Avoid This Place - Check Your Bill Carefully My wife went to Kang's Korean restaurant at Rio just to get hot water and ordered a $22 kimchi soup for takeout. When signing the bill, she noticed they charged $32 plus expected tip. When questioned, staff casually admitted it was a wrong charge, but refused to reverse the card payment. Instead, they offered two bottles of water to make up the difference. We later realized the receipt they gave us was not a proper itemized copy. When we went back asking for the other receipt, staff first claimed they threw it away, then reluctantly handed it over. The merchant copy had already been signed, with the tip line left blank -- which felt very suspicious. We crossed it out, documented everything, and reported it to the hotel. It's not about the $10. The marinated me to specially were quite enjoyable, and there are plenty of complimentary side dishes that you can order that come alongside. Service was okay, but they were kind of slow to get our orders. However they did help grill some of our meats whenever we ordered a lot. One thing I did not like at the end, was that the waiter stood and waited for us to pay the tip. Although the 20% is the suggested tip, they pretty much required us to pay that full amount and even count in the amount we had given in front of us to make sure we gave it to them. Anything short, and they started to complain saying that this is how they make their money. The lighting wasn't the greatest in my honest opinion, I wish there was a bit better lighting since it was somewhat dim. However the lighting was still enough for us to eat. Sometimes it may be hard to tell if the meat was fully cooked or not though. It was overall a good place, but definitely on the pricey side. It's starting to feel like the Rio is overpromising and underdelivering on pricey food. Not to refer to other restaurants too much, but the Rio also has an American spot known for quantity over quality, a Mexican spot that underwhelmed me last time, a massive but often quite empty dim sum place. And a steakhouse that they closed to replace. And they have Kang's Kitchen, which was the only real option for me after weekend and convention traffic made the wait times unbearable at my first two options. Luckily, we we able to be seated promptly, and we started to go over the menu. Although they do have an all you can eat option ($58.88), we decided to go with the 2 Combo ($118.88) since we collectively weren't all that hungry. It's designed for two people, but it fed three of us just fine with the 6 proteins and endless banchan (sides). The brisket was in many ways just the best option. It cooked the quickest and went well with any sauces, and I combined it with the unusual corn tortilla option, usual pink radish, and one or two of the sauces (mostly the ssamjang and the sweet glaze) to form a surprisingly fun taco. The boneless galbi was not marinated enough, which simultaneously led to an unimpressive flavor profile and insufficient tenderization. I don't really even remember the finger rib, and all I was drinking was their refreshing iced water. The pork neck and seasoned pork neck were nice, but they cooked them both at once - did I mention they actually cook for you here? - which made them hard to distinguish. The pork belly was not bad for being one of the regular (relatively thick) cuts. There are a wide array of other options. The steamed egg impressed me the most. The japchae (glass noodle) underwhelmed me with its lack of sesame oil. For that matter, there wasn't sesame oil with the dipping salt in our sauce trays. I would've asked for some but the brisket, which it probably best pairs with, evaporated a little quickly. The chopsticks are a little unwieldy due to their flatness. We're all experienced chopsticks users and each had varying levels of difficulty using these oddly shaped utensils. The decor is fine. It's a little less industrial and a little more focused on lighter woods than typical Korean decor. There are fun cartoons on one wall, and photos of raw meat on its counterpart. I couldn't tell you that I remembered any of the music at all. Overall, I appreciated the availability of this restaurant on a busy evening, as well as their compatibility with Rio Rewards, but the quality and pricing both pale in comparison to other options available in Las Vegas, many of which are not far away on Spring Mountain Rd. I'm leaning closer to a 3.5 star for this place. It's cute and has nice decorations on the wall are nice to stare at, especially as you wait for the staff to assist you. They are very busy and I ultimately can't fault them as they were still nice and tried to help when they could. They switched the grill out multiple times which was great. You will need to be/have someone with you that is the type to call out for help, as ringing the help button will leave you waiting for a long time. The quality of the meat was good for the AYCE. It's a small but good menu. The staff does however bring you kind of anything and not exactly what you ask for if you have a bigger party. I honestly wasn't sure at one point what they were bringing because we'd ask for the X item once, get the meat and when we asked for X item again they'd bring something completely different. I'm not the pickiest person so it didn't matter to me, I was just happy they brought something. Price is obviously pretty high. I think for where it's at, it was a good cost for what you get. I think you could also go ten minutes off away and ultimately spend less for better quality and service even with the Uber costs included. Probably wouldn't come back if I had a choice but wouldn't be against going back if someone prefers to eat at the hotel. read more

I was very happy with my experience at Kang's Kitchen. We were seated immediately and had great service. You can't go wrong with any of their meats but I would recommend that ones that are already marinated for the best flavor. For my party of 4, they gave us two dishes of banchan (3 different kinds of kimchi, potato salad, bean sprouts, salad, stew, etc.). I wish they had cheese corn but other than that, they had a great selection of side dishes. Also, I know we're in Vegas, but the AYCE price was something close to $65/person which is crazy pricey IMO. They have a clean restaurant and fun paintings on the wall. Came for Father's Day and I have to say it is an amazing spot for Korean BBQ. The meats were delicious, tender and the quality is top notch. As usual it comes with side dishes which were equally as amazing. The kimchi and japchae were a family favorite with mine being the steamed egg as a side and the green onion salad. The pork neck was the family's favorite meat along with the steak cubes. The ambience was very cozy and elegant and the service was one of the best we've had. Our party of four enjoyed the all-you-can-eat optional before seeing Penn And Teller. I liked the restaurant, but the smell of secondhand cigarette smoke in the Rio hotel/casino was bad. It was significantly worse than the Aria/Vdara/Bellagio area where we were staying and spent most of our vacation.. I don't know how the casino companies get away with exposing their employees to the risk of second hand smoke. It is a fact that second hand smoke can increase the risk of both lung and breast cancers. But I digress. Back to Kang's. Food and service were great. I liked that the staff helped with the cooking, and that moved dinner along. I also like the grill setup. Cooking was done on stainless steel grates that were easily changed out as they became charred from the cooking. Above each grill is an exhaust vent that can be adjusted to be closer or further from the grill. The all-you-can-eat includes beef, pork, and chicken, but no seafood. I've been craving Korean BBQ for awhile now but couldn't decide on a new place to try. We've been to a couple on Spring Mountain but just haven't found "the one" that's keeps us coming back. Well now we have Kang's Kitchen! We were actually doing a staycation at the Rio to check out the renovations and there was Kang's...staring me in the face and just begging me to check them out! We went Saturday night at about 5 PM and had 5 in our party. There were plenty of tables open and no wait at all. A few more tables filled up while we were there but still far from full. The staff was very friendly and super helpful with the menu and choices. We wanted the all you can eat Korean BBQ which was $49 per person, but she gave us military discount and children's rate for my daughter. My granddaughter was also with us and they brought her out small bowls of noodles and other items at no charge for her. The selections here and quality of the meat were incredible, along with all of the sides and sauces that they brought out with everything. Ssamjang paste is my absolute favorite from my time in Korea and they made sure I always had plenty! Our server was from Korea herself, and very nice. Like the traditional restaurants in Korea, she was very attentive. She would put our choices of meat on the grill, turn it when it was ready and then cut it all up with scissors to serve each of us...just like in Korea! She never let our plates or the grill get empty either...every time she would put meat on the grill she would ask us what we wanted for the next order so there was never a wait! We had a fantastic experience at Kang's Kitchen, it is a beautiful new restaurant with wonderful staff and incredible food. I came here a few years ago and recently on a summer weekend. The time I went a few years ago, I came during dinner and I recall ordering a combo menu. I was disappointed since it was over $100 and the amount and size of the meat from that combo was small. I remember wishing that I didn't splurge on that combo, but instead ordered something different. Recently, I came in late at night on the weekend and needed a late dinner. This was the only spot nearby that was open and had some appeal for what I was craving. However you could only order the fried rice dishes (and nothing else on the menu), so I ended up getting a beef bulgogi fried rice. It wasn't bad for around $20 and was very filling. I also paired it with a strawberry soju, which was around $17. In hindsight, I probably should've asked / checked the price, since I probably would not have ordered it if I knew it was $17. I had a nice waiter/host, who made sure to refill on my sides. I think the service in general is pretty hands off with the occasional check-in. The restaurant aesthetics are pretty and nice to look at, and thus, has an upscale vibe to it. It's probably one of my go-to's when staying at the Rio. Since Rio is off the strip / across the highway, it's not likely that I would go out of my way while on a Vegas trip to come here unless I was staying at the Rio. I'd put it at a 3.5/5. I think it'd be more worth if you get the ACYE or some of the dishes/plates that aren't expensive. Also note you won't be able to add points to your Caesar's Rewards. read more

It's funny. But we Koreans are very picky about Korean food! But this place did not disappoint! My friend and I went with the $50 all you can eat in 90 min, deal. It was definitely worth it. Being from NY this was a no brainer. Very cute and welcoming place. Lots of tables and plan for your meals to be cooked right at your table. The meats all were good quality and tasty. Cooked right at your table!!! Sooo good the aroma!!! Definitely more than enough to fill you up. It was funny watching the staff each following one another and constantly checking and turning your meat on the grill. Plenty of small plates , had to ask specifically for radish kimchi. But it was all good. A little disappointed with the soup. It was a VERY small portion. But still good. Need some lettuce to wrap it all in!!!! The staff was very friendly. Staying in the Rio Hotel in Las Vegas, so we decided on eating at Kang's Kitchen. We decided to eat the AYCE option at $48.88. While I believe there are less expensive AYCE places, we really enjoyed the food (meats included beef, pork, and chicken), ban chans with fresh green salad, steamed egg, Army stew, and a bowl of rice for each of us when offered. The ladies were very helpful in cooking the meats for us, but we were encouraged to take over the cooking duties as well if we wanted. We ordered the kalbi, teri chicken and pork belly. A generous portion of each meat was brought out to us. We could have ordered more, but we were very comfortable with our meal so decided we were good to go, even though our servers were more than happy to bring us more meats.
