It was a joy to watch him work; he made sure to greet each and every customer coming in the door, and was consistently so upbeat and positive. And many, MANY thanks to Tony at the grill! Our food was FANTASTIC!! I have high standards for Mediterranean food, and the falafel wrap was totally delicious! The falafel itself was perfectly cooked, with a crispy outer layer, and the other ingredients in the wrap were chosen for a perfect melding of flavors. I had the side salad, with homemade Thai peanut dressing, and it was equally tasty. My husband had the patty melt, which came on homemade bread (!) and was, per his report, perfectly done. His side was tater tots, and we shared them. They were crisp and light without being greasy, and addictively yummy! The restaurant is in a strip center; it's not very big, but the tables are well placed so that no one feels cramped. The open reception area and kitchen/grill make it easy for the staff to respond to what's happening in the dining room (e.g., new folks arriving). Temptation Alert: You will have to pass the desert display on your way to your seat, so take a good look before ordering your meal! Should you let your eyes outpace your stomach, you can pick up that slice of pie to take home for a late snack (yes, I have done that too). Service has always been above average, but can drag a bit depending on demand. While I have had a couple of "mistakes" (over cooked burger and steak), they were rectified immediately and cheerfully. The menu pretty much covers everything you would expect in a dinner: all the breakfasts most everyone looks for, lunch specials, and dinners that run from light fare to steaks and meatloaf! With that in mind, I have never been disappointed in either the quality or quantity of any meal. My recommendations are Steak and Eggs for Breakfast along with Meatloaf for dinner. Prices are well in line with the neighborhood and similar restaurants. Considering recent lockdowns in the area, social distancing is easily covered, and all employees wear masks. So when they brought out the warmed mashed potatoes we mentioned that, and they grabbed those to fix up, and asked us to check our steak. They were supposed to be medium, but were rare. So they took the steaks and my fries (the only thing edible so far). After 10 minutes the steaks were back, and looked good, along with a new order of the green beans, and we each got a replacement flame singed sliver of bread. So we taste the green beans, and now they taste like warm fish. So we got the manager again and I asked if they ever taste any of this stuff, and she didn't really know what to say. She said they'd take it off our bill, and we could have a free desert. Okay so back to the steaks, which were cooked right but too salty now. And that's when I realized they never brought back my fries. So we flag them down again, and eventually get the fries, which are good. The desert menu is a bunch of uninteresting goo, but we settle on something and get it to go. I pay the bill, tip 20%, and we get the heck out. Later we realize that they had accidentally added another steak entree to out order, then credited it off, just like the green beans and "free" desert, but their little machine calcutes the tip off the total before credits, so I actually payed a 50% tip. I navigated my way through the entrance and was relieved to find the whole foyer rigged with stickers--always a promising sign. The bar area delivered exactly what I needed since shipping out from the dive bar capital of the world: a long-beaten-to-hell counter with beautiful chaos anchored everywhere. Seated near the open kitchen, I caught one of the cooks lamenting a customer who wouldn't heed his wisdom on the economic alternative--that's the mark of a crew that knows their craft. The bartender, a properly insubordinate young mate, greeted me with genuine warmth, worked fast, and tossed the menu with just the right amount of swagger. The offerings were solid, and I was torn between pizza and the large Marge, but I set my compass for a burger instead. It arrived exactly as described--perfect.
