A really great happy hour spot that was bustling on a Friday evening but still giving all the Miami vibes. It was the perfect first stop for all our friends to meet before heading on a cruise the next day. We were immediately greeted by very friendly hostesses. They were very communicative as we had a large group of 11 and they reserved the front couch area for our group. As a weekend evening and happy hour, we were given notice of a 2 hour timeframe but that was enough time as the drinks and food came out quickly. We had a res at 6PM which left us an hour to order on the HH menu and it was enough time for us. For a large group, we basically ordered the entire menu, and each dish/drink was pretty tasty. Favorite drinks were the Ume Tonikku and The Buzz! Favorites included: + Oysters - $1 each were so worth it! They were juicy and I liked the toppings of the yuzu basil seeds. + Hiramasa - refreshing and light. The white fish was complimented well with the citrusy flavors. Came with about 6 small pieces ($12) + Kimchi Wagyu Hot Dog ($14) - was very tasty, can't really tell the difference in a wagyu hotdog but it was very juicy and the kimchi relish with gochujang aoili was tasty. May pass for next time: + Wagyu and Foie Gra Gyoza - 4 pieces, hard to taste the foie gras and was more of a ground beef texture. For $22 it was a bit steep but the outside wrapper was fried very nicely. + Salt & Pepper Squid - it's crunch but has a thicker outer layer than others that overpowered the squid. read more

I really liked the ambiance as soon as I walked in! There's a small outdoor seating but the Miami heat was unbearable. There's moment you enter - you walk into the Listening Bar. This was closed off for a private event hosted by Macallan. The dining room is up a white set of stairs. This is restaurant is perfect for happy hour, a nice dinner, Girls Night Out and even a date night. again, I opted for Miami Spice menu with a cocktail that I really enjoyed. I probably shouldn't tell you this, but there exists a place... in Brickell... with a happy hour from 5-7... every day... and it is AMAZING. I had pork bao buns and beef skewers from the happy hour menu that were exceptional. The drinks were better than other drinks I had in the area and they were priced right. My favorite dish was the beef tartare which lists as Angus sirloin, shallot, koji truffle spread, egg yolk, chives, chervil, and a Rosetta baguette. Thank you for existing, KAORI! Only one shared restroom for dining area. Sink was terrible to use hands don't fit between faucet and sink this for very small hands. There were no towel or nap on dispenser the hand dryer was out. Came here for happy hour and was surprised by how empty it was inside. It's a gorgeous restaurant, dark with ambient music that creates a very relaxing and comfortable environment. Parking is tricky but what's new. Cocktails are delicious, I had the Familiar Faces and absolutely would order it again. I also ordered the oysters as well as the wagyu & foie gras gyozas. I love oysters but a few of mine were not shucked properly so I had crunchy shell bits in my mouth which is personally an awful sensation and kind of ruins the whole eating oysters experience. The dumplings are great and beautifully plated but nothing compared to the ones serves at Novikov in downtown Miami. I'm curious to try more items on the menu so I'll probably be back! read more

Lately Mediter-Asian cuisine has been on my top 5 list for fusion food, and I'm happy to say Kaori has mastered it! It was a Thursday night and I was catching up with an old friend so I wanted to choose a place where we could wine and dine well, while also feeling comfortable enough to talk up a storm, luckily this place was it. The dim, romantic feel makes it perfect for a date night or any other special occasion with some friends/fam. For food, we ordered some tapas to share and loved them all! To start we got the mushroom bao buns... AMAZING. The hamachi crudo and octopus skewers came next - the Hamachi crudo was extremely refreshing with its ponzu sake sauce the fish was very fresh. As for the Octopus skewer, I'm usually very picky with octopus but Kaori cooked it to perfection. We both had some wine to drink, which they had a nice selection of. I did take a look at their cocktails and will definitely be ordering some next time I visit. I also really enjoyed that the service at Kaori, all the servers explained the dishes in detail as they placed it on the table - everyone was very attentive and seemed like they really knew what they we're talking about. It doesn't make sense to me how restaurants like this have such good reviews and can charge what they do for mediocre food and very poor service for the price point. Would not recommend coming unless you're charging this meal to your company (or someone else's) dime When our server came over to take our drink order, I asked about the notes, funkiness and flavor profile of one of their orange wines -- all he could share was that it was a skin contact wine (which anyone who drinks wine knows?). And said he'd go check with his manager for more in-depth notes. When he came back to take our full order, he pretended like we didn't ask about the wine so we asked again what his manager said and he walked away again. We had to bombard him to get an answer on this and he never even offered a taste of one of the options they serve in a single glass - I've never experienced this type of alcohol service. I recognize this restaurant and most of the "Asian" ones in Brickell are fusion, but have eaten fusion + regular Korean food my whole life. The bibimbap they have here was probably one of the worst I've ever had -- $28 for the vegetarian option and instead of putting ~1 tablespoon of gochujang on the top they put a HUGE spoonful on the bottom of the rice making it overpowering in terms of flavor profile. read more

Kaori is a relatively new Mediterranean and Asian fusion restaurant located at the SLS Lux in Brickell. The first floor is made up of a bar area with some small tables for seating. Up stairs is the main dining room. The restaurant is beautifully decorated (earthy tones and minimalist) and maximizes the space they have overall. We came here for our first Miami Spice 2021 outing, wanting to try a brand new spot. Reservations were made a couple days in advance without a problem. Within 5 minutes of checking in with the hostess, our table up stairs was ready. The service from beginning to end was exemplary. Our waitress was knowledgeable about the Miami Spice offerings, their drink menu, and ensured that our glasses of water were full the entire night. Kaori definitely has the service aspect down. The atmosphere of Kaori trendy, which is fine but we found the music a tad too loud. I had to move next to my girlfriend in order to continue our conversation, as we had a hard time hearing each other from across the table with the music blaring. Toning down the volume two notches or so would go a long way. As far as the food items go, everything tasted EXCELLENT but was on the smaller side. We left content but not exactly full, which is a bit disappointing considering the price of Miami Spice menus increased this year. Nonetheless, the quality of the food itself was delicious. For appetizers, we ordered the Braised Short Rib Dumplings and the Yellow Fin Tuna Tar Tar. We are suckers for anything short rib and these were excellent. The dumplings were perfectly crunchy (not burnt) and adequately filled with meat. The house made dipping sauce (like an olive oil foam of sorts) was delicious. The Yellow Fin Tuna Tar Tar was fresh and a welcome change from some of the other raw fish we've consumed. Our main courses consisted of the Mediterranean Octopus with Paprika Aioli and Roasted Hearts of Palm, and Braised Short Rib with Green Pea purée and Candied Carrots. Both dishes were excellent and good displays of Kaori's creativity (especially with the green pea purée and candied carrots). The Octopus dish was so tender! Our only wish was that the portion sizes were larger. Both dessert choices were excellent and satisfied our sweet tooth. Just like we are suckers for short rib, we are suckers for matcha. If we had to pick which of the two dessert stood out to us more, it would be the Matcha 3 Leches. We capped off dinner with an order from the cocktail menu. The Karajillo cocktail was the perfect drink to cap off the evening. Made with Espresso, Mezcal, Okinawa Sugar, and Salted Milk Ice, it was the perfect blend of sugar, salt, and caffeine. A lot was going on in that glass, but it went perfectly together! It is definitely a must re-order! All in all, I enjoyed our dinner at Kaori. I just wish the portions of the food, especially for the increased price of Miami Spice menu this year (and pricing in general) was a bit bigger, and that they'd turn down the volume of the music they're playing so conversations could be easier to have amongst patrons. The service was definitely on point, as was the quality of the food and the cocktail we had. It is a good addition to the Brickell dining scene! Kaori first off has the latest happy hour (until 8, even Friday) in Brickell. I had green curry fish of the day with seasonal veggies in the curry and it was fantastic. My wife had the filet which came sliced and was cooked to perfection and melted in the mouth like butter. We also split one of the salads and it too was amazing and big enough to split. Service is great and bottled wine prices are marked up much less than other locations. The ambiance is very cool downstairs in the bar and upstairs in the dining room overlooking S Miami Ave. I've also had most of the happy hour snacks if not all and they are excellent and also priced nicely. Lastly there is a DJ playing various types of music that fits with the bar and dining room vibe. Kaori will be a regular location for us. read more

This place has a cool vibe, I loved the origami lights by the bar. All the drinks were good, the most unique one we had was the Karajillo. It has some sweet ingredients but with the smokey mezcal, it balances perfectly, and I'm not usually a mezcal person. It's tapas style, so it's fun to order a bunch of plates for the table and try a little of everything. Service was good, anyone that walked by was knowledgeable and helpful. The hamachi is a must-try! Would also recommend the fried short rib dumplings, charred octopus, yuzu prawns, and prime beef. But every single app we had was tasty, so you can't go wrong here. We ordered the sea bass and short rib for the large plates, with brussel sprouts and mushrooms on the side, as it was recommended by our waiter. Everything was so delicious and flavorful. Both the sea bass and short rib were melt in your mouth anazingness. It was quieter when we arrived on Saturday, but all the tables were filled by 8:30. My husband and I came here for a date night, and to try the Miami Spice menu! We headed there a bit earlier to grab happy hour at their bar - they have $7 cocktails and $5 wine/beer, plus a variety of their tapas at smaller portions. The bartender charged us for the full-price food items (octopus and salmon), but she remedied it before even handing us the bill. (For Brickell, this is such a reasonable happy hour and we will definitely be back for post-work drinks some day!) Then, we moved upstairs for dinner. I'm glad we had happy hour before because the portions are definitely on the smaller side. But WOW were they so so good. This review is long overdue! I stayed in Brickell for 5 weeks for work when I stumbled upon Kaori during my first few days there. Well... I ended up dining here about 17 times during those 5 weeks. It became my go-to for good food, drinks, and ambiance. Their happy-hour, by far, is the best in Brickell (and Ive tried most of them). Their oysters are the best, being small and seasoned to perfection. Their kimchi hotdog is, without a doubt, the best hotdog I've ever had. The La Ji Zi is so unique and really satisfies my for Szechuan Chili's. Cocktails are very unique. Definitely some of the most memorable cocktails I've tried. Everyone who works there is amazing. Our server, Dylan, was attentive and explained the menu to us thoroughly. I love how we didn't feel rushed. For drinks we ordered the La Cura and Isan Daiquiri-- both were pleasantly good. If you like a hot kick, I recommend opting in for La Cura! For food we ordered the Grouper Tempura, Spicy Udon Noodles, and Pork Belly Rice. Again, everything was delicious and the presentation of each dish was stunning. I HIGHLY recommend ordering the Grouper Tempura if you dine here! Everything we ordered was sharable and we had food leftover. I will say, Kaori is on the pricer side so be prepared to spend money. My only complaint was that there were two boys (I won't give them credit by calling them men) who appeared to be belligerent arguing loudly and obnoxiously. They were throwing F bombs and during a few instances they got in each others face. I think the proper thing the restaurant should have done was to kick them out as they were disturbing the peace. The manager gave them about two or three chances rather than kicking them out after the first warning that was given. I was here for an event, so we had "bites" of a number of items on the menu and some that are not. What did we taste ... Bluefin Tuna Sashimi, Watermelon "Tuna," Lucky Lime Oysters, Wokked Red Belgium (endive), and Blue Oyster and Trumpet Mushrooms. Everything was delicious. Each dish has all sorts of ingredients making up the sauces, but it's difficult to taste the separate pieces - they all merged into a whole flavor, each one different. The oysters were juicy with a very tasty minionette. The tuna was nice and tender. I do not eat watermelon and this one really tasted and had the consistency of tuna. The mushrooms were the best, had the consistency and bit of meat. The drink service was a bit slow because it came from downstairs to upstairs. I don't think the cocktails we had were on the menu. We got the pork belly baos (2 pieces for $13), crispy prawns (3 pieces for $12), blue oyster and trumpet mushrooms ($13), and spicy udon noodles ($16). For dessert we got a five spice egg custard ($10) and a key lime tart ($10). The food is packed full of flavour. I couldn't stop talking about how good the food was.
