little desserts in the fridge for purchase and cute hair clips I was so tempted to buy. Hole in the wall spot glad we found it.

I was craving poke nachos and came across Souza's Fish House in Mapunapuna. Although it was a bit of a drive to get there, I was determined to go based on all the 5 star reviews. And let me tell you, it definitely lived up to all the hype! This is a little hole -in-the-wall in an industrial area. There's only a few parking spots in front, so you'll need to find street parking if you're not one of the lucky ones. Upon arrival, I was greeted by the friendliest employees! I ordered the Poke Nachos (2 choices) for $20. I chose the Shoyu Ahi and the Hawaiian Salt Ahi. I asked if they could separate the poke from the chips since I planned to eat it later on, and they kindly put the poke in separate containers so I could keep the poke cold in my fridge. When I finally dived into my poke nachos, it was so delicious! I combined everything together and it was one of the best poke nachos I've ever had. The fish was so fresh and they were generous with the poke portions. I would highly recommend this place for poke, and I will definitely return soon to try some of their other items!

Another 5-star experience! I wanted Poke again and went back to Souza's for a Spicy Ahi Poke Bowl. The sides are consistently good, and their Spicy Ahi Poke is unique - I can't put my finger on it, but it's different from other Poke places I've tried. The texture is smoother, fish is fresh, and there's some kind of umami that hits the tastebuds soooooo good!

    Marina C.

Can't beat it. It's a walk up place for takeout, and they have the most fresh cut fish that melts in your mouth. Everyone is very nice there. Parking is tough, but sometimes you can just have someone drop you off and run in and then run out!

Souza's Fish House is a hidden gem. I finally, got a chance to stop in. It's located in the Mapunapuna area. Parking can be challenging but it's worth the wait to find one. Staff was very friendly. As busy as they were, they manage to greet us as we walked-in. This place is for takeout orders only. We had the Hurricane Bowl and the Spicy Ahi Bowl. It looks like the proportions are small, but the dish was deep and had a generous amount inside. I gotta say it was super flavorful and tasty with the crab salad on the side. There was a seasoned cuttlefish on the side which was superb. All their fish is served fresh. That's what makes it sooo good! I will be back to try other items on my next visit.

Stopped by after running around doing errands. Ordered the two choice poke bowl w/ sushi rice , wasabi crunch & hurricane poke. The fish is super fresh and the chunks were cut to perfect size. I like when the pieces are cut on the larger side . I liked the hurricane poke , it is super tasty. The wasabi was nice and spicy.

TL;DR Fantastic…read morepoke. Manoa represent!!! ----- Off the Hook Poke lives up to the hype. There's a constant line out the door filled with locals and tourists alike. And for good reason. Off the Hook delivers consistent, high-quality poke bowls (trays?) in the heart of beautiful Manoa Valley. I've been coming to Off the Hook since it opened way back in 2018. While the prices have steadily increased, the delicious poke has remained the same. For poke bowls, you have several options to consider: 1) Mini or regular size 2) Rice option (white, brown, sushi, or green salad) 3) One or two choices of poke At this point I've tried almost every one of their poke offerings, and they are all fantastic. You cannot go wrong with whatever you choose. However, I'd say 95% of the time I stick with the Cold Ginger Ahi and the Spicy Ahi. These are guaranteed hits. I also really like the Wasabi Furikake Ahi. Lastly, makes sure you load up on their free toppings! Masago, tempura flakes, and scallions. Yummmy!

Off the Hook advertises auction-fresh ahi, which distinguishes it from other poke joints that use previously frozen fish. Since I was a first-timer, I opted for a sampler: 1/4 # of each of the following: Shoyu Poke, Kilauea Fire, and the signature Cold Ginger Ahi, which my friends have been raving about. All three were good and seasoned perfectly: just the right amount of sauce. My favorite, hands-down, was the Cold Ginger ahi, which pays homage to the Cantonese ginger-scallion sauce served over chicken, and not oily: wonderfully fresh grated ginger in this! Shoyu was also on point: nice sweet umami sauce. Was actually expecting much more spice in the Kilauea Fire, which had a mild chili flavor. Miso gave it depth and richness, making the sauce gochujang-like in flavor. Arguably, the only downside would be the price point: 1LB= $33.99 1/2LB= $16.99 1/4LB= $8.49: expensive, but excellent-quality product, and definitely fresh, with melt-in-the-mouth fish.

The sashimi and poke are the kind of thing where you don't need a ton of sauce or toppings because the fish speaks for itself. The tuna, salmon and hamachi had a buttery, melt in your mouth texture.. The downside is that the popularity means you should expect a line, especially around opening. Some people recommend arriving 15 to 20 minutes early, while others say the line can get significantly longer once they open. I think this is a better choice if you're specifically looking for really good raw fish rather than a traditional poke shop with tons of mix ins. The pricing can also feel a little high depending on what you order but for that quality it's worth it.
