It came out grey because of the charcoal (don't let the color deceive you!) it was delicious! Also really enjoyed the mazesoba ramen and the tosakko (both came with a perfectly cooked egg). One bummer is that there isn't free parking in this area, so I usually park a few blocks away in the residential area and walk over. read more

Pretty affordable price for the size on the ramen, but relatively pricier on the other dishes including yakitori. It's hot and sunny day, which was prolly contradictory weather for having ramen, yet full air-conditioned venue did help! Getting their #1 on the menu, the pork broth was flavorful and more on thinner side, nice and not overly creamy. The chashu slices were decent and the ajitama egg was flawlessly cooked! We also tried their chicken tail and chicken thigh with green onion yakitori, cooked in lusciously sweet yakitori sauce. Stumbled upon this ramen/ yakitori restaurant. I had no expectations so I was pleasantly surprised of the quality of the ramen for $16!! It's so hard to find a ramen spot that doesn't cost over $20 for a bowl in LA area. We also tried variety of their yakitori, I prefer salted yakitori over tare (sauce) and was told salted is available upon request.. The salted yakitori was a bit bland, could use a bit more salt. Maybe they specialize in sauce yakitori so maybe my fault for ordering salted. Their homemade gyoza is pretty pricey for only 5 pcs, but they do taste very homemade. True Japanese gyoza with lots of chives and a good punch of garlic. I'd definitely come back to try their other bowls of ramen. read more

I stopped by on a Saturday for lunch and was really blown away by how tasty their ramen is! Ordered the mazesoba, a soupless ramen. The noodles were nice and thick, while the sauce had delightful pork fat bits adding to the savoriness. The chashu had a lovely smokiness from being torched. It came with the jammy egg and a side of a light chicken broth as a palate cleanser. They also have skewers on the menu. I ordered the gizzard and it was delicious. Came for lunch and saw a huge line outside, but it was actually for the bakery next door. We were seated fairly quickly for a Saturday afternoon despite it being very busy. They have a nice waiting area inside as well. I ordered the spicy creamy tonkotsu ramen, which has a kick but not too bad. The cream foam was a nice touch on the broth, and added a nice texture. Mealwise the ramen was affordable and delicious. The waiters are friendly, and there's a hilarious cat bathhouse photo in the bathroom. Unless you park further away towards city hall, you may be able to find free parking (please adhere to the parking restrictions in the city). The restaurant was small, but they can accommodate large groups. Each table is given a tablet to self order. The wait staff were super friendly and was quick to replace dropped utensils! Their spam masubi can be a meal of its own! So much rice is packed under the slice of spam. It contains seaweed and not your typical sauce inside. Between the ramen and yakitori, I would rate the ramen to be higher than the yakitori. We got the butter ramen and what doesnt look like a lot of noodles, there was enough to share with someone. You can definitely taste the butter. The cha shu was thin, broth was okay, but loved the noodles. I felt the yakitori didnt hit the mark. I got the chicken skin. It wasnt crispy enough for my preference. I was sad that they didnt have a plain pork belly. So I got the pork belly with lettuce. The pork was thinly sliced and had too much lettuce in my opinion. The lettuce tasted and felt like it was blanched, and afterwards, all I kept tasting was the lettuce. (Tmi: I kept burning up the taste of the lettuce). Came here on a Saturday evening during soft opening. This is probably the first '1-star' experience I've written in years. Im writing this while waiting a half hour after paying my bill for the rest of my order, skewers, to come out. This place needs to work on their scheduling. Im seeing the group seated 20 minutes after me get their skewers before me. I ended up getting the rest of my order to go 40 minutes after paying my bill. I would've left at around 20 minutes after, but they weren't able to figure out how to partial refund my order either. Decent ramen and I do appreciate the lighter chicken ramen option since many of the ramen options were on the heavier or creamy end from what I can tell on the menu. If you don't want something too heavy, the chicken broth ramen hits the spot with very good broth. My fiance had a slightly different opinion that the pricing was on the higher end for what we got but I think worth a try if you're in the area, like shopping for Badash Bakes next door. The interior is nice and there was still a sign posted on the front door for soft opening hours so not sure if they are still in soft opening. We were immediately greeted and taken to our table when we entered. The menu is extensive and the staff was very kind. Very good with refilling our waters. The only thing about the menu is that there aren't a lot of vegetarian options. However, the staff and kitchen were very accommodating with my vegetarian requests, which I was so grateful for. I ordered the mazesoba, which was actually pretty good. The noodles were thicker than your average ramen noodles but still delicious. My husband really enjoyed his chashu ramen and even ordered extra noodles/broth. My family really enjoyed eating here but there are limited vegetarian options for those that have a different diet. This is a new popular ramen and yakitori place in Pasadena. Initially came on a Saturday night to try but the wait was too long and decided to visit it on Sunday for lunch instead. We arrived about 30 minutes before opening, but it looks like most people came 10-15 minutes before. I would recommend coming early to catch the first way if you're a party of 3 or more. Overall we were really happy with the food. The backfat tonkotsu ramen was pure pork flavor without the funk. The miso butter ramen had a prominent miso flavor. The chashu was tender and tasty while the corn in the miso seemed swimming in butter flavor. The yakitori skewers were all really too! The grilled chicken was especially super moist and tender. We did order a variety and unfortunately the skewers do take their time to arrive. Overall I would give them 4.5 stars for soft opening as they do need to work on the timing of the yakitori grill read more

Overall, it didn't really stand out to make me eager to go back. We got the tonkatsu and tosakko ramen, and the broth between the two didn't taste that different. I figured I'd try the yakitori while I was there. Mainly it's chicken and pork skewers. I only tried the chicken skin and the mushroom. The butter miso had more a subtle miso flavor and it had a lot of white and green onions in it which I didn't enjoy. I came here on a Thursday for lunch a few days after their soft opening. It wasn't too busy inside, but there is ample amount of space inside with both table and bar seating for the yakitori bar. I decided to try the classic Tosakko ramen recommended by the staff as it was their signature from Japan. The ramen came with 2 slices of chashu and a sliced egg which was a pleasant surprise given how many places don't include that anymore. I've had a good number of bowls of ramen in Japan, throughout the US and Asia and even in Belgium, so I definitely like ramen. Recently opened, Tossako specializes in ramen and yakitori and both items were really good. Tried both the Tossako ramen and butter miso, and I really enjoyed both of them. The broth is rich without being too heavy. The charshu is cut thick, so you can actually taste and enjoy it. We only tried one skewer, negima, but that was also solid. You can taste the char from the grill but the chicken was juicy and not at all dry and grilled perfectly (not burned). Service was friendly and attentive and the space is very clean and minimal/modern. Would definitely return here on my next visit back to Pasadena. read more

Came in for lunch with my wife and toddler. Ordered a smattering of yakitori and a couple bowls of ramen. The yakitori skewers were generally all bangers. Tried various chicken, pork, veg. The only thing that I didn't love was the ckn wing. It comes lightly seasoned, bone in. Not a big deal, everything else was great. Loved the okra too. Great charcoal flavor. Ramen was also fabulous. Tonkatsu regular & spicy. Wife thinks it's the best she's had in LA. Hard for me to make such a judgement but I finished every single bit of my bowl, broth included. Service was good, helping us several times reclaiming chopsticks the kid tossed in the floor, etc. Parking kind of sucks. Lot out back was cash only when I went in, so I had to move to the lot across from that one. Overall, excited to go back and maybe drink like 15 beers while eating yakitori. read more

Wow! I'd like to think I have a good eye for ramen, as in just by looking at a bowl I can tell whether I'd like the toppings and broth (based off my own personal preference). This was goood! I ordered the Creamy Tonkotsu ramen and it met expectations with its egg, broth, and pork. It's hard to find a frothy ramen broth, so I'm happy that it's much more accessible to me now as a 626 resident. The restaurant itself is a gorgeous space with beautiful ceramics + bowls/plating, and my hostess today (Friday 3/27 around ~12 pm) gave suchhh great service with her friendliness and attentiveness. Happy to see this addition to the Pasadena area and hope to see it thrive! We went for a very last minute Father's Day's dinner - all 8 us! Because this restaurant is new in our neighborhood, I didn't expect them to be busy, but they were AND under- staffed! That being said, the two wonderful women in the dining room were amazing. They kept calm, provided excellent service and never once made anyone feel rushed or uncomfortable. When the counter opened up, I asked for we could all sit there which they graciously agreed to. Voila' ! I am a huge fan of their ramen broth - very flavorful but not heavy as you find elsewhere. Even my youngest grandkids loved it! We also had gyozas, grilled asparagus, grilled charcoal chicken and garlic edamame, all of which were delicious! Wonderful food, wonderful staff! We came here on a Thursday evening around 6pm with my husband and 18 month old. We ordered the Tosakko Ramen and the Soba as well as a few items off the yakitori menu (chicken thigh, okra, chicken liver, meatball). The staff was extremely attentive, food came out quickly and we were able to get in and out in 45 min which was helpful with our daughter's bedtime. The noodles in the ramen and soba had a delightful chew! The broth of the ramen had a lot of depth of flavor without being too heavy/oily. The chasu was well prepared. It all felt intentionally executed. Our daughter gobbled up the noodles and chugged the soup so it's toddler approved. The yakitori quickly came out and was flavorful. The chicken liver was tasty and had a nice creaminess to it. The chicken thigh with scallions was our favorite of the yakitori. The meatballs are made in house. And the okra tasted very fresh. Welcome to the neighborhood! We're excited to come back and try more items. My daughter selected this relatively new Ramen & Yakitory diner for lunch. And what a wonderful experience it was! From the moment we entered the expansive eating area, to our professional and amiable server Ed, to their fantastic food and hard-to-find Kyoto White Ale, the eating experience was amazing! Love the ramen here. It is amazing I got the creamy broth and it was 10/10. The service was amazing fast and ready to answer any questions you have love that they go over the menu with u before ordering. You order with a tablet but very easy to use. Small place but moves quickly. Nice seating and nice art and tv's playing as you eat ur meal. Oh and they have a nice bar as well. I recommend this place if u want good food and services. This place took over the old Kopan location in Old Town. I was definitely excited to get another Ramen joint in town. Located on Colorado a block east of old town Pasadena. Street parking. You'll look around and find it. Not sure if it's free or paid because the city has been putting up new machines for pay. The space is clean, relatively spacious and comfy. I don't think anyone will have any issues here for a bowl of ramen. The food, we had the Tosakko ramen and Buttered miso. Also ordered a few skewers. The bowls of ramen themselves were well made. As far as taste and flavor it didn't blow me away. It's missing the depth you would get in your pork broth from places like Nagi, Ikkousha or even Tatsunoya down the street. The Chashu was decent. Their seasoned egg was well executed. Not too salty but flavorful. The noodles were a little soggy but to be honest sometimes that's how it's supposed to be. Think the noodles from Ramen Ban Nai. I would say overall the ramen here is decent but for me it's kind of middling. The skewer I tried honestly wasn't that memorable. It was cooked well and presentable but it lacked again anything that would make me really want to come back for it. Service. The service here was decent. Relatively quick and helpful. I really have no complaints here. The restaurant was fairly empty on a Saturday night so not sure how they would do under pressure but it was quick and easy service for me. Pricing. It's reasonably priced in this market. 2026 you're here spending $16-$17 bucks pre tax and tip on ramen which includes the egg and $5-$7 per skewer here. Not a bad deal and about average for ramen in general and slightly discounted for Pasadena near old town. All in all this was actually harder to review than I thought. I am giving the restaurant 3 stars because it's overall execution and my experience was good. It's fine to go. You may even enjoy it. If you appreciate the broth here this could be a 4 star joint. read more
