A little too aggressive and unprofessional imo. I understand how commission works but some of the employees here are just tacky about it. They have a decent selection of everyday jewelry. Not the best quality if you're looking for diamonds but basic chains and pendants are ok. I was asking one rep for pricing but she got stopped as she was checking because another rep told her I was their customer. The service was very friendly and helpful. I could look at jewelry all day but there's no point when I almost never get any. If you buy anything from Kay your jewelry gets a life time warranty on it if you bring it in every 6 months for inspection and cleaning. Once I had a diamond in my wedding ring that cracked and they fixed it for free. But you just have to maintain it every 6 months for the warranty to be valid. The service needs to improve. I took my watch there to get sized and the guy complained the entire time he did it. He asked me how many links would I like him to remove. I responded by saying I'm not sure, how do you guys usually measure that kind of thing? He then said we can't measure, there's no way to measure that. So then I said okay well I guess you can measure my wrist and estimate or take them out one by one. He opted to remove them one by one and every time he had to go back to remove another link he huffed and puffed and made a snappy comment to me. How am I, the customer irritating you because I'm coming to a jewelry store for help with my jewelry??? I will not return here. The service sucks. We've had terrible experiences getting service at the Flagstaff location so we even make the drive down to see her even for the bi-annual inspections. I am never one to write bad reviews about companies considering I work customer service and have worked retail before, however the Kay Jewelers at Chandler Mall needs to be called out for their lack of common sense and customer service. My boyfriend purchased a necklace from Kay about 3 years ago. He gave it to me for my birthday and it was a silver chain with my birthstone as the pendant. I wore the necklace every day and felt bare without it. One day my dog got overly excited and ripped my necklace off my neck causing the chain to break in half. Took it to Kay and they spent 15 minutes trying to find my boyfriends information and asking me numerous times if he purchased at that location (he did) to finally just tell them I will purchase a new chain if they couldn't find the information. The sales person was showing me chains $200+ and said my exact replacement chain would be $500+. After spending another 15 minutes doing this I told her I wasn't looking to spend that kind of money considering the entire necklace itself I knew wasn't worth $500. She conveniently turned around and told me if I bought a box set which had my chain with a different pendant on it and a pair of earrings for $24.95 I could keep everything in the box and just use the chain for replacement. Felt like that should've been discussed first but gave her the benefit of the doubt, purchased the box and took a warranty out on that chain in case this happened again. Fast forward to March 2020 my dog did the same thing again, took it to the same Kay and the employee told me he would have to get it sent out and I was promised to have it back by April 1st. With COVID-19 and the riots, the mall has either been shut down or closing early, so last week I went to chandler mall on my day off assuming my necklace would be there and was told by the same employee that took my necklace in March that it was never sent out and that he "didn't work at that location and was just helping out". Assured me that he would send the necklace out the following day (Tuesday) and I should expect it back within 10 days. Call on Tuesday to ensure it was sent out and was told by a different worker that they don't do shipments on Tuesdays and it would be sent out on Wednesday and I personally would receive a call after. Never received a call on Wednesday but on Thursday the store manager called me telling me "my necklace I sent out in March was in and they deemed it unrepairable so what would I like to do" I almost lost it considering I had to know explain everything all over again to her. Long story short she told me they have the same chain in stock (which the employee I talked to a week before told me they don't have any chains at all in stock) and I could pick up my necklace any time I wanted to. She seemed a little confused about what pendant belonged on the necklace and asked me if I personally still had the pendant which I gave to the employee when I gave the chain so I was very worried they lost it, but all in all she was the most helpful and seemed like she actually knew what she was doing. I was without my necklace for 4 months, was pushed to purchase a $500 replacement chain, swindled by some guy who has no idea what he is doing, and lied to too many times to ever want to buy something at Kay Jewelers again. read more

I refuse to go anywhere near this shop. They are the most pushy sales people I have ever encountered. I used a Kay in Idaho for my first marriage and was happy, but this place is terrible. I went in to just look around because I saw some cool Star Wars jewelry and wanted to check it out. One guy asked if I needed help and I said I was just looking. He had the gal to say "No man comes into a jewelry store to just look." I must be the one weirdo it seems. He proceeded to ask me what my price range was, completely ignoring what I just said. I said again, I was just looking. He then asked "Who's the girl?". I got fed up and just walked out. So maybe it was just him and I was just having bad luck. I came in a month later, different employee, almost exact same experience. I won't be going to a Kay anytime soon or ever, shoot I probably won't go inside a shop if all employees act this way. My husband and I did some jewelry shopping today in multiple shops throughout the mall to get an idea of a replacement wedding ring set ( mine was stolen a few years back) and thought we would check out Kay's because we've had such good experiences with them in the past. Anyways, one of the sales people was pretty full of himself and his selling abilities. Which is fine until you make a customer try to feel bad about shopping around. Then he tried to get me to pick between two rings that I was interested in by saying, "Gun to your head, which one would you choose?"....seriously? Those word choices are awful. He spent a total of 5 minutes with us before passing us off to the manager because he said, "She might be able to help you better than I can." Can't say I'll be shopping here again. read more

We ran into a problem buying a necklace. We had a credit card with $1,000 credit limit and trying to get a $130 necklace, we were told that our account was closed!! We used this card a few months ago and then paid it off, I have no idea why they would have done that. The woman here was very helpful and patient with us. Even after the bank told us we had to reapply, she made some calls to figure out what was going on so we didn't take a hit to our credit by reapplying. They kept retrying and retrying but we ended up reapplying anyways and got denied even though we already had an account. I don't know what it is with Kay's banking but I'm gonna need them to get it together. 3 stars for the woman being super patient and trying everything in her power to help us. No stars for Kay's banking issue. read more

A 16 yr old young man buys with his own earned money, his girl friend an open heart ring for Christmas 2012. Within 2 weeks of wearing it one of the 2 stones comes out. The ring and the stone are taken to Kay Jewelers at Chandler Mall. they want to charge him $30-$40 to fix their workmanship. That is almost 44% of the original cost. None of the warranty paperwork that came with the ring offers free repairs regardless of the length of time owned. Where is the work ethic and customer service anymore. Any future purchases for this extensive family will no longer come from any of the Kay Jewelers. read more

I recently purchased a bracelet with charms from this store. I needed to return it two days later. Upon arrival, everyone was busy, if they weren't they became busy. Finally a young man came to help. I told him to return it. He informed me he can't, not enough money in the store!! He called the manager, Greg Oakes, Greg told me he couldn't. He said he had more than enough in his pocket for the return, but I needed to come back later. The store tills have 100$ a piece in them, but he would not deplete them for my return. It is very difficult to understand how a large diamond corporation has handled replacing a ring in which they damaged so poorly. I should have been notified that a loose diamond repair comes with a time frame of over 12+ weeks prior to releasing my wedding ring so quickly. . I have not had my ring since June. If I could give this location zero stars I would. When my fiancé and I were looking at rings the sales consultant kept pressuring us into choosing a bigger and much more expensive ring than what I had originally picked out. It was very uncomfortable, we kept telling him no that we do not want the bigger ring but he kept trying to change our minds. When he realized he wasn't going to convince us, he then tried pressuring us into getting the matching wedding band which we said no to as well. We finally got to the point where we purchased the engagement ring that I picked out and they said it would take 3 months to get it in and they would call us when it was ready but said it would definitely be there by July 4th. July 4th rolls around and my fiancé calls Kay because we hadn't heard from them, and they said the ring has been done for over a month. They did not call us to inform us. I visited this location for a ring, I was helped by Krystal, very welcoming at the initial visits. I placed an order for a ring, which she said will be available and will inform me on that. I heard nothing, i happened to visit the mall and i get to know from another rep that she sees an email saying a delay in delivery(i was never INFORMED), i left a msg and requested to get back on the status as i needed my order. I didn't hear from her, more so when i visited again, she left to their cabin as she saw me, didn't come out to help or talk when other rep asked her. Also, talked to the manager and she requested me to not be loud for other customers will listen to it!!! I was trying to find a brooch/lapel pin and was having a VERY hard time. My 90 year old father wanted to give a pin to my 89 year old mother for their 50th Wedding Anniversary-so it was important to me to help my father out as he no longer is able to shop on his own. I was unable to find anything that was appropriate in ANY jewelry store- I couldn't find many pins and most were too big and bold-nothing that really was a "good fit". I spoke with Gregory S. Oakes, the Assistant Manager, and asked him what he had in stock that may work for my father. Mr. Oakes 100% understood my dilemma. But there was NOTHING that he could sell me- nothing was appropriate. However this is where he exemplified OUTSTANDING SERVICE- he said he had a drawer full of pins from a family member who was no longer wearing them and he said to come back in a day because he was going to go through the pins and select the 2 nicest ones and GIVE THEM TO ME. Yes, give them to me. He said that since KAY Jewelers didn't have what I wanted, and he didn't want my father to be disappointed, he was happy to help me. This is truly service "above and beyond" what I expected. I have told MANY people about Mr. Oakes and his generous gesture and I will certainly support KAY Jewelers in the future. I went in with my fiance a few weeks ago to look at men's wedding bands with his brother and sister in law towards the evening. We were greeted by an associate who was one of the most unprofessional saleswomen I have ever met. We both are fairly young but I felt belittled by her and the tone of voice she used. She seemed annoyed by our lack of enthusiasm in a ring she picked to look at and was downright rude when I told her I wasn't opening up an account that night because I didn't know if I was even going to get his ring there. She blew us off and made a comment "You're killing me!" when i said no. We were very polite to her, my fiancee specifically empathizing, being in retail too, but her attitude was a turn off. I left with a mind made up never to shop there again. A few weeks later my sister bought a ring there and had the same interaction with that associate. She didn't even know of my experience but explained to me that the customer service she was disappointed in and there was a lack of respect, professionalism, and she was very pushy. She belittled her thinking she wasn't even 18, when she's 22, and made the comment again "you're killing me smalls" when she didn't want to open up a credit card account. She never has gotten offended by a salesperson but told me she left feeling offended and not wanting to go back. I feel bad that this branch of Kays is suffering because of an employee. Though I know it was one person, I don't want to ever go back or shop there and chose another ring through another store with much better customer service! read more
