The ladies in this place always do an amazing job. I've been in 4 times & had 3 different ladies take care of my pedi, and it's great every time! They offer 3 different pedi options, all at a great price for what you get. I've never made an appt for a pedi, and never had to wait (Sundays & Saturday at noon, and a Thursday at 2pm). They have 12 pedi stations available & have always been adequately staffed on my visits. They have 8 mani stations & at least 3-4 ladies available in that area. I love this nail salon! The customer is service is amazing! I am usually not a fan of returning to the same salon more than twice because of the lack of attention most salons give to your nails. My boyfriend and I have been coming to this salon for a few months now and they are amazing!! This salon is deff my favorite! They are very clean and everything is extremely sanitized. They take their time on your pedicures and well everything they do! They are very gentle on your skin and nails which I love! Because most places really don't care. I have built a great relationship with all the workers here! Unfortunately we will be moving out of the area soon and I'm so sad to think that I have to find a new place to go :/ I will deff miss coming here and I wish I can just take everyone and the salon with me lol! Since I moved I needed to find a new nail shop. Never had a problem with my last tech in the Bay area. This place; Kathy's nail picks and chooses who their licensed techs deal with as walk ins. I got shoved over to a man who didn't listen and chose to tell me what I wanted. The product used is subpar. After a week the clear gel top yellowed. Acrylic lifted because edges were not finished properly. I would not recommend this place based solely on my first experience and who they sat me down with. I got a gel manicure and pedicure on a Saturday and the gel nails literally were chipping and peeled off by Thursday. My gel manicure lasted less than a week. I am beyond dissatisfied. I used to go this salon and had wonderful gel manicures about 2-3 years ago but they have gone way down hill. What a waste. read more

I will never allow my teenager or her friends to go to this salon! This is the 3rd time they have taken advantage of my daughter and her friends. My daughter went in for a fill on her nails ( she just had a full set 10 days ago) they told her she needed a new set! She did not! So bummed to be leaving this review but after 24 hours of still being really upset by it I decided I needed too! I've been going to Kathy nails for a while now and I had for someone that I really enjoyed there work. She was not available yesterday due to my limit schedule with child care I decided to just go with whom was available. So they being to drill my old dip nails off and they get to my pinky and the drill slips. Takes a chunk out of my nail and slips all the way around the bottom of my pinky. I immediately start bleeding. They stop what they are doing go to pull out the blue blood clotting liquid/ state board necessary liquid which he is out of! Grabs the alcohol spray instead and a cotton ball. And sprays the alcohol on my open cut!! Felt amazing!! He does at this point say sorry once. Doesn't ask how it feels if I want to wash it or anything. 2 seconds later while my finger is still bleeding goes about filling the other nails Only to grab my pinky and squeeze it from the sides to continue the job moments later. I should of at this point left. I should of stopped them but I didn't. I realize this is where I went wrong. So he continues my pinky nail bed isn't bleeding but you can visibly see it's been damaged and he puts the dip polish over the top! Again this feels amazing . They finish the job and go to check me out and does he say anything like I'm sorry about what happened let's do half the price or it's on my I'm sorry I hurt you?! Nope full price thanks!! Maybe this is to close to home for me because I work in this industry but I would never!!! Extremely disappointed in my treatment! I just had to super glue it because I can't work without catching my clients hair in the crack. It feel like a ridiculously deep paper cut. I realize my pinky will survive but this negligence should never of happed to begin with let alone the way it was swept under the rug! read more

I went in on Friday for a pedicure. The man who was working on me went in on my left big toe with a vengeance, picking at it until it bled. Needless to say walking was absolutely painful Saturday and Sunday being that my big toe is red, inflamed, and infected! Not sure how I am supposed to be on my feet all day Monday! I don't get my nails done very often so, when I do, I want my experience to be relaxing and my nails to look perfect. Kathy's is my new go to salon to make sure that happens every time. As usual, I turned to Yelp to find a new salon and my fellow yelpers steered me in the right direction. Kathy's is not just nicely decorated and relaxing inside but the staff is super friendly and attentive. The only thing missing was a glass of wine in hand but I am pretty sure I made up for it when I got home ;) Most importantly, my nails were perfect. I had the special pedicure here a few weeks back. The overall pedicure was mediocre, but the foot scrub and massage portion were really sub-par. Towards the end of the pedicure, when I was the last customer there for the day, a bunch of their family members and children showed up at the salon and started taking the foot rests off the pedicure stations. I'm not sure if they were taking them for replacement or cleaning or what, but what was revealed to be underneath the foot rest was pretty gross, as in dirty. I'm not sure why they would have done that while a customer was still there. It was also really uncomfortable when the whole family showed up and were all hanging out and talking to each other while I was still getting my pedicure. I'm talking 10+ people of varying generations all yelling to each other in their language, and staring at me. Very awkward. I definitely know of other salons that are in the same price range, but have a better experience and better pedicure. I won't be returning here. read more

I have been to this nail salon about 3 times, but will not continue. The staff is very rude, and I think they talked about me and how I dressed in their salon. I asked for a simple stiletto nail, she had no idea what it was, I showed her pictures - still didn't do it. So I had to ask for something else, a gradient glitter effect french tip. She didn't get that right either, she put a glitter line, I asked her if she could use the glitter that I picked out when I arrived. She argued with me and said "no, the glitter on the one you picked are too big" Which I liked, and she got flabbergasted so I just told her to do it her way. One of the other ladies that were working on my mom's nails asked her what happened, she just yelled at her and said "glitter glitter everyone wants glitter" then started speaking Vietnamese and laughing at me. Overall my Mani pedi was about 65 dollars which included a HOT paraffin with warm Rocks. The polish she used chipped 2 days after, will not come back. read more

I usually don't write reviews, but this business definitely deserves it. These ladies were so sweet! The girl who did my nails made sure that I liked my nails and even took extra caution to make sure to not aggravate a nail that I said was extremely sensitive. Afterwards, she put lotion on and massaged me, which was really nice, especially because I didn't expect it. It was my first time getting a gel manicure, ever and she was very nice about the instructions, making sure that everything was perfect. The nail salon doesn't really smell like one, which is especially nice because it usually gives me a headache. The pedicure stations are very relaxing and nice, and the salon as a whole is very nicely decorated. They also have a very extensive selection of polish, all OPI, which is my favorite brand. I'm very happy with my nails and I hope to come back here soon! read more

I do gel manicure and regular pedicure usually about every 2 weeks. Worth the money, people. TOTALLY. It never chips, and on those rare times I can't make it in, it lasts all the way to 3 weeks. I've never gone longer than that but I would not be surprised if it hung on even longer. Wait--I did chip a nail once (my fault!) about a week after I got them done, and I came in and they fixed it for zero dollars. And they were so sweet about it! This might just be the best pedicure I've ever gotten. I came around 6:30, and they were still open (yay!) and got me right in. I got a pedicure ($25) with gel polish (+$10) - a little pricey, sure, but it was well worth it for a few simple reasons: 1. Even I (renowned for messing up nail polish before I ever leave the salon) can't mess this up! And it'll actually last through the holidays. [UPDATE: While the nail technician estimated that the gel polish would last at least a month, it only lasted about 2 1/2 weeks.... still decent, but not quite as rave-worthy as what I was expecting. Still worth going back if I'm in the area.] 2. Everything was so sanitary. Nail tools were all sealed up from being sterilized. Always something I worry about when I try out a new place, so this really put my mind at ease. 3. Shortening the amount of time spent on the foot scrub (and being gentle so it doesn't tickle as much!) meant way more time for the amazing foot and leg massage at the end. One round of massage with lotion, a second round with oil, and then the relaxing hot towel to finish it off - all with plenty of muscle to make your feet feel alive again. Love this place! I am a cosmetologist so I am always looking for disgusting reasons not to go to a nail place. I could find none. It was extremely clean. The implements are sanitized and packaged for single use. And the foot scrubs are spooned and plated for each client rather than a dirty hand scooping it out and onto your foot. My friend and I, who rarely get out together, decided to treat ourselves to a full set. I looked online, and based on reviews I thought Kathy's Nails was the best bet. We arrived around 10am, expecting to have a wait, but they got us right in. That was probably the only good thing I can say about this place... As soon as we sat down they started talking to each other in another language and laughing. The lady asked when the last time I had my nails done, and I said it had been a while since I have a kid and rarely get out of the house, she said something under her breath to the lady next to her and she started hysterically laughing and the lady who was doing my nails grabbed my hand and showed it to her. They both continued to laugh. Then she was nudging the lady next to her and pointing at my wedding ring...just very unprofessional. I wanted to get up and leave but decided to go against my gut feeling and stayed. I told the lady exactly what I wanted, Pink sparkly tips and I wanted my nails short (I work in dental and I can't have long nails.) She insisted I get them longer, and kept at it until I gave in. She got glue stuck on the sides of my nails and kept trying to grind it off and pick at it, and my thumb eventually started to bleed! She blamed it on my hands being too cold (wtf?) My friends nails were done way before mine. My nails (and my friends too) were thick, really long and you could see the end of my nail under the fake nail. I looked REALLY BAD. I was extremely upset. Ended up being $50...way too overpriced for this service. Also I forgot to mention, they didn't have a receptionist. They lady who was doing my nails had the phone by her the whole time and kept answering the phone and getting up to write stuff down and helping whoever came in. Heaven. Pure. Heaven. I have never had anyone so meticulously attend to my nails. Kathy (the owner) and Chi did my gel manicure and pedicure so perfectly, I think they both must have a touch of OCD. I kept waiting for them to finish and it took over an hour for both, they were so gentle and attentive. I had a 3:00 appointment on a Saturday, it was NUTS, and I was 7 minutes late because I had trouble finding them (they are right next to Lucilles BBQ!). Usually when you're late, you get the disapproving look, the rushed treatment and the kick out the door. This experience could not have been more different. I have never received such good nor extensive massages and Kathy cut all of my nasty cuticles off and squared off the tips so well, they look like really well-done acrylics but they're my own nails!! It was not cheap----I paid $65 for gel mani and pedi but it was entirely worth it because of the service and how long gel lasts. I beat my hands up and the gel takes at least 2 weeks to even start to chip. I have been to the highest-rated nail spas in Roseville/Rocklin and THIS place beats the pants off of all of them. read more

I am a full-time mom of a 2-year-old, and we just moved here not too long ago, so I really couldn't get my nails done until the weekend when my husband is home. I also wanted to get my nails done as early as I can so I have the rest of the day to spend with my family, and I was just SO glad that Kathy's Nail & Spa opened so early on a Saturday!!! I don't know what time the nail places are open here, but in San Mateo, not a lot of these places open til 10am. They were already opened when I called at 8:30-isham, and they told me they take walk-ins too. The place was clean, the service was great, and even the package I got was really nice. it's the same price as the one I usually get in San Mateo, so to me this place is not pricier at all. The only thing I wish they could be more like the San Mateo place I go to is that massage they provide. I like really hard massage, like deep tissue, but I barely felt the lady who massaged me. Of course, this is totally a personal reference. Also, I told the lady that I like really short nails, but she didn't cut them short enough. I will just make sure that she cut them more next time. Clearly, I will go back to this place again. I really enjoy my "break" at Kathy's and the service they provide. One thing I should mention: since the ladies don't speak English fluently there, my nails lady thought I said "$45" instead of "$35." I am glad I took another look right before I signed the bill. I was not and am still not mad, I thought it was an honest mistake---she just heard me wrong---but it reminded me to always pay attention when I sign the bill. read more

I went to Kathy Nails for the first time today and really enjoyed my experience! I got a mani and a pedi and thought that both were done really well. The manicure was nice and thorough - cleaned up the cuticles, hang nails, etc. very well and the shape of my nails were really nice too. The pedicure was also very good - great massage, really exfoliated the foot well, etc. The salon is decorated beautifully- the chairs and other equipment are clean, new, and just over all comfortable and inviting. Everything was well worth the money spent and I will be going back! Oh, the only reason I didn't give five stars for this visit was because they were really busy and the woman helping me had to start helping another person toward the end of my services as well. Awful! Every time I go to this shop, they mess up my nails. I recently got dip and my nails are thick and have ridges on almost every nail. A coworker recommended this place and it was pricy ($45 for French tips) but they were beautifully done. Very happy. I made an appointment for 11 but they couldn't seat me til 11:20 and that happened to someone else while I was there too, so I think it's probably pointless to make an appointment here. Let's start with the pros! This place is ridiculously close to my house, I can almost always get in and the pedis are great, that's why the 3 stars. The cons, unfortunately there are a few. It is hot as hell in here at all times. I always feel like I'm sweating up a storm. The prices are a tad bit high. I am new to the area, but I am quickly learning that you pay for a "spa like atmosphere" even though it really is just pretty décor. There's still a bunch of people gabbing about you, kids and kitchen sink foot baths. Also, I was getting the basic gel mani here and all 3 times it chipped bad after a week. I know ladies that go elsewhere and there gel lasts at least 2 weeks if not 3.Total I end up paying about $65 pre-tip, that's a bit steep! read more

I've been coming to this nail salon for 11 years. It's VERY clean, has comfortable chairs and very nice employees.

I visited Kathy's Nail after being highly recommended by a manicure regular. I will admit that I am a chronic nail biter, but while myself and my friend (who recommended Kathy's) were getting a pedicure I was able to discuss my issue with nail biting and goals to grow them out using the 'dip' nail treatment method. I finally went in and made an appointment with Theresa (who came highly recommended) and discussed again, not just my goals to train me out of biting my nails, but also my upcoming major business conference that I wanted to look 'like a normal lady' like with my nails. That was Thursday. Today is Monday. I got fake nail tips attached on top of dipping. Drying off after a shower, I hit my nail against the tub edge and the entire tip and dip snapped off at the edge of my cuticle and caused me extreme pain. Now I am left with a jagged mess to attend my conference with. Some might say this is a minor inconvenience, but I was making a concerted effort to correct this flaw for a professional setting and found their services failed. I don't think I will be getting further services from this business. read more
