I also mentioned that I wanted both air filters replaced, knowing they weren't included with the Groupon. She was upfront and transparent about the pricing, and my total came to $129 before the Groupon. After the discount, it was only $81 out the door - such a great value! The technician who worked on my car was just as friendly. I had a feeling my air filters were going to be pretty bad, and he confirmed it (haha). He explained everything without making me feel pressured or uncomfortable. I've been to plenty of mechanic shops where I felt intimidated or like I was being upsold, but this place was completely different. Everyone was kind, honest, and genuinely welcoming. I made an appointment with KB Automotive Repair / CARMAX Repair Shop, expecting my scheduled time to be honored. Unfortunately, when I arrived, they were not ready to see my vehicle and made me wait well past my appointment time without any clear explanation or apology. The whole purpose of making an appointment is to avoid unnecessary delays, so it was very frustrating to have my valuable time wasted. If they are unable to keep scheduled appointments, they should be upfront about it instead of making customers wait. Based on this experience, I was disappointed with their customer service and respect for customers' time. I visit KB Auto almost exclusively for my Honda Accord as they are close by to my home, and I would recommend friends and family to visit their shop. Jasmine, the receptionist is very open about pricing concerns, very kind and friendly. The mechanics are knowledgeable and will respectfully take the time to explain facets of repairs for you, and let you voice your concerns; as they have on occasion for me. This place uses a classic bait-and-switch tactic. I called ahead and specifically asked if they accept Groupon coupons. They said yes, so I bought a Groupon oil change for $48 and scheduled an appointment for 3 PM. I arrived on time, but once I got there they suddenly started making excuses. They said my car is "too new" and they need to remove a plate covering the oil bolt, so they tried to charge me $100 plus tax and filter fees on top of the Groupon. If you're not going to honor the Groupon price, then don't advertise it and don't tell customers you accept it. This feels very misleading and dishonest. It wasted my time and felt like they were trying to pressure me into paying much more after I already showed up. I would strongly recommend avoiding this place. There are plenty of honest auto shops that won't play games with customers. read more

I've been driving for 30 years. Unfortunately, the stigma about mechanics and their ridiculous labor cost, and the actual price of the part ... Had been the case for me for years. I would leave feeling seriously taken advantage of and completely overcharged. When I first went to KBAutomotive, I was starting over in life. This was 11 years ago. I had went back to school and had gotten an old car, that needed a lot of work done. I was a full-time student, with a daughter in elementary school. At that time, I was only receiving FASFA an EBT. When I took my car to them, I couldn't afford all the work that needed to be done on my fixed income. Not only do I love to support family owned businesses, and this review is long overdue, but the biggest reasons why my daughter and I will be returning customers to KB automotive from here on out is . It is the genuine kindness the wife and husband expressed to me 11 years ago, which I haven't forgotten and I greatly appreciated what they did for me. I told them my situation, when I was in school, and that I was gonna have to come back when I had the money . They still had the best prices than their local competitors. They didn't just say OK come back when you have the money, they let me know about a program for students and low income households that I wasn't aware of . This program offered grants to help pay for the repairs needed. I never thought I was going to get this grant. I filled it out anyways and I stressed over my car. It wasn't long at all , when I received a letter in the mail that I qualified for the grant. Never did I imagine this grant was enough to pay almost 75% of the total cost of the repairs . They were truly a blessing to me at that time in my life . I needed that help just to get me to school and back and pick my daughter up from school. Needless to say I've had a few cars since then, knock on wood they have not had to have any major repairs. Just maintenance. A full synthetic, oil change from KB automotive , costs me half the price then what Valvoline, Midas, and Pep Boys were trying to charge me. Since then, my daughter, who is now a driver of two years , brings both of the cars there for the oil changes , and their smog's , or whatever maintenance that may be required. I hope people take the time , to read this review. This family owned business is a rare and dying breed a business owners. For someone like me to say that they have earned my trust is something I can't even say about people that are in my close circle of colleagues , and business associates. I highly recommend you take your vehicle to KB automotive .You'll be treated fairly, you will feel acknowledged and you know it's genuine and it's not just a butter you up to hit you with all these expensive repairs. I wouldn't take my car here ever again. I'll be very upfront with my reasoning. 1) They are overpriced, whether they want to admit or not they're up charging (because there mechanics are the best in the business lol or they have special batteries LOL.) 2) I spent a lot of money on my car here, it's older vehicle so I knew that maintenance was coming so I brought it to KB after just moving to the area. 3) First time no issues, oil change and a/c inspection. Upon my second time going to KB, asked them to check my front right tire due to a noise coming from it. They call me back with a laundry list of repairs that I need costing over $$3000!!! I initially declined and said let's just complete about a $1000 worth of repairs. Jasmine then calls me and tells me my car is unsafe to drive if I don't do the whole replacement. We went back and forth for awhile and was assured "you'll be taken care off with a discount when you come in to pick it up." I Never Got The Discount. 4) My vehicle took over a week to fix which I understand things happen but I was called twice to be told they're missing a part or ran out. 5) The real kicker??? After spending an astronomical amount of money here, my car dies on the freeway 4 days after leaving KB and having a safety inspection done on my car LOL!! I bring it back to KB to be told it's the battery and be quoted $800 to fix a fuel pump issue. I don't know if scammy is the right word but never again I felt like they took my money and did a low quality work. Really sucks read more

DO NOT COMR HERE! I have spent over hundreds of dollars here and live 2 mins away. Wasted my time multiple times and money. I paid them for an AC diagnosis and was told it just needed to be cleaned. So i paid $125 for that and 3 weeks later my AC started to act up again with the same issues. I call and tell them and they tell me to bring it in any day mon-fri anytime before 12. I work night shifts so my schedule is really tight but was able to bring it in on a monday at 12 and when i got there i was told to bring it back another day. So the next week i bring it back but on a Wednesday this time and they tell me the same thing AGAIN, to bring it back another time. I then asked for a refund and got denied and they told me they were doing me a favor? I regret coming here and dont plan on coming here ever again! This was my first time coming and I wont be returning. The lady was very rude to me but nice to her wrong customers. I was charged double because I used the wrong Groupon then I was encouraged not to use Groupon next time that she will give me a discount next time. I looked at the groupon price she told me she would charge me and thats their wrong price. I don't understand WHY they offer Groupon but don't want customers to use it. I was referred here by a friend but was a bit disappointed, I told them I thought the alternator was going bad and they checked my car, charged $125 for a diagnostic and told me nothing was wrong. 3 days later my car wouldn't start and took it somewhere else and it was indeed the alternator. They ended up selling me on new brakes, and some other things so I spend $1100 and didn't get the main problem fixed and then ended up spending another $550 elsewhere. They were very nice and provided good financing options but I felt like they didn't really do a good diagnostic based on the fact that the alternator went out 3 days later like I told them, thought it was the problem. read more

This place is listed under Groupon for a deal for oil change special. Purchased my deal and called to see if I can make an appointment for Saturday. They only take reservations during the week and weekends are first come basis. I was told they open at 8 A.M. so last Saturday drove over there to drop off my car and wait for my oil change to be done. When I got there the parking was kind of crazy but the place didn't seem too busy. They had lot of cars that were parked outside but couldn't tell if the cars all belonged to them or the other shop in front. Walked in after waiting for a customer to finish. They took her car and advised her to wait and it should be done in 40 minutes. So I thought to myself its not too bad since I am after her maybe maximum 1 hour wait. I told the guy that I am here to do an oil change and instead of him trying to fit me in. He just flat out said I cant invoice you yet but can you wait till noon or 1? no explanation of why I had to wait 4-5 hours? not sure why but I couldn't help but to think it was because I had groupon deal because he sure took the other lady in front of me that didn't use groupon immediately. So I walked out and traded in my deal and probably not returning. I should have read up about their ratings before purchasing because I see lot of them saying they were given a quote and being charged more than the quoted amount. read more

I have the best story, when I walked in Micheal said oh no, I said what? And he asked if I am bringing that 2008 dts Cadillac? I said - yes I am. I was leaving for a week, so no , I did not need the car for "yesterday". After 2 days Micheal called and he gave me the repair price. He said that the car is in great shape and fixing it I would give a car another 10 years, so I said lets do it. A week later i came to pick up the car, and Micheal ripped up the invoice and I figured Oh shit how much more? He handed me a new invoice, and it was a few hundred less. When has an auto shop done that?? We went out to the car and Micheal walked me through the work done. I drove away to home and a couple of hours later I drove 100 miles and it felt like a new car.
