My friend and I stopped by here after lunch on a Saturday and it was pretty packed! I was very excited to try their matcha as I saw on the menu they have Earl Grey Matcha! IYKYK, if a place makes an earl grey matcha right, it is so heavenly good! Als that's what I got and my friend got something like a Yuzu matcha refresher. My Earl Grey Matcha came out with a thick cold foam on top with some lavender topping.. hmm... First sip, all I tasted was the thick cold foam on top and the lavender.. which was disappointing. When I ordered it, I asked the barista if their EGM means they use EG syrup, and she said yes, didn't mention that they actually put coal foam on top, which, I'm not a big fan. The EG flavor cold foam was pretty thick with vanilla flavor also, then the lavender on top, makes it very creamy and flowery and since I did not drink it with a straw, I mixed my drink, which is something you should do anyway, which, made my matcha wayyy too milky. I did not like that. I got my matcha with oatmilk and the dairy cold foam made it super milky, overall, I did not enjoy it that much. I'm a matcha lover and the cold foam and vanilla and lavender masked all the matcha taste and made it into such a thick milk based flavored tea drink.. not a fan. My friend's Yuzu matcha refresher though was very refreshing, but it was too sour for both of our taste. The more we drank it, the more confused our brain got... Is it a lemonade? is it Yuzu-nade? It was not really matcha-nade... Overall, it was so so. Maybe our fault was that we did not order coffee, since the name implies lounging with coffee.. Maybe next time. Re Ca Phe seemed like a promising coffee shop to get my caffeine fix. Unfortunately, it completely missed my expectations. It's located in a plaza with other businesses. I went around 12:30 pm and it was a packed lot. The store itself was too busy and felt cramped. The space seems suitable for smaller groups. At the time, there was a line before you could order. It took almost 10 minutes for the order to be ready. American Express is accepted here. Sea Salt Coffee: This was on the signature section so I had big expectations for it. It was a very small drink (9 oz). It was slightly salted, tasted bitter, and wasn't sweet despite having condensed milk as an ingredient. It wasn't good. Canale: Despite having to wait for the drink, I needed to wait longer for this because the staff forgot to put it in the order. I needed to wait for them to prepare it in the back and also go back to the counter to charge for it. All to wait for something that was mushy. Coffee Beans: I saw there were coffee beans from Glitch in Japan. It was a brand that I loved there so I wanted to give it a try. I don't usually like fruity notes but this was really delicious. Re Ca Phe specializes in Vietnamese Coffee. "Re" depending on content usually means slow or slowly. I personally see it as a negative growing up. After multiple visits, I would say that Re Ca Phe tends to be a hit or miss. I've ordered their Earl Grey Matcha, Hojicha Latte w/ extra Hojicha, Marble Coffee and Blueberry Orange Tea. I would say the best drink I had was their Marble Coffee. But I love the ambience and I can see myself coming back to study! It's relatively quiet in there so it sets the mood. I was disappointed with the matcha here considering how popular this coffee shop is. I got the Black Sesame Matcha and it was pretty mid. There wasn't much matcha flavor and volume. It was pretty milky. The black sesame flavor was good and nutty. However, I wasn't a fan of the large grainy bits in the drink. The drinks are also on the pricier side, similar to what you would see in LA which doesn't really match the area and other nearby coffee shops. They have indoor and outdoor seating and a bathroom available. For parking, there's a good amount of free parking in the lot. I think this cafe is known more for their coffees and I would get that next time, but I wouldn't recommend their matcha. read more

The café itself has both indoor and outdoor seating, and the whole space feels cozy and aesthetic, making it such a nice place to just sit and take in the atmosphere. The workers are really nice and welcoming, which made the experience even better. I tried their Earl Grey Matcha Latte, and it's honestly one of the best I've had. Not many places offer this combination, so whenever I see it on a menu, I have to try it. What I really liked about this one is how well balanced it is. The earl grey is light enough that it doesn't overpower the matcha, so you can actually taste both flavors clearly without one taking over the other. The Hojicha Vanilla Cream Latte was also really good. The cream on top was silky, smooth, and rich, adding a nice layer of sweetness that paired well with the roasted, nutty flavor of the hojicha. This is my favorite coffee shop in OC. I have been going here during lunch and occassional pick me up in the AM for the past 2 years. I'd say they take specialty coffee shops to next level when it comes to coffee bean profiles and selection. They just added their avocado chilli toast to the menu and it was delicious. The chilli keeps the authenticity of asian influence into the toast with a nice kick. They said its only going to get better and I already thought it was already Amazing. Very cute, spacious, clean cut coffee place in FV. Right on the corner upon entrance to the plaza therefore they have corner view of 2 sides and plenty of parking spaces surrounding the place. The line was decently long and most of the seating was taken. In total, I ordered 7 drinks: 2 matchas, 2 Vietnamese coffees, a latte, a shakerato, and a pour over. Certain drinks were not able to be adjusted to preference. My boyfriend's pour over was $10. We waited a few extra minutes for it (not a problem, it was busy and we had a lot of drinks). By the time he took his first sip, his whole face just dropped. The coffee itself looked like tea and the cup was not even 60% full!! If I'm paying $10 for a coffee that you won't even add a splash of milk to, I at least expect it to be full?? He went back inside to ask about it and the barista very condescendingly told him that's the proper way to do a pour over. Family said the matcha was grainy and the Vietnamese coffee was tiny. It must be my lucky day, because we're stopping by Re Ca Phe! It's a really cute spot in Fountain Valley, and they're serving everything up and down the gamut of coffee, from Vietnamese to some of these! Walking into the shop, you're greeted with a dark gray concrete vibe with plenty of matching decor. They've got some multiroaster vibes too, which means they're slinging beans like Dak, La Cabra, and more! Robusta and Arabica heads can both rejoice! They've also got a nice little patio to just rest and relax at while you enjoy your drinks. I've had a few pretty deep conversations coming out of this place. Okay, even though I did come to a coffee shop, I did end up getting a hojicha latte that was roasty, nutty, and delicious alongside the vanilla notes that they add. Great choice for some of you who don't do so well with caffeine. It's easy to drink, and thoughtfully prepared! I got something a little different. It was a strawberry co-ferment espresso in a cappuccino ratio. You could really taste that strawberry come through, and having it hot and with milk was a perfect choice. Fruity, complex, and funky! Love to see places serving co-ferments. I don't think it's over-played in specialty coffee, and I do appreciate having the option! The menu offers a fair selection of both matcha and coffee options as well as some coffee beans and matcha tins for sale. The interior is cozy and intimate. The Matchiato was ordered with reduced sugar so the flavor came through strongly. I enjoyed the earthy flavor and the nice mouthfeel. It had a pretty strong briskness left in my mouth afterwards. For once I wanted something sweet to down this very delicious drink. I wouldn't mind returning again in the future as the location is convenient and my drink was well crafted. This being my first time there, I wasn't sure what to expect. As I walked in the Vibe was really nice with good music. I liked it because it wasn't really packed like other places or you can't even relax. There's plenty of space to relax in door and out. The drinks all looked really good, we had the 8 ounce sesame seed latte and the Earl Grey latty, which is one of my favorites latty. They were so kind enough to use my own glass cup when asked. The baristas were all very pleasant when we ask them questions about the drinks. The coffee shop itself is very cute decor with light colors making it feel very airy. They do offer a reward system so when you go, don't forget to check in to accumulate your points. As far as parking, there is plenty. The prices are average. I definitely wanna go back and try their blueberry latte. It sounds delicious. So if you are in fountain Valley, come and check them out. read more
