This is the take home extensive offering

EASTVAN DIM SUM: PANACHE & PIZzaZz No doubt they have become one of Vancouver's best purveyor of Hong Kong foods . it's presented with a harmony of Asian tradition with the best of invisible minority panache and pizzazz with Asian fusion of class and style The ambience is eclectic with its local upbeat vibe subliminally rooting its horn as a local Vancouver owned eatery . It takes it to a new level that outdoes the foreign owned Din Tai Fung and invisible minority owned eateries such as White Spot, Earls , Cactus club , Browns Social House, etc . The menu is extensive with all the Hong Kong favourites , Siu Mai, Ha gow, , Won Tun soup & Noodles, Rice rolls , lotus leaf rice and so much more. The menu offering board above the OrderDesk is a very hard to read as some of the font is too light and too small or all the same size font I would strongly urge them to use Black font and increase the headings or otherwise provide binoculars to see it better if you are 10 feet or more away. Or have an optometrist conduct an eye exam for you . The staff is energetic and happy . Our order taker was Chinese and originally from Hong kong . This adds to the authenticity.... She spoke good English unlike many Greek eateries where the staff is not Greek.and can't speak English properly You can sit either sit on a long counter facing the street or get a table . You can even get Cool funky T shirts with their several funky designs. To get more punch , I would suggest they sell them at a better price ... say $ 5 with a $50 purchase or $10 with a $25 purchase . This would be like having walking bill boards by those wearing it The hours are only lunch hour and it would be avant garde if they open till 10pm . It will give them a chance to tap into the built in market of the fried chicken eaters across the street . Cluck cluck Eat Dim sum and don't chicken out ... lah There is an extensive takeout section of refrigerators of most of their menu ... . If you want to eat at home

So mum wanted to show her appreciation for being her chauffeur taking her around to the doctors…read more She took me out for dimsum and with it being in Richmond there is a plethora of choices. She wanted to go to Kirin. Plenty of parking in the mall. Hostess greeted and seated us promptly. Restaurant was busy but not crazy. This was at 10am on a Thursday. Waiters were attentive. Usual table service was in place. Took our order and food came out at acceptable pace. When we were done, they politely boxed up the leftovers and we paid our bill. So service was on point. The food we ordered came out hot. The staples that I order to test was hargow, suimai and pai gwut(spareribs). All 3 dishes in general were good.....the hargow could have used an extra minute or 2 in the steamer. The suimai was very good. I tasted every ingredient in this dish. Usually it is just a complete mix and you can't discern the different flavors. They tried something different with the cheongfun by adding pieces of Chinese donut to the roll. I personally think it didn't add much to the dish, taste or texture wise. I did like the pea shoots with shrimp. I think it is a good combo. All in all a good dimsum. I also noticed they did not charge us a tea service. The cost of the food is comparable with other restaurants at this level. Yes come on a date or impress business clients/boss or family celebrations.

Came here for a Chinese wedding reception and the whole place was reserved for us…read more The food was a set menu and everything on it was yummy and well prepared. I like the way they portioned it and served each of us. They did not skimp out on the ingredients, such as if they say whole abalone, it really is. They definitely served the best seafood. The dessert also was amazing with the brown sugar cake and tapioca pudding. The only reason 1 star was missing was that parking was not that easy and service was mostly good. At times, some staff were not was attentive such as: they took the chopsticks away, but you still needed them. Still, Kirin is solid for it's dim sum and seafood!

As a high end restaurant, the food quality was below average. However, what truly disappointed me was the poor service. Even though the restaurant was not busy, the dishes were served very slowly. The first 2 dishes came out fast, but the later 2 dishes came out after 45 min. When we asked for additional rice and water, we had to wait an unusually long time. Throughout the meal, we felt neglected. It was hard not to feel that the level of service was noticeably indifferent, possibly because we did not order any high-priced seafood or premium dishes. For a restaurant at this price point, the service was simply unacceptable. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience. I would not return and would not recommend it.
