Forever my favorite ramen spot in Brooklyn! The broth is so flavorful and delicious. Not too salty at all. The ramen comes with pieces of chashu, bamboo shoots and some salad of some sort on top! I added the corn as an extra and my friend got the tan tan men and added an egg. We haven't been here since last year and was waiting for the weather to be cold for peak ramen weather and it was well worth the wait. The place was so crowded we had to sit outside but thankfully it wasn't that cold outside. They have limited indoor seating as it is quite small inside and a backyard with outdoor seating as well. There is outdoor seating too in front of the restaurant. The people working here are also some of the kindest people ever! I was worried that we would be forgotten since we were seated outside in the front but everything came quickly. Would give this place 4.5/5 if I could. Deducted half a star bc of ramen flavors, explained in detail below. Came here on a Sunday night at 6pm for a date. Definitely get here early. Even if it doesn't look like there's a line out the door, there's a waitlist. We were quoted with a 30min wait but it probably only took about 15min. We were seated at the bar near the 'kitchen' which was really interesting. I could see them weigh the ramen, prep the broth, etc. The restaurant is very small inside. There are about 8 seats at the bar and maybe 3-4 tables at the front of the restaurant so don't come here if you have more than 4 people I'd say. If you're looking to take awesome photos for your foodgram, good luck. Bring your own equipment because this place is dark... We ordered the below: Baos - each order comes with only 1 bao. At $4, I personally think it's kind of steep. We got the pork one and the croquette one. In terms of flavor they are definitely the best I've had. The pork bao was better than BaoHaus, Ippudo, Tochin, momofuku, for the reason that the skin is crispy, it's not very fatty and the flavor profile isn't overpoweringly salty Oxtail - this was TO DIE FOR. I'm a sucker for good oxtail and this did not disappoint. You can absolutely tell that the quality of the meat is very good. The flavor is very balanced. My only complaint is that it's tough to eat on a date LOL. You really have to get in there with your hands. Chef Special Iron Man - I was disappointed because I had high expectations. Ippudo has been my go to ramen spot for many years. I've taken countless friends there when they visit. I will say Ippudo broth is on the salty side but this one was a bit too light for me. The broth was clear and not very rich, it came with bamboo shoots and two pieces of pork. The balance of the broth and noodles was off for me. I like to slurp my noodles with broth in the large spoons, and after probably 5-6 bites, I was struggling to get more broth! In terms of add on toppings, you have lots of options like other ramen spots Ti Amo - this was interesting. The broth looks rich but was not and you actually get a shot glass of lemon (lime?) juice to add before you eat it. Presentation is very cute. This is definitely prettier than the pork ramen. My date said that comparing the two, this one feels more seasonal and refreshing while the pork one is something evergreen that you can enjoy at any time. I'd agree with that. Matcha Yuzu drink - get this. it's soooo good. The super sweet bartender said that it's actually quite rare to find at restaurants. Only complaint is that they give you so little! There was probably 7 ice cubes and the liquid only filled up 1/3 of the cup :( Sake - I don't remember which we got but it was suuuper smooth. Would recommend. My favorite ramen I've had in Brooklyn so far. They have more traditional ramens as well as some unique creations. I went with the point blank. The broth was a chicken and pork broth flavored with soy sauce and horse radish. The rich umami of the the clear pork and chicken broth really stood up to the bite and brightness of the horse radish. The noodles were thick and curly with a really good amount of chew. The chashu is not over seasoned and is intensely porky and on the leaner side. The wasabi tobiko add some extra dimension to the horseradish heat, accentuating it, although once it mixes into the broth it's hard to get the fun popping texture of them. The egg is seasoned lightly but is extremely creamy with a fudgey yolk. This bowl comes with a little shot of yuzu juice and you're instructed to add it halfway through. The yuzu neutralizes the heat of the horseradish a bit while enhancing the brightness, which provides such an interesting contrast to the deeply savory soup. Yuzu is such a unique flavor and I always think it pairs so well with ramen broth. I ate outside in the garden and had such a great experience. The menu is a bit over whelming for some reason but I loved the food and atmosphere here. read more

Hands down one of the best ramen places I've ever been. I got the Point Blank ramen which was pork based shoyu and wasabi based - and definitely different from any other flavors I've tried ever. Has a nice kick to it from the wasabi but not overwhelming where you just taste that specific flavor. Noodles had a great chew. The servers were great - upon serving they give you instructions where it's recommended you eat this ramen slower and halfway you pour a shot of yuzu where it enhances the experience. I came here twice so far and this is definitely a solid ramen place if you want to try out different kinds of ramen. The matcha fries taste just a little matcha and bitterness so I wouldn't get it again since I didn't taste much of a difference compared to regular fries besides the sprinkle of matcha on the top. I really like the Knuckle Head ramen, the silky Tonkotsu broth was very flavorful! I enjoyed it and will come back again when I am wanting ramen. I was in the area running some errands and was looking for a place to grab a dinner before returning to JC. Yelp offered Karazishi Botan and I was thoroughly satisfied with their recommendation. I had originally wanted to sit in their back garden area but they were full so we sat in front. Their outdoor dining space is pretty good - we felt protected from the elements. I had their summer special of dipping ramen and X and my mom had their miso tonkatsu ramen. I absolutely loved my ramen and subtle citrus flavor to the broth. We also had a wedge salad and the crab/corn croquettes. The croquettes were SO good. You have to get them when you come here - they're so creamy and smooth on the inside. Service was pretty good, a bit slow after food was dropped off, but that's to be expected nowadays with staffing shortages. I feel bad writing a negative review during Covid in particular but we were seriously underwhelmed by the ramen at Karazishi Botan. We came for pickup. We were delighted by the packaging and that the noodles came uncooked (per our request). We were a little surprised to see SO many toppings and clearly that was the intended direction for us to go, but the toppings were expensive as was the base price of the ramen itself, so we stuck with just the customary egg (which was very well cooked) and the menma and of course the pork. The pork smelled odd coming out of the packaging. Not fresh. It had a slimy surface to it as well. We opted to try the ones that were less problematic and were disappointed that they used the wrong cut of meat. It was some sort of dry tenderloin-looking cut that did not reheat well and was both flavorless and slightly rank. The broth was not rich and extremely bland. I suspect the toppings are meant to mask how basic it really is. Disappointed and will still with our preferred options, Danbo and Ichiran (oh how we miss the many ramen spots in the city too) given that their ramen is much more customizable. Incredible ramen restaurant! I came here for a friend's birthday dinner. The waitstaff were incredibly kind and friendly even though I was a few minutes late. We ordered a bunch of appetizers to start including the shishito peppers, edamame, botan fries, and cheese fries. Everything was great. The peppers had a lovely crunch and flavor. The cheese fries had a dusting of cheese that looked and tasted like Cheetos but worked really well! For my main, I had the tan-tan men ramen with the spicy booster, egg, and corn. It was phenomenal. My party of 3 came by on a Thursday night at around 7PM and were seated quickly. We were given ample time to review their menus before we ordered. They do have a few additional items that are not on the full menu that is offered from Mon to Thur and Friday has something different. Of course we ordered from it all. The staff members were all so patient and cheery while we placed our order. We had ordered multiple starters and two entrees to share. For starters, we ordered the karaage and takoyaki, which are not on the main menu, the spicy kobu salad aka spicy seaweed salad, black dumplings and matcha french fries. The karaage isn't your typical fried chicken pieces, whereas this is one giant piece. We had an order for 3 pieces which was $18. The chicken itself wasn't anything special, the sauce vinegary sauce was pretty good. The takoyaki is pretty average, at least you could eat more than one piece of octopus inside. The spicy kobu salad was a hit for our table, or maybe we just really enjoy seaweed salad. The black dumplings on its own seemed like the frozen ones you'd get at any Asian market. The seaweed sauce however had mixed reviews, mostly enjoyed by my friends. The matcha french fries just didn't hit for any of us. Now if you were to eat the fries with the seaweed from the dumplings, that's on a whole other level. For entrees, we ordered the point blank and the special off menu spicy ramen which I don't remember it's name. The point blank on its own, you had to eat slow as the wasabi hits and opens your airway in multiple ways. Also halfway through eating this dish, you would add the yuzu to create a different dish. Now, some of us liked it without the yuzu. The chashu was also on the leaner end so it wasn't taken well. What made the dish work was adding the sauce from the karaage, in which all our responses was, we don't hate it. The spicy ramen was on the higher end of the spectrum. It was a bit difficult to eat due to the spice. However, again adding the sauce from the karaage and the yuzu cut through the spice and made it better. The noodles however in both ramen were cooked perfectly, so not all was bad here. Overall our averaged rating came to a solid 3. This was our first time here and we wanted authentic ramen. We ordered two of the tsukemen which was a seasonal special, the spare ribs and also the lemonade slushee which was also seasonal. Service here was super friendly and attentive which is what you expect from a Japanese restaurant. The tsukemen was really good, great portion, was flavorful and very authentic. The food is undoubtedly flavorful and the vibe and service was amazing. Backyard was an awesome space. I am definitely excited to try other ramen and foods here in the future. The only reason it is not a 5-star from me is because most of the food had a slight salty edge but I think this place is worthy of repeat visits and I'll be back in the future. We (2 people) got the Botan Katsu burger with fries and Tsukemen special as well as the Ikezu Yuzu and Peach Jelly Sake cocktails. We definitely liked the Yuzu cocktail more. The burger had a chicken katsu that could be juicier and also had too much sauce (salty) or maybe not enough slaw. The fries were yummy but very minimal amount as an add-on. The buns of the burger was also a unique and tasty feature for me. The Tsukemen was an obvious choice for us because of the description and cool Freddie M menu. The portion size was very large. The meat was good but the soft boiled eggs were way better. The broth maintained its warmth and smelled really good. Haven't had ramen in the longest time especially since Ms. Rona and this place exceeded my expectations. They have both street side seating as well as backyard seating- my friend and I decided to sit in the front. All the workers were wearing masks and gloves and it felt extremely safe! They had a decently extensive menu with both noodles and rice options so you can definitely find something that you liked. They also had alochol and dessert for those that were interested. I got the Knuckle Head ramen which was absolutely delicious. The soup broth flavor was super delicious and it was so filling and warm - definitely would come back for this on a cooler fall day. My friend got the fried chicken katsu with rice and a side of fries. She loved it and said that the chicken katsu was fried to perfection but the chicken was still tender underneath. We also got fish and chips on the side to share which was also amazing. The fish was nicely seasoned and their fries were amazing!! The fries were super crispy and flavorful and the sauce that came with the fish and chips paired nicely. The portion sizes were pretty good - we definitely could not finish all the food and ended up taking to-go boxes to bring it with us. My boyfriend ordered the Knuckle Head One-Off, a spicy tonkotsu broth ramen while I tried the Gamma Green Ramen, a vege matcha miso broth ramen, which the waitress recommended. I also ordered char siu pork on the side. The broth for the tonkotsu ramen was very flavorful, but the red spicy sauce was not what we both expected. It was more of a sour taste rather than spicy, but my boyfriend still enjoyed his meal. The broth for my matcha miso ramen was quite unique. You could taste the matcha notes in the broth balanced with the saltiness of the miso. I enjoyed my dish as well, but towards the end it got a little salty for me. Authentically delicious, Karazishi is a welcome addition to a neighborhood starved of authentic East Asian offerings. With a friendly greeting from our Japanese server and an enthusiastic echo (which if you've been to any Japanese establishment will understand), we were seated in a spacious backyard outdoor space on a beautiful sunny day. Karazishi subscribes to an izakaya style menu i.e. an American casual eats diner. We started off with: Botan wings - seems to a dry rub of white pepper, salt, garlic and then glazed with tonkatsu sauce. Wings were cooked decently but not a show stopper Tonkatsu Burger - described as a Berkshire kurobuta pork cut and I 100% believe it after biting in. The natural earthy flavors of the pork juiced throughout the cutlet and the light Pankhurst crusting crowned with a airy mochi donut with dusted sugar made my day. I'd come back for this alone. Knuckle Head Ramen - tonkatsu based broth, almost had a mushroom cream taste to it. Accompanied with chashu and menma shoots, the chashu was a bit under flavored for my taste (almost bland). The soup was done well and felt well balanced but the tare was stuck to the bottom leading me to believe it wasn't mixed in well enough with the base broth. Noodle consistency was good but not spectacular. I don't think the ramen was the highlight here. 3.5-4 /5 - Honestly I was wafting between a 3 or a 4 here but overall decided to give this spot the higher place. I have an lunch today in Sunday afternoon. Restaurant environment is cozy. It has bar top area and comfy couch area. We ordered French fries, noodle soup and dipping noodle. Both noodles are way too salty. We are not enjoyable for the whole meal but only the French fries is good. I won't go back. Not worth it. read more

The Point Blank ramen was a knockout! The horseradish flavor was something I never knew I needed in my ramen. The noodles were springy and the two slices of chashu pork were the perfect compliment. The broth was great to begin with, but when you are halfway done you are instructed to pour in a shot of yuzu sauce provided on the side. WOW - game changed. The broth takes on a whole new personality and I finished every last drop! The popcorn chicken was also perfectly crispy, just wish I had more of the house made sauces to dip them in. Karazishi Botan is a ramen place that opened in Boerum Hill sometime in 2020. My husband and I wanted to get ramen in the area, and I suggested this place as I had wanted to try it for awhile. It had been quite cold to do outdoor dining in February, so we decided to order delivery instead. Delivery was very quick and everything was wrapped well so the noodles didn't get soggy. We had the red dumplings, tonkotsu ramen, and tan tan ramen. The red dumplings were good but not amazing. My husband had the tonkotsu ramen and liked it, but I felt the broth was lacking something. I liked my tantan men as well. The noodles served with it were green and made from kale, so it was an interesting dish. I'd never had tantan men before, and thought the broth had good flavor. Both dishes were very satisfying and filling. The tantan men is also vegetarian, and they have a decent amount of vegetarian dishes on offer here. Rating is consistent with the location. Very nice wait staff. Got one of the ramen dishes that comes with pork. The broth was unique and I really liked that, however the pork was rather tough like it sat in the broth for a while before the food came out, but the egg was cold. It was a bit off from that perspective. Wish I could give it a 3.5. I think I would go back to see if this was a one time experience. read more
