Came in to try out the new location. The space is cool and the food was excellent. Our server William was super attentive and really made it a great experience. There is validated parking around the corner too for $2. We'll definitely be back again soon. The only negative I'll mention is that their queuing system could use some thought. We visited KazuNori this past weekend and had a great overall experience. We were seated fairly quickly, though the place got really busy right after we arrived. We ordered the 6-hand-roll set, and I swapped the crab and scallop rolls for extra toro and salmon. Everything was delicious--especially the toro and salmon, which were incredibly fresh and easily my favorites. The only real disappointment was the lobster roll; it was a bit chewy and didn't have the same clean flavor as the others, so I didn't end up finishing it. My friends who ordered the crab mentioned that it tasted very fishy--so much so that they questioned whether it was even crab. I'm definitely glad I skipped that option. On the bright side, the yellowtail was excellent, and all the fish overall was seasoned and prepared well. I'll definitely be back, but I'll stick to the toro, salmon, and yellowtail next time--and I've heard the scallops are good, so I'm planning to try those. I''ve been going to this chain of restaurants for years. Today, I pleasantly stumbled upon the Pasadena location, but this ended up being my only disappointing experience to date. I was seated almost immediately and they took my order, so I thought I'd try the Nozie (chef's choice). Several more parties arrived after me but it wasn't really that busy. More than 20 minutes had passed, enough to finish a chapter in my book, and I was asked if I had received any food yet. I said "no," and the gentleman went to talk with the chef. Meanwhile, I watched people that had been seated after me receiving their 2nd and 3rd rounds. I asked another staff member if there was something wrong with my order, and they said "no." At this point, I just told them I would come back another time. At no point was any explanation given for why I hadn't been served, and considering I've never been to this location before I doubt I'll be returning. In retrospect, it seemed as if they didn't want to, or couldn't make my order for some unknown reason. For a restaurant group I've come to appreciate for decent food and friendly service, this was a fail. read more

Really delicious handrolls - been several times now and always walked out happy and full. I typically did the 6 rolls and added 2-3 rolls on top but most people seemed to be good with just 5-6 rolls all in. Service / eating is pretty quick (expect to have your meal done in 25 to 45 min from sitting to leaving), which is to be expected given the big demand. Reasonable on substitutions - some rolls couldn't be changed but all the ones I had issues with (can't eat shellfish) they were happy to sub out. For those worried about lines - it seems if you get there before 11:30 all the days I went you'd get seated, but depending on the weather/day by 11:35 to 11:40-ish all seats are full and then you have to wait for it to start emptying which is usually around 12 when first new seats open up (and it prob doesn't matter much if you arrive 11:40 or 12 -- since most seats from round 1 will open up very quickly one after the other as the first round wraps up) read more

This place is so good. Fresh fish, perfect rice, crisp seaweed. Also, considering the quality and name, VERY affordable. My favorite was the yellowtail hand roll closely followed by the salmon and toro hand rolls. The staff is very friendly and attentive. I had never been before but my friends had. I've been to Sugarfish a couple times -- while it's always been good, the hand rolls are always the part of the meal I like best, so a hand rolls-only spot from the same chef seemed like a no-brainer. Wasn't disappointed on my first visit. While it's not exactly a budget spot, the prices are hardly unreasonable for the quality of fish you're getting. The nori is perfectly toasted, which is one of the big factors that elevates these hand rolls above the others you're going to get at this price point. The lobster roll was amazing, and the yellowtail close behind. Strangely, the toro was probably my least favorite roll in the lineup, which is the inverse of how I usually feel when ordering sushi. But I definitely enjoyed everything. I like that they've kept this place simple, with a streamlined menu and a streamlined ordering process to get people in and out without wasting time with all the usual sit-down restaurant processes. That does mean it's not really a spot to linger for an intimate dinner, but it also means the line moves at a pretty fast clip. Will definitely be back. read more

i love the westwood kazunori, so i had to come when i saw one opened in pasadena. i had to wait about 20 minutes, but the food and service was amazing! our server was so attentive, replacing my napkin, refilling water, getting me more ginger (all without prompting). i ordered the 3 roll set and salmon sashimi. the fish was so fresh & i love how the nori is not soggy! will definitely be back. (only con is it was super sunny and the line inside by the window gets super hot :( but will still come again, probably will bring a fan if its hot out lol) read more

I've always loved KazuNori, which is why this experience was especially disappointing. While we were seated and eating, our server accidentally spilled soy sauce all over me and my friend. It soaked our pants, drenched our phones, and got all over our belongings. We had somewhere to be right after, so this wasn't just inconvenient ...it completely disrupted our plans. The server apologized, but we were left sitting there drenched and had to ask for towels ourselves while trying to clean soy sauce off our clothes and phones. The manager came over and asked if we were okay, but that was the extent of it. There was no urgency to help us clean up and no offer to comp the meal or make the situation right. Accidents happen!! I understand that. But when something leaves guests soaked and scrambling to clean themselves up, there should be more care and follow-through. I've always enjoyed coming here, which makes this situation even more frustrating and sad. Very disappointing experience. read more

I am so happy with this location. KazuNori is one of my favorite restaurants of all time. My husband & I would drive to the Marina Del Rey location so often because of how much we love the fresh food. When they opened in Pasadena we got so happy since we are local. When I say we basically come once a week. The service is amazing and the staff is so personal & nice. Manager Huy always makes a mean to have a little convo & ask about your day. Come here for a quick sushi fix. The fish is fresh and delicious, which is the most important thing when it comes to raw fish. Other than that, this is not the place to meet up with friends and catch up. There's no lingering here, just eating. Seating is only at the bar, no tables, and the stools are small, hard, and unyielding. They don't encourage getting comfortable and settling in. It's just sit, eat, drink, leave. That's not to say the service wasn't impeccable and friendly. The chefs and wait staff were all fantastic and attentive. 5 stars for service. The price-fix menu is reasonable and satisfying, with options for smaller or larger orders of rolls, plus there is an ala carte menu. The rolls are very basic without any embellishments like gobo root or shiso leaf, and the size provides about 4 - 5 bites if you're being prolite. The chefs crank out the rolls with perfect timing. Never two rolls on the plate at once and no lag time between rolls. Just consistent service. The sake comes in a convenient single-serving glass container and is the perfect amount to go with the meal. My 5-item, $25 meal with one glass of sake came out to just over $41 after the service fee and tax was added. This place rates 5 stars for quality, service, and vibe. But, I prefer a little bit more comfortable seating, so 3 stars for that. 4 stars overall. read more
