I've been shopping here for years, and I must say that this is one of all time favorite shops. They have a huge selection of what I listen to, music that is very hard to find anywhere else besides Amoeba. One of the last music shops in LA County, and one of the best for sure. The owner is extremely cool. He has a lot of patience cause I always go in there with a lot of questions about various kinds of music, and he gladly answers with helpful info. Highly recommended place to shop for 70s punk, rock, 80s, psychobilly, and a good vaiety of awesome band tees and collectibles. I finally found the hardcore mom and pop record shop of my dreams. It might not seem like a big store, but I get lost in there for hours on in. Everything is amazing and super reasonable. So my wife goes to this yoga place in this parking place and told me there was what looked like a record store. Knowing me very well and my vinyl fetish I have, I finally went this past Sunday. I looked through all the records they had. And although I only purchased 3, I would have probably taken 5 to 7 more. I also purchased 2 posters of The Smiths. So as I was getting ready to pay at the register I started making small talk with Ray and I come to find out he was the part owner of my ultimate favorite place that had disappeared long ago; "Hot Rocks". I was thrilled to say the least. I used to frequent Hot Rocks soo many times in the late 90's. its where I purchased all those original large imported posters of the Smtihs and The Cure. soo many CD's and shirts and was so bummed when it just disappeared. I used to think Covina was so far away.. coming from El Sereno; it was! Forward 20 years, I now live in Covina, married and have 2 awesome little boys. Plenty of posters for either $7, $8 or $12 (for huge sizes)! So much better than what Amoeba has to offer. And even tho their not orignal and prob mostly reproductions, its ok. Vinyl, well its a small section but for the distance; can't beat that! Ray was very friendly, we chatted for a bit and I'll be definitely coming back and purchasing a shit load of posters from now till well, until my garage walls are completely full, including the ceiling. Reasonable prices on vinyl, most if not all were in really decent condition too. I found a happy place close to home when I need to get away for just a bit. its not the same as what Hot Rocks was but just to know it technically is.. well, that's comforting! read more

LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! It has a very eclectic array of things to purchase. They have new and used CD's as well as actual records of course. It's been a long time since I haven't used ITUNES to purchase a song. It was nice to get back to buying something that I could actually hold! My boyfriend got a DIO shirt and I found a David Bowie shirt. When we bought the shirts the man behind the counter gave us 6 free pins for my purse! (3 for each shirt). I also got a Bettie Page flag for our bedroom. ;) They had a bunch of stickers and trinkets too! The staff is amazing! Super cool, friendly, and helpful people. WoW- This was my 2nd time coming in. I had been once before when Kaos used to be in Covina. They have since moved to the lovely streets of Glendora. There is a girl that works the counter and is really nice and always helpful. The owner (I forgot his name) was sooo friendly. I was looking for some shirts for my bf's christmas present. I asked for the following shirts -Anti Nowhere League -X-Ray Spexs -The Screamers The avengers I was told they did at one point have a screamers shirt but did not have any in stock. I was disappointed but still found a GG ALIN shirt and a NOFX shirt that he wears every Saturday. I was told by the owner to call him on wednesday when he does the ordering and that he would be able to get the shirts I needed to have next day. I totally forgot to call the next day. I know, I know! What a crappy girlfriend I am, and I should be ashamed of myself, But I had alot going on that week. Plus it was raining. I would have given it only 4 stars but their kindness deserves the 5th star. Thanks Kaos! read more

Today was my first time going into Kaos, and man this was the best experience by far! I've been to other record stores that have a forced genre feel to it , not that theres a problem with that, but here at kaos the feel is authentic punk/ rock. Immediate welcoming vibes from the guy at counter, had a great conversation with him and bought so many amazing things. I felt like a child in a toy and candy shop lol, rare limited items there, I got a Misfits record that only had 500 copies made and I now have one. Great shirts, patches and taste, all for low amazing prices. You get the experience, nostalgia, and the priceless items here. Definitely worth going to even just pay respects, it's amazing I'm taking all my family here and this is where the gifts are coming from because it's all GOLD!!! read more

This place is great. There's a good variety of punk CDs and the selection of shirts, DVDs, and posters is wide. This however is not the place to get vinyl if you're into that, I saw very few in my visit. Overall, they carried a lot of great music and music/movie related merchandise so that was good enough for me and I'll be coming back here again read more

I'm not one to write a good or bad reviews, especially about a store I have visited since the 90's. However, I am compelled to write this review because of the blatant disregard for customer satisfaction. I purchased a Sublime duel vinyl gift for my 15 year old son. As we played one record it skipped, but the second played perfect. However, we paid for the set on 12/23, so we decided to exchange the item. We realized the defect on the 25th of December when my son opened the gift on Christmas Day. At that time we were sure we would be able to exchange my sons gift... We thought wrong! KAOS records and its owner Ray will not exchange or refund this item. This does not make any business sense. Anyone who buys any vinyl from KAOS is on their own. If the record is defective, well that's on you. I will never spend my money at a place where there is such a disregard for customer loyalty or appreciation. Before you spend a dime at KAOS Records be willing to loose your money if the item you purchased is flawed. read more

Records? Not here. I called and asked if they have a big selection of vinyl records. The voice on the phone said "Uh, yeah." I suppose I should have noted the hesitation. Anyway, I generally trust people, so I trek in from 25 miles away, expecting an actual record shop. Instead, I find place with more T-shirts than records. There is literally one small shelf with roughly 200 records. I suppose it's a great place to go if you need a Misfits shirt or a Nekromantix patch for your gig bag, but not for anyone with more than a casual interest in punk rock, much less music in general. *** UPDATE: i recently went back to get a cramps tshirt for my girlfriend for christmas and the owner said i could return the shirt if it doesnt fit for a different size or another shirt if the other sizes arent available. he just convinced me to bump them up another star. 4 stars for KAOS. and they had newer posters, shirts, albums, and collectors items. they definately stepped up their game. read more

The best in punk records stores! I wish there were more shops like Kaos Records but that's what makes it even more of a jem. Punk, goth, and 80's CD's, shirts, posters, patches, pins! A large selection at fair prices. I live a bit further from Kaos now but I still like to go and have a shopping spree when I can. When I was growing up in Covina, it was one of the few awesome shops in the area and continues to be so. Go support this punk independent business!! read more

If you love classic rock and 70's, 80's, 90's, 2000's music this is the place for you. The lady that works there is very helpful and will help anybody that is finding a specific artist. The thing I bought was Mr. Bad Guy by Freddie Mercury and it's in great condition for being a used vinyl record. I will be coming back here for other vinyl records later on.
