It's a really cute spot in Fountain Valley, and they're serving everything up and down the gamut of coffee, from Vietnamese to some of these! Walking into the shop, you're greeted with a dark gray concrete vibe with plenty of matching decor. They've got some multiroaster vibes too, which means they're slinging beans like Dak, La Cabra, and more! Robusta and Arabica heads can both rejoice! They've also got a nice little patio to just rest and relax at while you enjoy your drinks. I've had a few pretty deep conversations coming out of this place. Okay, even though I did come to a coffee shop, I did end up getting a hojicha latte that was roasty, nutty, and delicious alongside the vanilla notes that they add. Great choice for some of you who don't do so well with caffeine. It's easy to drink, and thoughtfully prepared! I got something a little different. It was a strawberry co-ferment espresso in a cappuccino ratio. You could really taste that strawberry come through, and having it hot and with milk was a perfect choice. Fruity, complex, and funky! Love to see places serving co-ferments. I don't think it's over-played in specialty coffee, and I do appreciate having the option! I had this place booked marked since I don't remember when and just happened to get lunch nearby at the recently opened An the Essence restaurant while visiting OC so came here for a post lunchie caffeine pick-me-up. I really wish I had had the same experience that others have clearly had at Re Ca Phe. I visited on a Saturday morning to get coffee for the whole fam. The line was decently long and most of the seating was taken. In total, I ordered 7 drinks: 2 matchas, 2 Vietnamese coffees, a latte, a shakerato, and a pour over. Certain drinks were not able to be adjusted to preference. My boyfriend's pour over was $10. We waited a few extra minutes for it (not a problem, it was busy and we had a lot of drinks). If I'm paying $10 for a coffee that you won't even add a splash of milk to, I at least expect it to be full?? Normally my favorite matcha place in all of OC. But I was a little disappointed this last visit. Matcha was not as smooth, a little bitter and a darker green.
