Kanak Express food truck, Sunday July 13th lunchtime at Green Acres Boise…read moreBeen awhile since I had visited Kanak Attack, the food truck started up in 2009 and the business model now includes a mobile group that supports fire fighter activities, as well as a permanent catering division at Lake Harbor with a restaurant. As with any food truck, some of the hardest part of finding them is knowing where to look. I've had the best luck by following Kanak on Instagram, but you can also look up Green Acres by Shoreline Drive on Pioneer street (new location) to see the multiple trucks scheduled that week. Another source I use a lot is the Treasure Valley Food Truck Finder (formerly Boise Food Trucks) on Facebook. Like most food trucks that feature proteins, the prices have jumped up in the last two-three years. A salad with protein is the best bet for bargain hunters at $10, or the three tacos (see menu photo) but I have found that getting the twenty dollar "Two Entree Plate Lunch" works out pretty good as it's usually enough for one meal immediately and another reheated in the microwave (rice) and air fryer (meat). The plate lunch includes a) choose a rice, b) choose a salad and c) choose a protein. My favorites are the Kalua Pig, which is smoky, shredded pork that is juicy, not overly fatty, but maybe to salty for some. I saved most of this and made enchiladas the next day at home. Teriyaki chicken is the same price, add a $1 for the Katsu Chicken which was juicy and crispy with the breaded fried exterior and includes a dipping sauce that's a little sweet and addictive, it's so good. Used to plain macaroni salad? Hawaiian style is a little different, but delicious and is usually the first side I finish. If you are a first timer, don't be afraid to ask for help figuring out what to order, the crew usually takes the time to answer questions and guide you. Their barbecue sauce is also fantastic. I got the side of vegan potato salad at the recommendation of the server and she did not steer me wrong, that was really good potato salad. The server was also very sweet and helpful. They have very interesting decor and lots of seating inside, plus a couple of little tables outside. I did not expect to find vegan food this good in Boise. It was also really affordable. I will definitely come back here the next time I'm in town!

I started to panic knowing the group would be coming from all parts of Boise and they would not know before trying to arrive there that it was closed. Well Kona Grill and the Manager Alexis came to the rescue I walked into Kona, explained the dilemma and without hesitation Alexis said I think we can accommodate our group. And accommodate us they did. I have to give a big, big, BIG shout out to Patrick and Trevor. They were masterful as our servers. The orders were taken quickly and brought out in a very timely way. Big groups I know can be taunted but Patrick and Trevor rode to the occasion. They were efficient, caring and totally in command all evening in taking and bringing out the orders and never complaining. Both were very pleasant, Professional and right there if we needed anything. It was a great evening and totally happy Kona could accommodate our group and as usual the food and happy hour appetizers were great
