We went here for a late Easter dinner. The place was pretty empty around 10pm, but quickly filled up with families with little kids!! On a Sunday?! Our server, Marvin was great. We've been to this and other Gen locations multiple times, but we have to say that our experience here was excellent. Not only was Marvin attentive, but his recommendations were top notch: the wagyu brisket (full of marbling, flavorful and tender), the marinated skirt steak (marinated in seasonings and garlic and thyme) and the marinated short ribs (idk what the marinade was, but it was bomb, served with a whole green onion). The prices have gone up since they no longer offer the "A menu" and "B menu" which is kind of a good thing, because you only pay the higher price from the old menu (B) and you have access to everything, including the sushi, appetizers and sides. There is so much more that is standard that if you have a good appetite, you'll easily see value in their pricing strategy. Parking, I have to admit, sucks,, since they don't validate and you have to park at the PH parking or the mall parking which is free for the first hour and then $25.00!! for hours 2-3. You can't Zook here either since it's not one of their drop off locations, which is a bummer. But for the excellent service and food, it's worth the parking fee. read more

Their price increase from almost $40 to almost $60 brings it on par with other new AYCE brunch and buffet deals on the Strip. ($68 Mott32, $88.88 Genting Palace, $75 Wynn Buffet, $79 Fogo de Chão) Quality-wise I would pay a few dollars more at these other places, however, all the restaurant AYCE brunches are weekends and I only go to Vegas on weekdays. However you slice it, Gen BBQ is an OK deal in today's Vegas if you're a meat eater. The service and speed of order are all good. You're limited to 4 items per order and the meats include filet and ribeye which you won't find at other small-city Gen BBQ's. If you want Prime or A5 Wagyu, go to "Cote" at the Venetian but it will burn a hole in your wallet ($88.88 and they cook for you.) This is probably the worst gen I've ever been to and I've been to over half of them from different cities and states. I was very unimpressed with their sushi and quality of meat. Along with that, the galbi had 0 flavor. I was highly disappointed. I did like the skirt steak quite a bit. For 57$ this was NOT worth it. I understand since its on the strip but you can get so much better flavor and more choices at other gens. The one near my home in san diego is fantastic. They have lots and lots of choices and their marinated meat is flavorful and yummy. I didn't like any of the sushi and even thought china buffet sushi was better. The rice was so mushy and every roll was too busy with green onions. I really did not enjoy the Japanese lasagna. The salmon carpaccio did not taste fresh. The only reason why this place is even OK is bc of the ramyan. Im glad they had that bc it saved the day with my experience today. It was very decent but not great bc it is highly bland. My server was really nice and she changed our grill very often. She was on it! I think the inside of this gen is very nice and modern. I like the layout and furniture. We had a solid meal at Gen Korean BBQ in Las Vegas. It's an AYCE affair offering meat selections, appetizers, and sushi options. Everything we ordered was delicious! I don't think there's a wrong choice...! Cooking the assortment of meats on the tabletop grill produced great smells throughout the meal, and the staff swapped out the grill plate with each course, which kept things clean and efficient. Service was good and attentive. We only made it through six meat selections, a side of gyoza, and a California hand roll before we were completely stuffed. We've been here a few times and it looks like the price has nearly doubled. It is $56 now since sushi items and ramen options have been added to their menu. Reservations highly recommended because it can get busy during peak hours. It is one of the few restaurants open late so I do appreciate that. The cuts were decent quality IMO compared to other Gen locations I've been to. Management seriously needs to step up and staff appropriately. I could tell immediately that they were severely understaffed. Waiters and front house were running around and doing the best they could while being super nice to everyone. We went to eat Korean barbecue here at 12 PM when it opened on a Saturday. We were the first people in the restaurant so we got a good seat at booth. The service was OK. They came by to ask us several times if we needed anything, but we did have to remind them about a few dishes that were missing and some of the dishes came out a little bit slower than we thought. As for the food itself, it tasted fine. I wish there was a little bit more variety in the menu like I've seen at other barbecues, especially with the sushi and side dishes. But overall it was good. No complaints about the food at all. We made a reservation OpenTable so we didn't have to wait, but we probably didn't need it because it wasn't busy at 12 PM. I bet this place gets really busy at night because it seems more like a nightlife type of restaurant. We use the bathrooms which were semi clean. I expected them to be much more clean because the restaurant just opened and near the first people to use it but it looks like it might not have been cleaned since the night before. Overall, it was OK. we didn't buy the premium meal because we didn't eat all that stuff. We just bought the regular meal which was $35 plus per person. We bought a Ramen for our six-year-old and we had asked the server if it would be spicy and he told us it would not be spicy, but when it came, it was very very spicy. so we wasted $10 on Ramen that my child didn't eat. Luckily, I brought a bento box for him to eat in case it didn't work out, so he just ate his packed lunch and we threw away the whole Ramen. That was probably the biggest disappointment that we had to pay for it. But we did have a gift card which is why it wasn't the biggest deal but we couldn't pay the tip with the gift card so now we just had $12 on our gift card because we weren't able to spend everything there. read more

Last night, my husband and I were starving after walking around the mall, so we decided to eat at Gen. The wait was quick--about 15 minutes, which was great. When we were seated, we were pleasantly surprised to see our server was Gaven, who used to work at Gen in Hawaii. It felt like a little piece of home, and we were so happy he was taking care of us. The food was delicious, and the service was on point. One thing I really appreciated--our drinks were never empty (that's a big pet peeve of mine). The food kept coming out consistently, and even though it was busy, Gaven made sure to check in on us regularly. Having someone from Hawaii serve us made the experience even more special--it truly felt like five-star service. We will definitely be back whenever we're in Las Vegas. Really disappointing visit. The entire wait staff is severely inattentive with no sense of customer service at all. Me and two other parties were waiting at the hostess staff for over 15 minutes with many employees making eye contact and passing us by without acknowledging us. Someone in our party finally had to flag down the manager Damaris, who then sat us. It then took an additional 10 minutes for our order to be taken. No one paying attention to us otherwise. The 90 min limit must be there because they want you to leave hungry maybe even starving. You receive only 3 sides that were mediocre at best. The meat comes out at a slllllllow roll. Like one kind every 10 minutes. We requested three at a time and ended 4-5 total in well over an hour. Wrong items delivered as well. My beverage never came. We left hungry because the food was so slow you would never have been filled. For about $20 more a person than normal I couldn't even call the food average. Not Vegas type service or Vegas type food. Arriving at 12 noon when they open, we were quickly seated where Natasha our server explained the menu to us. The space is very big. We were hungry but not so hungry so we didn't do the all you can eat Korean BBQ. We had the all you can eat Izakaya and Sushi. I have to say the Izakaya is better than the Sushi. The standouts on the Izakaya menu were the spicy rice cakes, soondobu, gyoza, chicken, and fried rice. The sushi was mediocre at best, there was way too much rice in all the sushi and hand rolls we ordered. I would stick with the carpaccio. Our server was friendly and attentive. Food items that were supposed to be crunchy were. Great flavors and textures. Meats: were great quality, very decent sized portions. The tuna carpaccio was phenomenal!! Kimchi fried rice: great flavor and texture of rice. Cooking disks: typically you have to ask for the heat to be turned up, down or for it to be changed... WE HAD THE PERFECT TEMP THE ENTIRE TIME!!! Never once did we have to ask for our disk to be changed!!! Service: Steve was our server. He absolutely KILLED service! I have not had service this good in years!!! He explained the menu, gave phenomenal recommendations according to the palate of each guest, he didn't forget a thing, this was the most attentive service ever provided!!! Steve has an EXTREME ability to deliver where almost every other server on the planet fails, the simple basics of customer service. Not leaning over a glass, moving items around to better fit like a puzzle, making sure everything was delivered repeatedly. Then Steve took the time to cut the bone from our long bone, move our meat around and organized it, making room for the long bone meat explaining it would take too long and shorten our service and our time, he wanted the meat to cook faster to enhance our dining experience. I caught him pushing back a dish as he walked by that was near an edge almost without even noticing himself, like it was just in him, part of breathing. SMALL DETAILS MATTER!! Straw wrappers being removed from the table matter. Tilting a plate to prevent the chopsticks from being knocked over matter. These were all things that were just in him to catch, notice, fix and move on to prevent the next spill, disaster or upset customer. Small talk was made still even through all his hustle and bustle. Incredibly disappointing. We had a reservation for Valentine's Day. We were about 10 min late, it was hard to find the resturant and traffic was a mess. We checked in with the hostess. She told me it would be a few minutes to clear a table. We waited for 10, my wife then asked again. The hostess clearly angry basically yelled at her that there were three parties ahead of us and to wait. My life was more than a bit upset. This kind of behavior is absolutely unacceptable under any circumstances, especially to a customer. Needless to say we found another resturant and will never dine at a Gen Korean again. So my wife and I just arrived in Vegas for a mini vacation and we just arrived, checked into our hotel and made it to Gen Korea inside Miracle Mile strip. We had reservations so they sat us quickly enough and our server Ashley was quick to take our drink order and run us through the menu and how it works. Hey, $35.99 per person and it was totally worth it. We chose 4 proteins,4 appetizers, one sushi roll and soon, the feast began. It was fun grilling your own meats and the kimchi and pickled cucumbers they give you are amazing. The sushi was delightful as was the soy KFC chicken. Place had tons of tables with lots of space which is something most K BBQ places struggle with is space Our server was very cordial, helpful and very attentive. The selection for their regular menu was priced just right with rib eye and filet mignon as meat choices as well as an extensive menu of sushi and hand rolls as part of the meals. They have an extensive cocktail menu and fun soju based drinks. I had the cucumber mint soju lemonade which was so refreshing in the crazy Vegas heat. Everything was so good! First let me start off with something good to say. The best thing I can recommend about Gen Korean BBQ is the staff. They are definitely efficient and helpful. Our server Cody was quick to serve and attentive. The ambience was lively, and it was clear people were enjoying their meal. But here's the thing, as a Korean American, I was embarrassed that this place is calling itself a Korean BBQ house. First to start, there were 4 sad banchan (side dishes), and then when they dropped off the dipping tray, for your meat, it was already a sign of the direction how the rest of the meal was going to go. If you don't know Korean BBQ, it should be all about the simplicity of the grilled meat, with salt & pepper, Sesame Oil, and ssamjang (red chili paste/fermented bean paste - trust me a delicious Korean dip). We did not get sesame oil, it's some kind of cheap substitute oil, looking more like canola oil. Next the meat and grilling experience, we didn't get a piece of lard to grease the pan, so the bulgogi we started grilling, just stuck and burned to the pan. I thought the bulgogi would be fatty enough that it wouldn't be a problem, but it still got stuck. It wasn't due to the heat, because it was low. Any lower and it would be off. In a lot of cases, the meat quality wasn't there, with probably the premium meat ribeye being the best. One other note, we had to ask for Tongs to flip the meat and the scissors to cut the meat were so dull, it was almost worthless. The vent pipe was not working, as smoke from the grilled meat was still around us. It was low to the meat, but not sucking in the smoke. We ordered the gyoza -- which seems off, like just call it Mandu, the Korean name, instead of a Japanese name if you're going to call yourself a Korean BBQ -- and it was not visually appealing. It looked like it was just tossed into an air fryer. At least get the bibigo frozen mandu and throw it into an oil fryer. You could order unlimited meat, but be careful, as they will charge you $5 for every untouched meat refill. There was no soft steamed egg, no lettuce for wraps, no onions, mushrooms or garlic to grill either. All of this led to a less than satisfying experience. Having said this, if you don't know good Korean BBQ, then I can see how you might be blown away. It can be a fun experience, and like I said a lot of folks seemed to be enjoying their dinner. For this reason, I'm giving it just 3 stars. The restaurant chain may vary by location, and some may be better than others, but it's doubtful I will ever go back to this chain restaurant. read more
