Brew Story is a solid spot, but I wouldn't say anything I had was particularly mind-blowing. The matcha was decent, although the drinks overall leaned a little too sweet for my taste and felt somewhat basic and underwhelming. I originally wanted to try the Brown Sugar Coffee Latte, but they were out of brown sugar, so I ended up going with the Spanish Latte instead. It was fine, just nothing that really stood out or made me think, "I need to come back for this." The tuna sandwich was probably the highlight. It was good, fresh, and enjoyable, but again, not exactly something I'd be thinking about afterward. Overall, Brew Story is a perfectly decent place to grab a drink and a bite, but I think there's room for the menu to be a little more creative and memorable. 4 stars feels right good, but not quite great. I was disappointed with my first visit to Brew Story - especially since people seem to rave about it. Brew Story is located in a plaza in Huntington Beach. It is quite packed inside. The atmosphere is modern and sleek. I ordered the earl grey matcha, one of their spring specials. My sister got the sweet corn latte. Understandably, due to the crowd, there was a bit of a wait. When they finally called my name, I only received the earl grey matcha. I figured they were still working on the sweet corn latte and decided to try my drink first. To be honest, it was nasty. I did not like this drink. I think it's the earl grey syrup. It tasted very artificial and had an unpleasant aftertaste. 20 minutes passed with no sign of the sweet corn latte. Eventually, I went to check in with the staff about our missing drink, and they just made it on the spot. I was especially irritated because the staff was making small talk with customers that seemed to be their friends. I don't think that sort of lollygagging is appropriate when there are customers such as myself who were missing drinks from their orders. Perhaps if the staff stayed focus on their jobs during their shifts instead of chit chatting with customers, they would not be forgetting drinks from orders. The sweet corn latte was ok. I did like how there were specks of ground corn in the drink, which made it seem like they used real corn instead of artificial flavoring. Very very interesting place. My husband and I were invited by one of our kids for an after lunch coffee and the place is packed with young adults! As in packed and chattering..you have to speak loudly to hear each other. :) Nothing very spectacular with the place but it's obviously popular for a reason. The Banana Cream Latte and Banana Cream Matcha are so delicious. It's the number one item the baristas recommend and it's truly worth it. The banana flavor comes through so nicely and the coffee itself is not too sweet so the drink is nicely balanced. I'm not a matcha fan myself, but I really liked the matcha version of this drink (slightly better than the coffee actually!) because the matcha is so smooth. My sister got the Earl Grey Matcha and it was also very tasty and smooth. The service is excellent. It gets busy with students, but you'll get your drink pretty quickly. Seating can be limited, especially for groups. We came during the week around 3pm and the seating was a bit full, but we managed to get a table for us three. New favorite cafe in OC! Tbh that says a lot in OC because one thing we have no shortage of here are aesthetic cafes with craft coffee and good vibes. But, Brew Story stands out for a few reasons: 1. Parking is easy and free in this strip mall. For me, this is a huge perk. 2. The variety is incredible, they have everything from a cookie butter latte to strawberry shortcake matcha and black sesame soft top. There's just so many options here that even if I always want to get the black sesame soft top matcha (which I do) there's always something new to try. 3. Lots of seating! Why do some places have like 1-2 tables? I want to sit and relax or do work and stay a while (and btw will order another drink while I do so)! There's a long table here for big groups, a few smaller ones, a more loungey area and a counter with bar stools. The one thing you might not love about this spot if you're used to a quick mobile order and pick up with no wait coffee situation is that it is a bit of a wait. Sunday morning rush and they have people training so drinks taking 20 mins and to top it off they messed up at least 3 orders including mine. We stopped here for breakfast and coffee, and while the food options were limited, the ambiance is really what stands out here. The space has a cool, laid-back vibe, modern, cozy, and very "local coffee shop" energy. That said, when we arrived around 9:30am, they were pretty much out of most breakfast items. There were only a few pastries left, so my friend ended up ordering a turkey sandwich instead which, to be fair, was huge! First review of 2026! It's time to finally share my favorite matcha spot in all of OC (atm). While the first few visits were for their coffee drinks, it wasn't until they brought in the MAMA Latte that we started getting addicted. The drink is quite pricey, but it's one of the best matcha drinks I've personally had. It packs a punch of flavor, but is also smooth and creamy at the same time. Tried Brew Story for the first time! It's located in a small plaza with other shops, parking can get full and limited. The inside was simple and clean with organic furniture and aesthetic. I came on a Saturday around noon so it was pretty busy with a long line to order and then a separate line to pick up your drink, since seating was full. It can be a a nice place to study if you have headphones. They have group tables and bar style seating. Brew Story's matcha never disappoints. Nice balance of umami and astringency. I tried this place twice and each time, I was sadly disappointed. The first time I came here, I ordered the corn coffee. I was soooo excited because I love the taste of corn milk with coffee and it's not often sold at coffee shops. Based on taste, it's average, not the best but not the worst when it comes to balancing the sweet subtle flavor or corn and the intense bitterness that comes from coffee. I was actually quite surprised how much better the taste was than expected. It does lean a little bitter if you are one who likes your beverages very sweet. It was pretty busy when we went in and it's loud because the sound bounces off the concrete so it was like a cafeteria and the music was pretty loud as well.
