I needed some touch up paint, hoping to use the original can for a match. It's over 20 years old, so the paint inside was useless. There were some drips of paint on the outside label so I thought I would see if that was enough for a color match. I didn't want to take a square off the wall itself, if I could avoid it. I went to Benjamin Moore first because that was the brand. I was told they take 24 hours to color match and I probably didn't have enough of a sample on the can's label. Perfectly pleasant sales associate, but I didn't want to wait a day. I decided to go to my local Lafayette Kelly Moore. I've got to tell you that the manager, Renee, was so nice! I asked her how long a color match would take and she said since there were a couple of jobs ahead of me, it would be 2 hours. Not bad! I showed her my sorry can of paint and she confirmed that it wasn't enough of a sample to color match. I told her I was just going to pick a match from their sample wall. Before I could take a step, Renee volunteered to take a scan for me and see if she came up with anything. In just a minute she had a computer suggested match. I was so glad! I was walking out of the store within 10 minutes with a fresh gallon of Kelly Moore and it looked perfect on my wall. I really appreciated Renee's knowledge and patience. She was very proactive in assisting me for just one little can of paint. read more

I had a really negative experience in this store today. I simply wanted a small can of touch up interior paint of a color I purchased here a few years ago. First they said it was impossible for various reasons and told me to try driving out to Pleasanton(!) where they maybe could help. Then they offered a substitute but it would only be available in a gallon size of exterior paint that cost more than $80. The staff were both very unhelpful and clearly couldn't care less about my very simple request. I've been coming to this store for over a decade and I had no issues with any of the previous store managers or employees but ever since Renee the new store manager arrived somehow I feel like she's got something personal going on with me. I've noticed when other clients walk into the store she greets them with a smile but when I walk in she's got this long face and an attitude. I'm disappointed that my business are not welcome at this store anymore, I would be traveling to the nearest Kelly Moore in Walnut Creek for now on. read more

The store is really just a conduit for procuring excellent Kelly-Moore paint. It's not particularly customer-friendly, and they lack modern conveniences like Apple Pay. They do, however, have Dura-Poxy. Once you paint a wall with that buttery magic that is Dura-Poxy, there's no going back to other paint brands. read more

It's worth it to drive to the location in Walnut Creek just to avoid rude people who work at the Lafayette location. I came in on a Saturday afternoon and was the only person in the store. When asked what color I was looking for I said "taupe." The rep told me they didn't have that color. I showed him a color scheme and began looking through all the taupe color samples. I found two paint samples with taupe in the name: Tranquil Taupe and Teddy's Taupe. When I showed him, he told me it "wasn't the color I wanted." Then he asked me a bunch of questions to try to make me feel stupid. I answered them all with ease and said that I knew what I wanted, what I'm doing and don't need his help. He called me "girl" even though I'm a 34 year old pregnant woman. I just left. And won't be coming back. read more

I have been a customer of Kelly Moore for 25+ years and have been doing business with the Lafayette store for 5+And I will tell you I will not be coming back to this store to do any business with James. I don't believe you are suppose to write down someone's credit card information on a piece of paper to do a authorization for a credit card. If I would if known I would of asked to speak to someone else but luckily my client informed me about it. Very unprofessional. I've been doing business with Kelly Moore for decades. This location is poorly ran, understaffed and most of the sales associates have an attitude problem and don't know how to pick up the pace when the line is literally out the door. I've been in there a dozen times in the past month and had to turn around and walk out after realizing I would be waiting for over an hour at the pace the small line of people was moving. Even though my projects are in the Lamorinda area, it's much faster to drive to Walnut Creek or Pleasant hill. Both of those locations have decent service and great staff. It's very sad to see something with so much potential failing miserably. It wouldn't take much effort to make that store a great success. First step would be to "care", obviously the manager of that store doesn't. Sad read more

I'm so impressed with their products and knowledgeable guidance! I've painted 50+ rooms. I always buy the "one coat" paint. It never covers in one coat, not ever! But, Kelly Moore paint covered semi-gloss dark paper-bag-brown in just ONE coat! I also bought a roller and a paint brush. Not a single drip, and not a hair came out of that brush! There was an obvious defect in a product I'd bought and used one time. Without a receipt, but with a calm and reasoned explanation, I pointed out the defect to the manager. Applying a heavy dose of common sense to insure a satisfactory customer experience, the manager agreed to an even exchange for a new non defective product. I was prepared for a negative experience, but was very pleasantly surprised to receive the customer friendly gesture offered by the manager. Besides the excellent quality paint at reasonable prices, I have been very impressed with the customer service at this store. Over the last week, I have been here multiple times, getting many samples for the several rooms I was having painted in my house. Unfailingly, all of the guys in the store were very helpful, polite and knowledgeable. Also, this store is well organized and tidy. In contrast, I went to the WC store of Benjamin Moore and it was crowded, messy and the people were very brusque and did not have a welcoming attitude. Good customer service. I bought a gallon of the wrong paint, half customer error, and they replaced it with the correct paint at no charge.

This store is great. It is convenient, open on weekends (including Sundays!) and the guys who work there are really nice. Kelly Moore paints have improved in quality as have their colors which were their biggest drawback before. read more
