    Spicy creamy tonkotsu ramen
    Kendrick L.

Came for lunch and saw a huge line outside, but it was actually for the bakery next door. We were seated fairly quickly for a Saturday afternoon despite it being very busy. They have a nice waiting area inside as well. I ordered the spicy creamy tonkotsu ramen, which has a kick but not too bad. The cream foam was a nice touch on the broth, and added a nice texture. Mealwise the ramen was affordable and delicious. The waiters are friendly, and there's a hilarious cat bathhouse photo in the bathroom. Next time, I will have to try the specialty they're named for, the tosakko ramen.

There is a couple of parking lots around the area and all of them are paid parking. Unless you park further away towards city hall, you may be able to find free parking (please adhere to the parking restrictions in the city). The restaurant was small, but they can accommodate large groups. Each table is given a tablet to self order. The wait staff were super friendly and was quick to replace dropped utensils! Their spam masubi can be a meal of its own! So much rice is packed under the slice of spam. It contains seaweed and not your typical sauce inside. Between the ramen and yakitori, I would rate the ramen to be higher than the yakitori. We got the butter ramen and what doesnt look like a lot of noodles, there was enough to share with someone. You can definitely taste the butter. The cha shu was thin, broth was okay, but loved the noodles. I felt the yakitori didnt hit the mark. I got the chicken skin. It wasnt crispy enough for my preference. I was sad that they didnt have a plain pork belly. So I got the pork belly with lettuce. The pork was thinly sliced and had too much lettuce in my opinion. The lettuce tasted and felt like it was blanched, and afterwards, all I kept tasting was the lettuce. (Tmi: I kept burning up the taste of the lettuce). I loved the staff, but it was a miss for me on the yakitori.

Saw this on instagram in the morning and yes I did. I went there for dinner. I felt like the prices were reasonable. The restaurant was big but they were busy and we did have to wait a little. Ramen was so delicious! The broth is amazing, we left nothing in the bowls. Got few yakitori, I just love them. So delicious! Overall, we had a great experience. Staff was super nice and tentative. Definitely a place I would come back to.

The interior is modern and clean. The tosakko ramen was flavorful yet not oily. I really enjoyed it. The chicken yakitori was good. Service was fine. This restaurant is located next to Lunasia Dim Sum across from Paseo Colorado.

Came here on a Saturday evening during soft opening. This is probably the first '1-star' experience I've written in years. Im writing this while waiting a half hour after paying my bill for the rest of my order, skewers, to come out. This place needs to work on their scheduling. Im seeing the group seated 20 minutes after me get their skewers before me. I ended up getting the rest of my order to go 40 minutes after paying my bill. I would've left at around 20 minutes after, but they weren't able to figure out how to partial refund my order either. This place could've either, offered something equivalent much earlier or actually keep track of what sold out and wasn't readily available.

This was a pleasant surprise and one of the best things we ate during our weekend in Pasadena! Everything is shareable so we ordered a few chicken dishes with rice. The garlic edamame was very garlicky. I love it but if you're not into garlic, you may want to avoid it. We definitely plan to go back on our next visit to Pasadena. The service and the food is great!!

Decent ramen and I do appreciate the lighter chicken ramen option since many of the ramen options were on the heavier or creamy end from what I can tell on the menu. If you don't want something too heavy, the chicken broth ramen hits the spot with very good broth. My fiance had a slightly different opinion that the pricing was on the higher end for what we got but I think worth a try if you're in the area, like shopping for Badash Bakes next door. Service was very on top of things and polite, so bonus points for that. Ambiance is also comfortable and it hasn't gotten too busy yet during soft opening, so easy to stop by and try. Parking is all street, but relatively easy around the city hall area if you don't mind walking down a block or so. Pay to park.

Family and I came here for dinner on a Saturday night and thankfully it wasn't too crowded. The interior is nice and there was still a sign posted on the front door for soft opening hours so not sure if they are still in soft opening. We were immediately greeted and taken to our table when we entered. The menu is extensive and the staff was very kind. Very good with refilling our waters. The only thing about the menu is that there aren't a lot of vegetarian options. However, the staff and kitchen were very accommodating with my vegetarian requests, which I was so grateful for. I ordered the mazesoba, which was actually pretty good. The noodles were thicker than your average ramen noodles but still delicious. My husband really enjoyed his chashu ramen and even ordered extra noodles/broth. My family really enjoyed eating here but there are limited vegetarian options for those that have a different diet. Still a good option for dinner.

Okay ramen. Best part was probably the chashu slices. Everything else... could have been better. Noodles were fresh but not very bouncy or chewy. Broth didn't have a lot of flavor. Overall, it didn't really stand out to make me eager to go back. We got the tonkatsu and tosakko ramen, and the broth between the two didn't taste that different. I figured I'd try the yakitori while I was there. Mainly it's chicken and pork skewers. I only tried the chicken skin and the mushroom. The chicken skin was great because of how they grilled it to taste so crispy, but the mushroom was okay. It didn't really taste like it was grilled.

We are back again and that's only meant that their food are amazing not to mention their service (no Kelly today) as wonderful as always. Their decorations is plenty with Anime like One Piece which perfect for my son. Come by and prove me wrong , one of the best spot for Ramen in LA

    Tossako ramen
    Peter L.

I've had a good number of bowls of ramen in Japan, throughout the US and Asia and even in Belgium, so I definitely like ramen. Recently opened, Tossako specializes in ramen and yakitori and both items were really good. Tried both the Tossako ramen and butter miso, and I really enjoyed both of them. The broth is rich without being too heavy. The charshu is cut thick, so you can actually taste and enjoy it. We only tried one skewer, negima, but that was also solid. You can taste the char from the grill but the chicken was juicy and not at all dry and grilled perfectly (not burned). Service was friendly and attentive and the space is very clean and minimal/modern. Would definitely return here on my next visit back to Pasadena.

Its all hype.. ramen is mediocre ..chicken skin took 30 mins to come.. and 1 small bite later.. gyoza filling was weak.. Definitely not coming back!

HAKATA SET (Your choice of: Tonkotsu or Miso Ramen, comes with Mini Spicy Tuna Don, Chicken Karaage 2 pcs, Tsukemono) This was one of the set items for the lunch special. Chose the miso ramen. The miso ramen had a very strong white miso flavor. Didn't hate it, as I do love miso, but it was a little too much miso for my liking. Typical curly ramen and it was cooked well. Loved the jammy egg too. It was a soy marinated egg. There were also three pieces of chashu too! It was good, but slightly overcooked. The portion of the ramen was medium sized and was surprised they didn't bring a smaller size since it was a set meal. But happy they were generous! Spicy tuna don was a small bowl, but they gave a good portion of spicy tuna, which was delicious. Chicken karaage were two pieces of chicken and it was just okay. No tsukemono was served with the meal. Overall the meal was satisfying. I think the price was fair for what was given. CUSTOMER SERVICE Good, friendly and attentive customer service. No complaints! AMBIANCE / TABLES + SEATS Very calm and relaxing ambiance. It was quiet and no music was playing, which I liked. The restaurant was super clean and I liked how the tables were set. Large tables in the back and small tables were closer to the front. Bar seats on the side. It was a medium-sized restaurant, but the layout made it feel larger. Clean bathroom too. PARKING The closest and most logical parking spot was the one right across from the restaurant. School House Garage on 33 E Green St, Pasadena, CA 91105. Rates: $1.00 first 2 hrs, $2.00 for each additional hour. $12 for the full day. I liked the set menu, it was good for the price and I would like to return to try their other lunch menu items, whether it would be a set menu or a la carte.

It was so good, that we ordered two! The only reason that I only gave it a four out of five stars is because the service was slow. All of our dishes, came out in time, but no drink refills were given and the server never came back to collect our check for payment. So we had to walk it up to them ourselves. The first time was for their 13th anniversary tuna bowl special and it was honestly one of the best tuna bowls I've had in a while. I would recommend parking at the Delacey parking structure for reliable and affordable parking (it's around an 8 minute walk). There was about a 10-20 minute wait after we arrived and the staff was very attentive throughout the entire experience. 1. Tuna Bowl: Their once a year anniversary special ($13 for their 13th anniversary), and this might've been my favorite dish I've had here. The cuts of tuna were incredibly fresh. The toro was thick-cut with a melt in your mouth texture. The sushi rice was also cooked and seasoned perfectly, which added a really nice touch to the dish. I would order this any time if it were on the regular menu! 2. Sushi lunch set with negitoro hand roll and miso soup: A solid lunch set with a variety of sushi that was all very fresh. Perfect way to end a meal with something light and refreshing; the sorbet was actually pretty creamy with the yuzu flavor being pronounced, yet soft at the same time. Service was also great! They checked on our table frequently and made sure we had everything we needed. Ambiance? Seating was quite comfortable, but we can on an off hour so we basically had the restaurant to ourselves.

Very impressed with this place and the quality of the omakase!…read more Came here for my boyfriend's birthday and we got their omakase set to share between the both of us and wow the quality of all of this was so good! Everything was fresh and didn't taste too fishy! We also gave the beef short ribs nabe a try, wasn't too impressed by the soup base but the meat falls off the bone! Love how they slow cooked it and it was delicious! Definitely coming back for more next time!

Stumbled in on a Wednesday in the early evening, and had plenty of open seating to choose from…read more Immediately, I was cheerfully greeted and seated by one the servers, and then given two menus--a traditional folding menu with a padded backing I can really only describe as "satisfyingly textured," and a beautiful 3x8 wooden slab engraved with a QR code for the picture menu. I had planned to be phone-free for the hour, but curiosity bested me and I whipped out my phone for a scan. The bulgogi with rice and miso called to me, strangely, considering the heat outside. The atmosphere at this slow hour was so nice I almost wished it was raining. A few Clairo and The Marías songs later (at the perfect volume--audible, but still low enough to have a quiet chat) my miso soup arrived. Now, it's been a good few years since I've had miso soup, and I've never really been crazy about it, but this... this was some damn good soup. Liquid umami. Then the bulgogi and rice came. This is the best bulgogi I've ever had. So tender. Quite literally melted in my mouth. Punches of savory juice, tender fatty bits, golden brown perfectly caramelized onions, and a sweetness to bring it all together. Every bite was perfect. It washed over me and my shoulders and spine practically uncoiled themselves. I want to try more from the menu but... I'm... I'm going to need this again. Like tomorrow. I should say, especially for the price, this is a lot o' grub. A perfect filling portion, especially with the rice and soup. I had a smoothie a couple hours earlier so I really should've asked for a to-go box 80% of the way through... but I was just having too much fun stuffing my face to stop. To recap--lovely service, great music, and food to live for. And a restroom. It's not public, but they do have a restroom. Thank god for that restroom. I was hungry, yes, but more than anything I really needed that restroom.

My partner and I shared the rainbow roll, mango cha cha roll, lemon salmon roll, salmon bento box, and cheese bulgogi. I really enjoyed the creative specialty sushi rolls, with my favorite roll being the mango cha cha roll. It tasted savory from the crispy shrimp tempura, while the fresh mango on top added a nice, refreshing pop of sweetness. As for the lemon salmon roll, it tasted fresh and more citrus-forward. Surprisingly, the salmon bento box was very filling and balanced. This included 2 pieces of grilled teriyaki salmon, 4 pieces of California roll, mixed tempura, miso soup, and a small salad with dressing. For anyone who does not eat raw fish, this would be the perfect dish. For the cheese bulgogi, there was a sweet-savory soy garlic flavor. I liked that the meat was thinly sliced, which paired perfectly with the gooey melted cheese. However, it was a bit saltier than I'd like it to be. Some rice and miso soup was served alongside this to balance out the richness from the cheese. Service could have been better. It seems that the staff were not very attentive at times, even though the place was not busy. Nonetheless, all of the food was pretty good and there was a chill atmosphere. This is a solid sushi bar to visit for either lunch or dinner.

The space is cozy, dim, and stylish perfect for a slow, flavorful night of yakitori, small plates, and sake. The sushi is clean and high quality, the skewers come out smoky with that perfect char, and the wagyu dishes are the kind that make you pause mid conversation. Their sauces and marinades lean bold, and the plating always feels intentional without being pretentious. Service is warm, pacing is smooth, and the whole experience feels like a neighborhood gem that knows exactly what it's doing. A refined but relaxed izakaya with standout flavors, great energy, and a menu worth exploring bite by bite.

Even if don't like seabass, you must try this one! it's buttery, perfectly charred and melts in your mouth. The prime beef is equally impressive: tender, packed with rich umami flavor, and cooked to perfection. For a larger dish, you can't go wrong with either the sea bass or blue crab hot pot. It's so rich and comforting, the fish is always perfectly cooked, and it's more than enough food for two people. Be sure to order a side of seaweed and make your own hand rolls at the table. The kabocha salad is also unexpectedly delicious and pairs well with the other indulgent items in this order. They recently moved next door and they may be overbooking themselves so expect to wait quite a while- even if you have reservations.
