It has always been mid, but today they really screwed up my nails. 4 hours after getting my nails done I noticed the gel nail polish was peeling completely off my nail, in one piece - mind you I didn't do any crazy activity to justify the nail polish to come off. I had to go back same day to get it fixed and the nail tech was kind enough to redo 4 nails. It's been now 3 hours since my second visit today and I see the nail polish come off other nails. This is a very disappointing nail salon and a complete rip-off. I was charged $150 just for a manicure and pedicure, and that was before tip. The service was absolutely not worth that price. If you ask them for advice on what's better, they will always suggest the more expensive option, not because it's better for you, but because it's easier and more profitable for them. For example, regular nail polish on toes is often better than gel, but they push gel anyway simply because they don't want to deal with the hassle of drying time. They also act like they know how to do nail designs, especially sequins or detailed work -- but they don't. Don't be fooled. There may be only one girl in the entire salon who actually knows what she's doing. The rest clearly don't, yet they confidently charge extra for "designs" that you could honestly do yourself at home. On top of that, they constantly suggest services you don't need, just to add more charges. Everything feels like a setup to make you spend more. This was my second time going there, only because it's close to my house. I was disappointed the first time and thought maybe I just got the wrong girl. The second time, my disappointment went through the roof. I will not be going back, and I would strongly suggest others don't either. Horrible done nails for way too much money I never gotten a filling where they just glue the lifting nail back on and one coat of powder on top and straight paint it. $65 dollars and the technique done was worth $20 dollars IF THAT. The shaping was terrible and I tried to tell the lady 3 times all my nails looked slanted as she was getting frustrated with me for telling her !!!! It's not my fault you can't file nails. and I asked for square and I'm not sure what shape it was either square or round in between my nails went from being in the long side to short of how many times she had to fix the shape. I don't know what happened to this place but it went from being my go-to salon for 6+ years to now a place I avoid. I walked in last week mid-day to see if it had improved, and there were no customers being waited on. There were 4 or 5 employees gathered about the customer waiting area watching TikToks on their phones and I felt unwelcome. I asked for a regular manicure, the woman was rude and tried to insist that I get gel. She pointed at a chair and just said 'sit.' I walked towards the polish wall to choose a color and went with my gut, which told me to leave. I mumbled something about going to the bank and then I left. I won't be back. I have been coming here for two years and I think I'm finally done. This is my third time in a row getting gel where it chips (multiple nails) within 3 days of getting them done. Last time I went in I also asked how long it would be to get a pedicure and the woman just said "pick a color." I said well how long would it be? Again, "pick a color" I said I get that! This is the quietest place to get pampered. I love it, everyone is literally just concentrating on their clients. They are not talking loudly on their cell phones or with other workers. I think just found my new favorite place. It's a large space and it is very clean plus they have their air conditioner on. I just walked out of another place because they only keep their doors open and the place had a lot of annoying flies. I wanted nothing to do with that. She filed my nail bed down so much that my nails started to break off the very next day. I will never go back to Karma again. It's as if the staff doesn't want to work there and I get a look of "what are you doing here bothering me?" I've been coming to this place that's in my neighbor hood almost every two weeks since Jan. 2019 for the gel manicure. The atmosphere is always nice and friendly and the staff is very accommodating. Once day over the summer I came in for a gel manicure and a storm came through with down pours and I didn't have an umbrella. They were kind enough to give me one they had in the back. They are super nice here but are very overpriced and don't do a great job. I just spent $70 ( plus an additional tip ) to get hard gel nails done. After 5 days one of my nails had a pretty bad chip and the other nails were starting to peel. I needed my nails to last 2 weeks because I was going out of town and figured a gel with acrylic powder would last at least that long. Nope! I had to go in and get it fixed. I only fixed the one nail that looked the worst and figured the other nails might be able to hold up another 6 or 7 days. Not only did they charge me an additional $10 to fix the nail that chipped after 5 days, more nails chipped the following day. Almost $100 later and I have to leave town with chipped nails. I wish I can give this place less than one star. I came to get a full set and a pedicure on Thursday morning on July 13th, 2017. When I arrived the staff greeted me and I waited less than 10 minutes to be helped. Everything went fine during my manicure. The lady took her time and asked me if I was happy with the way thumbnails looked. An hour later when it was was time for my pedicure that place started to get busy quickly. She rushed my pedicure. I was extremely upset in the way she did my feet. I hoped for the best. During the weekend I felt pain in my toes and tingling sensation. On Sunday July 16th I noticed my big toe on the right side was red and swollen and so was my other toe on the left. Yesterday Monday July 17th I couldn't walk. I realized I had a severe infection in both toes. I'm angry and lost for words. This is disgusting and ridiculous. 15 years of getting pedicures I've never experienced an infection. Both technicians took their time and made sure I was comfortable and happy with their work. I opted for the Green Tea Spa pedicure, which was a bit pricey but overall worth it! I had an ingrown toenail that was coming back and my technician removed it carefully & efficiently. No pain & very clean! They were both also very polite and kind. But, my gel manicure did not age well. One pinkie nail was majorly chipped by Thursday (3 days later), and by Sunday (a week later) the edges were wearing down. Karma is probably one of the best nail salons that I have ever visited. My friend and I were still exploring Sunnyside and decided to treat ourselves to a mani/pedi. As I've stated in previous reviews, I'm not a fan of pedis but I decided why not and got one, anyway. We were taken pretty quickly and sat to get our tootsies taken care of. While the girls who do your nails don't chat much, they're total sweethearts and take good care of you. Hot stones are complimentary, which was nice. They did a great job on my feet! Afterward, we moved to get our hands taken care of. Again, they took excellent care and my manicurist had STRONG hands. She gave me a hand/forearm massage and I was in absolute heaven. She was smaller than me but her grip was that of a man's! After our nails were completely done, we sat at the drying station. Very relaxing atmosphere from start to finish. I came to get my nails done today. I came in with long almond shaped nails. I asked her to cut up just a tiny bit keep them almond shape because I want them to remain long, instead she cut them in a square shape super short and then try to fix the situation by filing it down into an almond shape which she couldn't get because it was already too short so I now have short round shaped nails. I had to then give her direction to fix four of my nails because they were lopsided. All the while still afraid that she was just going to Shorten them even further. I know it's my fault because I should've asked if she could do them from the beginning I just assumed that they were all able to do it especially when I said what I wanted when I walked in. I've done my nails here before and they have botched it up once before. Other than that I've done it here pretty often and gotten what I wanted. The woman that did my nails the time before this with the long almond shape nails, did a great job. Unfortunately for me she wasn't there today. What I hate the most is that then She rushes me to review my nails when I know that they are not even and I am just trying to get comfortable for a service I am paying for and needed to at least be adequate. After trying multiple nail salons around Woodside and Sunnyside, I have had the best gel manicure here- my technician Sabrina was incredibly attentive to detail and gentle, qualities that I have found difficult to find in other salons in the area. I have gone to Karma a few times, first for a pedicure and it was ok, nothing great, but ok. The staff seemed friendly and nice. Then I did a gel manicure for the holidays in December and it lasted about one week, before the nails just fell off. I decided to do powder the next time, and it took forever, I probably spend 3 hrs in the salon and it felt like the girl didnt know exactly what to do. It was my first time doing a powder manicure, so I didnt know the process either and just practiced patience. The nails looked ok and lasted about 10 days before breaking off. The removal of the powder was done horribly, instead of soaking my nails in acetone first, the girl used the electronic grinder and torally ruined my nails by grinding too much. All my nails started to break and after 2 weeks of the removal, hurt every day and are super sensitive to touch. I would not recommend this salon and will never go back there! read more

The staff here are very nice, detail oriented, attentive, and they aren't in a rush to be done with you so they can take the next customer. A lot of other places I've tried aren't as clean and sanitized as this one. Hot stone massage for a regular pedi. They also let you soak in the warm water for a while before they start to work on you. You will like your experience there. I also tried their chair massage. Oh yeah they do a great job too. I suffer from neck, shoulder, and back pain from working long hours in the office. From time to time I also get a chair massage from here. I started coming to Karma since they opened. They were always overpriced and it seems everyone in there acts as if they don't speak english. In their defense, they probably don't but there are a few girls that are the senior workers that DEFINITELY understand and pretend not to. I have spent well over ten thousand here in the last 5 years mostly holding onto what was in the beginning and what became after. And before I explain the problems, rest assured I am a generous generous tipper. And 30 or 40 dollar tips were usual-I worked off tips in my earlier years. The problem now in the last year Two years that I have noticed is huge. The uv gel pedicures and manicures do not last. The place is an oven: they must make enough between overbooking and overcharging people. They cut my sisters big tor wide open where she was infected and had to get meds (thank god she works at a pharmacy). The spa pedicures, which I usually get, are 65-70 and the massage that is included is a joke. The water is never warm enough. This winter was brutal. As hot as they keep it in the summer, its a winter igloo in here during the winter season. I have smooth feet that are often complimented and once in a while i will pay a baffling ten extra for a callus remover--only for nothing to be done. Various girla just stare off into space, even after I ask them oh ao gently to hold the pumis a certain way. I finally chose to write this review and this will probably be the last time i come here. I made an appt an hour and a half ago and they told me to come in at 5:15 and I am still waiting. The chair they put me in is broken and does not mechanically lean back. They have put so much cheap tape on the remotes on the massage machine, one must struggle to turn on the remote and you can't view the functions. Compared to the other nail salons in the neighborhood alone, this is terrible. No one has their massage chair on. Nobody at all. It seems this was the plan all along. Final notes: there are so many new and just as fancy places in sunnyside and over a few blocks in woodside that have people willing to listen, turn on the heat and AC when necessary; a nail salon that will take care of its long time clients with more personal treatment and also treat new clients with more than a nod. Massage chairs you can see and use! An AC in these longer than normal summer temperatures. Maybe shut off the commercial radio and play some calming spa /nail salon music? For their prices these are bar minimals we can ask for. There was a time I worshipped this place. I guess after some years, they feel they are doing well enough to forget the welcoming manner they exerted when they first opened. The massage chairs are pretty cool if you figure out how some who what feels good for you and how to work the kinda beat up remote. My wife and I have been coming here for awhile and I am always pleased. Nyama is the woman that I always request, she takes her time doing my pedicure and give me a very good Hot stone massage and shoulder massage. It's really worth every dollar. Originally when I got my nails done there I was going to post a picture with my great review, as the two people who did my nails were nice, fast and from the naked eye they looked great. I am on day 5 now of a nail infection. As someone who not only worked at a nail salon but frequently visits them, I have never, ever gotten a nail infection. The extreme pain that I have felt the past 5 days I would not wish on anyone.
