We were delighted that the food actually came out spicy as requested, as so many restaurants tend to hold back. She def does not skimp on the portion sizes or protein. I had a different experience with Kate, as I felt she wasn't friendly or welcoming, and I was the first one there. I do agree the tamarind chicken was very good and spicy 4 wasn't too spicy. She goes up to a 6. The Chicken pad tai, the noodles stuck together, which is common in to go orders I have had from other Thai places, but was good. If you are going for the food, it only one of two places in McMinnville you can get it, so it is worth it, especially price wise being around 12.00 vs. 20.00 at the other place. read more

Everything everyone has said about Kate and her food is true. I tried it for the first time a couple fridays ago, ordered shrimp pad Thai and chicken pad Thai (I always try the pad Thai first since it is such a classic dish I use it to judge whether or not I want to try the other dishes lol) and I can say I've tried all the Thai food in Salem and Hillsboro and mcminville and this is BY FAR THE BEST. Seriously, hands down. Went back a couple weeks later and got beef yakisoba (beef tender and melted in your mouth), and chicken drunken noodles. I typically split my meals into two or 3 portions, but.... I ate the whole thing in a couple hours (not that the sizes are small, they definitely aren't for what you pay) because it was so good I had no self control. Handmade spring rolls made fresh to order too. Seriously she is super cool, and you can tell how much she cares about her food and wants her customers to have the best experience (insists people try the pad Thai sauce so they don't order something they don't like)... I especially appreciate that she adds new menu items to keep things interesting and you can text her your order. I love that she cooks with many delicious chilis, so keep this in mind if you don't like spicy and let her know you don't want your food spicy, but I personally think that would compromise the flavor of some dishes. I was so shocked to get a green curry that can compete with any in Bangkok, where I lived when I was young. Then, I was also pleasantly surprised the shrimp actually tasted like shrimp, something I've never encountered in any other restaurant outside of Portland. Ok, folks.. Here is my opinion on Kate's. Firstly, she is very personable and gives back to the community. That makes her a great human being. Secondly,the food is amazing, it's all made from scratch and she gets fresh meat almost daily so you know you are getting good quality food. She even allowed my family to taste her food before buying. She's very patient we sat down to eat and she allowed us to eat before paying. Honestly her meals are not that pricey and you know the saying you get what you pay for in this case that saying does not apply. My kids absolutely loved her chicken. We eat there at least twice a week and I never get tired of it. Kate is a hoot! Awesome lady and she works very hard everyday to make her customers happy. Kate's Thai is my favorite in town. The tamarind chicken is amazing. Little Spicy and great. Great proportion. Always have left over for later. Spring rolls are the most amazing I have ever tried before. She is so sweet and always will answer questions. She doesn't want you to be unsatisfied or waste your money. She makes it while your there so it is fresh. Few minutes wait so don't expect fast food it's not burger king.
