Goya Gukbap has such a cozy mom-and-pop feel. I felt like I was eating at grandma's house. I'm not Korean, but when you walk in and see plenty of Korean customers eating here, that's usually a pretty good sign. The banchan was delicious, and the individual rice pots immediately reminded me of my time in Korea. The galbi was seasoned just right, and the tofu soup was comforting and flavorful. And of course, the Kooksoondang Makgeolli sparkling rice wine had to be served in a brass bowl. Nothing overly fancy. Just warm, comforting Korean food that feels homemade. Third Visit - Another Good Korean Meal at Doya We went back to Doya this weekend for our third visit, and this time we ordered the Korean-style fried chicken and soondae rice soup. As I expected from my previous experiences with their soups, the soondae rice soup was very good. It was served nice and hot, along with the hot stone rice, which made the meal even more enjoyable. The soup continues to be one of the things I really like about Doya. The Korean-style fried chicken, however, was a little different from what I expected. The chicken was served very hot, crispy on the outside, and soft and juicy inside. I also thought it was interesting that the plate came with only wings and drumsticks. I was expecting a more typical combination of chicken pieces, such as legs, thighs, and other parts, like you often get at other Korean fried chicken restaurants. The chicken also came with French fries, which were quite crispy and a little darker in color. The fries were actually a bit salty, while the chicken itself was almost the opposite--it was a little too bland for my taste. I usually don't like food that is overly salty, but I think the chicken could have used a little more salt and perhaps some pepper or additional seasoning. The chicken itself was cooked very well; it just needed a little more flavor. That said, I think it's important to remember that Doya is an authentic Korean restaurant, not a restaurant specializing in fried chicken. So I wouldn't judge the restaurant based on the fried chicken alone. Overall, I still really like Doya and enjoy coming back to try different dishes. The soondae rice soup, in particular, continues to be a favorite of mine. Looking forward to trying something else on our next visit! So good! Some of the highlights: - Eundaegu jorim (cod braised in a mildly spicy sauce with radish, tofu, onions): this is actually so hard to find in Vegas, so we had to get it. It was SO GOOD. A very good portion of cod, not too spicy, not too salty. - mul naengmyun: different than what I'm used to, but in a good way! The broth was slightly sweet. The noodles were a lot chewier than buckwheat noodles, which I really loved. - the rice: they have white rice and purple rice, both of which are served in pressure cookers. They scoop it from the pressure cooker into a bowl at your table and let the burnt rice sit with water at your table while you eat so you can enjoy nurungji at the end. Service was super quick as well! They gave us a kimchi pancake on the house. The restaurant is decorated well with a lot of Korean cultural things. I'm excited this restaurant is here and I hope it's here to stay! read more

Doya Gukbap is a fantastic Korean restaurant located in Chinatown. You'll find them on Spring Mountain and Arville near Shanghai Plaza, across Mama Chai's. There's plenty of parking. Grand opening was on July 1, 2026. Inside is cozy and has an inviting atmosphere with good seating and awesome K-pop music playing on TV. I was listening to Blackpink "Pink Venom," a fierce and powerful song. Table is set up with condiments including salt, vinegar, red pepper, and black pepper. There's a built-in drawer on the side where you can access utensils and napkins. A clean table space is amazing, and keeping these items organized in a drawer looks neat and tidy, it's great! Complimentary Korean tea is served and it's good! I opted for iced cold water. Menu offers a nice selection of appetizers, noodles, meals, special, combos, and drinks. They also have breakfast special starting at $9.99 from 6am to 10am. I ordered Fried Dumplings (8 pieces, $10.99), it was delivered beautifully golden crispy, inside has ground meat, veggies, and noodles, served with a light sweet dipping sauce, absolutely delicious! Stone Pot Bibimbap ($17.99) is very good and filling! Hot and freshly cooked with crispy rice at the bottom, there's various veggies such as carrots, zucchini, mushrooms, bean sprouts, and spinach, topped with fried egg, seaweed, and served with chili pepper paste. Cindy is nice and showed me the proper way to eat hot stone bibimbap. Traditionally, you add red chili paste (gochujang) and mix the fried egg, vegetables, and rice thoroughly with a spoon, letting the rice crisp against the piping hot stone pot, and then eating it straight from the bowl. The meal comes with a good serving of banchan (Korean side dish), which includes sweet fish cake, crunchy radish kimchi, fresh kimchi, sweet pickled cucumber with crisp onions, steamed cabbage, and chili pepper sauce. Service from Cindy is very kind, welcoming, courteous, attentive, and friendly! Also met Jin the owner, she came by my table to say hello, she's so nice! Overall, the food at Doya Gukbap is excellent, has wonderful flavor, and is amazingly delicious! This new Korean restaurant replaced the previous Korean-Chinese restaurant, and I really like what they've done with the space. The interior has been nicely renovated and now has a much more authentic Korean vibe. Service was friendly and attentive as well. The fried chicken was especially good--crispy, flavorful, and definitely something I'd order again. Overall, the food tastes authentic, so this is a nice place to try if you're looking for traditional Korean flavors rather than Americanized Korean food. I just wish they served the classic Korean pickled radish with the fried chicken--it really feels like a must-have! The side dishes could also be a little better and more varied. Doya Jjamppong recently changed its name to Doya Gukbap, and I decided to check it out after hearing that they now serve milmyeon (밀면), which is pretty hard to find in the U.S. The first thing that stood out was the unique interior, which incorporates a lot of traditional Korean colors and design elements. The staff was also very friendly and welcoming. We ordered the Pork Galbi & Noodles Set (돼지갈비+밀면, $29.99), a small Mixed Sundae Plate (순대접시(섞어), $17.99), and the Assorted Pork & Offal Rice Soup (섞어국밥, $18.99). Everything was delicious, but the pork galbi was especially impressive. It was honestly the best pork galbi I've had since moving to the U.S. Each serving of rice comes in an individual pressure-cooked pot, and they provide hot water so you can make nurungji (누룽지) afterward. A small kimchi pancake is also served along with the side dishes. The food was excellent, and the service was just as great. I'll definitely be coming back often! read more

This place is seriously underrated! I'm so glad I tried it. The food was amazing and super authentic. The pork galbi and marinated short rib were both flavorful, juicy, and tender. The pork mandu was genuinely the best mandu I've ever had. The wrapper was super crunchy but the filling was super juicy and flavorful. The banchan was some of the best banchan I've ever had and was even served with a full-size kimchi pancake which I've never seen before. The cold-soaked noodles were very refreshing and delicious. The interior of this restaurant was very interesting as well! The walls had traditional Korean clothing and artwork hung up. There was a display case in the center of the restaurant showcasing more Korean culture. They were playing KPOP on the TVs as well. The two older Korean women working at this establishment were honestly the highlight of this experience. My boyfriend and I are both not Korean so the women took extra time and care to educate us on every dish and to ensure that we thoroughly enjoyed our experience. They checked on us consistently and asked us if we had any questions or concerns quite often. Overall, this place is severely underrated and needs to gain traction soon! read more
