This place is so good! Their cheese katsu was huge and the cheese pull was insane on these. The bibim soba was also super cold and refreshing. Just beware - it's a bit spicy! The snow katsu was my favorite. The sweet onion was a perfect pairing to put on top of the katsu. I can also tell they make the katsu fresh in-house because they were perfectly cooked and crispy! I highly recommend this place.
The katsu is always amazing when i come in, the flavor of the batter, the juiciness of the cheese katsu and the katsu sauces to pair keep me coming back. I tried a new Katsu this time : The Chili Teppan Katsu and it was huge! The veggies underneath are delicious, charred, and i wish they'd sell it on their own. I wasn't a fan of the bonito flakes and it's definitely a dish you eat in the moment it does not reheat well unlike the cómo katsu entree. I got a side of snow onions and a said of curry to try and both very delicious. The service is always fast, although this time our waitress was a bit dismissive. The restaurant is on the smaller end but feels very airy. Whenever I'm in the mood for a crispy, crunchy, katsu this is the place i crave.
This restaurant specializes in one thing only - katsu! I got their combo plate that included chicken katsu, pork katsu and a cheese katsu. The katsu was nice and crisp on the outside but still juicy on the inside. They serve the meal with some rice and cabbage and different dips. My personal favorite was the cheese katsu! The service here is also very friendly and would definitely come back when I'm craving katsu.
Speedy service! I tried the chicken katsu donburi. I've never had donburi before so nothing to compare to, but this was delicious. I enjoyed the sauces that came on the side too! We also tried the potato shrimp. My only complaint was that I felt a bit rushed. We came in around 8:15 and they closed at 9. I kept hearing the server tell new guests coming in that the kitchen was closing at 8:30 and seemed to be pushing people away. If the kitchen closes at 8:30, I'd think they should just revise their hours to close at 8:30 instead of 9. All in all, we would return to try different menu options!
Delicious katsu spot to dine at in Centreville! My friend and I stopped by for a weekend lunch and ordered the cheese and snow katsu with curry. While waiting, we enjoyed a fresh house salad and a comforting bowl of miso soup. The katsu arrived quickly with fresh and crispy breading that paired well with the curry and sauces -- an appetizing spread! The ambience was casual and service was welcoming. Throughout our lunch, the Kazone team was kind and courteous to every guest. Parking was plentiful, however the restaurant filled up swiftly during lunch hour with limited seating, so keep peak dining hours in mind before arriving. Overall, we had such a pleasant experience here and would love to come back and try other dishes!
Good katsu place that'll curb your craving in a pinch. Plenty of parking (except not during the grand opening of Teso) but not many places to sit. It's a small restaurant (maybe about 8 small tables that seat 4 each). Had a chance to try their chicken katsu and fish katsu- I liked the fish more. Nothing mind blowing, but good. The exterior for both- crispy crunchy; a little too thick in some parts. Fish was huge, flakey and delicious. Chicken had a weirdly smooth texture almost like extra ground chicken? it tasted fine. I love that they package all three dipping sauces for take out. Traditional don katsu sauce, wasabi, and spicy katsu sauce. Can't go wrong with sweet savory katsu sauce but wasabi was also delicious. I loved tartar sauce with fish. I think I like Tomo's fish by a hair, but they're comparable. I like Tomo's batter better. Service was fast and friendly.
First off, we were next in line for a party of 2, however, the waiter sat 2-3 parties that were 3-4 people in front of us because they "had to prioritize the larger groups". Mind you, it's nearly 15 degrees outside... so we were all huddled up by the door waiting for the table. - the panko was crispy - curry was light and mildly sweet with hints of savoriness from ground meat - mozzarella was delicious and the curry complemented it well - big portions of fish for fish katsu and loved that it came with katsu - waiter was very nice and food came out very fast even though we came 30 mins before closing - small but plenty of seating! and quick cleaning
TLDR: Solid offerings but could make small improvements. Definitely worth a visit. The food here was mostly good. My wife and I started with the potato shrimp. They were nice and crispy and had a good sauce to dip them in. My wife ordered the spicy pork dish and I ordered the bulgogi donbari bowl. We both also added curry. The bulgogi definitely could have benefitted from some spice as it felt a little flat flavor wise. I appreciate that they did a bulgogi and went different than other katsu offerings that usually are on menus. The spicy pork dish definitely had the most flavor. But I felt like the thinly shaved stuff on the top of it and the amount of cheese might have been just a tad too much. I feel like cutting back on the amount of cheese and stuff on top would have given it a better balance. The curry had a really good flavor and was similar to our favorite curry at Kare Bar. The restaurant is not huge but there's a fair amount of seating available. The staff were super kind and knowledgeable. They helped explain any questions about the menu. There's plenty of parking in the lot they're located in.
It's not like crazy good or anything. But it is the best one I had so far in Virginia. Everything I ordered was good. Taste-wise and plating-wise. Wish this place is a bit closer but it makes more sense that it's in Centreville where a lot of Asians lives. I definitely recommend people who live closer here to try. Price is perfect for the food. I would go again if I'm nearby.
First time at Kazone and I loved it! We came during lunch and it was quite busy, but the service was quick and we didn't have to wait long for a table. Everything we ordered was delicious and the vibe inside was great for a nice, relaxing meal. Our server was very friendly and attentive, which made the experience even better. I'll definitely be coming back and can't wait to try more from the menu. Highly recommend!
Ordered the cheese katsu with a side of curry and a katsu sando. They were both cooked perfectly, with the meat of the katsu being both juicy and tender. The curry sauce was also a nice compliment to the katsu and I would highly recommend it as a side order. The service was good and attentive. The interior was nothing to write home about, however it was neat and clean. Would definitely come back again to try their other options!
I ordered the katsu combo and everything was delicious. The pork and chicken katsu were perfectly crispy, tender, and served hot. The hot sauce paired really well with both. This was my first time trying cheese katsu and it was amazing. The cheese was creamy and rich with a crispy outer shell. I also ordered the potato shrimp, which was crispy and tasted great with the dipping sauce. And the cheese corn is a must try. Hands down the best cheese corn I've had. The service was excellent. Our waitress was attentive, and the chef owner even came out to check on us. The food came out quickly, and the overall experience was great. The ambiance great. Small establishment but mighty food! I would definitely come back and highly recommend this place.

This place is small, lively, packed, and all the dishes were DELICIOUS! The tonkatsu I ordered was super crispy, tender, not overly seasoned because the dipping sauces were full of flavors: salty, sweet, and spicy. The miso soup was the BEST I ever had, it was salty, deely flavor with fermented bean and seaweed. The staffs were super friendly! A must try place! read more

The restaurant is located conveniently however the sign is small and the entrance is not very inviting. The interior is nice and clean. Went there for lunch and was greeted by server and possibly owner? Very friendly. I had the cheese katsu. Portion was nice but the food was lukewarm. I was surprised because there was no one else in the restaurant so I don't see how my food could've been lukewarm if it was freshly made. Taste was so so. Very little flavor for the katsu itself but there's a variety of sauces to choose from. Lunch menu selection is sparse but price is reasonable. read more

Breading is super nice. Crispy and airy. Meat is good but can be juicier. Katsu combo is great if you are hungry and not sure what to choose! Chicken is juicy and very peppery. It tasted really good but was my least favorite of the three. Rosu is super solid and juicier than the first few times I went. Highly recommend. I love the cheese katsu since you get basically a slightly drier (probably since it's cut) version of the rosu katsu but the cheese itself pairs so perfectly and somehow is not too heavy on the stomach. The restaurant is small and homey. It is quite pricey here but I think once in a while it is worth it! read more
This kitchen is seasoned with love. I can confidently say that Kazone serves the best katsu, a popular Japanese comfort food of breaded cutlets in the DMV area. Normally, I don't like to-go orders with fried food because it gets soggy in the container, but not this place! We ordered Rosu Katsu and Croquette and ate it after 15 minutes (driving back home). Katsu had a crispy and golden brown coating that is not too greasy, and a juicy and tender pork(loin) cutlet on the inside. It was SUPER crispy outside and the pork was perfectly cooked, not overcooked or undercooked. The service was also excellent; the owner was super friendly. The prices are reasonable, especially for the quality of the food. I can't wait to go back and try more dishes! :) read more
Yikes, Kazone - we really wanted to like you, but we just did not have a tasty experience! This katsu place is located in the Old Centreville Crossing plaza, and their menu offers various appetizers, katsu, noodle/rice dishes, curry rice, udon, and weekday lunch specials. We came here for a later lunch, and we started off with: +Croquette - made with potatoes, milk, butter, corn, caramelized onions, and imitation crabmeat; these came as 3 golf ball-sized, breaded & deep-fried; the inside was lukewarm, considering these were supposed to be made-to-order; we couldn't taste the corn nor the caramelized onions, as they just seemed to be a potato and imitation crab mixture; these were also extremely bland, and the mayo ad katsu sauce that were drizzled on them didn't help, either +Potato Shrimp - shrimp wrapped with stringed potatoes; came with 5 pieces with a side of tartar sauce, topped with spicy mayo; the shrimp could have tasted more fresh, and the potato wrapped bites could have been salted or seasoned, as these were also quite bland; not sure if they wanted one to get all the flavors from the sauce? For our entrees, we had: +the Curry Katsu - you can choose your protein, so we opted for chicken; this came with a shredded cabbage salad, dressed in a Thousand Island-like dressing, pickled radish, a spicy katsu sauce, a regular katsu sauce, and a small individual pitcher of curry +the Ebi Katsu - this came with a shredded cabbage salad, dressed in a Thousand Island-like dressing, pickled radish, tarter sauce, a regular katsu sauce, and a small individual pitcher of curry Unfortunately, the breading that they use was pretty inedible - it was just not tasty, and not sure if it's the type of panko used, the way that they prepared the batter, or the way that they fried it; maybe it was old oil, but neither of the chicken katsu nor the ebi katsu was tasty - they were not at all crispy but seemed soggy. The shrimp was also mushy and the texture was extremely off-putting. The little pitcher of curry tasted fine; it seemed like it had ground pork in it, which was not at all noted anywhere on the menu. The katsu sauces seemed to have a weird tang to them, almost tasting like they were infused with red wine or something; we just were not fans. The prices seemed pretty exorbitant, considering the low quality that you receive. We ended up tossing all the leftovers. Service was very friendly, and there were a good number of seats in this smaller-sized eatery. Not sure what the other rave reviewers are on, but this place ain't it - sorry, Kazone, but no dice! Wanted to find a lunch spot in the area that I haven't been to and I landed at Kazone. I love katsu so it was a great choice. The lunch special was such a great deal. You get a salad, soup, katsu and a bowl of noodles. They are not busy during the weekdays at lunch time. Plenty of parking in this shopping center. Pretty quick service here. read more
Reliable pick for katsu (pork or chicken) with a serious variety of preparations to choose from as well. No joke - there's way more than the usual 1-3 choices. Parking is no issue as well as seating for small or large groups as you can move the tables together. Kudos to the waiter for remembering so many people's orders from a large group. There is also a lunch special available only on weekdays if you want katsu + noodles at a good price (in today's market). Korean and Japanese dishes, so you can expect some Japanese food to be available here as well. read more

Kazone is a good place for Japanese comfort food. The menu is a little bit on the pricey side but it had a variety of options to select from. Kazone starts off with a small side salad and miso soup before the appetizers and entrees come out. We ordered the takoyaki and katsu combo (pork rosu katsu, cheese katsu, and chicken katsu) that came with a side of two dipping sauces. Each katsu was crispy on the outside and had a decent crunch with each bite. The cheese katsu was pretty heavy as expected and did not have that nice "cheese pull", it was oily and had a somewhat liquid consistency. The takoyaki was standard and a good appetizer. Overall, the meal was very simple and tasty. Would recommend trying out Kazone! read more

My boyfriend and I came to Centreville to get some groceries at H Mart and were looking for lunch options nearby. We stopped into Kazone after seeing some pictures of the katsu online, and we were completely blown away by the food and service. We got the rosu katsu and udon noodle soup - both were absolutely delicious. The servers were very attentive throughout the entire meal without being overbearing. The owner also occasionally stepped out of the kitchen to check on the customers. He personally stopped by our table to ask if there was anything we needed, which I really appreciated. The restaurant was clean, well-lit and exceeded our expectations in every way. read more
I would recommend this place to family and friends . For some reason I was craving a pork sandwich which I never tried before called : Rosu Katsu which is a Japanese dish that consists of a breaded, deep-fried pork(loin) cutlet. Serving with rice and shredded cabbage according to the menu. Once I sat down I got silver wear and the waiter asked me if I wanted hot tea which I said yes to. He brought out the hot tea and water then the soup and the salad which the soup for me was a no go & the salad was great but just needed more salad dressing for me. The hot tea was just plain which tasted like hot water to me . Anyways my sandwich came out which I didn't know what to expect it came out piping hot which was a good thing . We came here on a Saturday around noon and it was packed. We waited a bit to be seated and waited quite a long time for the food (I think they seemed a bit understaffed) that I started to get hangry but I was not disappointed when the food came out. I highly recommend their chicken katsu!! It was so juicy and perfectly crispy!! My mom really liked their Ebi Katsu as well. It is a bit pricey but I think it's worth it if you are really craving some good quality katsu. Also the place itself is a bit small so I would avoid going at peak lunch times or make sure to make a reservation if you're in a hurry. read more

After an hour of ice skating at Reston Town Center, my friends and I were very hungry and was very glad we stopped by Kazone for a delicious dinner. The owner of Kazone was very nice and the service was exceptional. She often checked in with us to make sure we had everything we needed. TAKOYAKI (6 PC.) - 8.99 These come PIPING HOT (you can't tell that it is since it's flaming on the inside protected by the shell and topped with a lot of the flakes and sauce) so definitely be careful. Don't be like me and stuff the whole thing in your mouth, haha. Overall, these were tasty, savory, and flavorful! Each one is pretty small and there's not many per order, but they made a great appetizer for my friends and me. I'd recommend if you're craving takoyaki, but it's pretty standard. CURRY KATSU - 18.99 This is their pork katsu with a side of curry (super chunky with lots of onions and other things mixed in), some rice, pickled radish, cabbage with spicy mayo sauce and some dipping sauces for the katsu. Each order also came with the classic ginger salad & miso soup, which were nice fillers while we eagerly waited for the real deal. The katsu was delicious. The pork was tender and juicy and the skin was so crispy. I ate so quickly because it really hit the spot. The pork katsu went well with the chunky curry. Yum. I'd highly recommend paying +2 for the curry if you like curry. A couple of my friends got the CHEESE KATSU (which is what Kazone is most well-known for). The presentation was phenomenal and the cheese katsu was good, but I personally wouldn't order the whole thing for myself. It's basically four mozzarella sticks so it can get pretty heavy. Definitely something I'd share with another person next time. No regrets getting just the cheese-less Katsu from my end. Kazone is a solid choice for dinner. My friends and I all ate silently for a few minutes, which tells you how hungry we were and how good the food was. I'll be back if I want katsu in Centreville. read more

Stumbled across this place on Yelp when we were looking to grab dinner while in Centreville. Looked pretty good so we placed an order online. We ordered the Mandu, Chicken Katsu, and a Kaz Sando. Took about 20 minutes and was ready right when we got there too. Staff was nice. Restaurant wasn't too packed, 2-3 tables full. The Mandu were of pretty good size and flavorful, sauce that came with had a nice kick to it. The Kaz Sando got eaten very quickly and was delicious. The pork loin was pretty big, the bread had a nice softness to it, and it was adequately sauced. The Katsu was good as well. Nice crispiness and was a good amount of meat in general. Overall solid meal. I would like to probably eat there to get everything fresh and also try some of the other stuff on their menu. read more

We visited Kazone recently during a restaurant hopping trip with friends. We tried the corn cheese and it was fantastic! Came here with some friends and ordered the cheese katsu! The food looked like the photos but for me the food wasn't very filling. A few friends ordered the rosu katsu and mine was like half the amount as theirs. They all took home leftovers where I ate it all and wasn't full full. The service was not bad but we had to wait a little for our check. There is plenty of parking :) read more
Took my family here for lunch and this place is awesome! The food is so good and I love the options they have for their menu. I really enjoyed the ramen combo. I have been craving katsu and this place delivered. The service was phenomenal and the food was even better. The tea was so warm and this space reminds me of an actual restaurant in Korea. It's homey. Their sauce tray just seems too aesthetic because it does not hold much sauce. Of course you can ask for more but like yeah it looks fancy but not as effective as it can be. That doesn't take away from anything else though! Definitely will come back if I am in town. read more
So happy to learn that there is a new katsu place closer to my area! Decided to come here for lunch for ordered their lunch combo which comes with katsu and ramen or udon. I decided to go with the cheese katsu + udon which also came with miso soup and salad. This was my first time ordering cheese katsu and i love how cheesy it is. The katsu wasnt dry and had a nice crisp to it. My group and I decided to share the potato shrimp which was delicious! At the end of the meal, we got some hi chew which was a sweet end to our delicious meal. For the cost of the lunch combo it is definitely worth it plus the service is amazing! In love with this place... sad it's so far from me! Wanted to try out a place with Katsu and discovered this place. So happy to have found this place! They serve hot or cold tea, as well as complimentary salad and miso soup which was nice. I ordered some takoyaki to start off and it was good! Nice crunch and sauces with the dish. I had the cheese katsu for the main dish, which came with a bowl of rice topped with seaweed, a side of some sort of vegetable, and sauces. The cheese katsu was DELICIOUS. Oozy flavour with the fried part - I was in love with it. It's like a mozzarella stick but better. It goes with the sauces too and pairing it with the rice to the point where I finished my rice which doesn't typically happen. The portion does look small at first, but it filled me up a good amount actually. Overall, it was a great place I want to go to again. Staff are attentive, food is good, and K-Pop was playing which I liked. The place is a little small though, so I was fortunate to eat around 2 pm when it was only half full. We were craving udon and katsu and was thinking about going to Miso. So glad I decided to browse Yelp and found this restaurant instead! It was a lot closer to where we were so we decided to give it a try. I got the Kazdon (udon) which has a unique soybean broth that I really liked. It was different than other udons I've had in the area which has dashi broth (i think). It also came with a generous amount of topping such as mushrooms, fishcakes, and a shrimp. If you share a picture of the food and tag Kazone, you get an extra shrimp tempura or soda! My bf got the crabmeat/potato croquettes which was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. They are pretty filling as an FYI. He also got the Ebi katsu which came with rice, curry, and salad. I think the shrimp was tiger shrimp because of the texture - tasted high quality! It was so crispy and great with the curry. I think the curry also has ground beef in it, instead of the usual carrot and potatoes. I would love having the lunch combo as an all day item so that I can get both katsu and a noodle dish. Service was 5 stars. Our service offered us extra rice (complimentary) when she saw that we have a lot of curry left. She also gave us extra bowls so it's easier to share. This might be my go to katsu place from now on! We came here during the lunch hours and tried the combo. I got the rosu katsu with ramen and my friends got the cheese katsu with udon! We also got the potato shrimp to try and that was super good as well! I love how their cuts of meat is not too thin! Its a great bite with the juicy pork and crispy outer crust! I also enjoyed their ramen... like a lot.... normally restaurants that don't specialize in ramen arent the best but I can confidently say that I would come back if i wanted ramen! The broth was so flavorful and it came with a soft chasu piece that was SOO GOOD! I am so excited to try their curry katsu or snow katsu in the future! Service here was so great! We got offered kimchi, rice and a spicy katsu sauce for our potato shrimp! Everything came out perfect and timely! I would highly recommend giving this place a try. The katsu here is very oishii! It's mostly crispy on the outside and nice and tender on the inside. I got the snow onion katsu which was delicious. Unfortunately my katsu had lil parts of soggy breading, but my sister's was crispy :/ this place is also fairly pricey for a simple meal of katsu, rice, and miso soup, but it's a solid spot if you're craving japanese food! The service was great and the restaurant has nice chic interior. I recommend giving this place a try if you like katsu! read more

Overall the food was good but thought it was pricey for the amount that they give you and it was not fulfilling as my partner and I thought it would be. The service was pretty fast and attentive; definitely a causal ambiance to stop by for a solid lunch and/or dinner. We got the Chicken and Cheese katsu and both were very good. The chicken katsu was well battered and crispy on the outside and juicy in the inside. I honestly liked this better than the cheese katsu, but the cheese katsu was extremely flavorful and gooey. The sauces were good as well and complimented both katsu well. While the food was good, we were left just barely full and thought the portion were a bit more priced than average. It was good that they gave us miso soup and a salad as starters but it still didn't quite fill us up with the main entrees. Would come here if the mood strikes but wouldn't go out of my way to come here. read more

I've been looking for a katsu place in Northern Virginia for years and I'm more than happy that Kazone opened! As of this review, I have visited twice was quite happy with the katsu sets that I have tried so far - Cheese Katsu and Rosu Katsu. If you love cheese, I definitely recommend getting the cheese katsu. But if you like more protein, then get rosu katsu or chicken katsu. The place can be packed especially during peak hours so I suggest going early or late lunch or dinner. You won't be disappointed! read more
Kazone is currently doing a soft opening! Katsu can seem simple but it is easy to make super dry, etc. My Cheese Katsu was the perfect crunch and softness. Portions of the menu weren't available when I went so I want to go back and try the extended menu! There was only one waiter who was super busy but I am glad that people are adventuring out and trying this place! I made a reservation on Google and the service was seamless. So happy I found a good katsu spot in the DMV. There are so many different types of katsu listed on the menu, plus lots of options for apps as well. The croquettes were delicious, as was their curry and snow katsus. Even though it is a small space, it was easy finding seating on a week night dinner. 3.5 stars TL;DR: Good flavor, service was attentive, temperature of the food was meh. This restaurant specializes in Katsu/Japanese fusion food. Came here with a group of 7 during their soft opening. The space is a bit small, but have a decent amount of tables and spacing between. The server was attentive and good at clearing out table when we had empty plates. FOOD: ~Croquette (3/5): Fried mashed potato ball. Decent flavor. Nice and crispy on the outside. For how crispy it was, it was surprisingly not that hot. ~Karaage (3/5): basically like a chicken nugget. Small portion for the price, but the chicken was super tender and juicy. Came with a flight of sauces that you could choose from. Again, not as hot as I would have liked ~Chasu Pork Bun (4/5): I actually really enjoyed these. Comes with 3 buns. The pork was cut very thin. I added the cabbage from our other appetizers to add a crunch. With some cabbage and maybe thicker pieces of the pork, this bun would have been amazing. ~Rose Katsu (4/5): Their signature dish. Traditional pork katsu that comes with a mustard wasabi sauce sauce. Soft pork, crispy breading, good flavor. Aaand again, it was just barely warm/room temp. ~Cheese Katsu (3/5): Flavor was good, portion was very small for the price. It was warm, but it cooled down enough for the cheese to barely pull apart. This was like a fancy mozzarella stick ~Gyu Katsu (3.5/5): Beef base. Tasted like a chicken parmesan made with beef ~Ebi Katsu (3.5/5): The shrimp is fried whole with the heads on, so if you don't like that then the head pops right off. This was probably the only thing that was actually HOT. It tasted good and came with a side of curry to dip it in (the curry was not hot....) This was the soft opening, so I'm sure they are still working out the kinks and flow of getting food out the kitchen. Will probably give it another try once they have their grand opening. read more
