We decided to stop here for brunch on our way to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. The other people I went with were Gonzaga students who had mentioned that this was the to-go spot for breakfast. I heard that it was a great place to go, and always crowded. When we went, it wasn't as crowded as usual and we were seated within 5 minutes. It was still busy though. We had called in earlier and we were able to make reservations for a party of 4. I decided to stick with a savory breakfast and ordered a Farmer Johns. It's basically a mix of chopped potatoes, fries, bacon and green peppers all topped with shredded cheddar cheese. I intentionally wanted the half size, but I had forgotten to mention that to the server. The full order was HUGE. Also, the meal came with 4 slices of toast. I was only able to eat 1/3 of my food so I had to bring back the rest. Only made it halfway with the toast. It was delicious though, and very affordable. Breakfast was delicious! I ordered the huckleberry pancakes with three slices of crisp bacon. My daughter ordered the huckleberry waffle and my husband had the chorizo sausage taco special. Everything was exactly as ordered. The pancakes were large and full of huckleberries plus cooked perfect. I requested my bacon crisp and it came out just as ordered. My husband loved his tacos and was glad he only ordered two because he said they were very filling. We also ordered two glasses of fresh squeezed orange juice. It was so sweet that I had to confirm they did not add sugar! Our waitress was so friendly and refilling coffee without having to be asked. If I had to change anything..it would be less margarine on my pancakes but that is just a personal preference. We can't wait to visit again! read more

I had the California Benedict with a side of hashbrowns, and, not only did they have Tabasco sauce at the table, they had a wall of Hot Sauces if you had a different preference. I love the food and this place doesn't get enough credit. My favorite breakfast place in Spokane. All the servers are helpful and pleasant. I would highly recommend Kalico to anyone. My husband and I brought our 3 year old in. Being a typical toddler, he spilt water all over the table. I was a little embarrassed and was nervous of a negative response form the waitress. However, this was not the case and she was very understating. She was very nice about it and she treated us with respect. Not fancy, kind of cramped dining, and a damn good breakfast. It's obvious when you walk in that there's a ton of "regulars" who frequent the place. And for good reason. Coffee is hot and fast, and staff is friendly, the service is quick, and the food is good. We will be back. read more

I have been coming to Kalico since 2001-2002?? and let me just say I am a regular with a cup, and I and my cousin John are the reason they have a bowl full of creamer and pour sugar! and they all know I go by Jess even though my cup says Jessica. I invite all of my friends and family and they love me and I love them. Food is fairly priced huge portions friendly staff who always knows your name! Once a year in December is my family's (Ladies Day out!) they always make room around 20 of us friends and family come in!!!!! I'm giving Kalico Kitchen three stars. When we arrived there was a ten minute wait. That's fine, popular place. And when we asked for condiments, they came right out. But the bland pancake I had tasted like wheat flour mix, and the gravy my companion had with his biscuits was a bit mealy. He asked for soft bacon, and it almost shattered when it hit the plate. Overall the food was okay. I thought it should have been better, with the crowd at the door. But the wait staff were nice and fast and the place was clean and easy to find. read more

My food was good. I ordered chili and my friend ordered an omelette. We arrived at 1:00 pm, not realizing that the restaurant closed early. The seating is too close for conversation about anything other than the weather. We were last to leave and we were asked by a staff person if we needed pillows to spend the night. I'm so disappointed in the direction this business has gone. Portions are so much smaller, the service isn't what it use to be and the food tasted terrible. I got the Swiss mushroom and spinach scramble and it was so cover in Swiss cheese I couldn't stomach it. When I told the server that it was gross she just took it away and didn't ask if I wanted something else or if they could replace it she just took it. All I ate was some cottage cheese with some very thin tomatoes. I understand that times are tough and during this pandemic the businesses are struggling but they have to do better. Showed up, had a wait. That's fine, I'm in the military and used to the "GET THERE NOW...and take a seat" mentality. So we sat in the waiting area that looks like the whole city has autographed it with markers and pen for the past 20 years. Finally got seated and ordered the Country Benedict (eggs Benedict with biscuits and gravy). Food was pretty good and had great flavor. The only annoying aspect of the place was the waitress staff was...too prompt. My girlfriend and I had to say "no thank you" to beverage refills ever 2 minutes from various waitresses.
