I've been with Kemper for over 10 years and have paid them $40k My wife was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and we have a handicap child. She unfortunately was struggling and got into a car accident. Two weeks later I was rear ended. Never got into an accident or used the insurance in 10 years.... Both accidents have came back as our fault no coverage and now I'm paying $732 a month. Not to mention when I called my claims adjuster Nancy she got mad at me and hung up.. seriously horrible, horrible people and company. We will be taking further action. read more

If I could rate it, zero stars, I would give the biggest ZERO By far, worst insurance for auto. I do not recommend at all. They don't help you and keeps important things from you. Don't answer the phone and then when you do get a hold of somebody, they don't help you either. A hit-and-run incident caused by their insured driver occurred on November 1, 2024 - caught clearly on my Tesla's onboard cameras and backed by a filed police report. I reported the claim to Kemper in early February, and over six months later, my vehicle is still unrepaired and the claim is "under investigation," according to their adjuster Robyen Jean-Marie. Despite sending multiple emails and following up persistently, I've received nothing but generic copy-paste responses from Robyen stating the claim is under "coverage investigation," without any explanation of what's being reviewed or what else they could possibly need. Their appraiser, Gaylan Taylor, claims it's not their responsibility and deflects everything back to the adjuster. This entire process has been a frustrating cycle of delays, miscommunication, and zero accountability. By far the absolute WORST insurance I have ever dealt with. They have the worst customer service ever! It's just a bunch of low IQ adults that needed a job and can't do anything else. I called to cancel my policy cuz I moved and my payment went from $185 to $310! I told them I wanted to cancel and he said it would be a $25 cancellation fee. I said I'd call back so I can shop around. Went back with Geico (literally the best) and I called back to cancel my policy. First they didn't ask me for a cancellation fee then he said I'd be getting a refund of $30. I was like "okay cool the app says I owe $30" he was like "did you hear what I said it's a refund" I was like "you don't need to be rude wtf?" This car insurance company is very quick to take your payment and very helpful in regards to that, but once you start questioning charges and transactions, they brush you off real quick (comes across very rude). I'm very appreciative of their consideration in regards to my late payments, but now I don't even want to reconsider renewing. They falsely notified the department of motor vehicles of my insurance lapsing when in fact , I had new insurance within the proper time frame. Now the DMV is attempting to suspend my registration for 3 months and pay a restoration fee of $500! Kemper wont fix their screw up down to management! Poor customer service skills to say the least! When I have hard proof of my cancelation date with them and moving on to the new insurance. I didnt leave on bad terms, I paid on time, and I just needed BETTER coverage at a better rate, but even so, they had no right. What can I say about this group of robbers thieves assholes. I got into a car accident. Their client got their car fixed for 13,300 and then they sent me to a collection agency. I've never heard of that but when I lawyered up, that's when they told me to disregard the piece of paper, Client was backing up out of a driveway went across two lanes across a double yellow and that's when I hit her so what happens Kemper doesn't tell me to go to any autobody shop just tell me go get it. Take it to any auto body shop so I did and since it got totaled and they decided they didn't want the car so I would have to use whatever money I got from her shitty policy Pay for that to get out I don't have to sign my truck. I had to work with this company due to their insured driver rear ending me on the highway. They shorted the repair shop which I had to pay out of pocket. They shorted my reimbursement of the rental car I had to get, they claim it was because the repair shop took too long to reply to their emails. They are extremely slow to reply themselves if they do reply at all, I had to get state government involved to get any decent communication with them. read more

Though the other driver hit me while trying to pass the red light, they claimed that it was the other way around. They sent me letters pretending that I was avoiding them even though I spoke to them. 1st incident. Another bad review....what a coincidence. A couple of years ago I had this company and I got into a car accident and I called and filed a claim. I spent 1 year reaching out to my adjuster and the company and never got in contact with anyone and they never returned my calls. I finally decided to make a complaint with the city which oversees insurance companies and within a week a kemper representative called me told me that the city contracted them and said that they "had been trying to reach me" I told them that it was a lie and the only reason they called me was because the city put pressure on them to resolve the issue. 2nd incident. I recently called kemper on 4/2/24 and got insurance through them again as they were my only option at the time. I spoke to a sales representative and he told me the price for 6 months and I told him multiple times that I wanted to pay for the full amount for the 6 months. I made it very clear that I wanted to pay the full balance and he also acknowledged that he was going to charge the full 6 months. But he did not charge the full 6 months he only charged 1 month and put me on a payment plan. Since I thought I paid for the full 6 months I didn't know that a payment was due the next month so they cancelled my insurance but they charged me $105 dollars for a 15 day grace period. It wasn't until I got a letter from collections for the $105 and a letter from the dmv stating that they were going to cancel my registration for not having insurance that I realized what was going on. I thought I had insurance so I reached out to the dmv but they informed me I did not have insurance. I then called kemper and they were rude, angry, and defensive every time I called and they said it was not their fault that it was all my fault because I should have checked my statements seeing that I only got charged the first month. I told them I didn't think I had to check my statement because I trusted the sales representative to do his job. They said it was all my fault and that there was nothing they could do but transfer me to sales to get a new policy. I asked them to review the phone call and they said they don't record their calls so that there was nothing they could do. I told them I wanted to make a complaint with the original sales person and I asked for a copy of the complaint they said they do not provide that information. So I got so screwed by them, I got left with no insurance, no registration, and I was sent to collections for the $105 which I had to pay so I will not be in collections since I own a home and have perfect credit score I didn't want anything bad on my record.
