I haven't been here in years so things may have changes, but it doesn't seem like it. I moved to Boston in 1991 from NYC where I don't remember there being a phenomenon of roast beef shops. When I got here, all I kept hearing about was you gotta go to Kelly's. It's amazing. Can't go wrong. .... It took me a few years but I finally got there and of course, had to get the roast beef sandwich. All I remember thinking is if locals think this is the best roast beef sandwich they ever had, then the locals and I were never going to agree on anything food wise. Visiting from sunny Florida. Came for the seafood. Ordered the scallop plate and shrimp plate. Both came with fries and onion rings. Shrimps were one of the best fried shrimps I've had, scallops, very fresh and not too battered. Fries and onions rings were ok, but I didn't eat until 30 min. later, so there's that. Wasn't crazy about the batter used for the onion rings, tasted very floury. Wanted clam chowder but wasn't sure if I'd finish all that food. Location can not be any better, across from the beach, I am sure this is a hot spot in the summer months. Looking forward to coming again! read more

We love Kelly's! My wife and I lived in MA for many years but have lived in Texas for many years now. Every time we come back for a visit to Boston we go directly to Kellys on Revere Beach or New Deal Deli for a sub. Even though their prices have gone up over the years as they do Kelly's is always a favorite. You can't go wrong with anything on their menu. My husband & I were originally from Mass. We went to Kelly"s in Sarasota on 12/23/22 & extremely disappointed. The scallops were small & previously frozen ( watery inside ), The clams bellies were tiny with lots of breading, The fried shrimp was lots of breading & small, the chowder was watery. The only good part of the meal was the roast beef sandwich. The help was very friendly & courteous. We drove 2 hours from SW Florida & thought we were going to relive out New England roots We will Not be going back. read more

This chain does not know how to train its cooks the Saugus location cannot cook fish they don't know what well done is I've been coming here for years today I tried The new location in Salem Nh ask for well done fries and we'll done chicken fingers i wait in the drive thru for 19 mins after placing the order I get soggy fries and not fully cooked fingers I will no longer give any money to this company in fact I emailed Corp offering to teach the cooks how to cook well done Take you money to other places if this place doesn't care about feedback and try to correct things they don't deserve my money read more

Roast beef at Kelly's is Amazing not salty and not sweet absolutely perfect. Ask for gluten free and they have a roll that is gluten free. Asked the cashier how it is normally eaten and advised with mayo and cheese. Cashier was absolutely correct on how to eat the sandwich. NOT at Revere beach General manager showed attitude after I showed the manager of 6 large sandwiches was medium well meat after I requested for red meat (rare) General manager only replaced 1 sandwich and refused replace all 6 sandwiches or give money back I had to call the corporate office :Dan Doherty..then again another person..he gave me attitude with a spit in the face and said he spoke with John Barry the general manager before speaking with me. Five stars for lobster roll and roast beef sandwiches! I have been coming here since 2011 when I met my husband, a New England native. Our favorites are Kelly's staple sandwiches - the lobster roll and roast beef. I personally get the lobster roll and it is absolutely worth every penny and frequent flyer mile. You get about a whole lobster's worth of meat and each bite is succulent and buttery. My mouth is watering as I type. The bread is lightly toasted and really just holds the lobster meat; I could barely taste it and the sandwich is really all about the lobster. Get anything else on the menu and you will be disappointed. The fries are a little soggy and so is the fried fish. For some reason the Mac and cheese seem dry too and a fellow toddler/ aka "Mac and cheese expert" just took one bite! You can't beat the view of Revere Beach either! read more

Based in the film with Robin Williams it was on my list of places to try along with a walk down the beach. After a long night of work, I was starving and was running out of options for something decent to eat. I decided to stop by the Kelly's Roast Beef down Revere Beach to grab something to go. I bought a combo roast beef 3 way, and lobster roll with onion rings. I drove it home and got comfy in my pj's. When I finally sat down to eat, I opened up the box and took a bite of my roast beef sandwich. To my surprise, something was VERY chewy within that first bite. I then spit it out and noticed a white plastic shredded piece of something. Further inspection of the sandwich I noticed all white pieces of "styrofoam" throughout the whole thing. I almost puked. I am not one to complain about food but this was UNACCEPTABLE. Because they were closing up and I was exhausted, I brought the uneaten plastic filled food back the next day. I even made the young manager Anthony bring me inside so that the line of customers didn't see or hear my complaint. The manager apologized and agreed he wouldn't eat the food either. Took my receipt and said he would get me a refund. A week later I call back to ask about the refund since I never received a call back like promised and the manager explained that they couldn't refund my $20 for the food, that they will only send me a gift card. I visit Kelly's from time to time. Sometimes you just don't feel like cooking and Kelly's is quick, easy, and always good. Although they are known for their roast beef, (which is delicious) I want to take a second to highlight another one of my faves, which is their chili. It's seasonal so you can only get it in the winter months, but it's awesome. It's a bit spicy but the shredded beef and thick consistency just warms a cold body. Add a little cheddar and sour cream, and I'm in heaven. Kelly's is great way to grab a sandwich and enjoy the beach. But DEFINITELY watch out for the seagulls. They are vicious. One of those jerks swooped down and grabbed my roast beef sandwich right out of my hands. I now eat next to the restaurant and walk across the street when I have no food for them to steal. read more

Stopping by Kelly's is a staple when I fly into the Boston area. I simply cannot resist fried seafood to start my visit off properly. My dad grew up in this area & has been taking me to Kelly's since I was little, so I suppose it has some sentimental value as well. I'm a sucker for the scallop plate, which is piled high with large, juicy scallops, onion rings, and a ton of french fries. Hello, heart attack on a plate! The batter on the scallops isn't too heavy, so you still get the seafood flavor. The tartar sauce isn't half bad, either, but I could it all plain. Service here is quick, but not very personable. Eh, it'd bother me more, though I'm really only interested in the food anyway. It isn't particularly cheap (my scallop plate runs me nearly $16), but it's worth the cash. I usually grab my food & head across the street to Revere Beach to do some people watching. If it's too cold, I'll just stay in the car. Either way, I end up tossing the majority of my french fries to the seagulls, who don't appear to be hurting for food. I'm not big on fried food, but when I make my way to the east coast, Kelly's is a must. For me, there's nothing like grabbing some yummy seafood & hanging out near the beach. read more

My wife and I went to Kelleys on the beach last night! We ordered a fishermans mans platter and i specifically asked for my food to be cooked lightly. I made the statement 4 times to cook them lightly! I paid the bill and walked away from the window to wait for my order. My wife asked what the order # was. We looked at the reciept and saw the order stated well done. I immediately went to an available window and told the girl, showed her the receipt. She did not look at it and said she would take care of it. Our order was called and we picked it up and proceeded to our car which was about 15 parking spaces away. We opened our meal to find it very well done! I was so disappointed and did not even get the condiments that we asked for. Now the line was to long to bother to take it back! I can remember going to Kelly's as long as 25 years ago. Kelly's has never let us down. There usually was a group of us, we'd go there in the summer, order tons of food and eat standing around our cars. Fried clams, scallops, lobster rolls, hot dogs and hamburgers. I came here at the suggestion of one of my friends as well as the front desk staff, I ordered the lobster roll and I also ordered the roast beef sandwich with all the fixings. I ordered the onion rings, to be honest I've had better they were a little bit bland, but it only rings there's not really much flavor you can add to them anyway. Now can we talk about the roll, wow. The lobster was so buttery the mayo was just right and the flavor exploded in your mouth. I finished it within five minutes with a really crispy pickle, I save the roast beef or much later warmed it up in like 30 seconds, and it tasted like it was just fresh out of the oven the flavor was incredible. So...after seeing Kelly's on a few "Best Of" lobster roll lists, I made the schlep over on the Blue Line subway from Downtown Boston (take it all the way out to Wonderland and then it's about another 15 minute walk.) It's a beautiful Sunday afternoon in August. I must say...even from the city it was worth the trip. I ordered the lobster roll combo with a drink...it came out to $25. A little pricey but not atypical. They have some outdoor seating but the place was pretty crowded and most of the tables were taken. There is additional seating across the street by the beach which I actually preferred. A nice lobster roll...a lovely breeze from the ocean...it's a perfect New England kind of afternoon if you ask me. It might be a tourist trap but so what?! read more
