It has been a few years since I have been to Kelly's. I remember eating here starting in the 70's. Well it was as great as I remembered. Sat outside on the patio. And of course I had to order a mini Ruben. The best in the entire United States. You can't go wrong with a classic like this. Huge mound of meat, sour kraut and melted cheese. Don't forget the dressing! A must stop when down the shore. Would I eat here again? You bet! read more

No Menu items are restricted via the never ending clock. Food is portioned for the heavy and Hardy. The dim green glow from the l.e.d. Laced trayed ceiling along with indoor / outdoor seating areas offers a multipurpose habitat. Greeted warmly by the host. A true gent. Went late morning so we had three menus. Breakfast, lunch and Oktoberfest. My wife enjoyed her corn beef sandwich coleslaw on the side. This is the legendary Irish tavern of the Jersey Shore . Known by everyone within fifty miles . Don't let the exterior looks of the building deceive you . It has the best bar food and also reasonably priced . The place is known for its mini-reuben sandwich . If you are the size of a NFL linebacker you might opt for the full sized reuben sandwich . Both are a heaping pile of corned beef, smothered in cheese, on rye. I love the stuffed clams appetizer. It's a great dive bar for all your favorite Irish and American favorites . It's also the hangout spot for all the locals looking to watch the Sunday games. The place is as old as the hills. The staff are great and have been there forever. All the staff where the classic white and green collar Irish shirts . I love the mini-reuben and loaded baked potato soup, as well . I'd love to eat the mini-reuben on each visit, but it is most likely has insane amounts of calories and cholesterol . Only negative about the restaurant is it's a bit on the messy side . Restrooms aren't the cleanest or maintained that well. They always seem to have an exterior door wide open . Which often isn't a best practice if you know the restaurant biz. One more thing . If you go , no need to be dressed up. Looking like a slob is perfectly fine and eating with a knife is optional ( fork only , knifes given only upon request). Haven't been to Kelly's in over 19 years..not intentionally just not in a location that I think about going. Went early on a Saturday night in December and sat right down. Don't expect this around St Patrick's Day! Large bar, lots of TV screens, overall a typical bar. Noise level is towards the loud end, not a place for a tete a tete with a friend. Service was great, very attentive. Food was just so so. We had the sirloin beef sliders and the Hot French Dip. Pretty standard fare. The sliders were tough to bite into, very solidly formed patties. The sliced roast beef was dry and the roll was not French bread. Overall not excited about the atmosphere or the food. If you are looking for a straight up bar on the Jersey Shore, this might suit you. If you want a nicer meal with atmosphere perhaps try someplace else. read more

I've only ever been here twice, but it did not disappoint! Definitely recommend the big Rueben! It is so large my husband and I can split it. Guiness burger was fantastic, nice thick cut steak fries, and some of the best cole slaw I've ever had. They have a nice large outdoor patio with a bar and several tables which makes for more covid-friendly dining. Its behind a fence so you don't see or hear the road. Had to try the famous Kelly's reuben. I had gotten the mini Reuben after being advised that it was still enormous. Well... it was definitely mini. The large Reuben was huge, so I probably would have preferred something in between the mini and the large (medium please?). Taste- I enjoyed it and thought it was really good, but I wasn't blown away by it. I'd have to try a few other Reubens in the area (Franks Deli next time) before crowning it the best on the shore. Service- Staff was a bit impatient with us as we tried to decide whether to sit inside out outside on the patio underneath the tents. It's the middle of the summer, so we weren't sure if it'd be too hot even with the fans and tents. We ultimately decided to sit inside and service was fine after that. read more

Absolutely loved this place. We were seated in the outside tent area and it was such a great vibe. There is a bar outside, as well as live music that we enjoyed while eating. The menu had a lot to offer, everything sounded so good it was almost hard to choose! The blooming onion was so good, I also got a bacon cheeseburger which was delicious. The boyfriend shared with me a little bit of his childhood today with a afternoon trip to Kelly's. He told me stories how he used to come here with his grandparents when he was five and how the place still has the same vibe as it did back then. He indulged in a good ol pint of Smithwicks. We kicked off our hanger with the fried mushroom caps. And then splurged on the beast of the Giant Reuben. The Reuben was one for the record books. I've frequented Kelly's on several occasions in the past 10 yrs. Never been disappointed, but never blown away either. They have very good happy hour specials and free munchies. Game day specials. Kick ass St. Pat gig with more of a mature crowd then "Bar A" or the rest of Bellmar The food is reasonably priced and good but far from great. The black Russian open face sandwich is horrendous( see for yourself). They have a raw bar with all usual seafood along with sushi. Worth a pop in, but not a place to drive out of your way other then for the many specials they offer which justify the trip. read more

Kelly's is a very popular tavern, lots of friendly people (local & otherwise) with decent food & the best Bloody Mary's around. If you decide to go on New Year's, or St. Patty's Day, expect a huge crowd! It can be very loud, even with less of a crowd. In the summer they have a large outside bar. Dec 26th is officially Kelly's day for me & this year was no different. After a day of after Christmas shopping my friend & I go for lunch, & those awesome Bloody Mary's. Been doing it for 31 years now. I am never let down. This time I had the Irish potato soup & a Blarney sandwich. The Blarney had roast beef, fried onions, with horseradish mustard sauce smothered in cheddar & served on rye bread. Both were very satisfying (although the Blarney is very heavy). The Ruebens & Sligo are awesome there as well. Wash them down with a delicious Bloody Mary & you've got your four food groups! Although Kelly's seems to have morphed over the years as this legendary pub, it still has a home town feeling, which I like. Definitely worth the trip. read more

For some strange reason I never think of writing a review about Kelly's which does not mean discontent as it is one my go to places for a quick bite or perhaps just to slug down a couple of Buds on a long summer day. My favorite here is the rueben which even the mini version will not only delight you but fill you up as well. This is one of my favorite places to go for fries and chicken nuggets. Delicious food and very good service. They offer free refills unlike most of the other bars in the area. However, if you eat outside, some insects may join you. I ate in the back outdoor area, and a big spider tried to join me. The waiter quickly reacted when I told him there's a spider on the ketchup and swatted it off onto another table. It also serves very good fries that taste like McDonald's but are probably more healthier. Very good service and a great place to go overall weather it's with a family or friends. read more

Our waiter was a sweet older man and our food came out quickly, however it was not great. We ordered the nachos for an appetizer and they were delicious. The entrees were not. We both picked from the specials menu. I got the pork loin and my mom got the meatloaf. For my dish, there was sauerkraut on the sliced pork chop and it smelled horrible. The gravy tasted like it was from a can and my asparagus that came on the side was burnt, no butter or seasoning on it. I was also told my entree came with a soup or salad so I ordered the soup of the day, cream of mushroom. It didn't even taste like soup it tasted like aluminum; I had one spoonful and I didn't eat any more of it. My mom said her green beans were cold and they were definitely from a steam fresh bag. She said she did not care for the meatloaf itself much either. We both got mashed potatoes with our entree and those were good. Also as a side note, if you go in the winter months bring a jacket. It was fairly cold the night I went and it wasn't much warmer inside which was a surprise. read more
