OK, let me figure this out - bad business move ..... I arrived 6-ish, 45 minute wait on Columbus Day Monday. OK, date wasn't there yet so, no big deal. 3 deep at the bar for Happy Hour and the bartenders couldn't find me over the top - totally understandable. Date shows up, bag the table and find out the drinks are twice the price at the table - no Happy Hour. She's obviously a Keeper cuz she says she'll just get the drinks at the bar. I have gone to Karvers twice. My family members and friends have gone to eat here as well many times. I recently went to dinner here on a Monday night and I was quite disappointed. The first time I had ever dined here was for Mother's Day one year, with my family and it was a terrible experience. My family and I were still eating our meal, and were undecided about desert and the waiter or waitress (I can't remember) brought us the check when we were still in the process of finishing our meals. Now, this was pre-COVID times, so I'm not really sure why we were being rushed out. I can only assume it was a busy day, being it was Mother's Day and they needed our table. However, the last time I had dinner here with a friend of mine was on a recent Monday night. We ordered a glass of wine each and our main course, which all came out rather quickly. My friend ordered boneless wings, and I ordered a tuna tataki salad which I've had here before (very tasty); this time however was very spicy it was burning my nostrils while eating. Anyhow, we were talking as we had a lot to catch up on while finishing our meals and drinks. The waiter approached the table to ask if we wanted desert. When we said no, he placed the check on the table and came back three times afterwards to try to take payment; when we had not even looked at it yet as we were in conversation with one another. We finally paid the bill, and my friend and I continued talking. We asked our waiter, if we were able to get another glass of wine each and he said he had to ask. My friend and I were sure that he wouldn't have said no, and that's just what had happened! He stated that the table was reserved and if we wanted another drink we could just go to the bar! My friend and I sat at the table for at least another hour afterwards, so with that time he could have given us another glass or wine! If our table was reserved, and the original bill had been paid I am sure that someone would have asked us to leave! No one ever came back to our table after this. With all of that being said, the service here is awful. They are friendly when you walk in, but I find a lot of the staff to be rude and unhelpful and they seem to rush you out of there even if you're still eating! I am truly disappointed and do not think I will be returning to the this restaurant. This is how restaurants lose business! Be nicer to the customer and provide them with service that is outstanding! This was not it. For this service, we could have just gone to a local eatery in Patchogue! read more

We came in for lunch from out of town and WOW! Our server Brandon was VERY knowledgeable on the menu and steered us in the right direction. I should have taken photos of the food, because it was presented very well, but we dove in immediately and wrecked the visuals! The Turkey Club is to die for! Their kettle chips are as fresh as anything I've ever had, the tuna...omg! Really, everything about this restaurant says "come back over and over" and we certainly will! Love this spot because of their menu options! It's not your typical burger or pub spot. They offer some great sandwiches and appetizers too. Food is always great! The one thing I will say is that every time I sit for dinner, the service is never 100%. It always takes 20 mins just to get some waters to the table. Food usually comes out within a fair amount of time but every time I am here the order is always messed up. I will say they are very accommodating and they won't get an attitude if they messed up and they are willing to bring you your correct order right away. Been coming here for almost a year now everything has been phenomenal today I went their with my family and the experience was terrible. So let me say everyone's food was great. Except mine, I ordered the stewed fillet tips. Yeah ummm I worked in the food industry for years anyone can tell that's not fillet at all it's chuck round that's supposed to be slow cooked. Let me tell you when I went to take a bite I couldn't separate the meat from the fork because it was so tough like a rubber tire. I know for a fact that it was not filet and they're advertising it as filet and it's about $32. Ummm that false advertising and you can get in trouble for that. Your basically selling something that it is not advertised as at all. It was advertised as stewed fillet tips, not stewed beef. If it was $15-$20 I wouldn't complain but for how much it cost and the fact that it's not filet is not okay at all. They offered to replace my meal for free, but with how busy it was, it would take forever because when we got dessert, we order dessert with coffee and it took almost a half hour to get that. I understand you guys are busy, but the food quality needs to meet expectations and service needs a little work. Met up with our best buds sunday night 5:30 this place was buzzing but we were seated at a very large booth within 10 minutes. This restaurant has a cool vibe, nicely decorated with constant rock music from the 70s / 80s playing in the background. Not to loud that you can still have a conversation. Our server, Carolann was absolute perfection. Staff was very friendly and constantly working. Was told the owner was a local from Holbrook. Tonight I grabbed dinner with a friend because she had been raving about this place, and it totally lived up to the hype! It was quite busy so she and I ate at the bar and Liz was so nice as our server and bartender. I informed her of my gluten allergy and she was kind to answer all of my questions so I could make the right choice. I had the taco salad (minus the shell) and my friend had the pulled pork nachos. I wasn't able to have the nacho chips since they weren't gluten-free but my salad was juicy and spicy Cajun chicken. I loved every bite of it. I normally don't have cocktails but we decided to have a couple of drinks. My first drink was the Valentine's Day Kiss and the second was the Coconut Martini. Both drinks were juicy, balanced and not too sweet. I got a great vibe from this place and it's so close to where I work so I will definitely come back again! read more

I feel bad writing this review since I've been a local customer for years. I always get the same thing when I go there, the steak salad, and it's significantly gone downhill. You can tell they have skimped on all of the ingredients to save cost. The cut of steak they use is so cheap now compared to what they used to use. Same with everything else in the salad. For $26 it's truly such a ripoff. I couldn't even eat the steak I got because it was so fatty and grizzly. You've lost a customer. --in reply.. A few years after our first experience here, my wife and I decided to go back as they have such good reviews and the prices aren't bad. We came on a Friday and it was packed, but the wait wasn't too bad (maybe 10 minutes). The menu, as we thought last time, is awesome. Tons of choices, lots of comfort food type of things. But exactly the same as last time, we felt the food was perfectly mediocre. There was nothing we had that was amazing. The wings were definitely good, but we tried the Mac & Cheese Fritters again as the idea sounds so good. Last time we though they were tasteless, and this time they were the exact same. Great Great Burgers and much more. This time we sat at the bar and ordered. The bar service was not the best. We had a gentleman name Chris serve us a drink . Friendly enough but after we ordered it seem like there was some confusion as to who were supposed be serving us. After the finger licking Kaver French Fries arrived we had already finished our cocktails so you would think that they see that as they served us and ask if we need a refill but no not the case. We then received our food enjoyed it very much and yet still no one came over at any point to ask us if we would like another cocktail or how was everything. At one point I thought they were going to ask but there had to been apparently people standing behind me that they were actually talking to but not me.I actually pushed my empty glass forward with my husbands to see what would happen and yet still Shockingly they remove the glasses and did not ask us if we wanted another . At this point I no longer wanted them to serve me anything. Disgusted with staff we left and went to Senior Taco for a drink. The food has never disappointed but tonight the staff definitely did. this place was fantastic. we started off with a thai chicken flatbread which was amazing, the peanut sauce was a perfect touch to it. i had the brisket french dip with a side of sweet potatoe fries and my girlfriend had a chicken sandwich. everything was delicious and packed a ton of flavor, especially the maple mayo that comes on the side with the sweet potatoe fries. our server was also phenomenal, super sweet and very attentive. we will definitely return! read more

Tried Karvers for a Sunday lunch and it was pretty good. Our server, Caroline, was really fast and friendly. I had the bbq pulled pork sammie which was delicious. The sauce was a little bit sweet and a little bit tangy and I appreciated the crunch of the onion straws. My side of onion rings was kind of bland and needed some type of sauce but they only have horseradish mayo (which my husband got and said it was not spicy and was watery) and siracha mayo so I ate mine dry. Husband got the Philly burger and thought it was good but wished for more flavor all around. Was considering dessert but there were no prices on the dessert menu and if you have to ask, you can't afford it lol. We just moved to the area about a month ago so I trust in yelp to pick out dinner spots. (And brunch spots). On a whim I went with my husband and the in laws on a Saturday night around 6. We got there and the friendly hostess said about 30 min wait. They handed us a buzzer and not even 10 mins later we were seated. Drinks were good and the fried pickle spears app also good. I ordered the burger with pulled pork and omg ... i cannot stop thinking about it. I can't wait to go back and try something else as the menu was very extensive. First time going here after all the great reviews I figured I would give it a try. I thought the service was good and friendly and the place itself looks nice too. When it comes to the food though I thought it was very subpar. Got the mashed potatoes with ribs and everything was dry as if it sat in the kitchen all day under a heat lamp. The mashed potatoes you could move all together as a clump. Also got the bistro pasta and though it wasn't bad the sauce was very watery and flavorless.
