Kind of a dump but food was very good and done right. Great for a quick sandwich, hotdog or hamburger. Fries very good and an order comes in a tray normally used for a hamburger and fries - it is enough for two so be warned. Prices very good for this area. read more

Quirky little place with picnic tables and wonderful food at reasonable prices, by Maine summer standards. Great burger that wasn't all glopped up with toppings, as many places do. Clam strips were nutty and crisp. Potato salad and slaw we're homemade and memorable. read more

Served an amazing meal by Karen and her son. Ordered the lobster roll of course, the junior was well priced and certainly had a whole lobster in it, complete with claws on top. The offer a few ways for it to be served, lightly tossed with mayo, naked with butter on the side. Everyone can be happy. Also had the clam strips which were perfectly fried and yummy. The best was the fried fish sandwich. The piece of haddock was so huge it was folded over in the bun. The breading was light but tasty and it was cooked to perfection. While waiting they also gave us a free sample of their homemade pineapple Cole slaw. I'm not a fan of slaw in general but this was so fresh and flavorful I would order a whole side next time. Worth stopping on the side of the road. In fact we ended up coming back every day of our stay in Boothbay. The highlights were the grilled cheese with lobster and the lobster roll - just lots of fresh lobster (lots!), a little mayo (but you can have it naked) and a roll. Ok - here is the bottom line - you are going to be eating along a busy road adjacent to a parking lot with zero view of any water in sight - so the setting is bad. That being said - the quality and quantity of the lobster in the large lobster roll is unreal. My wife and I stayed in three different towns over a six day period up and down the coast of Maine eating lobster rolls everywhere we went - Karen's by far had the freshest, largest, most delicious lobster roll by far. They compensate for the not so great location with an unreal product, don't miss this place. read more

What a great food stand just outside of Boothbay Harbor on Rt 27. Lobster roll is deliciously fresh and packed with meat. Outside seating is available. Don't come here for the view, but don't dismiss this place either. No doubt these folks know how to prepare seafood! read more

I stopped by on the way into Boothbay. Little shacks on the side of the road normally have great potential but I must say I wasn't impressed. I ordered the crab melt. It barely had any crab on it! Plus the melt was hardly melted. The cheese was still solid. My boyfriend got the lobster BLT and was also disappointed with the amount of meat. The tomatoes and lettuce were anything but fresh. We decided on Karen's because of Yelp and believe me Yelp led us to the most outstanding lobster roll experience ever. I'm so glad we persisted until we spotted the roadside restaurant. Had lunch here today and I wished I had stopped here much earlier. This food is delicious, seriously get off the beaten path and try this place. We ordered the crab melt, grilled cheese and lobster, and the lobster roll. It was well worth it!!! Everything tasted fresh. The crab melt is fresh crab meat with cheese on Texas toast, all the flavors complemented each other. The bread was perfect and the crab meat was delicious and flavorful. The grilled cheese with lobster and the lobster roll were jam packed with lobster meat and not just bland old lobster meat, but fresh succulent meat. One of the best things about this experience was the people. The owner is the best. She allowed us to sample the pineapple Cole slaw which was original and very good. She also let us try her deep fried lobster meat, so so good. You should definitely try it here. You haven't had lobster in Booth bay till you try this place. read more

Wife and I decided to check out this little place after reading the reviews. The other reviews were straight on. I had the big dawg lobster roll, it was absolutely filled with lobster meat and had 4 claws on top. The lobster meat was tender and sweet and some of the best tasting lobster that I've ever had. Karen said she hand picks the lobsters every day. It shows in the quality of the food. Wife had meat from two lobsters deep fried. It also was a generous amount of lobster and it was delicious deep fried. If your not sure if you would like it Karen will let you try a bite to see. I must say that the pineapple slaw was also delicious. Will be going back for another meal before we leave. read more

Traveled to the area with a group in August of 2015 and stayed at Shore Hills Campground. We as a group chose to eat at Karen's several times during our stay. The food was good and service was friendly. The best fried clam strips that I have ever had. I would definitely recommend this place. read more
