My roll had several things that weren't listed in the ingredients. I ordered the Rock & Roll which listed "Shrimp tempura, avocado, on top with crabmeat, eel sauce, and spicy mayo". The roll also had cucumbers (in fairly large and multiple pieces), roe, and chives. All things I'm not really a fan of personally. So I got a roll of 10 pieces that wasnt quite what it listed it was for $16. I'm sad but it's definitely something other people would like. I'll try something else next time. read more

This is one of my favorite delivery sushi places. They're lightning fast, and the sushi is pretty darn good. A nice variety of options, they also have some hot food. It's not a restaurant, it's a food truck located outside the flipside bar, but the amount of times I've gone (about 15+ times) it's NEVER missed!! maybe once.. but like..I was just trying new stuff and it wasn't sushi lol. ANYWAYS, sushi is affordable, big sizes and it taste great every time! I always order the same thing and they are -the Tokyo roll: bomb get it, 10/10 - salmon skin roll: crispy crunchy, recommend as well 10/10 -salmon roll: not only affordable but the size is great and it would fill me up. 10/10 -the ocean roll: my bf gets this, still very solid if you like shrimp tempura. 10/10 -Kenbu panini: if you want some different and crispy, I'd recommend this. Other than sushi, we also ordered Pork Miso Soup with Ramen noodles and it came unspilled. The noodles were separated from the soup appropriately so. Among the Rainbow Roll, Ocean Roll and Volcano Roll, my kids and I loved the Volcano Roll. We didn't really care about Rainbow Roll and Ocean Roll. I wish I had picked something else. I ordered: -Spicy crispy chicken ($14) - the chicken was crispy perfection and the sauce used on top had the perfect spice level for me. I wanna rate this place higher, I want small food carts to do well, but I'm here to give honest reviews, and in all honesty... the food here is really just 'okay.' I've had better sushi, I don't know if it's a matter of seasoning / sauce expertise, quality or freshness of fish, or what, but... I think you can get better sushi within a ten minutes drive of Kenbu. Your mileage may vary. My real complaint though is the other stuff on the menu - I know, maybe that's a bit unfair for a sushi place, but hey, they're the ones that make the menu, I'm not going to pretend that that food isn't there to order. All of the 'rice plate' style dishes I've got have been disappointing - bland veggies, insufficient sauce to season the rice, and worst of all? Dry meat. I've gotten chicken teriyaki here that has a texture like it just came out of of a freezer-burned premade bag from safeway, and I KNOW that sounds harsh, but I get hung up on the simple fact that I could drunkenly cobble together something a lot fresher and juicier than what they've got on offer. I really wouldn't recommend Kenbu's for their protein+veggie+rice dishes. The ramen is also only okay. Noodles are a bit doughy and under-seasoned, broth is uninspiring basic - not bad, just *basic*, no spice, not much of anything really. Veggies are practically nonexistent. Eggs are just eggs, and they're overcooked... I dunno. I've had stand-out ramen before, and this ain't it. Kenbu's is maybe one step above a ramen packet, mostly because I remember the pork being the one bit that was solid. I don't know what you guys are doing to keep the pork nice and juicy and smokey, but I sure do wish there was a way to get a similar level of quality from your other dishes. (full credit for separating ramen components in takeout / delivery though so things don't get soggy, I do always appreciate when places do that!!) So hey look - if you're at the bar next door, and you want some food real quick, then sure, it's convenient that they're right there... but there is undeniably *much* better food out there, food you'll probably wish you had held out for. Sorry, Kenbu. Maybe I've just had bad luck so far, but it's been a real letdown all three times I've given you guys a shot. So much room for improvement, I hope you're working towards stepping things up a bit, 'cause I'd love to come back when that happens. read more

My sister brought me today and boy am I glad she did! We were lucky enough to find a parking spot in the small Flip Side food cart parking lot. Beware parking could be a problem. On to the food, exceptional Miso butter pork ramen. The broth was incredibly crave worthy- sooo good! The pork tender and flavorful, firm yummy noodles and well simply a wonderful dish. The calamari was perfectly prepared and plentiful. The sushi rice used on the spicy tuna and California rolls was just right. You know how the rice can make it break a roll. Overall excellent! Haven't yet been in person so this is just from the delivery experience. Really impressed with the size of the rolls, the freshness, and the price. We weren't sure how big everything was going to be and ended up with seven rolls (three of them were veggie) and wow, we will definitely have some midnight snacks for later! They also give lots of ginger and wasabi. The vegan roll was really good but I was kind of hoping the veggie rolls would have had a bit more excitement to them. Some pickled veggies to give them some more flavor would have been really good. My husband thought the krab tasted "different" and I'm not sure if that was a good thing or not. First time finding and trying Kenbu Sushi and it was AMAZING! I called ahead and was impressed by the person welcoming us and offering that we just call back if we can't find the food cart which is behind Flipside Bar. We ordered chicken udon noodle soup, ocean roll, Vegas roll and cube tower makizushi. There were some called-in orders ahead of ours, so we got a Kenbu buzzer and had a pleasant wait in the clean and surprisingly quiet space between the bar and food carts. Opening our takeout boxes was like opening gifts, because the food was prepared with such wonderful color and presentation! I'm now a HUGE fan of the cube tower roll with strawberries, avocado and mango sauce compliments to deep fried crunch and cubes of salmon and tuna, but the udon soup and other sushi were phenomenal too.
