I went to this salon last Tuesday to get a pedicure and gel manicure. The prices were a little ridiculous to me but I've gone there one other time and they did a great pedicure and gave equal great customer service which is important to me. My pedicure this time was great however I'm giving two starts because my gel manicure was trash. When I got outside in sunlight I noticed the coating didn't look smooth. I let it rock though. Now it is a wrk and a day later and my nails look horrible. My gel polish has always lasted two weeks. The polish started chipping a few days ago. I spent too much money to have to go and get another gel manicure a week and a day later. I will probably go back for pedis only until I find a salon who will give me great service in both. read more

Hands down the best Nail Salon in Sunnyside, although it's a bit on the pricey side, it's definitely worth it. I troop it from the Bronx to get my nails done so you know that's saying something about this place. The place is so cleanand the staff is super friendly. It's always a relaxing visit when I'm here. Yesterday (8/14/14) I got a gel manicure and got a pedicure done all for $60.00 (+$10 tip) They did a great job with everything, plus they give you a mini massage while your nails dry. read more

I love Karma without reservation - let me count the ways: 1. The atmosphere is flawless: the salon is clean, relaxing, and though it can get busy on the weekends, I've never had more than a 10 minute wait for a walk-in visit. Also, they use completely sealed sets of tools for every customer - phew! 2. The staff are skilled and truly wonderful - one helped me pick out a nail color and agreed that it didn't suit me after a single coat, and we chose another one together! She was amazing. 3. The price is totally affordable, especially relative to Manhattan salon prices. For the quality of the service here, it's worth paying $2 or $3 more than other Queens nail salons. 4. My wife's been going for a couple of years, and she says it's very inconsistent. The last 3-4 times she gets someone who is new, causes pain when rubbing feet (doesn't know how to do the rocks/massage) and says it's very is uncomfortable. They don't turn on the massage chair, they're super slow, and for $25 the pedicures aren't that good (I can verify) and often the dryers don't work. The service is just lame, they don't attend to you or offer to help. Management doesn't seem to care if the service is off, seems like no one is in charge. With that said, it's a nice space, clean and not a bright fluorescent garish place and they apparently they have a good selection of colors. However, that doesn't make up for the mediocre experience. I had a great experience here! I just say that I've only been here once but I've been to many other salons across the boroughs. The manicure was well executed! No hard cutting/pulling of cuticles, great selection of color, AND they massage your hands with hot lotion. Ahhhhh, the sweet feeling of relaxation. I went during the holidays so i got a free olive oil lotion as a gift which made me feel special. My nails have held up for a week (which is a lot longer than usual for me.) All of this for $10 flat? Popped in with no appointment for a gel mani because my usual place had an hour wait. They took me right away, which was awesome. Large, open layout, and super clean. Not the friendliest greeting or atmosphere in general, but quiet and peaceful. Great job on the nails, lots of attention to detail and a nice little neck rub with the final UV coat. A touch pricier than my usual, but nothing crazy. So far I'm not compelled to defect, but it's nice to know about this terrific alternative just down the street. Next time I'll see how they work a spa pedi! Couldn't go 5 stars because, while they took me right away (timing), another woman came in right behind me for a pedicure and they gave her the usual '10 minutes' BS. Home of the one day gel manicure. I went last Thursday to get a gel manicure before a gala on Friday. They did a great job and the OPI color I chose big apple red looked wonderful. I woke up Friday and my thumb was chipped it got worse through the day. So I went to the event with chipped nails. I went back Monday and my left hand was totally redone and my right was touched up. The next day it's chipped again. Hours wasted and for gel mani regular pedi it was $70 not including tip. I tipped each time I went. The women who worked on my nails did everything right - I assume the problem was with the materials. Waste of time and money with embarrassing results. read more

Massage chairs that really work and don't feel like it's beating you up. Open until 10pm Mon thru Sat. When I asked for my nails to be cut short they did, when I asked them to not cut my big toe nail and just file, they did that too. I am so disappointed that I have to write a one star review. I was excited to try this place and stopped in Thursday night for a manicure. They are really close to home, roomy, well lit and clean. It was a quiet and relaxing experience and the woman who did my manicure was great. So far so good. I leave with my nails looking great. I'm super happy. I'm sold for this to be my new nail place. One day later....literally 24 hours after my manicure a huge chunk of nail polish falls right off my nail. I did not hit or catch my nail on anything. I didn't do housework, laundry or dishes. There was no reason at all for this to happen. I was extremely gentle and careful. By the time I hit the 72 hour mark four of my nails were missing chunks of nail polish. This wasn't the standard little chip kind of situation. I'm talking huge chunks of polish that are very noticeable. Given that my manicure stayed great for just 24 hours I have to give one star. I have never experienced anything like this before ever. I can only conclude that the nail polish (I chose Essie) is diluted and that their base and top coats are extraordinarily cheap. Really a shame because I left feeling so happy. read more

Had a great experience at Karma. Got the regular mani-pedi, which is reasonably priced at $35 (+ tip), very comparable to Manhattan. Salon is VERY clean, and my technician was friendly and meticulous. Standard pedicure includes hot stones for your feet during the leg massage, which is a nice touch. I passed by this place all the time but at the time I was a regular customer at Pure Spa so I never used them until Pure Spa moved then started coming here. Since coming here I've been adding some extra service, the foot massage 10-15 mins. It's been great! I like the massage treatment they give, especially from the lady who's probably the oldest among them. I've tried younger girls but the older lady does a better job. They're all good but just better. Next time I'll request to have her for my foot massage. Can't remember the name but starts with P. They also do body massage but I haven't tried. One thing good about this place is that the ambience is very inviting. The Spa is very cozy, spacious, and organized. The roomier interior gives a vibrant look comparing to other nail places around here. Mani-pedi costs about $35. Not bad. 10 min massage is $12 and 15 mins is $18. Design your nail for another $5. So I came here because my usual spot was full. At first I thought this place another one of those over expensive for show spots like most nail spots that are right on the blvd or like that French Nails on Greenpoint Ave by Lennys Pizza (ugh! The worst) but I yelped it and as always you all were right! The place is spacious and super clean! I got a gel manicure and it was the standard price so no real bargains here but the manicurist took her time and gave the best massage! At the end of my time there they gave me a really pretty packaged Christmas gift that was such a neat touch! P.S. These women are great. I've had a different nail tech each time I've gone and have not been disappointed yet. They are meticulous, gentle, and efficient. I haven't had a pedicure chip ever and the gel manicures last me at least two weeks, sometimes longer. I work in sports and I rock climb at least twice a week and my nails hold up beautifully. And on top of all that they give a nice shoulder massage at the end of your manicure. It's my favorite part! You can't go wrong with Karma! read more

The decor is bland, peeling paint off the walls, old nail stations and very limited colors in terms of nail polishes. No courtesy massage while nails were drying, no extra anything besides extra $$$ for same services you get anywhere else for much less. After my gel manicure I got eyebrow wax and they did not pull a new set of paper roll on the bed I had to lay on, I can only assume I had to lay over a dirty bed. Not sure where the positive reviews are from because if you live in Queens there are salons in every neighborhood that are way above this in terms of decor, relaxation, cleanliness, selection of colors and all of them with decent prices. I'm usually extremely lenient with my eyebrow waxing/threading standards since eyebrows grow back and it's no big deal. BUT one of the employees here managed to take my full eyebrows that I spent a month growing out and turned it into the thinnest most ugly eyebrows I've ever seen. I clearly told her to be careful and that I want a thick arch. The actual waxing took less than a minute and other four minutes she focused on slapping random shit on my face like baby powder, lotion, "cooling gel" - all of which MATTER LESS than my actual eyebrows. If you come here to do your eyebrows, please, at least get someone who knows what they're doing. If a customer comes in asking for her eyebrows done, then please, give her someone else who knows how to do eyebrows well instead of throwing her a random employee. If not, you'll have extremely disgruntled customer like me who will not only never visit your salon ever again (even though I live a few minutes away), taking with her hundreds of dollars of nail and eyebrow revenue, but also tell all her friends, post it on Facebook, and take the time to write an extremely negative review for others to see. TLDR: wanted my eyebrows done, lady clearly didn't know what she was doing and took off half my eyebrows that took me a month to grow out; extremely pissed customer ALSO, eyebrows are $8 and pedicure is $25. I've been coming to karma for quite sometime now and sadly yesterday was my last... Technicians are super friendly but the place is extremely over priced for what it is. One of the best nail salons! The place and instruments are clean, and they work until 10pm! They use to have better opi colors, but still they are the best in Sunnyside area. I go there almost every week for several years, and they have staff that changes every year or so. However, Amy is working there already for a while and she is simply the best. She puts nail polishes tin and careful with full coverage, and at the same time fast. Her mani and Padi with regular OPI stays on my nails for a week or two! I made an appointment and was there for nearly two hours because the technicians were not experienced in using this product and left with unsatisfactory nails.
