If I could give 0 stars I would. I literally just returned home from taking my husband there for Father's Day. After walking in, my gut told me to walk back out and take our behinds somewhere else. Always go with your gut. Because the wait on the hibachi side was 1 1/2 hour, we chose the dining room side (you can still order off the hibachi menu). They first tried to seat us at a table that had rice all over the seats. I pointed this out and we were quickly moved to another table. I never saw anyone come back to properly clean the original table. Both my husband and I ordered the Kani Special, which consisted of Hibachi steak, chicken & shrimp with fried rice. It was the most God-awful hibachi that I've ever had. The rice was so overcooked that it had to be old. It was inedible. Each of the meats were absolutely flavorless, no seasoning whatsoever. The veggies looked as if they were not freshly cooked. I would have enjoyed the pretend Hibachi in the mall food court better. We only came here because Kirin House (on Old Peachtree Rd) didn't open until 4:30 unbeknownst to us (Kirin House is ALWAYS on point; don't be put off by the fact that it's a smaller place in a strip mall. Do yourself a favor and GO!). I feel like I've literally flushed money down the toilet. NEVER AGAIN! read more

Just left Kani house and and disappointed. Went there on my husband's birthday told them it was his birthday and they ignored it. In addition when I got my salad it had a hair in it when I made them aware of this they apologized and just brought me another salad. No mention was made of his birthday during the entire meal. Kani House Buford is the best hibachi in North East Georgia. Note I said Kani House Buford, Me and my family have been coming to Kanj House for years the service is by far the best service I've ever had. My family still comes all the way from Austin Texas to eat here. If you get a chance to come ask for Ms Susanti, she's the best waitress by far! So I guess this is a local chain. For Gwinnett, it is a good sushi/hibachi place. They have a lot of variety... too much variety. It's helpful they have pictures for all their sushi rolls, but it was so hard to choose one or two! I ended up choosing the cherry blossom one, because it looked pretty and had contents that I usually like when put together. It was a good roll. It didn't blow me away, but it was a tasty roll. I also got spicy tuna which was really good. It is on the pricier side as far as sushi places in Gwinnett go. They do serve alcohol which may be helpful for some people. It has a good location too right across the street from Mall of GA. Server was pretty nice. She randomly disappeared towards the end of our meal though and I guess the manager closed out our checks for her and didn't know what we got so offered to split our check in half instead of giving us separate checks. Went on Valentine's Day with my boyfriend and we both ordered hibachi chicken & filet mignon. Unfortunately we were seated next to a group who were highly disrespectful yet the manager & waitress were still very kind and made sure we were satisfied. I was very impressed with how they handled the situation, despite it being obvious the other group were not looking for a resolution. Our waitress was VERY nice & I loved having her. The energy and vibe that comes from Kani House can put anyone in a good mood. The people who choose to dine here, and the staff also, all appear to be in a good mood. The portions are huge, every time I go I wish I had shared instead of getting my own dish. The hibachi room is filled with laughter and flames of fire from the grill. The sushi bar and dining room is also available to those who don't want to dine in front of the grill. Only reason I'm giving this place four star is because the sushi is out of this world and they have plenty to choose from. I ordered fried rice.. Never got it. Asked the waitress to bring it out still didn't get it. We went with another couple and the waitress asked if we wanted our bill split and who was paying for the appetizers. However we received one check and was billed for the rice. We had to get the waitress again to take off the rice and split the check. Really should be a 2 or 3 star rating because I hate bad service but the food really was good. read more

I have been going here for over 5 years and tonight it was not the same. It wasn't as clean. The vegetables were always full of fresh zucchini, squash, broccoli but tonight it was full of carrots and onions. The cook told us that a party was coming in at 8 pm and one of the waitresses rudely rushed us out of the hibachi side. She continued to say ok good night see you again while her coworkers laughed. I'm sure they were ready to serve the big Christmas party that probably meant big tip. My thing was plan better so regular customers don't have to be put out. I will be looking for another hibachi restaurant because this one has fallen on cleanliness, food, and service. So disappointed! read more

So Kani House is another hibachi grill, I like their sushi better though. It was my second time at Kani's, and this time i went for the hibachi instead of just the sushi. I got the salmon and n.y steak strip combo and fried rice for the hibachi. In terms of flavors, it isnt bad- but it isnt worth the money. In my opinion, really youre paying to watch your chef cook on a show. Sometimes if youre lucky though, you'll get an entertaining one-otherwise its just someone with no personality. The food just never wows me when it comes to hibachis. Try their sushi rolls though :) read more

2 stars is me being generous. The floor is dirty, my steak was well done when I asked for medium. There was no flavor to the rice or vegetables. I ordered steak, chicken and shrimp. I didn't get the chicken. The cook had no enthusiasm and only spoke in Spanish to the Hispanic guests that shared our table. That's cool and I'm fine with that, but really try to communicate with the rest of the table. read more

Took the family out and they really enjoyed themselves. The kids enjoyed chicken hibachi and my wife the salmon. Myself, I devoured a Bento box. A decent portion of Beef stif fry with steamed rice, shrimp, vegetable tempura, rice balls, California roll along with soup& salad and ice cream for $19. For drink I had a Bahama Mamasana. The atmosphere was great for family and they had a small bar upfront. The food was a lot fresher than some of the lower level hibachi style restaurants in the area. read more

Agree with others. Please is going down hill fast. 1. Hostess needs to go. I have 4 little ones. My youngest 2 and myself were outside sitting on the benches. She wouldn't seat us till we all came inside. Then once at the hostess area. We proceeded to just stand there for 15min. Try doing that with my youngest 2 being 7 and 5 years old. 2. Portions of food for smaller than what they used to be. I've probably eaten hear 50 times in the last 2 years. Always taking food home. Tonight wasn't even full. 3. Waitress holy smokes couldn't even keep drinks filled. Needed to get a different waitress to get us drinks. My recommendation. Find a different Japanese steak house to eat at. read more

Whenever I want a hibachi experience that won't disappoint I will go to kani house. The chef I get here is always entertaining and made sure the party have a great time. The portion of the food is also huge so even if its a higher price than most hibachi place, its good and plenty. I also love their extensive sushi menu. I always get a sushi roll with my hibachi. Love it! I haven't been disappointed but I didn't give this place five stars because the service I get here is inconsistent and alot of the time lacking (from the waitress or waiter). This is a busy, nicely decorated Japanese/Sushi restaurant. I am an aficionado of sushi and in Atlanta every Japanese/Sushi I try is compared to the best I have yet found - Sushi Yoshi (Norcross). The Miso Soup was good (not great) and the house salad small. Excellent was the tempura red snapper that was served as a welcome snack. Kani House's prices are 40% higher that what I pay for sushi/sashimi at Sushi Yoshi and though the portion of fish were large, the quality of was inferior: the salmon was not firm but slightly soft and it had a noticeable grainy texture. I had seven orders of sushi (no drinks) and I paid $33 + tip. Expensive for what I got. read more

This place is great! I am a traveler and my co-workers suggested I come try the sushi. I stopped by for lunch and sat at the sushi bar. The chefs greeted me and provided some sample dishes! I loved their energy and will defiantly be back on my next trip. read more

We used to love this place!! Service was awesome before but seems like they are forgetting what made them great. Server (Jennifer) was rude and in a hurry to leave from the start. She kept slamming items onto the table and overflowed my wife's water without offering to clean it up. She did offer a small apology. Hibachi chef was not very unanimated and not entertaining at all. When I first moved to Buford GA about 3 years ago this place was the best. Me and my wife would go every week just to enjoy their shrimp (orange)(yum yum) sauce. I've traveled the country and have ate at tons of Japanese restaurants and Kani was one of the best. Like a great joke or a perfect jazz song, the value is in the final work....not the pieces. So it's a little disappointing watching someone put my $30 meal together with everyday groceries I have laying around the kitchen. Good food, for me at least, is heightened by the mystique. None the less, the people at Kani were very friendly and hospitable and the guy working the grill made sure we all had fun. There was a host to seat us right as we walked in the door; there wasn't any confusion as to where to go. The waiter was very attentive; and their fish tank doesn't look barren like the customer service over at Sushi Niko Niko. The mood wasn't noisy and the atmosphere was nice and comfortable. Kani House has a wide variety of sashimi choices on the menu; which is always a plus for me. They actually had Sea Urchin on the menu which is surprising because no sushi place ever carries it! I enjoyed the traditional Japanese theme; the waitresses dressed in kimonos which I thought was really cute. Overall, I was very satisfied with my experience and will be coming back! read more

We went to Kani House on 5/29 for a birthday dinner. As usual the food was good but the overall service and chef's performance were lacking. We were seated quickly but instead of asking us to wait 5 minutes, we (a party of 3) were crowded in to an already full table. The server seemed to have an attitude and the "chef's" usual show was like it was his first time. There was not the usual banter between guests and the chef, his food presentation and preparation was actually depressing. One of the biggest reasons we chose Kani House was the "dinner and show" feature. We got a good dinner, reasonable value but a most disappointing show. read more
