We just moved here and my wife took me here for my birthday dinner. The "special" was prime rib so I ordered that and my wife had the lemon chicken. The wedge salad came out and was delicious! Half way thru my salad, the bread and entrees arrived! I don't understand the timing as we were the only couple in the restaurant! I ordered my prime rib M rare and it came out MW. For an appetizer, we had the bruschetta/mozzarella. It was excellent. For entrees, we had the 12 oz NY Strip and the 6 oz Filet Mignon. Both were cooked as ordered and very tasty. Wedge and Caesar salads were large and very good too, although I'd prefer the Caesar to be chopped up rather than whole. We also had the fries and a special sweet potato dish. Fries were excellent and the sweet potatoes were good but very sweet due to the toppings. We did love the fact that the sides were included, rather than extra like so many steakhouses. Our server, Renee, was very nice and very attentive. We would have given 5 stars, but the ambiance is not up to the quality of the food. To be honest, it is dark and rather depressing. I don't think it would take much to spruce it up a little and make it more enjoyable for special occasions. Disappointing- 2 of our 3 diners ordered the 12 oz Rib Steak ($26) dinners. Steaks were cooked to desired doneness and were well seasoned. Unfortunately, they were both cut less than 1/2" thick and were tough and chewy. Not at all what was expected, especially at that price. Wedge salads were good. Brussels sprouts were boiled to mush - seasoning would have been good if they had been roasted and not so over cooked. Other diner had the pork chop special, which was very good. The 1lb Chocolate cake was delicious & more than enough for 6 to share! Bottom line - not worth the cost if you're looking for a good steak. And why else would one go to a steakhouse? read more

First thing I noticed, can't tell the waiters from the customers. All dressed casual with no name tags. Relaxed atmosphere. Wedge salad and rolls were delicious. Bread was served in a plastic basket and butter was served in a plastic cup with a lid on it, not exactly what I would expect with a $35 entree. Steaks were delicious and cooked to perfection. Three of our sides were a hot mess. The vegetable of the day was asparagus, pre cooked mushy mess with absolutely no flavor. Our party got 3 ribeye steaks that were less than 1/2" thick . One had about 1/3 unedible fat and no seasoning. Another was unseasoned and the third seemed to be ok other than being very thin. All were cold (room temp) when served as if they were left on the counter too long before serving. The waitress did not stop back to check if our food was ok and we never saw a manager. It wasn't even that busy since we saw several employees just hanging out by the entrance. It cost $26 for each steak dinner and our entire visit was very disappointing. The menu looked good so we tried it. The service was good, the food was terrible. I had the rib eye. It was paper thin. Advertised as 12 oz. Not even close. Tough, tasteless with lots of gristle. The sweet potato was mush. The brussel sprouts were ok. Husband had Shrimp 3 ways. The scampi had 2 little shrimp on it, the coconut shrimp was 2 tiny shrimp in a huge wad of batter with no coconut and the grilled shrimp were tiny, too. Way, way too expensive for what it was. We have been to Kane's cattle several times. Food is good but service is always horrible. We keep trying, We want to like this place. It has potential to be a good and prestigious restaurant. They ran out of champagne during brunch. She didn't ask to take our food order. We just had to leave somewhere else. I asked for my steak bloody, medium rare but closer to rare and I got a well done steak.. then I sent it back and got a medium steak as a replacement. Their ribeye is extremely fatty and so thin that it's always going to be over done and the fat is not rendered, it's tough and awful and I wish two people in my party didn't waste their money on it. For a steakhouse, this was a massive disappointment.. couldn't believe me and another person sent back our steaks only to get the same issue with the refires. Staff friendly, steaks super disappointing. Ribeyes are 1/2 in at best and just overall sad. You shouldn't be able to get a better steak at Applebee's or Chillis than you can at a place called "cattle company" but you can. Food is McDonalds quality at steak house prices. Sorry to report a terrible experience. Our party ordered a filet, ribeye and NY strip. All overdone. Sent back the filet to be remade, turned out great. Sent the ribeye back and the server brought the ribeye back and said " the kitchen said this is med rare". No remake was offered. Appetizers were delivered without plates or silverware. Bread was delivered after our meals were finished and we had to ask for it twice. Baked potatoe had a hair in it. Service very slow. My husband and I and two friends decided to try Kanes Cattle for dinner on Friday night, October 21. The first table we were seated at had quite a downdraft from the air conditioning duct right above us and our server was very good about allowing us to move to another table. Our server was now Jessica and she was wonderful...Johnny on the spot with drink orders then kept us updated on the status of our food order, and checked on us from time to time. My husband & I stopped in for lunch for somewhere new. This is not your typical chain steakhouse food! Top notch quality, service and menu. The atmosphere could use a little jujjing up, however it's very clean with welcoming staff. We had the bruschetta and baked Brie for apps. We decided to try Kane's and boy were we glad. Our server was Mike and he took great care of us. We ordered a couple appetizers and bloody marys. We love calamari and theirs is the best we've had in years. We also love charcuterie and ordered a meat cheese combo. Mike was very knowledgeable and explained what everything was. My only complaint is that the bread was so hard it hurt my mouth. Other than that, it was fantastic. The manager came over and offered us a seafood scampi plate that was to be the dinner special the chef makes early every day. All 6 of us were very disappointed in meal and service. Server was not attentive at all and place was not busy. We had no clue where she was had to get manager to complain about steaks not cooked, overcooked, empty glasses not filled, and side dishes were wrong. We had seen the good reviews for this restaurant so we really wanted to like it, but I'm afraid we didn't for more than one reason. We definitely understand that restaurants are having trouble finding and keeping help now days, so we are adapting to the slower service because the wait staff are serving many more patrons now. Before I note the food issues, let me tell you that their dinner rolls and the side Caesar salad were very good. Now for the issues - My husband had a steak that was nothing special and barely warm in temperature. We both had the Brussels sprouts side and they were very close to almost cold. I had the crab cakes (and yes, one shouldn't order seafood in a steak restaurant) and they were OK, but definitely not made with lump crab and had lots of filler. As soon as we got our food, a fly started flying around our food and after 5 minutes or so, it landed in my drink (I took a picture)! At this point, we just wanted to finish the meal and move on, so I didn't want another drink. I'll admit, I don't like seeing flies in a restaurant so that was a real put-off. Honestly, it is pretty rare for us to have something bad happen to our meal or drink in a restaurant, but the few times it has, the wait staff have always offered something to make it right. Our waitress didn't even say she was sorry it happened! Most times, we'll give a restaurant a second chance if our first experience isn't good, but we both decided we are done with this one. I had the chicken and let me say it was the most moist chicken I ever had out. The side were good and a good portion. Wife had filet streak and was really juice and cooked to perfection. The daughter had the special which was a NY strip with a expresso sauce, which was great. Desert was good chocolate cake, Texas size! Price was average and not over the top for a steakhouse. After waiting 30+ minutes to be seated, watching other couples get seated before us, not being offered to sit outside which it looks like would have faster we finally got a booth. We ordered our food and waited....and waited....and waited. Another 30+ minutes pass and the food is brought out. Everything, including the rolls, were burnt or overdone. I sent my plate back and said just cancel it because the whole experience was terrible. My husband asked to speak to a manager and we waited for him. While waiting we paid the check, my meal was taken off but we paid for my husbands. Again, we waited, and waited and waited. The manager was even walking by us and would make eye contact with me. He never came to us so we just left so I have time to actually get something to eat. The rolls, salad and potatoes were delish. The constructive criticism would be the crab cakes were flavorful but tepid when served.
