Came here for Mother's Day and was waiting for a table. The host yelled at me twice telling me my entire group needed to be here. He never told me when I first got there that everybody had to be here. And the second time my family was walking up and he yelled at me and said I need to see everybody! They were right behind me! Traveling through California and came across this restaurant on my search. I have to search for restaurants that offer foods that are gluten free, lactose free and offer chicken and seafood as well. I saw that this restaurant offers trout and eggs along with crab/vegetarian omelets. Trout was flavorless with no seasoning and cooked too long to where half of the trout was trout jerky. The vegetarian omelette with crab added wasn't any better. The crab flavor throughout the omelette tasted very fishy and NOT fresh. We eat crab all the time and know the difference between fresh crab meat and rancid. The one star is for the potatoes...they were decent. The coffee cups could use some darn bleach water! My wife and I go here about once a week or so for a nice breakfast out. We don't normally eat breakfast but it's a nice neighborhood place that has been in its location for years. I know the owner Ari, see him working out at the local gym and he is a very nice guy. The folks who work at Katys Korner, Suzy, Enrique and Alex are awesome, they always welcome us with hot coffee and a delish breakfast. We commonly split our breakfast to reduce how much we are eating and the folks there have no issue with it. We love Katys Korner and hope to frequent it well into the future. read more

I've heard of this place from people who live in San Ramon and it seems to be a popular location for brunch/breakfast. I decided to check this out with bunch of friends on a Saturday morning for brunch. I think the menu has delicious looking items and when I saw other people's plate of food, I wanted to try everything! I ordered the Irish benedict, I enjoyed it a lot. I do feel like the prices are higher than I would like but maybe nowaday, everything just cost more. Everyone else at my table also enjoyed their food such as their pancakes, eggs, etc. The service was good. We had two kids at our table so this place is definitely kid friendly. They have outdoor seating and it's really cute and cozy outside. So if it's a nice day, you can enjoy the weather. It's also dog friendly, which is always a plus on my end! I did enjoy my brunch here and everything. I might come back depending on how my wallet feels, they do give a hefty portion though. The parking lot is small but it is still doable to find parking. I drive on San Ramon Valley Blvd all the time, and this little cozy restaurant can easily be missed, it blends in with all the shops and it doesn't scream restaurant if you're not looking for it. read more

Found this through my maps restaurant recommendation and decided to try it out. seating was easy, not a busy time when I came by. I was served coffee almost instantly which I really appreciate. menue had a large selection of different breakfast and lunch items. I went with the Joe's special which had extra lean ground beef mixed with scrambled eggs and veggies with a side of potatoes. Also, ordered a side of ham which we t very well with the toast. The Joe's special was delicious, and had plenty of ground beef in it which went very well with the scrambled eggs. The potatoes were excellent, cooked to perfection and delicious. the atmosphere was welcoming and the coffee kept coming. The artwork on the walls is what I enjoyed the most. Got to try this lil spot right across enlighten float. What a lil treasure this spot was. The interior decorating of this place is freaking cute. Such a laid back feeling. Not going to lie, this was one of my fav places to go to for breakfast. Haven't been here in quite awhile and realized it definitely has gone downhill. Although, we got seated quickly (should have been my first clue as usually there is quite a wait and it's a Saturday morning), no one came to give us coffee or take our order for a long time. Finally found the coffee guy but then trying to find a waiter was near impossible. The older guy who is the host ( I assume) finally took our order but never apologized about the wait or anything. My husband and I ate here on Sunday 7/7/24. I was really disappointed in the food, it was NOT good. I ordered classic eggs Benedict, my plate was flooded with barely warm hollandaise sauce, which was used to cover up the thin sized, shredded, torn-up English muffin. The breakfast potatoes were seasoned well but unfortunately they were served cold. My husband order a bacon, mushroom and cheese omelette. He said the omelette tasted like it was made with powdered eggs and the bacon was more like hard bacon bits. His plate also came with cold breakfast potatoes. From a local's recommendation, we decided to get breakfast at Katy's Korner cafe, an old time place that is a throw back to the 70s, with decor that may not have changed much since that time. The brunch menu listed several types of eggs Benedict. Since it was Sunday, I decided to splurge and ordered the Dungeness Crab Benedict while my wife got the regular one with ham. Both came with three poached eggs and were topped with an almost too-rich orange Hollandaise sauce. My crab version had very few discernible pieces of crab on it and my wife said her ham tasted "watery". The potatoes which accompanied the egg dishes were decent, but not very warm and certainly not on the "hot and fresh off the grill" side. The coffee was mediocre too, just a bad blend in my opinion. The service was friendly enough, but it doesn't make up for the food's characteristics. Since I don't live in the area, I won't have to decide whether I return there or not. Server started bothering us again and again to order, even though I told them twice that we needed some more time. They approached us at least 5 times in 10 mins. Living in San Ramon for almost 30 years, been going there almost as much. Since it has changed hands it hasn't been the same, portions are much smaller, the presentation of the food not like it was, and I had to actually ask for spoons for our coffee. Don't know why you have to ask for spoons in a coffee shop, nobody got them. Service was on par, and it should be with the amount of people working there. Seems like there is a lot of confusion, not the well oiled machine it use to be. The food is good, but a side of bacon came half burned, and half barely cooked. But to my surprise it was a great investment I made walking in here with my family. Today Katys wasn't at its best. Ive never had french toast with just ONE slice of French toast and it was so cold that the butter didn't even melt when I put it on top of it. The bacon was cold and chewy like it had been sitting on the plate for minutes. The one sausage was burnt. The order of steak and eggs was just as miserable. The steak was overcooked and not even seasoned with salt and pepper. They plated a toast and a half of sourdough. What happened to the half of toast? Returned them, got a separate dish of watery insta-eggs. Asked waitress to speak to the owner regarding the terrible food. Waitress told me that the owner refused to come over and talk to us. The waitress told us that the restaurant was understaffed and trying their best. I asked her: 1. Are you satisfied with the food you served us? 2. If the restaurant was so understaffed, then why were they gladly accepting more clients than they could handle? Poor response from the owner, disgusting/inedible food, and over priced. I had a work assignment in the area for four years and Katy's Korner was in our team's lunch rotation spot. Fast forward nine years later, my co-worker arranged a lunch get-together for our group of ten. Located at a strip mall, parking was easy in the mall lot. The restaurant is large and our table was set up in the back. Katy's is known for its breakfast items with its extensive choices of benedicts, omelets, meat and eggs items, pancakes and waffles combos and specialties of the house. If breakfast food is not your favorite, they do have burgers, sandwiches, fish and chips and salads. I usually get their omelets, but on this day I opted for one of their specialties, corn beef hash and eggs. Served in a mini-skillet, the corn beef hash was not out of a can. It is homemade with diced potatoes, onions, mushrooms and green onions and topped with two poached eggs. You also get your choice of toast with a side of homestyle potatoes. Very good and hearty portions. Service was efficient and water glasses refilled. The meal brought back memories of working out here in years past. Food was very good as it was back then. read more

First time we went there, it was decent and close enough to my home that I figured it would become our go-to. Went back today and was disappointed with the food and service. We got a tiny, overcooked omelette, and really gross, bitter coffee. I had to ask for creamer three times before I finally got it, and my coffee was cold by then. Never offered to refill it, although it was so bad I didn't want more. (The creamer didn't help). Service was minimal, and the place wasn't very busy. Won't be returning, a Starbucks breakfast would've tasted better and cost a fraction of what I paid here nearly $40 for an omelette, kid's pancake, gross drip coffee and a hot chocolate. read more

To preface this review, let just say I love the food here at Katy's Korner... both in Walnut Creek, as well as in San Ramon. That said, my review is more about disappointment with the seeming "thirstyness" being displayed more and more throughout the industry (i. e. individualizing every item under the sun, so as to be able to charge "extra"; or the rise of mandatory "tips" and/or "service charges"... where in my life's experience the tips were a customer's way to show TRUE APPRECIATION for a waitress or waiter for having done an excellent job or, simply in appreciation of a highly competent professional in a fast paced environment)... Today, I dropped in for a quick breakfast of 3 eggs, 4 bacon, country potatoes & choice of Honey Wheat Berry, or Sourdough toast. In my efforts to reduce my tendency to over eat, instead of ordering the 4 pieces of toast, I requested the 2 pieces of English muffin. Surprisingly enough, the waitress mumbled something about there being a "dollar more charge" for the English muffin. Okay, I thought... it is what it is & okayed the substitution charge. Upon receiving my check, I noticed a 2 dollar increase & while 2 dollars isn't an issue, I have to say that I had to question management about the inconsistency of logic: FOUR pieces of Honey Wheat or Sourdough toast: INCLUDED FOR FREE... substituting the 4 pieces for TWO pieces of English Muffin: TWO DOLLARS CHARGE???? It's, illogical... and, I'm sorry to say, simply "Thirsty" for such a nice restaurant. I ask management of this great restaurant to at least use "logic" when increasing prices, and to not just do so "because no one's paying attention and they CAN"... Be well read more

I love the old diner ambience. It feels so homely and welcoming. My kids love reading the different sayings posted across the walls. It's a bit of a challenge trying to decide or choose from the menu with the wide array of choices. We're big fans of brunch and this is one of our favorite places. There's a bit of a wait at times, but they are pretty fast. Service is efficient. All the servers are very knowledgeable and helpful in recommending good dishes to try.
