Came here after looking at reviews and because another place had a long wait time for a table of 9. Luckily they were able to get us a table pretty quick for a last minute reservation. Our waitress was great! We were a table of 6 adults and 4 children. So appreciated her patience. We did not expect the food to be as good as it was! Everyone at the table enjoyed their food. The lobster Mac and cheese were really good. I got the chimichurri steak, forgot what they called it on the menu. Although, their steak was chewy (it was cut along the grain vs. against) the flavors were definitely there. It was really good. Finally made it over here for HH. Cute spot; fireplace inside and small patio out back. Didn't realize it's connected to Oasthouse. Pretty decent options on Happy Hour menu. Ceviche and fish dip were really tasty. We both agreed the shrimp tacos had a very strange taste. They tasted plastic-y, and I think it was coming from the slaw. Drinks could have been a lot stronger, too. But, the prices were right for happy hour. Definitely want to come back to try some more dishes. read more

When I discovered this place was from the same minds behind District and Oasthouse, I had to make plans to stop by. Even though I'm not the biggest fan of seafood, I wanted to give this place a try! And I'm glad I did! Loved the decor and the look of the place. We started off dinner with some drinks and enjoyed the ones I ordered. Starting off with some apps, the fries with queso and crawfish is excellent! Perfectly crisp fries with some flavorful queso... yum! The gumbo is good too! Chef Amir is expanding his territory yet again with this upscale casual Port Aransas themed seafood restaurant, tucked in next door to the SW location of Oasthouse, and not far from the District. This menu seems pretty straightforward compared to his usual highly creative, sometimes experimental fare, but it works well for families and folks who like something fairly predictable, and we fit neatly into both categories on most occasions. We stopped in for dinner recently and caught the tail end of happy hour, which has some appealing drink and appetizer specials. We settled into a patio table and ordered drinks, some multi-colored chips and queso, and several entrees: the trio of Rockfish Tacos with a side of green apple slaw (a delicious must-try!); a Rockfish Poboy with seasoned fries; and the Crab Boil, with drawn butter and a side of boiled and seasoned corn and potatoes. All were tasty, with the tacos and poboy being probably the best deal at around $12, and at $30, the crab boil was a splurge, due to a current shortage and a craving that had to be satisfied. The restaurant focuses on serving sustainable Texas seafood offerings reminiscent of Port A, and the decor reflects that vibe. If you prefer to dine indoors, they have a nice airy dining area. Outdoors is a covered patio that advertises being dog-friendly. Rumor has it that it's hard to find a table during happy hour. The ordering system utilizes the QR code menu, but friendly servers were circulating and quickly honed in on our table to offer to take our order the old fashioned way. If you want to try the touchless QR method, just point your camera at the square code and touch the link that pops up. Most restaurants are moving toward this method in the Time of Covid, which we appreciate. read more

Probably the worst service in the city. This is our second time here. We thought we'd give it another chance, but the 2nd time is worse then the 1st. The ordering on the phone is fine, but the runners do not understand the menu, cannot answer questions and provide as much value as a robot. The food was cold, or lukewarm. The fries were actually hot and delicious. We had the fish tacos, a burger, halibut, and a grilled shrimp bowl. We also had oysters which were great. For the main courses though, everything we bellow average to average. In general the runners/waitstaff were dismissive and rude. Went here randomly on a Tuesday for a quick small bite and tried the hush puppies, ceviche verde and chicken satay. Have to say that the food we did have was fairly average in taste and excessive in price. To be fair, we didn't try the entrees which might have been excellent though also pricey. The ceviche was probably the best of the three. The chicken satay is very different than what one might expect if used to the Thai version of the dish. The chicken was tender but not too flavorful and the peanut sauce offered was bland. The hush puppies were very dry but at least it comes doused in a sauce to give it some much needed flavor and moisture. Inside, the place is nice enough. The service was also average but I feel like they were busy taking care of a Yelp elite event outside. At least the person that greeted us at the front was very friendly. read more

We decided to try this new place last night. We'd noticed a it in the neighborhood but hadn't looked into it before. There are actually two restaurants inside, this one on the right when you enter and a German restaurant on the left. I like German food but there was a 30 minute wait at Oasthouse, so we went into Keepers. It's a nice looking place. We had a bright and attentive young waitress who explained that it was still happy hour and pointed out the specials on the table tent. Although there were a few nice looking specials, we were both in the mood for Po' Boys. We ordered a shrimp and oyster Po' Boy and got fries (which the waitress told us were great) and a side salad as the two sides, planning on sharing everything as we usually do. The sandwiches came. They were on freshly toasted bread that seemed light and tasted pretty good. Unfortunately we found both the oysters and shrimp not very tasty. The breading was very salty and perhaps a bit too spicy. The oysters were crumbly had little flavor, the shrimp although decent size, didn't taste very good either. We were disappointed and although we ate most of the shrimp and oysters, we both took of the last bits of bread. The salad with a lemon coconut dressing was fresh but un-notable, we could barely taste the dressing. The fries were excellent though. Hot and crisp with a light coating that made them just about perfect. It was a bit disappointing. Best laid plans on Valentine's Day, when you have two elderly dogs, a four year old, and you're both working till 5:30pm buried in TPS reports (some of you will get that reference) go about as smooth as looking for a place to eat on Christmas Day in the middle of a snow storm. We've walked into to Oasthouse without a reservation before but this time they were booked with a 1.5 hour wait. This is where I'll remind you that some of the best meals of my life were after a location audible. I was really not expecting to be this impressed. It started with a manager walking by the hostess' stand and, despite requiring a reservation and not having any open she asked, "I got a table that has a reservation for one hour and thirty minutes from now, can you finish in that time?" What do you think? Then the waiter. The guy had passion, I mean real passion, for the food. He seemed to have intimate knowledge of every single plate. This is one of those, "Find a job you love..." situations and he was excellent. The fried calamari was crispy, crunchy and salty to our liking. The kiddo's fish and chips was impressively scarfed down. My skirt steak was just so well done (as in executed, not over-cooked) and the crispy smashed potatoes over aioli were perfect balance for the meat. Add some crispy brussel sprouts and the wife's scallops and...let me tell you... Not one bad bite. I'm not exaggerating. Five out of five. read more

This restaurant is owned by 2 brothers from Iran who are smart enough to hire exceptional people as employees. We've been going here since they opened and have experienced their growing pains along with them. They've recently remodeled the place to accommodate private events and the results are intriguing. We highly recommend requesting both Megan and Tegan as servers/wait staff whether you book a private party or simply enjoy a booth or table during dinner or happy hour. Those two ladies are spectacular and know how to treat their customers with respect and grace. In a time when good customer service is a dying breed, these two ladies shine with brilliance. Seriously, request them. They are worth it. By the way, the top menu items are: (1.) the Baja tacos, (2). The grilled redfish with mushroom risotto, and (3.) the brussel sprouts appetizer. Keith is the manager and he is very receptive to comments from customers. We felt very welcomed and appreciated at a place that happens to serve fantastic food. read more

Disappointing and painfully mediocre at best. Went for happy hour and sat at the bar with a friend. The atmosphere was very nice, with a little fire going, and we were hopeful. First came the drinks, they were basically water with spices on the rim. No flavor, no alcohol that we could taste (in 2 different drinks), and $12 a pop? (Maybe there was a happy hour discount, but no excuse for a glass of colored water with colored salt on the rim). Next, we ordered the calamari, it was not even warm, mushy not crispy, with none of the real squid parts that we requested, even though they advertise that type of calamari in the promos (we mentioned this to our server and got some lame explanation of the squid parts not being in their delivery that day). The ceviche was the same temperature, lukewarm when it should be chilled, no flavor or lime juice or pico, and it was served with broken tortilla chips, then the crispy mushrooms, which were ok, but again, barely warm, not crispy, and not very many of them. Appetizers...3 strikes. These are NOT $17 (each) appetizers. We shared the $30 cornmeal-crusted Redfish, that was plopped on top of the grits, again barely lukewarmish, and mushy. (Put the grits on the side at least so the 'crust' doesn't turn to mush. This should be pretty basic?). And the service (lack of) was surprising, as we were at the bar. I know the hospitality industry is still recovering, and Austin is landlocked, but we should be able to do better with seafood and service in this town. I don't usually write reviews, but enough is enough with the overpriced mediocre restaurant scene in Austin. Sadly, this place is not a Keeper. read more

Man, I really wanted this place to succeed, considering we don't have a lot of seafood options in South Austin. We came here when it first opened and although service was slow, we gave a lot of grace because they were new. Unfortunately, nothing has changed. We waited a solid 20 minutes for our first cocktail and not only was the restaurant was not busy, but it was supposed to be a Paloma and it just tasted like a water down drink mix. We couldn't even tell which one was mezcal and which one was tequila. The server apologized. We wanted something else. We both tried to order something completely different and we told each of those drinks were already sold out. So, we decided not to order anything else for drinks. On top of that we had ordered two sushi rolls as an appetizer. We waited a solid 35 minutes just for the two sushi rolls and at that point decided not to order anything else because we had somewhere else to be and didn't have time to wait for more food. When we finally got sushi, we had to ask for chopsticks and soy sauce to eat. The waiter was nice enough but made a joke about how it was his second day and he was still trying to figure out what he was supposed to deliver with the sushi rolls. Overall there is no sense of urgency at all in this place and the whole experience became laughable it was so bad. I'll be surprised if they're still in business in a year. read more

What a wonderfully delicious gem! I'm so glad we decided to go here. We went on a Saturday evening around 7pm. Not crowded at all and ample parking. We started with the Port A Fries that were extremely delicious. Highly recommend. My husband got the Bayou Plate. It was fresh from the oven and tasted amazing. The red beans and rice was sooo good. I'm not a fish eater, so I didn't try his fish but he enjoyed it greatly. I got the shrimp tacos with added avocado. I would get these again. I only ate one taco the with everyone, the rest I just ate the inside out (trying to lose weight and not eat a lot of carbs, lol). The dirty was was really good. I would just eat that small day, lol! The place is really cute and so is the ambience there. I do have to say though that when it came to sundown, the sun was kind of blasting through the windows a lot and there is nothing to be able to cover them so you kinda just have to sit there with the sun in your eyes. I understand they're new you, so these are just things that they can fix. The staff was really nice but they were short staffed because it did take quite a while to get someone to come Ask us what we want to drink to start with. I have to say the fried green tomatoes were delicious. The crispy wild mushrooms totally not worth it. They were super thin and barely any. The calamari was mediocre to me. The oysters were very good. I also ordered the steak and I was sadly disappointed. It was cold and no flavor to it. Our waitress was very nice and but failed to turn in our bar order. After a 20 minute wait we finally flagged down our waitress and she apologized for the error and placed our bar order and food order. Everything was promptly delivered. My shrimp was good but rather small. My salad was good but had the wrong dressing on it. My husband wasn't impressed with his fried fish dish. Don't plan to return here. read more

Wasn't a fan of $144 tab for three. 6 oysters on the half shell. Seafood dip and 1-1/2 pounds (must have weighed it with the metal serving plate it's served on) of snow crab boil. Oysters are east coast so they were smaller than a half dollar. Crab was over "boiled", that the meat stuck to the shell, making it difficult to remove the meat. If you got the money to waste on seafood, try the other places. Those that have bigger oysters and a better tasting boil. I should have have left at the $3.50 12oz tea. read more

We also had the gumbo and I was not a fan. My grandma was French-Cajun and I've been to Nola and back more times then I can count so I can tell you it's not a traditional gumbo. Im not saying it was bad at all, I just wasn't expecting the flavor to be so tomato forward. I would describe it as a "seafood chili" (it was red) and let me say it was LOADED with seafood and a ton of giant oysters. No lack of flavor but I would say closer to a curry or a stew because it missed the depth of a traditional roux. Obviously I don't know the recipe used but I felt like it was entirely possible that tomato paste was used to thicken because of the color and acidity. We had the chocolate pie for dessert and it was absolutely delicious! I don't normally order dessert but it was the best thing we ate all night, so indulgent and complex with chocolate and cinnamon and a sea salt chocolate crust- yum! Overall it was a great experience- I love the vibe and the staff and everything was spotlessly clean. We will be back and I'm betting that if I order a differently I may give another star. read more

We stopped off here to try this place out. We sat on the patio, everything looks nice. We used the QR code to order, they do tell you at the door you can have a waiter come by and take your order. The on line ordering was a pain to get through. so if you want a pretty good place for Happy Hour, sure this is it. We were looking for a nice dinner. I thought the quality of the food was similar to a fast food place like Popeyes. When the manager asked how everything was, I said you have a nice place for Happy Hour. I told him the best thing about the dish I had was the rice. He was nice enough and tried to explain they are trying to position this place as a nice seafood restaurant.
