    Curry Katsu Don - $13.75.
    Elaine W.

I believe I came across this cafe through social media, but I had the intention of dining in when I made it a purpose to try this place. When I walked in, there were only about 3-4 small tables, so you can immediately notice that their business is heavily involved in more take-out than dine-in. Even so, that did not take away from our dine-in experience. The staff was super nice, the food was really good and surprisingly reasonably priced. Although my curry katsu is fried, it still did not feel heavy. I really liked the food and would like to come back if I am ever in the area again.

Love this spot. Was worried last year when I started to see the reviews on quality going down. I visited yesterday and am happy to report- food is still excellent! Light, crispy fry, big portions! They specialize in Katsu, it's pretty much the only thing on the menu! They also provide rice, cabbage slaw and dipping sauce, all for ~$15. Inside is chill, not fancy. Those at the front desk are kind and quick. Highly recommend!

After a recent takeout experience, I am updating my review to reflect the negative food experience that I had compared to the previous (many!) takeout instances. Per my family's usual, we got an order of Wang donkatsu and was sorely disappointed at how soggy and greasy the donkatsu was this time around, especially given that I had previously rated the restaurant at 5 stars because of the fact that the fried cutlet was crispy and light (in terms of greasiness), even after a 30-ish minute drive. In addition, the Wang sauce, which is made in-house, lacked the depth and richness in flavor that was its trademark. The consistency was similar, but the flavor was just salty and completely not the same as what we had come to expect from the sauce. It's possible that this was a one-time fluke, or it may be the case that they are putting more effort into their second location that opened in the Little Ferry Hmart -- according to my brother who ate from there recently, it was reminiscent of what the Wang donkatsu at the Fort Lee location used to be like. Whatever the reason is, the feeling of disappointment that another restaurant has changed for the worst is too real.

This is rating my delivery experience for the katsune donkatsu which is the pork katsu, it was fried just right, the meat was perfectly tender and very meaty for what you get! Highly reco checking them out

Stopped by with four people for a quick bite. Very simple katsu spot--you order at the counter, and there are only about five tables for dine-in or you can do takeout. We tried the pork original (comes with two pieces of katsu, salad, and rice) and the curry version with curry sauce. Food came out pretty quickly. The crust was tasty and the portions were just enough to satisfy. Could use a little more seasoning, which would have elevated the meal, but overall a good spot for a quick, casual bite. Plus, there's plenty to do in the area!

The best chicken katsu I have ever had in my life!! So crunchy and so soft at the same time. Always crave it on the weekends and it's worth a trip to fort Lee!! Recommend dining in to get it served hot and fresh.

The pork katsu portion is quite big. However, the meat is not very well seasoned. For the cheese pork katsu, it has lots of cheese and the pork is quite thin. I ordered the version with sweet potato paste on top; it's more on the sweet side. It is not bad, but feel like there is too much. Also it's close to $20 for 4 pieces, a bit expensive imo. The cabbage in the salad is cut quite thick instead of shredded finely and the sauce is honey mustard, leaning more mustard flavor. Weird that you need to pay $1 for a cup of ice

The batter for the katsu is sooo flaky and thin and amazing. So crispy and not overly oily or heavy. I love the sesame dressing that comes with the cabbage salad, as well as the pickled radishes. Solid lunch option and very generous portions.

A great place to pick up some good quality katsu. I like their katsu because their meat to batter ratio is very good. A lot of places will use a super thin piece of pork or chicken and then smother it in way too much batter where you barely taste the meat. Katsune doesn't do that. Their pork and chicken katsu use thick cuts of meat and the batter is light and crispy. Their wang sauce goes great with the katsu. Though the curry is pretty good as well.

Came here with high expectation cause of the solid reviews. I'll say that overall, they are good but not the best. Don't get me wrong, their batter is nice and light, better than other katsu that I've tasted in US. However, they could have gotten a better piece of meat (fattier) and it's a little over fried for my liking (it's a little dry). If they fix that, it will be the bomb! My gold standard is the Katsu that I had in Tokyo which check all the boxes but also more expensive than this. At least this one is priced good. Cheese katsu is different. Tasted like fancier version of mozzarella stick. Their sauce is a little strong. I put just a little on my katsu in order not to overwhelm the meat.

My first time trying Korean katsu and it was pretty good! They have a few (2-3) parking spots for customers, but were occupied when I went. We had to find another spot to park. Cheese donkatsu - it's like a huge melty, mozzarella stick. The batter of this katsu is light and crispy unlike the typical heavier breadcrumb breading of mozzarella sticks. While the exterior is perfect, I felt the cheese was a little plain. It's certainly interesting and my first time trying this, but I probably wouldn't order this again. Katsune donkatsu - again, their breading is perfect. Super light and crunchy. However, I felt like the meat was a little dry and tough. A fattier cut of meat would have taken this to another level. I might be back to try their Wang Donkatsu. Hopefully it will be juicier than the Katsune.

Wow, Katsune lived up to expectation. The batter was so light and crispy. I ordered chicken and it was tender, not tough and rubbery. My sister got the shrimp katsu and it was pretty good too. Maybe I'll try pork katsu next time. The tempura coating seems shredded rather than granular, which could be what makes it so light and airy. The katsu meal comes with rice (perfectly cooked), sauce(more about it later), cabbage salad, and veggie pickles in soy vinegar (jalapeño, onion, chayote). Cabbage salad dressing was mayo based with slight mustardy taste and a hint of ketchup I think. It was pretty good. I liked the pickles but missed kimchi. I wasn't loving their donkatsu sauce though. I found it too salty, strong in flavor and too tangy. But their tender, crispy katsu makes up for it. They do have seating but it's more of a quick eat and go or take out kind of place. Not much of an atmosphere here. I wish the dine in food comes on plate instead of in to-go containers. I'll definitely get cravings for their katsu in the near future. There goes my triglyceride level!

Best katsus I've ever had is from this place. Portion sizes are super filling! I cannot rave about this place enough. My new favorite is their shrimp. The shrimps are massive and they give you 6!!! That's a hefty portion! Seating is limited indoors, and super casual. Service is pretty quick.

I ordered the Unagi Don Gozen ($42)- it came with a whole tray of different delicious items, with the star of the show being a generous amount of unagi (eel) over rice. The eel was cooked very well and the rice was flavorful with a bit of sweetness. There was also a small bowl of udon noodles, some sashimi, a crispy tempura shrimp in a yummy creamy sauce, flavorful edamame, mashed potato with corn, and some pickled veggies - quite the diverse array, all of which was tasty. The restaurant itself has a rather simple yet elegant Japanese wooden design. The prices suggest it's a more high end place, but the vibe is actually rather casual. The staff are very attentive and the service speed is pretty quick. Overall, I would definitely give Moru 4.5 stars if I could. I think it's great for most types of occasions, and the only reasons it's not getting 5 stars is because I do think the prices are a tad higher than I would've hoped and I think they could've done a bit more in terms of designing the place to match the price point. That being said, I still highly recommend Moru, especially for a nice lunch.

If you are thinking, no need to think. Go! Trust me! You won't regret it! First of all, the sushi chefs are Japanese, so you know that the sushi is going to be legit. And it was busy there from customers and take-out, so you know that everything will be fresh, too. There were so many options to choose from the menu, so I had to ask for a recommendation. My friend and I were recommended to try the omakase option and, boy, that was a perfect choice! There were 3 types of omakase and we chose the first one. -Sushi omakase - $70 -Sashimi omakase - $80 -Sushi & sashimi omakase - $90 This was my first omakase experience where I walked out super full and impressed. -We were advised to eat each piece without soy sauce because each piece was curated with their own unique flavors. -After our first bite, we were advised that we could ask the sushi chef to adjust the rice and wasabi ratio in each sushi piece. We decided to keep it as is. -The wasabi here is really good, but spicy, so if you can't handle the spiciness, definitely ask for less. I was crying because of the wasabi but I didn't want it to be adjust because it was so good. -On the menu, it states that you have 2 hours, which allowed us to enjoy the omakase at a nice pace. -The udon soup you get in the end is made with hand-cut, chewy noodles and it was a perfect ending. -And this omakase also includes a dessert at the end, which was a perfect sweet ending. I hope you made the right decision to come here for your sushi craving/experience. Once you come here, I bet this will be your regular sushi spot. Tips: -Yamagata in a small shopping plaza with parking, but it fills up fast. There is metered parking on the street if needed. -This place is cozy and intimate, so if you are planning to come at a busy time, I would suggest calling to make a reservation. -For the omakase experience, if you can, sit at the sushi counter so that you could get the full experience by getting each sushi piece from the sushi chef.
