Walked in and saw there were many selections to choose from. Rings, earrings, watches, you name it, you'll find it. We didn't get greeted right away, and the associates barely smiled. Although the associate who helped us was helpful once we decided to make a purchase. However, the customer service overall was disappointing--especially after placing my order to have the ring ordered, resized and then shipped to my home. They told me the ordering & resizing would take two weeks and that once shipped, it would arrive in two days. Instead, it took about a month from ordering to receiving my order. What made it more frustrating was having to call in myself for updates because the status emails were inaccurate. The only call I received was when they informed me that my ring has finally shipped to my address. They, however, didn't provide a tracking number, etc. I had to call in to get it when my ring didn't arrive after "2 days." They also said the package would be sent via certified mail, but it arrived through regular mail. On top of that, it didn't come in two days--it arrived after four. Popped into Kay Jewelers ala moana location on the day of Mother's Day (prior to me getting there I already was looking online on their website too see what is available) so I had my GAME PLANNED on lock . On what I was looking for. So when I first walked into the store I was greeted by some staff people (which I thought was A thumbs up on their part). So I was looking thru out the store for that particular jewelry piece I seen online. I kept looking and looking and couldn't find it (in my head I'm like hope they ain't sold out) so a staff member notice I needed some help so I showed him a image of what I was looking for and he located the item for me in one of the jewelry show cases. (BIG HELP) so I was happy about that. He also showed me other jewelry pieces as well. So once I knew they had the jewelry piece I was looking for I just double checked the item make sure it was the right one etc. Big shout out to Kay jewelry staff member "GUSS" For helping me while I was in the store and helping me find that Mother's Day jewelry piece. GUSS is a good staff member that helped me out and appreciate it so much (it made me feel very good being a customer, knowing some stores when u walk in etc they don't even greet or acknowledge you) but here at Kay jewelry store their nice. We came in the resize my moissanite engagement ring and they told us that they would be able to (well aware that it was moissanite and not a natural or lab-grown diamond). We were told it would take about 2 weeks and we would be informed when it was ready. Three weeks later, we still hadn't heard anything so we went back to the store to check in with them. They had my ring and gave it to me to try on and make sure the "new" size fits, but it was the same exact size it was before. Frankly, I'm surprised at all these good reviews. I've never been treated as rudely as I was at this store today. We went in for infant hoop earrings- small, inexpensive, easy-to-find item. Walked in, no one greeted us. That's fine. A saleswoman was helping someone so we waited, while Justin stood in the back glaring at us. We waited behind the people looking. No one was going to help us after a couple minutes so as the saleswoman left the infant jewelry case and went to close it (still no one acknowledged us) I politely smiled at her and asked "may I just look to see if the item is here?" she stormed off with her customer, ok whatever, she's busy and can't spare a smile I get it. They were done and moved to a register and I think that's when Justin stormed over. I did try to look at the case so we could walk out if the item was not in stock because I didn't want to waste these peoples' time lol, it was obvious they did not want us in there. The hoops were there so I nicely asked Justin if we could get them. He was livid. I don't know why...but he basically snapped "what do you want, these are for babies" and I was pretty taken aback...and wishing I could get these somewhere else. Justin then proceeded to call me rude for interrupting them (uhm, I didn't, as no one even acknowledged me and I was standing there waiting awkwardly) He AGAIN called me rude, then was so abrupt and mean I was sort of in shock. When I explained I was just looking for the item, and could he please sell it to me (yes, I had to ask him to sell me a pair of earrings) he huffed and puffed and scowled like nothing I'd really seen. So now I'm thinking- wait, what? WHY is he behaving this way? I was kind of shook because he was so randomly rude to us. So I finally told him "honestly, you're calling me rude and that's pretty rude" and he started berating me again- "no you're rude! You interrupted her!" which, again was strange and not accurate. Like, why are you so mad we're alive? Trust me, I wanted to leave as much as he wanted me out of there, but we needed these stupid hoops lmao. Then in a very condescending tone asked "if we were visitors" and when I said no, he snapped that he was from Hawaii. Uhm, cool, so are we. It was the weirdest exchange. I tried to avoid eye contact or conversation but we needed the hoops so I didn't walk out. I can't really describe how unhappy he made us and how unusual the whole vibe was in that store. Was there something about us they discriminate against? Was it the small purchase? I mean, we're pretty quiet, normal looking, and we're avid shoppers so I'm not sure why Kay Jewelers was so atrocious to us today. People weren't kidding when they said being a woman is expensive! Luckily with Kay Jewelers, you can attempt to open a credit card line (LONG LIVE LOVE) with Comenity and do their 12-month special financing. This means that you can pay off the entire amount in 12 months! The thing is, you could only qualify for this if you spend $500 minimum purchase and 20% down payment required, and that down payment cannot be placed on the LONG LIVE LOVE credit card. I was reading the brochure/pamphlet after I came home with my purchases and remembered that I never gave them my own debit/credit card to place the down payment. I gave the store a call, and a gentleman that picked up was very kind and helpful in answering my questions. During the time I opened up a credit card account with Kay Jewelers, there was a promo going on where the down payment was waived, meaning, I didn't need to put a down payment at all. I wish the person who assisted me in the store had told me that, but it's a good thing that I called to clarify. I don't want to mess up my credit score yknow lol. Communication is pretty sparse here... basically you'll need to ask them all the questions that you can think of in order for them to help you. I felt like treating myself that day so I bought 3 pairs of earrings and a matching rose-gold heart necklace to go with it. It was pretty much an impulse buy because the amount ended up being over $1,500!!! If I didn't add on the extended service plan (ESP) for EACH of the jewelry I purchased, I'm sure the price would've been a lot less. The ESP is a repair plan (NOT an insurance policy) that lasts for a lifetime. The ESP lifetime purchase amount charged is based on the cost of each jewelry pieces (for example, if my earrings cost $249.99, I have to pay an extra $79.99 for ESP.) You can find more information on their website or give them a call. Since I paid A LOT for this, you can expect me to take advantage of the ESP coverage I purchased. All you need to do is take in your jewelry with the sales slip to the store to have it either repaired or cleaned. This also applies if you lost the backing of your earrings, diamond pieces fell off, etc. So... make sure you keep all the receipts and sales slip in a safe place if you plan to add on the ESP! Majority of the jewelry I own is from Kay's and I like it because it hasn't rusted for years, and I don't get rashes from it after wearing it for a whole day. The salesperson packages each jewelry in a velvet black box and then into a cardboard box, making it look super giftable & sophisticated! As of right now, I'm paying about $150 a month for 12 months to pay off the $1,500+ that I spent in one day (hehe.) Just a tip if this is your first time signing up & getting approved for a credit card - once you get approved, you have to wait until the credit card comes in the mail. Once you receive it, you can register online through Kay's website and input the credit card number and other information to manage your account. From there, that's how you can pay off whatever amount you need, as long as it's above the minimum payment. He'd rather me have something I'm 100% happy with. It was 12/09/16 the day I walked in with hubby, just to look, and ended up picking out my first engagement ring. The one who helped us (who is no longer there anymore) was April. She made us so comfortable and made sure my husband was also comfortable with everything that was going on as well. I remember crying while going through the process because she worked with us thoroughly to make sure it's what I wanted and fit my personality. I feel she really connected with me as a customer to find and fit my needs, and also make my husband feel comfortable as well. I tried to go over to the pearl ridge location (because it's closer to where we live) but I get it, it's the holidays and there were plenty of people looking. I end up leaving bummed because what girl wants her ring to be dusty for the holidays. Luckily my family and I stop at ala Moana same day and I remember that location. So peeling away from my family I go and see if it's possible to get it cleaned. The lady who saw me was Cherie R. She gladly took to me and got my ring cleaned up. Now it was just the warmth I felt. That aloha kind of spirit that just made me automatically like her. The feeling of making you not feel out of place. I really appreciated that from her. I was also greeted with the same attitude from another lady (who I am so sorry that I forgot your name already) but it was the same energy and it felt good! Now getting girls together around rings is DANGEROUS, because after the ring cleaning, we go sit down and take a long look at a few rings. In the end I needed my husband over there because I can't do anything myself. So I make an appointment with Cherie to come back following Sunday. Come Sunday!! Now, there were things we were looking for that me and husband both wanted to be comfortable with. Of course there were plenty of options I could say yes to, but at the same time I want my husband to be comfortable as well with the price purchase, payment ect.) We have all heard the term/phrase,"happy wife happy life", but I appreciate the fact that they were willing to work with my husband as well and make sure he was fully on board and comfortable with the whole thing. (even though later he jokingly said it was 3 against 1 ) The service really showed from both Cherie and the store manager as we were there for a good 3 hours. It finally came down to taking something home that night and later on getting a little of an addition to it later on. Which was fine. The store manager was not letting me go home empty handed after all the time and work specially given to us. It really was just so awesome. It has been just a really great experience at this store for us. We will continue to come back in the future for more purchases later. Was finally given a refund and had my ring shipped back to me. Was told that my would arrive by Friday..called on Saturday to see if it arrived and they didn't know what was going on and tried to say oh it won't be due in until next week. We called the corporate number to find out where it is and they tracked it. They say it is shipped and will arrive Tuesday. Oh, and when they refunded my money there wasn't enough cash at the store, so I agreed to wait for a check to come in the mail. The check came already and the ring didn't. I will never shop at Kay ever again. Please don't take your jewelry here. Find a better jeweler. Every other store brand i spoke with agreed this has been too long and very unprofessional. On June 14th my husband bought me a really gorgeous ring. The ring didn't fit my finger so we were told the ring was getting sent out to get resized. We were told that the ring wouldn't be ready until 2 weeks. Fast foward 2 weeks later my husband calls to check the status of my ring one of the retail merchant (Don't know her name) told my husband my ring will be ready for pick up on July 1st. I came to pick my ring up & retail merchant didn't check my ID to verify who I was explains why she tried to give me another females ring. I don't live near ala Moana so the commute here was very inconvenient just to find out my ring isn't ready & it will be shipped out on the 1st not ready by the 1st. What if I sent someone else to pick up my ring? & the merchant gave the incorrect ring? What then happens? I am beyond furious. I do not recommend this Kay Jewelers to anyone. He shared with me the experiences of spending hours in this newly opened Kays Jewelry in Ala Moana, and the help that he received from Sunny and April. He learned a lot from this experience, and he definitely chose the right and perfect ring. The day before my birthday, he picked up the rings, and because they werent able to size it in time, they put stoppers in it so that I could wear it afterwards. But sadly, I had to part with it for 2 weeks to get it sized. I met April to get my ring sized, & she is just the sweetest. April is an amazing store manager! She has such awesome energy! She helped us find the perfect ring, and was so patient with us. She didn't pressure us to get a more expensive ring. Just the right one for us. When we went to pick up the ring, we didn't wanna leave without getting another one to match. The selection is huge! And the prices are very affordable. There are some that a few $$$ to the more pricier larger karat items. The mens selection was a nice size too. Kays isn't just a store for women, but for everyone. They have different metal rings from gold and silver to rose gold and tugsten. They have necklaces, bracelets, and a huge selection of Citizen and Movado watches. I decided to begin my wedding ring journey last week & decided to checkout the brand name jewelers in Ala Moana to start. My friend & I checked out Ben Bridge, Tiffany's, then Kay's. I was pleasantly surprised at the friendly customer service from Ashley M. (not the mgr but regular sales lady) and Joe. Ashley was my main sales girl, but Joe was on the side making lots of small talk with us, and we loved his jokes! I actually found a really great diamond ring that happened to be on sale at 25% off. Ashley says this ring has "been the talk of the store" for its quality & price. Joe showed me the diamond under a microscope where it displayed the near flawlessness of the rock and my impulse kicked in. I thought I found The One! As I was debating and thinking to arrange my bf to take a look at the item next coming weekend, Ashley suggested I put the item on a refundable $100 deposit so that I can have the ring off the shelves for up to 6 months. I immediately got my credit card out and we completed the deposit transaction as I walked out of the store excited that now all my bf has to do is secretly pick it up by June! As I got home and my initial joy wore off, I realized that Ashley mentioned that the 25% sale is only until next weekend but I have the ring on hold until 6/1. I called Kay's immediately and verified that the ring will be held for me until 6/1 but the sale price is not locked in until 6/1. Ok, that's my mistake so I'm glad I called....but Ashley should have clarified that in the store as I put the deposit down as what if I hadn't called to check? I would be putting a hold on a ring until June that is way out of my budget! The ring on sale is $13,000 but after the sale it goes back up to retail $18,000. Fast forward 2 days after my deposit, Ashley left a VM on my phone nervously indicating an "urgent" matter. They called me three times but I was too busy to respond that day. When I called back a day after, Ashley explained that there's another client who came looking for the ring and is interested in purchasing it RIGHT NOW. Ashley wanted to know how committed I am to the ring so I told her that it's ultimately my bf's decision to get me the ring and he's not able to come until the weekend. Isn't that what the deposit was for so that I can secure the ring off the shelves until June so that I don't have to worry about another potential buyer swooping it away from me until I make a final decision?? Ashley apologized and told me that because the item is highly sought after, the deposit is only good for 24hrs and that her managers have urged her to release the ring from hold at noon. This is 10:30am that I'm speaking with her. I told Ashley that that's not what was promised so they should honor my deposit. Why would anyone put a deposit on a ring if it only lasts for 24hrs?! Ashley says she tried to negotiate it with her higher ups to see if they can still honor the hold on the item at least until this weekend but she says it was to no avail. How new is Ashley as a sales rep at Kay's and if she had made an error in telling me about the deposit duration, why didn't Joe (who was listening to our whole convo and assisting from the side!) correct her at the time of sale? And Suppose Ashley is a new sales rep...how can you mistake 24hrs vs. 6 months for a deposit? Whether this "urgency" is true or made up in order to rush me to buy the ring, I don't like the feeling I got from this company. If this is how they treat their customers before I even buy anything from them, what can I expect in the long run as a purchaser?! The thought of trusting this company as a lifetime jeweler for my ring made me feel sick to my stomach. Overall terrible experience. Purchased a bridal set last November. Day of purchase, was informed that I qualified for a 12 month interest promo. Was going to make a payment of $5000 but was told to come back the following day because system was not accepting my payment and that they are having having some issues with their system because of a merger so they are in a transitional period. Come back next day, make payment of $5000 no problem. Making monthly payments every month from the following month up till April. April I'm a day late with payment so I receive a phone call from Genesis card services letting me know that I am late. No problem, I tell the caller that I will be in the next day. She then goes on to tell me that to date I have paid "X" amount of interest on the purchase. I explain that that can't be because I am on a 12 month interest free promo. She says, no. To qualify I needed to pay 20 percent on the date of purchase. Explain to her what had happened and she says that what shows on the account. Go to the Ala Moana store, where I explain the situation to the store manager. Store manager is apologetic and contacts his district manager. I am informed to stop making monthly payments until the matter is cleared up. Lots of store visits, calls from Genesis, lots of calls with store manager since then. Just last week, my last visit to the store, spend 30 min. on the phone with genesis card services verifying all my info, date of purchase, blah blah blah. Am told I will be receiving an email and a call after he speaks with corporate about a resolution. Mind you, since April I receive 8-10 phone calls from genesis collection dept. to let me know my account is past due. Explain to each caller the situation and they keep telling me they will put a notation on the account, apparently not. Will be going to the store to tidy to pay off balance and will never purchase from Kay's Jewelers and their affiliates. (Zales , Jared's, etc. They all are handled by Genesis Card Services) *****UPDATE******* With everything said above, I feel that it's only right to give an update. I need to give a big mahalos to Sharla (asst. store manager & Nicki District manager). I won't go into detail as far as how they handled my situation, but I will say they went above and beyond to make sure that I was taken care of to the point where I may consider doing business with them again. read more

I went down in January 2018 to purchase another ring and they had to special order it. No one followed up with me and the ring sat in their shop for an entire month until I called up. Then they stated all I had to do is come down to pick it up and I asked them how would I know it is there unless someone from Kay Jewelers calls????? My experience with this store started about a month ago to checkout some tennis bracelets for a retirement gift. After some time I returned to the store last week to buy the one I liked best. What I really appreciated about this location was that when I first went in there was no pressure or insistence to buy something on the spot or make you feel bad for wasting their time. It was very pressure free and guilt free shopping. When I returned to buy the item the salesman was very kind and helpful. Even though I came in less than an hour to closing he didn't rush me and also stopped to show me other items I might like as well. Went in to do our 6 month inspection and cleaning. Lorinna (not sure if I'm spelling that right) was so nice and helpful. We had our children with us 8yo, 4yo, and 1 month old. Without hesitation she offered me to use one of their areas so I could nurse the baby comfortably while they inspected and cleaned out jewelry. Customer service is the worst. The staff didn't greet me when I walked in(my second time in this establishment). Seems like the treatment was totally different when others walked in. I kept getting "no" instead of recommendations. Will never shop here read more

My husband bought my engagement ring from Costco Iwilei. We were engaged for 14 months and I had nothing but problems with my ring almost the entire time. My center stone got loose in its prongs 4 times while we were engaged! It was so frustrating! Costco told me that they could fix it for free but it would take them 8-10 weeks, or I could take it to a local jeweler to have it fixed. I went to Zale's at Windward mall twice, Big Island jewelers (we live on the BI) and ended up sending it in to the Costco repair center too all for "prong tightening". Each time I got the ring back, the center stone would be loose again with in about 1 month. Again, so frustrating! One day, while at Kay's Ala Moana getting my husbands wedding band (my wedding band is also from Kay's) we mentioned to Joe (our sales person) the trouble we've been having with my engagement ring. He asked to take a look at it and with in seconds he knew what was wrong with it. He told me that the prongs were not long enough, therefore not holding the center stone properly which was why it wasn't staying put. Now why couldn't Zale's, Big Island Jewelers or Costco figure that out? I had spent all that money on "prong tightening" for nothing. I ended up sending it in to Kay's repair man, who was able to completely replace my prongs in only 2 weeks. Costco took 8 weeks just to tighten the prongs, which didn't even fix the problem. The prongs are noticeably so much stronger and I haven't had any problems with it coming loose! I specifically want to recommend Joe, the most amazing salesperson at Kay's. He was soooo kind to us. He was honest, never pushy, explained the anatomy of a diamond and how its supposed to be properly set. He had me looking at my ring under a microscope. He was so extremely thorough with us. It was so nice to experience this type of customer service after my baby (my ring) had been through so much. He took pictures of my ring and personally texted them and talked to the repair man in San Diego and called me to tell me what they had talked about and what he suggested doing for my ring. Where as the sales people I worked with at Zale's and Costco never did these things for me cause they had no idea what they were doing and just took my ring from me and said they were shipping it off. He just went above and beyond and I will ONLY go to him for future purchases and highly recommend everyone else see him too! read more

On Valentines Day, with all the love in the air, my bf took me to Kays to scope out some rings. He wants to get an idea of what I like/want. We were helped by Mary. She was extremely helpful and patient with us. We stayed for about an hour and I tried on a bunch of rings. We were able to figure out, with her help, that I prefer a marquise setting in something that looks a bit vintage. She showed us a range of options that completely changed my mind on the store. I was pretty insistent that I wanted an estate piece but after seeing what they have to offer and hearing all the services that come with purchasing from Kays, I had to change my mind. read more

This is a the nicest Kay on the island in my opinion. I had my first encounter while she was training at another store and remembered her. She is super nice and sweet. I decided to go back in today and got this pleasure to work with her assistant manager Dylan. He is awesome, really took his time and helped me find the perfect ring to upgrade to. My Fiance and I travelled some ways just to get some stuff for our wedding. We've lived in Hawaii before but have not ever gone shopping for Jewelry. We began our search at Kays, and a few days later returned to purchase a new bridal set. We should have never searched anywhere else. Service was amazing and we felt right at home.
