All I have to say is what a little gem this place is! The owner is so kind and you can really tell she puts love into all of her donuts. Our family stopped in this morning on our way back to Phx and found this place on Yelp. There were 7 of us and we finished our donuts before we got down the street. Just found this gem of a donut place a few days ago. My best friend lives in the area and I've been house-sitting for him for the past few days. Had a craving for donuts and went on Yelp and saw this was the closest place. Their donuts are fresh and tasty. They have a nice variety from twists to apple crullers. Wow. I often go into here before I have to go to work. I have a horrible job and this place inspires me. I'll ask a simple question about a doughnut and get berated. Then I will get ignored, then when I ask another simple question the shit really hits the fan. Ive been in here a few times and this morning stopped by in the morning to grab some donuts for the team at work and I will NEVER come back. I ordered 18 donuts and the owner grabbed a box and was just about to start picking out the donuts when she SNEEZED THREE TIMES WITHOUT COVERING HER MOUTH, (and I'm talking giant sneezes, she didn't even try to muffle them, she just let it rip) mind you the donuts in the display case probably got a nice spray, as well as anything else within 15 foot vicinity. She apologized like it was no big deal, blamed it on allergies, and then began picking out the donuts for me. She DIDN'T EVEN WASH HER HANDS! This is our favorite donut place. The quality is amazing (nice and light) and if you time it right in the am, you can get a French Kruller that's still hot. They are also nut free which is a plus if you are bringing donuts to school. The owner is great and personable and she does remember all of the kids that come through the shop. Also, I find it kind of ironic that there is a sign behind the display case that states "no cell phone zone" but to my surprise I see a cell phone sitting right inside the donut display case. I was visiting my mom in the area and felt like having something sweet. I went to the CVS to pick up some stuff and saw this donut shop. I grew up in a donut family as a kid. I even worked at my parents donut shop. So, I think I know a few things about what a donut should taste like. Anyways, I had my favorite donut, which is a maple bar. I have to say, this is definitely one of the best maple bars I've ever had. The frosting was just right. Not too heavy and not too light. The donut was very tender, moist, with the perfect amount of firmness. The best part was I didn't get the greasy aftertaste. So, I decided to have my other favorite, which is a buttermilk bar. Again, another excellent well made donut. After eating this I decided to bring a few donuts to mom. She really liked the donuts and asked where I got them. I told her it was from the shop down the hill. Yes, the decor could use a refreshening, but the place is still clean. If you want to have a great donut, give this place a try! I found Kd's donut shop after searching for a good simple donut. A friend recommended this donut shop. The glaze donut are fluffy and very light without that after oily taste. The owner is very friendly and nice, once in awhile she will tuck in an extra donut without your knowledge, a sweet treat! I've been to other donut shops that were highly rated on yelp, but after going there I was very disappointed, one bite and I can taste old oil. The donut goes straight to the trash if I can smell the oil! Sorry but that oily taste is not a lingering taste I would like in my mouth. I found out that Kd's changes their oil very often, that is why you do not have that after taste of oil like other donut shops. It is not a fancy place but their donuts are fresh, fluffy, light and no after oily taste . Try their French crullers or plain glaze donuts for light fluffy donuts! Their coffee is typical American water down coffee, if you are not picky about coffee than go for it. By the way, they do use a good brand "Gavina" coffee, but it is too water down for my taste. I need a strong coffee with sweet donuts for balance. I get my coffee else where and it is not starbucks!
