I found this place on Yelp before we went to Maine and hoped it would be great. We were not disappointed. Though nothing more than a road-side stand, this place produced the best lobster roll I've had in Maine! We knew we were in the right place when there were locals ordering lobster rolls. The man in front of us was a retired lobster fisherman, so that's a pretty good referral. I ordered the large roll and my husband ordered the Bobster Roll, a large lobster roll with bacon. Together I think the rolls had the meat equivalent of 3 decent sized lobsters. We also ordered a side of fries to share. Good thing, since the order of fries was gigantic and, though perfectly cooked, we were too stuffed to finish them all. Just stopped at Karen's Hideaway for the first time on a very rainy day. We took it back to our camp site and had one of the best fried scallops dinners that we have had in a long time. This place deserves 10 stars. I honestly feel like they are losing money with the amount of fresh lobster that is stuffed into each roll. We got 2 large lobster rolls, dry with butter on the side. So incredibly fresh, the meat melts in your mouth. By far the best lobster roll we've ever had in Maine, and we've been visiting every Labor Day weekend for the past 5 years...so we've had our share of lobster rolls! Karen herself was there and told us she just finished cracking these lobsters and that it doesn't get much fresher and she was right! It's a little shack on the side of the road with picnic tables in the back. Unassuming, but definitely has a charm to it. Seriously, stop here! You must! This place is amazing. Came to Maine late in the season once all the other "famous" places were closed. We were disappointed since my family was visiting all the way from New Mexico and was excited to try their for first lobster roll ever, but Yelp came thru and found this quaint little place that was still open and is open until NOVEMBER 1st! Thought I'd check this place out and I'm so glad I did! It's a small place with outdoor seating nothing fancy but the lobster roll is so worth it! I got the large with butter and my wife got the small with butter. I'd have to say the large had the meat from 2 lobsters and my wife's had over 1 lobsters worth of meat. Hamburgers are large and grilled to perfection on the flat top. This place doesn't look like much from the outside but it has simple picnic table seating out back.
