You know how on tv, families all wake up early and someone always has time to make breakfast so they all sit around the table munching away happily before setting off for that days' adventure? Yeah.. I never had that. What I did have though, was an awesomesauce papa who would take me to this wonderful little donut shop every morning before school and get me donut holes so that I could be the envy of all my classmates! I've lived in the SGV my entire life and KC Donuts basically watched me grow up into the amazing person I am today! (**Jokes :D) It may not be a daily ritual anymore (Cos my waistline is suffering enough as it is) but it's still a deliciously fun treat every time I take my little brothers in! KC makes THE absolute best donut holes and cinnamon rolls! (Look at that, I rhymed. I'm totes a rapper! This place is wonderful! You know everything is made fresh daily. The ladies that work here are so sweet and caring. You won't be able to find a place with people that love being there. I recently stumbled across this gem, K C Donuts, and I must say I think I've found my new go to donut spot! The lady that runs the place is always nice and cheerful, the donuts are always good and fresh. One thing I noticed that makes this place stand out a little more, is the donuts aren't sticky. So I needed to get some quick donuts for a bunch of kids. I decided to go to this place since it was on my way. Their parking lot is small, but you're not staying there for long anyways. As I walked in, this very humble and nice lady asked me what I wanted. She seemed very lonely in the store and I felt bad for her :( her voice was so cute, she for sure has a strong Asian accent, I'm not too sure what it is. She was extremely nice, unlike some other women who work in donut shops are. They had a variety of donuts, but I was sad they didn't have too many sprinkled ones :( my kids love sprinkles on their donuts, but that's okay. They had like raspberry and lemon filled donuts, the traditional glaze, sugar, chocolate and maple of course. This place is in the San Gabriel Valley, and presumably Ice T spends most of his time in NYC or Beverly Hills. This must have been a drive for him. I absolutely see why this little donut shop deserved all the 5 star reviews!! I called last night, almost 7pm to ask what time they open today. The lady that answered the call told me that they open at 5am. I wanted to pick up donuts earlier since I was going to drop them off for some of my vendors. But I worked around my schedule and called her back to place an order for 7 dozen donuts, assorted. She didn't even ask me for my name or phone number, she just trusted that I would show up lol. I showed up way past 5:30 this morning and when I walked in, she smiled at me and asked me if I were picking up the 7 dozen donuts. I said yes. I looked over and there were 7 boxes of donuts set aside for me, all ready to go! I asked her to switch one box out into 2 half dozen boxes and she quickly split them for me, at no extra charge, no hassle, no attitude. She told me that she charges $7 per dozen, which is relatively inexpensive compared to other local donut shops!! HOWEVER, she knocked $1 off each box because she said I called a day in advance. So I got 7 dozen donuts for $42!! What a steal!! I will definitely become a regular at this donut shop. I must say I kind of like donuts. I don't usually go out and buy them though. See, when I was a little boy, my mom's friend would bring leftovers from her donut shop. The only thing I would ever ask for was the apple fritters. Fast forward 10-15 years later, I still don't really go out and buy donuts. I'll only eat them when coworkers bring them to work. Since I'm in a fairly big office and not everyone eats them, I may actually end up eating 3-4 donuts. Talk about breakfast of champions. They're pretty good but nobody ever brings apple fritters to work. So I sometimes get the urge to go out and buy an apple fritter. This donut shop is down the street from where I live, so I came here to try it out. The lady is very nice and the price is cheap, I believe it was $1.10 for an apple fritter. I've went to other places and the price ranges from $1.25 to $1.75. The fritter is humongous but I always manage to eat it all. It's crunchy on the outside but very soft in the inside...just the way I like it. I've went to five (5) or six (6) donut shops around the area for an apple fritter and I truly believe K C Donuts is the best of the bunch. It seriously reminded me of my childhood. So for National Doughnut Day 2016, I got 3 Half-Dozen Boxes. Person there was helpful. I got the normal varieties of donuts and as such, not much of a sprinkles selection. Might as well get a thai tea and ham sandwich. I was not disappointed. Fast forward couple of days, I went there again, because I suddenly craved donuts. Got another half-dozen but this time I picked thoughtfully. They had more of a sprinkles selection, but turns out I like Old-Fashioned donuts and also maple-flavored ones the most.
