Stopped by for a quick lunch. It's located in the shopping complex where parking gets tricky. Service was quick and we ordered food at the counter via kiosk before we sat down. Sando was good, well prepared and tasted great. Curry plate was good as well. Flavors for both dishes were good. We ordered mild just in case not knowing the spice level. Once you order you cannot ask for spice on the side but they had other hot sauce. Overall it was a good place to get quick lunch on a weekday!
Excellent Katsu Curry. Their curry is about the best I've had, with different levels of spicy heat offered. Some Japanese curries get a bit sweet, which I don't like. This is rich and savory. The katsu breading is very good, and the macaroni is terrific. Minuses: the order screen is a real pain. And the LOUD STUPID HOUSE MUSIC AND HIPHOP is totally inappropriate for a dining establishment. We aren't all 14 yr old girls. 5 Stars for food. Minus 2 for very irritating music. Very bad business decision to have this LOUD garbage.
I've passed by this place a couple times and seeing how there's always people inside ordering I decided to try it myself. Ordered the katsu sando and the egg salad sando. Both were delicious in their own way. The egg salad sando was fresh and very well seasoned with dill. The katsu sando was warm and crunchy, very satisfying to bite into. Each were a great portion on its own. Enjoyed both very much.
Kind Employees and Curry Katsu Plate!! I got the Curry Katsu Plate and the Sausage Rice Cake. The Curry Katsu Plate came with Katsu (I chose pork), Macaroni Salad, Salad, Salad Dressing, Rice, and Curry. The Katsu, Curry, and Rice tasted great! The Macaroni Salad was the type of Macaroni Salad that came with bits of cabbage (I'm not sure if it's cabbage, but it just came with some sort of vegetable). It's not the typical Macaroni Salad you get at K-BBQ restaurants. The Salad and Salad Dressing was good, it was just Arugula salad. The Curry Katsu Plate comes in a flimsy tray. You can't really take it out of the box without the tray automatically dipping due to the weight of the food items. It's kind of inconvenient to eat out of if you wanted to get rid of the box. I just ripped the top part of the box and ate as is. The Sausage Rice Cake looked good from the photo on the menu. It came in a pretty small cup for $10, but I was willing to excuse it if the Sausage Rice Cake was good. The Rice Cakes tasted great, the sauce isn't too spicy, and it had the nice crispy texture. The Sausage was just hotdog texture, I thought they would maybe cook the Sausage so that there would be a bit of crisp on the edges. It just had the texture as if you microwaved a hotdog and cut it up and mixed it with the rice cakes. The employees were kind. I didn't really talk to them because I ordered through the self-order screen, but they were happy to give us napkins. The restaurant is very clean, and there's plenty of seating. There's a self-order screen near the register which is nice. Parking can be a bit hectic since there's a ton of businesses in the same plaza, but the walk isn't too bad. I would come here again, I'm curious about some of the menu items, and the food is pretty good.
I know this is a chain and they're known for their sandwiches--but can we talk about the katsu curry?! Feel like you can't have a good katsu joint without good katsu curry and this place is excellent for that! 4 spice levels. Medium gets the job done for me but no spice is also tasty for the less adventurous. The place is usually a little empty and their self ordering system doesn't match the menu. Still, this place is great for katsu dishes both in restaurant and for delivery. Definitely also recommend the katsu curry udon!
New Katsu place that recently opened up. You order at the counter on a kiosk. The kiosk was a bit non-user friendly but there was someone behind the counter to figure out where we got ourselves stuck (SIZE even when a drink only comes one size!). After that they bring the food to your table, and served on plates, not plastic. When ordering items with Curry, you have the option of no spice and then levels 1 thru 4. I chose level.1 and it was perfect. My friend chose level 2 and was happy as well. I ordered the Chicken Katsu Curry plate and my friend ordered the Pork. Both were very good with sides of rice, salad, and macaroni. Portions were generous and they have daily specials that are very good deals! Drinks were self serve soda machine. Small place inside but there are tables for 2 or 4 people. There are any tables outside. We arrived when they opened at 11am. No otger patrons yet. There were people coming as we were leaving. Several parties and now a line with that pesky ordering kiosk! Now that I know how to use the kiosk I would come back but it is a bit impersonal and off putting as a first impression. They should also have more than one kiosk.
Finally -- a katsu specialty spot in SoCal! Tried Kajubar today and it totally hit the spot. They've got katsu rice bowls, udon, sandwiches -- and even my favorite Asian-style egg salad sandwich Also tried the katsu sandwich -- soft, crispy, so good! The beef katsu was fresh and came with macaroni salad. Since discovering Katsu Bar last year, we've been huge fans of this small chain for their consistency, diverse menu, and of course the affordable prices/deals!!! The Cerritos location is very casual, no frills--the perfect hangout spot for you and your friends! We ordered and got our food super quick! Portions are generous and each of the different types of katsu comes out so crispy and delicious. My favorite has to be the shrimp katsu curry plate and egg sando. Curry has a nice spice to it! And the plate even comes with a small side of salad and rice. We'll always swing by Katsu Bar for a reliable, feel-good meal
I had a katsu sandwich at a food festival a while back and have been craving it since, so saying that I was excited to hear Katsu Bar sold sandwiches is an understatement. I ordered the rosemary katsu sando, which I believe is the most popular sandwich. I thought it was really enjoyable; I loved the contrast of the softness of the bread with the crispness of the chicken. Flavor wise, it was good but I felt like it was missing something...possibly spice? It also came with a side of waffle fries (which in my opinion, are the superior shape of fries) and they were perfectly delicious and crispy. The portion sizes here are pretty good and prices are fair. Service here was pretty limited as you order on a kiosk and seat yourself. The ambiance is casual but clean. It's located in a large plaza that can get busy, so you may have to park further away, but should find a spot in the lot.
We went for dinner last week. Thre is a lot of parking available. The restaurant itself is small but charming. And the service was wonderful. We ordered Fountain drinks and love that they have Stubborn Sodas. That is easily my favorite soda brand. We ordered two sandos. We got the iconic egg salad sando. The egg salad is so rich and delicious. The bread perfectly holds this sando together. We also got a Portobello katsu sando. I love Portobello mushrooms and having them deep fried made it even tastier. The arugula salad and balsamic dressing pairs perfectly in this sando. Both sandos are highly recommended to get. For our mains we got a kimchi dumpling curry. A generous portion of kimchi dumplings over rice with curry and three types of salads. You get a macaroni salad, an arugula salad and tsukemono. All of the salads were delicious. The dumplings were crispy on the outside and filled with kimchi on the inside. We also got a katsu curry udon. The udon noodles are cooked perfectly. The katsu is crispy on the outside and the chicken was soft and juicy on the inside. The curry brings it all together. Both of these curry dishes are a must have. We finished with a strawberry sando. A massive sanso filled with fresh strawberries and a subtlety sweet whipped cream. It was amazing and I am already thinking about another one. We had a wonderful dinner and look forward to coming back again soon.
We were craving katsu and happened to be at Cerritos Mall so we hopped on Yelp for recommendations. Fortunately, this casual, counter service place was right across the street. Our favorite savory dish here is the tteokbokki w/ (pork) katsu which had a slight kick in flavor. I say slight because I have a high tolerance for spicy foods so order at your own discretion.
I came to this spot during my lunchtime at work after having looked at there menu. I have been craving a katsu sando and it was definitely worth stopping by. The food options look delicious and my food was so! Service was quick and the workers are jovial. While I ordered to go, I wouldn't mind eating there.

Came here on a whim, left feeling unsatisfied. My sister and I came here for a quick lunch and We were amazed to have gotten fresh fried-to-order katsu sandwiches! The only unfortunate thing was that their mustard and berry sauce make the sandwich incredibly sweet and it loses that savory bite to the sandwich. Other than that, fries were extra crispy. read more
I was in the mood for katsu and decided to go to Katsu Bar. The parking lot can get crowded since there are so many businesses in this plaza but I found a spot. The restaurant itself is not too big, but there are a number of tables for dining in. I ended up ordering the daily special (black garlic udon with chicken katsu), as well as a pork katsu plate, with intentions of having leftovers. The udon was chewy and black garlic broth hot and very garlicky. I was impressed that the chicken katsu was able to stay fairly crispy even being soaked in the broth for the whole meal. The katsu plate came with pickled cabbage, arugula salad, and a scoop of macaroni salad, which was nice. The pork katsu was also fried very well and the steamed white rice was hot and fluffy. The curry sauce was not bad, though not particularly rich in flavor. All in all, a relatively inexpensive and certainly tasty katsu experience! Next time, I would love to try their portobello or beef katsus, and I know their sandwiches are quite good as well. read more

I ordered the original pork katsu sandwich w/ sides, and i was expecting it to look like the picture showing when submitting an online pick up order. However, I only got katsu on bread with 2 pickles and very little sauce. It also does not come with sides. Sides are an extra charge. Looked like a cheap fast food burger. I am quite sad to leave this review. I have always looked to katsu bar to give me my katsu curry (spicy) + pickled veggies fix given their consistent delivery on taste/quality. I have been sick, unable to eat for months and finally decided to order uber eats as I started getting my appetite back on top of watching a Korean version of "TedTalk" on TV on how this business started. Ordered the katsu curry along with a side order of their spicy garlic gang jung chicken bites. The packaging on the katsu changed, and they added a little side of macaroni + arugula salad which I thought was a nice upgrade. The presentation looked good, but the curry was extremely watery, and katsu was inedible. Not sure if there has been a shift in management, but the chicken on the katsu tasted soggy yet hard to chew....as if what I was chewing was not chicken. Also, their pickled veggies were not pickled, it felt like they just threw some vinegar on the sliced veggies and called it a day. Super disappointed....just hope it was an off day. To end this on a positive note, the chicken gang jung was really good, despite this place not being a true fried chicken spot! I would come back just for this. read more

If you want a good fast filling meal and love Katsu, Katsu bar is your place. At a decent price point you get your choice of protein (beef, chicken, fish, etc) with curry rice, salad mac salad, & I think it's fermented raddish correct me if I'm wrong I forgot; all for $15! Very pleased with how yummy it is I even thing it got better than the last time I've came. The place is really chill and a nice place to eat. Got the Cauliflower and mushroom tempura, the rosemary katsu sandwich, and the katsu curry plate. My favorite dish out of all of them was the mushroom tempura! Just be careful of the mushroom juices when you first bite into it and wait a bit after it comes out, unlike what I did. Which was eat it right away because I was so hungry. I got the berry sauce on the sandwich because I thought it was interesting, but I ended up not liking it as much. Overall it was a cute small place. read more

We tried this place and were not impressed. I had the egg sandwich, husband had the rice and chicken and my daughter had the fried pork sandwich. The tastier item was her sandwich. We would have to try again to see if we like other things in the menu. read more
A few of us wanted to go for a snack in between meals and we heard great things about Katsu Bar, so we placed an online order and it was ready when we got there. We tried the following items - Rosemary Katsu Sando - crispy piece of meat with flavors that go well together along with the bread and meat. Each bite was rather consistent, which I appreciated. Egg sando - not sure of the official name, but it's the sandwich with the egg salad. It looked amazing with the pieces of egg right on display. The yolk wasn't overdone at all. I didn't try this sandwich, but my friends enjoyed it. Waffle fries - can't go wrong with these! Good amount of crisp and whatnot. There wasn't anyone eating there when we were there, perhaps because it was in between meals, but people did come and go for to go orders. The tables and chairs inside were standard, just a tiny bit greasy. Nice casual spot. I'd definitely return again to try more than sandwiches and fries if I lived closer to the area. Finally had the chance to try this place & it was tasty and very filling! We ordered the Rosemary Katsu Sandwich + waffle fries and a Dill Egg Salad Sandwich. The order took about 15mins since the sandwiches are freshly made. Pros: - Bread was super soft, I believe they mentioned using Japanese milk bread. - Waffle fries were so good! They were seasoned well & on the crispier side but we got a few thick potato-y pieces that we really enjoyed. - Egg Salad was nice and light, dill flavor was not too overpowering - Katsu cutlet was nice and crispy, not dry at all, even though we chose chicken (pork is an option too) Cons: - I wasn't really a fan of the berry katsu sauce. I got more used to it as I ate it, but I personally thought the tart berry flavor was a bit too intense for the sandwich. It still paired well so it's more of my personal preference. - Egg salad felt a bit too dry on the inside. A soft boiled egg or a tiny bit more mayo would've made this sandwich perfect. - Not a lot of seating inside, and parking was a struggle in the plaza Overall it was a nice and filling lunch for two people at about $25. I was in the area looking for a new foodie spot & found this place. After sampling their items I understood why they're so popular! This is now one of the best Japanese sandwich spots, hands down! Quick service joint with one machine to order which could get frustrating. Food came out relatively quickly so that was appreciated. We had the chicken curry plate along with the udon black garlic with pork katsu. Katsu was cooked perfected. The noodles were good. The broth from the garlic was not bad but wanted more flavor. Pretty decent place for some good Japanese sandwiches. The dill egg salad sandwich was good. Didn't get much dill flavor, but okay price too for this "egg-conomy". Came in right before dinner rush so no crowd. You order through their tablet at front register. Price is okay, a little steep for what it is. Parking is in a REALLY busy complex so it can get nasty during lunch/rush hour. Overall, I'm not blown away, but it's still an okay spot. read more
Stopped here at 2 PM for late lunch. You self order off of the two counter top tablets. 3 different kinds of katsu meat to choose from - beef, pork, and chicken. We got the curry katsu chicken plate and a 6 piece shrimp tempura appetizer. The appetizer was only $6 and was hot and delicious. Good sized shrimp. But... no real tempura dipping sauce. Instead they have a garlic aioli dipping sauce. But my wife doesn't eat garlic!! So we dipped the shrimp in the curry sauce. The chicken katsu plate was delicious. It's all breast meat, cooked to perfection and served piping hot. The plate included a cabbage salad, arugula salad, and macaroni salad. Loved them all and hats off to them for not drenching the Mac salad in mayonnaise. We will be back. read more
This place is really good! I got the rosemary katsu sando, fried chicken, and yuzu drink. The sandwich is very typical, with katsu and cabbage in between, but I really liked the fried chicken since it's crunchy and flavorful. Will definitely recommend for people who enjoy katsu. read more
Decided to give this place a try. Small restaurant with piloted seating. Good amount of choices on the menu. Easy to order Ordered the rosemary katsu Sando, katsu udon, tempura mushroom. I find the katsu was nicely breaded and fried. Even with the udon soup the katsu remained flavorful with the soup it soaked up. The mushrooms were quite good. Juicy and flavorful. We were meeting friends in the surrounding area and decided to Yelp a new place for all of us to try. Katsu Bar came up and we were glad we made the right choice. Hubby and I shared: Rosemary Katsu Pork Sando - Berry katsu sauce, yuzu cabbage, whole grain mustard aioli on Japanese milk bread. Caprese Chicken Sando - Berry katsu sauce, fresh basil, tomato, fresh mozarella cheese, balsamic vinaigrette dressing, on Japanese milk bread. Dilled Egg Salad Sando - Homemade egg salad with fresh dill on Japanese milk bread. We really enjoyed all of items, but our favorite is the pork katsu sando and the egg salad sando. I feel like they are the closest in taste like on our trips in Japan! It was not that crowded the night we went, but since they are made to order it does take a little patience to get your food. For desserts the worker gave us these complimentary mini ice cream macarons which was really nice of him, even though he didn't know the flavors of each. lol We would definitely come back if we are in the Cerritos area. read more

The menu at Katsu Bar offers a decent variety of sandwiches, sandos, curry, and salads, but my eyes went straight to the sandos! I decided to try the Rosemary Katsu Sando ($9.50) and the Dill Egg Salad Sando ($8.50) because I love egg salad sandwiches. After placing our order at the self-service kiosk, we grabbed a table indoors and our food was brought over quickly within 5 minutes. I was looking forward to the egg salad sando the most, but was pleasantly surprised to find I actually enjoyed the Rosemary Katsu Sando more. You can choose between pork or chicken katsu but we decided to opt for the former. The pork was piping hot and tasted so good sandwiched between the perfectly soft Japanese milk bread (from 85 Bakery) slathered with their katsu sauce and mustard aioli. The rosemary flavor didn't come through for me, but I still really enjoyed my sando and would definitely order it again! Each sando is cut into 3 pieces and the portion size is moderately small so if you're typically a big eater, you may want to consider getting a second sando. I ate almost 2 sandos (about 1 and 2/3) and was satisfied. Seating at the restaurant is minimal so this may not be the most ideal for larger groups. Be prepared to circle around for parking a couple times because it can get quite crowded as there are a number of eateries in the plaza. read more

My husband has been wanting to come here for awhile so we decided to take the trip to Cerritos to try this spot out. It was a neat process, you order the food on a tablet and wait at the table. We came for the Dill Egg Salad Sando, which to our surprise not our favorite sandwich. We enjoyed the Rosemary Katsu Sando and Caprese Katsu Sando. The bread is so yummy and fun fact they work with 85 degree bakery to source the bread. The main star of the show was the Korean Gang Jung (Tender bites). They were so tender and perfectly cooked! I believe there were two options and we went with the garlic option. The fries were decent, pairs well with the garlic aioli sauce (50 cents) per sauce. My first experience with Katsu Bar was in Westminster, and compared to this Cerritos location, the Westminster one is far superior than this Cerritos one in terms of quality of food and service My go-to order is the Portobello Katsu Sando. Wow--this sandwich is PACKED with flavor. Props to the combination of berry katsu sauce and portobello mushrooms. I'm not vegetarian, but the portobello could really pass off as meat if I didn't know what I was eating or if I closed my eyes. Service is slow (especially since there always seems to be only 1-2 people working at a time) and needs improvement. Parking can be tough depending on the time of day. Also, every time I come in, the floors are sticky for some reason--not sure if it's just my shoes or if they accidentally dropped a bucket of sauce one day and never cleaned it up lol Overall, I'd come here again only for the food. I never had a chicken katsu sandwich before and I'm glad my first time was here! When you walk inside, you place your order on the ipads. Then you wait for one of the workers to bring out the food. I had a rosemary chicken katsu with spicy mayo and really liked how the chicken was cooked. It was crunchy and had a nice texture to it. But one thing I was missing was the...rosemary lol. Another thing is this restaurant could expand more on their sauce selections for the sandwiches and perhaps adding Japanese inspired flavors. read more
