I've been to this location multiple times over the past few years. I really like this place a lot my dad is known the guy that works there for a lot of years you when they were at their previous location. I even had them cater my wedding back in 2009 they got great chicken and these little triangle steaks I don't know what kind of meat they are but they are amazing. Honestly the food is fine, I wouldn't say it's anything spectacular. It's a place where you'd get a drink and appetizer or "shareable" type food. Not somewhere I'd want to sit down and have steak, or fish things like that. Since the management change they got rid of their best item (in my opinion), the onion rings. Since the menu changed, everything got more expensive. The staff isn't overly friendly, it feels like a hassle to get seated if you have more than two people. It's been that way the last several times I've been, it feels inconvenient for some of the staff to be of assistance at times. read more

We've been to Karem's in Norton Commons several times. The food has always been good & the service has always been good. Why 2 stars then? Because on a recent visit for dinner I discovered they are charging a 3% "service charge" when you pay with a credit/debit card. I hate it when businesses recover their costs of doing business with these extra charges. Last year another restaurant in Norton Commons charged me extra for the rocks (ice cubes) in my bourbon on the rocks. Ridiculous. I haven't returned to that restaurant and I won't be returning to Karem's either. I realize restaurants operate on a narrow profit margin and I realize restaurants have to more than cover their costs to make a profit and stay in business and I realize many restaurants suffered terribly during and after Covid and I realize some of them didn't survive but I just don't like these extra charges. Raise your prices 3%. I wouldn't notice or even realize it. But charge me an "extra charge" for the way I pay you for your food & service and I'll go someplace that doesn't charge me "extra" for the way I pay them their food & service. read more

Karem's new owners have kept the best from the old menu and added some new dishes that I really like. My new go to dish is the bourbon teriyaki salmon. Always cooked to perfection with a great sauce and a excellent price point at $17. Karen's still has a lot of my old favorites including the boss burger, boss burger wrap, and the mandarin orange salad. The new wings are over the top. And the sides have been kicked up a notch. The green beans, sautéed squash and asparagus are noteworthy. Last night I had their special which was an 8 ounce beef tenderloin with Henry Baines sauce. It was cooked to perfection. It was as good as other fillets I've had at high-end steakhouses at a fraction of the cost. As always their drinks and wine pours are very generous. read more

It's pretty a-ok here, but nothing to rave home about. Karem's seems to be a staple in Norton Commons and is good for a quick bite at lunch or dinner with quaint outdoor seating for people watching. The tiny inside is a bit dark and dated feeling though. Last time, I got the fish tacos which was a good portion and my friend got a burger which they seemed to enjoy. So I have been wanting to try this place ever since I was at Commonwealth Tap having drinks with friends and met the owner. I heard all about slider mondays! I was sold. Talk about a hidden gem!!!! It's nothing fancy and it's just a local eatery but the food doesn't disappoint. Also... there are some items that are not on the menu... Mahi Mahi Reuben... that's all I am going to say. One of the best burgers I've maybe had ever? Seriously, the boss burger is out of this world. My grandmother lives in the neighborhood and always raves about Karem's and their boss burger. So while visiting over the summer, we met up on more than one occasion and ordered lunch on their patio. Both times I got their burger, and wow. She was not kidding! It's huge, cooked to perfection, and topped with everything you could want. Their grilled onions add the perfect sweetness, while the pepper jack gives it a nice kick. Top it off with an order of fries, and you've got yourself one amazing meal. Highly recommend! read more

Popped in here for Saturday brunch. Sat outside with our baby stroller and generally had a good experience. Food was good and service was quick. Inside is small but has a cozy bar area I would have considered returning to, though I'm not sure we'll be back. The owners have chosen to pass the credit card processing fees onto the customers. I get that costs are high when running a business, but if you choose to accept credit cards, you are inviting your guests to pay that way. Penalizing them for paying in a way that you accept but do not prefer seems to me to be a very ungracious policy, given that the guest is simply trying to give you their dollars in exchange for your food, beverage and hospitality. It was very off putting to see that in 2023, but other customers may feel differently. I felt it was worth noting so people can weigh that when considering this place. read more

We stopped here for a light lunch while staying at Chateau Bourbon. We ordered the fried pickles and pizza sticks. The owner came out and apologized for being out of the pizza sticks, but recommended the chicken quesadilla instead. He was right! It was amazing. I got the mini burgers and sweet potato fries which i ordered, but had other stuff in the box that wasn't what i ordered and instead replaced the other truffle fries that I ordered. Things I really like about Karems... 1) Consistently tasty food 2) a great pub menu with lots of choices that include all the classics 3) outdoor seating, often shaded if you catch it at the right time 4) Really friendly, attentive service 5) Great prices. We are regular Norton Commons visitors and have never felt like Norton Commons outsiders. Especially here. We have visited Karem's several times in the past year or so. We like the pub feel and the pub food. The prices are great and the service has always been good. We have tried several menu items and all have been consistently good. We like to go when we are able to sit outside as the fry smell does "stay with ya" :). On Fridays the live music is an added bonus! read more

After waiting for a few minutes at a table outside and no service, we went inside to ask for the menus and sadly the waiter informed us she would not serve us even though it was a sidewalk table, just because we had a little dog - needless to say that the dog is an emotional support dog and was on leash. Me and my girlfriend live right down the road from this restaurant and wanted to try something new. We showed up at 8pm and before we even got to the door some guy told us "closed", literally just one word. I'm assuming this was the manager or owner that said this to us, but had no clue who he was. The guy was talking to people he just served drinks & food to, so it was kind of confusing to us. I asked "what do you mean?", he said "we're closing at 9pm because of the curfew ". We understand that they might've wanted to close early, but there was still one hour till they officially closed, and he just served other people practically in front of us... Definitely came of as a really rude guy, and won't be back. Also, I thought that people who are working in restaurants/bars were required to wear masks, but apparently that didn't apply to this guy. read more

The food was good but the service was TERRIBLE. I got a grilled chicken sandwich and mac n cheese (both were delicious) and my bf got a chicken wrap (also good), but it took them about 20 minutes to bring it out. There was maybe only 1 order in front of us too. After bringing the food they literally did not pay attention to us at all until they brought the check. My bf had to refill his own water. Worst experience. Server (who said he was also the manager) was cold and downright rude. Then when I tipped him 15% (only the second time in my life I have tipped that little) he asked "did everything just come out wrong?" When I replied that all of our burgers were crispy when we ordered them Medium and they took an hour to come out, he tried to argue with me about it. Would be smart for this restaurant to employ a manger/server with social skills, not someone who has complete disregard for the end consumer. I would advise everyone to avoid this place. The food at this pub is average at best. They have good burgers but everything else is essentially heat and serve food from Costco. It's expensive for what you get. Service is hurried and not very attentive. On the nights of the street parties in Norton Commons it gets downright rude. One bright spot for the place is their wine pours. The owner of this restaurant didn't even even try to make it right that we were told we couldn't have a meal with our small dog on their SIDEWALK. In response to telling him the restaurant next door had allowed us in March, he said, "I dont care ma'am, we were here first." Appsrently he's a 5-year-olf boy. ‍ For the record, our dog is NOT a service or emotional support dog. I was honest about that when the server asked. And, the owner hung up on me when I called and complained. Wow. Really grown up. Oh and he didn't care he lost customers. Ok, that's fine. When I want LEGIT, NON-GREASY, pub fare, I'll take my business to The Irish Rover. And no, I won't take my dog BECAUSE THEY DON'T HAVE OUTDOOR SEATING.
