I first came here as a videographer shooting an introduction of local businesses. I was impressed by the characteristics the owner rooted into every corner of the place and especially enjoyed the welcoming patio. The second time I got to experience the traditional yet fulfilling dishes on the menu. This restaurant got a place in our heart since then. The pandemic hit and we were more than glad to see the OPEN sign walking towards the door more than a year after. The waiter welcomed us from the doorway. Coffee was hot and healing as usual. The Benedict melted in the mouth and the heart. Wheat toasts are crunchy and fruity taste. The manager came by to check in with us and showed happiness about in-person dining. At the glimpse before customers putting up their masks to walk out, I saw all the smiles of feeling content. Staff are happy behind the counter nad laughters came behind masks. Came here for breakfast before taking my sister to the airport. We're usually not big breakfast people, despite it being the most important meal of the day. Katy's is definitely a neighborhood gem. I did not realize the inside was so throwback and cool, with lots of quirky signs and artwork. The menu had lots of interesting breakfast options that you don't see at too many places (Irish and Icelandic-themed cuisine for example). I ordered the Icelandic Pancakes, three large ultra-thin crepes filled with fresh blueberries, strawberries, and blackberries and smothered with whipped cream. Definitely a treat, and I actually like these more than the crepes at Creperie in LV Paris and Aria's J.P. (5 stars) Wife got the scrambled egg platter with smoked salmon and Everything Bagel. I nibbled a little at each of the items and liked them - not overly salty, just right. I liked the roasted potatoes with the crispy exterior and slightly firm (not mushy) interior. (4 stars) Service was friendly and attentive. Coffee was always refilled promptly and workers here are extremely nice. One of my favorite breakfast and lunch places in the area. The food is delicious with a diverse menu. If you're there for lunch try a bowl of their homemade tomato soup. Excellent choice. This is the third time I've been here for breakfast. I went with more people this time. It was busy. San Ramon schools were off today. My friends who came are regulars and live in the neighborhood. It's the first time I had to wait for a table. I usually just have 2 people in my party but I said 5 and those tables were taken so it was a short wait. They have two dining rooms one in the back too plus one for outside seating. It was cold so we wanted to sit inside. My friends came and we ended up only being 4 people to be seated so we had an easier time to be seated. As always we had wonderful coffee, great service and nice big breakfasts. I tried the Salmon Spinach Eggs Benedict and it came with a side of potatoes that were yummy too. The hot chocolate is popular among the kids so my son tried it. He enjoyed his pancakes and side of bacon. We definitely will be back when we visit our friends in San Ramon. read more

We've been coming here for over 20 years and have always enjoyed eating breakfast here. Haven't been here in about a year. Came today and was so disappointed. The French toast tasted stale and was not pillowy like we are used to eating here, the bacon had tons of fat on it and was cold when we got it, the potatoes were cold and tasted like they had been in the fridge for a week. My husband's coffee had something floating in it. The real kick in the stomach was when I went and paid for it $103 dollars before tip for 4 people for just regular breakfast, we didn't order anything fancy. Horrible. For that price I expect every bite to be amazing. Makes me feel taken advantage of. We've always loved this place and I'm sad to say we will not be coming back. I love reviewing places from my hometown! Especially now that I don't live there anymore, I love nostalgia. I was born and raised in little old San Ramon and I remember coming to Katy's Korner with my uncle and sister for weekend breakfast growing up. I haven't had a reason to hang out in San Ramon for so long because my family moved out of the area as well. My uncle has since moved out of the country but he was visiting California last week. My sister and I took him here for Saturday brunch to bring back old memories. It's still the same Katy's Korner that I remember with all the advertisements on their tables and mugs LOL. Whenever I come here I always order their Dungeness crab benedict. The food is always good here and I love the small town diner feel. The only thing was that service was not the best it could have been, our server was not that friendly and it took him a while to take our order. We went there for breakfast as a family yesterday. It was great to see it was busy. We've been here many times before and have loved it. Good food. Excellent service. Fun atmosphere with hilarious sayings and cute pictures on the walls. Awesome place. BUT! We get there yesterday and there's a guy we've never seen at the door. He kind of waves us on in...once inside we are told by the person behind the counter that the host will seat us as she points to the guy who just waved us in. So we turn back around and all four of us squeeze back outside and he greets us with a flat face and I swear almost looks at us up and down and I could just feel this terrible vibe from him. Extremely unfriendly! Like what the heck did we do to you, man? By now there's someone else who's arrived and has a party of two. We tell him we have four in our party. Then he awkwardly bundles us two parties and leads the way to the very back of the restaurant where he seats us next to the bathroom--and on the way tosses the menus for the party of two who I'm guessing is walking in behind us at a different table--and just keeps going. I notice there are 3 menus on our table. I let him know and he barely glances back at me to acknowledge that very rudely. He later comes back, and throws a 4th menu at my husband and practically slams the utensil wraps on the table and just walks away. We're like what is it with this guy? Later the service progresses without a hiccup by the other staff. They're excellent. We asked our waitress if the guy who's been an absolute disaster seating us is the owner. And they say YES!! Appalling! Wow!!! THIS is why, for very obvious reasons, we will never be coming back and taking our business elsewhere. Whoever this guy is and whatever his reason for being this rude to customers is absolutely unacceptable! No thank you. AND they charge $20 for a plate of some smoked salmon, a dry falling apart plain bagel a couple of slices of tomato and onion, a packet of cream cheese and a little bit of potatoes! Bye! Honestly I've never been so disappointed in my entire life. My boyfriend and I use to come here every Saturday for brunch and over the past 2 years this place gets worse and worse with every visit. We took a break for a year and this morning decided to give Katy's one more shot. Not only were we greeted by 3 different people in the solid one minute we had been there, which is extremely excessive, but once our order was taken it took almost 35-40 minutes to get the food. While waiting, I had a clear view of the food window and I watched my waiter (he's possibly the manager as well) grab toast with his bare hands and put them on customers plates. I also watched him do a bunch of stuff with his hands before handling the toast and not once did I see him wash his hands or even use hand sanitizer. I was grossed out and once our food came I could only take 2 bites. Katy's use to be so good and it's truly a shame and heart breaking to see it be ran so carefree. This place is a San Ramon staple and I hope to see in the future that they get their shit together and let Katy's live on because at this rate they don't have much time left. read more

At one time this most have an amazing restaurant. Clearly someone who cared decorated the dining room. That person is gone. Restaurant must have been sold and new owners decided to raise prices and cut service. No greeting at front door, potatoes not all the way cooked and bacon was burned. Walnut Creek is pretty city, walking around the streets among the shops and restaurants. Katy's was delicious! Metered street parking. Great weekend breakfast in the East Bay. They have a ton of outdoor seating, friendly/attentive staff, wide menu variety and large portions. You won't leave here hungry! Absolutely HANDS DOWN the best Eggs Benedict. I have been coming here since I was a kid and I always get the Classic Eggs Bene, and it never disappoints. The hollandaise is always rich, perfect flavor and texture (you can tell it's perfectly house made). The eggs are always poached wonderfully and the potatoes are excellent as well. Some other favorites include the Huevos Rancheros, Corned Beef and Hash, and Belgian Waffle. My favorite San Ramon breakfast joint. So cute and homey on the inside. Give them a try! I was told by one of their other locations that the owner is out of the country, so that could explain the lack in pride in their food. When I arrived to pick up my to go order the waitress was not that nice, when a person orders food to go it's a given to provide utensils , I was asked did I need them? I declined I happened to have a extra set at my desk but had I planned on eating it my car I don't think she would have been to happen to give them to me. On the way home from a road trip and stopped at the San Ramon Katy's for a quick breakfast. Food was ok, and abit disappointing and not what I had remembered. I ordered the combo French toast, eggs, with one sausage and two strips of bacon. The French toast tasted like it was made 20 minutes ago and kept warm until ordered. My two strips of bacon also felt the same. They were overcooked and hard to chew. The eggs were fine as well as the one fat, juicy sausage was excellent and tasty. Wish it was two pieces of sausage instead and no bacon. Service was great. We were greeted warmly and led to a table immediately. The server was attentive and took our orders right away. He also checked on us at the right time for coffee fill up and for anything else we needed. As I looked around, I noted the bus staff worked hard to clear tables immediately. So a call out to great staff! The dining room is long and abit dark. Outdoor seating is available. On the fence if we would want to come back here. read more

I was REALLY looking forward to trying this place. It's literally down the street from me and I was disappointed. My last go to breakfast joint was Bill's in Willow Glen, I could get there in 5 min and prior to that it was Country Way when we lived in Fremont. Those 2 places have set a high bar and Katy's didn't come close. I did a phone order and took less than a 2 min drive home. My car smelled like heaven! But my pet peeve with take out orders is when the boxes are not vented! I don't want my crispy waffle to be a sad soggy mess before I can add syrup. On to the food...I ordered a strawberry waffle combo. The waffle had a metallic taste and was soggy. The eggs were fine but how does one mess up eggs? The bacon was also soggy. Katy's corner has all the usual suspects but are known for their Benedicts and Blintzs. Although there is a large parking lot out front it is shared by numerous business and if you come at prime time you might find yourself circling around looking for a spot. Pro Tip - On weekends parking and crowds are less before 8 and after 10 Surprisingly large with outdoor seating on the deck and numerous tables stretched along the long corridor towards the back. In the fall the trees over the deck drops lots of stuff and tables beneath them require you cover your plates. The Joes Special with spinach and eggs and mushrooms is a great starter. Comes with home potatoes and toast. I took our waitresses suggestion and got my with the sautéed chicken and it was very good. California Benedict - Rich and creamy with Avocado and turkey and perfectly poached eggs. You'll note that their hollandaise sauce is darker, more orange than most. Basque Omelet - A nice savory breakfast choice with Chorizo, onions, bell peppers, sour cream and salsa. Very Berry Blintz - A sweet offering, but the the ricotta mutes some of the sweetness and the fresh berries (when in season) top it off well. This dish may be too sweet for some (on the border for me) for breakfast, but is a popular dish. read more

She was all over her French toast while I delighted in a Belgian waffle. I don't know why I'm such a fan of this place. It's sort of unassuming with big portions. I wouldn't say it's the most unique or adventurous food, but it's really solid for a good price point. Patio seating? Yes, please! (I think I may be thee only San Ramon/Danville resident that can say that???) That being said, I am now in the know on why this place is so popular. First of all, it's a darling place. I love the old school, breakfast diner decor with the funny plaques on the walls (I posted pictures of a few of them). Second, our service was pleasant and fast (love that). Don't typically order out for breakfast, but was in a pinch this morning. I also don't normally write reviews, but felt compelled to provide feedback on this one. Waffle was soggy and the texture was very tough and dense... it did not taste fresh at all. I also ordered a cinnamon roll which was dry and had a strange "old" taste. This is the second time coming here. I'm bumping it from 4 to 3 stars. It was Sunday morning around 10:30am and it was super duper busy. The wait was about 20 minutes so we were offered to wait outside with complimentary coffee. By the time we got seated, our waitress was too busy and someone else took our order. We added 1 slice of toast to the entree order and they charged us $2.75!! The eggs benedict entrees were about $10 each. Hot chocolate was nice and chocolaty with a huge whipped cream topping. Costs about $4 (equivalent to a cup of coffee). The hash were soggy and this time we didn't receive much on the plate as compared to the first visit. Part of my potatoes were burnt. I was very disappointed with my eggs benedict. of the three yolks, one was 3/4 cooked, the other two were half cooked. I should have told them to make me a new one or take it off the bill but they were so busy, you couldn't really get anyone. O well. I will just have fond memories with my first experience. Lesson learned, it's hit or miss. If they are super busy, they compromise quality and consistency. I will not be coming here again very soon. read more
