A nice addition to downtown! The owners have another location and expanded with this location in Los Altos. They were very friendly and we appreciated that they were mindful of our ordering and helped us so we didn't order too much! We really liked the samosas.

Garlic naan - like a cross between naan and focaccia

We had a delightful vegetarian lunch at Kathmandu today and look forward to coming back with the carnivore boys. Highly recommend - perfect timing on the different courses and everything was served piping hot. Really a treat.

Five stars for Kathmandu Cuisine! The Ajwain Garlic Soup was a standout. Tangy, nourishing, and it absolutely hit the spot. We also loved the Veg Momos. The dough had that perfect chewy texture and the dipping sauce complemented them beautifully. For the main course, the Aalu Curry was packed with fresh vegetables, and the Garlic Naan arrived hot and fresh. The service was outstanding from start to finish. So happy to have this new spot in Los Altos!

    Tibetan momo

I recently tried this restaurant and was overall a decent experience. I would give it more a 3.5/5 rating but am rounding to 4. I ordered the butter chicken with garlic naan and Tibetan pork momo. The momo was really good but the butter chicken was not so much. It was basically tomato soup with a lot of sugar in it. I think this restaurant does Nepalese dishes well but I would not recommend ordering Indian food from here. If you're craving Indian curry, there are many better options in the South Bay. I wanted to try the Nepalese thali they offered however when I asked to substitute the rice with naan the staff said it was not allowed. I have done this replacement in Thalis at other restaurants so was quite surprised. Other than lack of accommodations/substitutions in food, the staff were friendly. I probably would try this place again since it's close, but only order momos or maybe other Nepalese speciality dishes like dal bhat.

    Chicken Sizzler

Delicious food!! We went out for a team lunch and we left so satisfied, we'll definitely be back! We ordered the Veg and Chicken Momos, Egg Hakka Noodles, and Chicken Curry! All the food was fantastic, but my favorite by far was the chicken sizzler!

Chhoila chicken Momo 10 pcs $19.98 -- I was warned about the spice level that this can be really spicy and in actuality, it's not that spicy -- so if you're used to eating spicy food, you'll enjoy this dumpling. For reviewers who didn't enjoy the momos, it's probably because they ordered a plain version. Timur chicken $18.99 - this one was the highlight! Has that numbing Sichuan pepper -- simply delicious! Buffalo jhaneko sekuwa set $23.99 - spicy and flavorful. My only critique is that there wasn't enough buffalo Service was polite. Wait was 15 minutes for dishes to arrive to the table. Ambiance is typical dark vibe. I love the comfortable booth seating. Not crowded at all at 3pm on a Friday. Parking was about a block away. Total bill was $99.25 for 4 dishes. I thoroughly enjoyed most of the flavors and my overall experience was good but the portions for the meat are rather small so I have to mark down a star for overall value.

I originally wanted tacos (which was unavailable) but noticed this food truck instead. For reference, I've never tried Nepalese/Indo-Chinese food, so I figured I would give it a shot. The guy running the food truck is soft-spoken but was able to provide suggestions. When I asked what was popular, he told me that people try the dumplings, so I ordered one (1), which come in a set of 8. Each one is about the size of two quarters in diameter (for scale). It comes with sauces on the spicy side. I figured that alone wasn't enough to alleviate my hunger pangs, so I ordered the Paneer Chow Mein and Mango Lassi, too. My order came out after 15 minutes. In the meantime, I waited under the tent that was stationed with a dining table next to the truck. Paneer Chow Mein - 6/10. Tastes like your average standard Chow Mein. I didn't know what paneer was, but after a quick Google search, it's cheese with the look, texture and taste of tofu. I ate enough to send me into a food coma. The guy packed plenty into the container (and I barely made a dent), so I rated it higher. Chicken Momo (Dumplings) - 7/10. What you'd expect of a chinese steamed dumpling but with a slight twist. I don't have a diverse culinary palate, but there was a hint of a curry(esque) flavor in the filling. Delicious with the sauces. Mango Lassi - 1000000/10. I am a sweet tooth and woah....I absolutely love this drink. It is an Indian mango yogurt drink that is not too thick or sickly sweet. It has a thick consistency and was perfect to have during the summer as a dessert. It was about $4 for 12oz but I had to order another one for the road because it is exactly what I needed. Overall, I would stop by again if I needed something to curb my empty stomach.

Quantity was very generous. Both the dishes came with a nice variety of finely diced veggies. The sauces that came on the side were really good. They had a nice little kick as well. The reason for rating them a bit low is because there was a strong salty aftertaste in both the fried rice and chow mein. And it was difficult to eat much of them.

I paired my meal with a Nepal Ice Beer, which was refreshing and complemented the food perfectly. The highlight, without a doubt, was the Chicken Chilli. The flavor balance and execution were simply outstanding. Unfortunately, I had to rush to catch my flight, so I couldn't stay as long as I wanted. But we were undeterred and ordered anyway. I'd gotten the palak paneer, my favorite Indian dish and my usual basis for comparison, with kulcha naan and it was okay, but nothing to really write home about. The palak paneer was a bit sweeter than I had expected, but other than that, just fine. My coworker and I also split vegetable pakora that came with a somewhat spicy sauce (I am a spice wimp, but he is very much not), and those were pretty good. I don't quite remember what my coworker got as his main, maybe one of the dal dishes, but he also thought it was fine. The location itself is pretty small, and seems to be more for takeout than sit down diners, although that is what we did. Parking was pretty easy in the plaza, but that might be because the pizza place next door appeared to be closed? Things felt slightly dingy, but I think maybe in truth things were just a bit worn, right down to the Corelle plates which seemed like they had been in service for a long time. Decor is pretty sparse, but the lady behind the counter was nice enough when we were ordering. Overall, not a bad experience, but also not much of a draw for me. But if you like your Indian food a little on the sweeter side, maybe this is the place for you.
