JB Tempura Roll

Ordered delivery from here and it never misses. The dynamite temaki wasn't my favorite but everything else was fresh and delicious. Cube tower sounds weird with strawberry in it but it's super good and the crispy rice is delicious

When you asked me where's my go to place for sushi? Kenbu, immediately. #1. It's not a restaurant, it's a food truck located outside the flipside bar, but the amount of times I've gone (about 15+ times) it's NEVER missed!! maybe once.. but like..I was just trying new stuff and it wasn't sushi lol. ANYWAYS, sushi is affordable, big sizes and it taste great every time! I always order the same thing and they are -the Tokyo roll: bomb get it, 10/10 - salmon skin roll: crispy crunchy, recommend as well 10/10 -salmon roll: not only affordable but the size is great and it would fill me up. 10/10 -the ocean roll: my bf gets this, still very solid if you like shrimp tempura. 10/10 -Kenbu panini: if you want some different and crispy, I'd recommend this. Idk I love them, support them. They're a small business and they make delicious food, you can order and go inside the bar and grab a drink and eat inside too!

Service was great, I got a sushi burrito but came back for seconds to have their sashimi platter! The fish was high quality, would recommend to sushi lovers.

Can't say I had any expectations from Kenbu. I do like the fact the ratings are very high...deservedly so I can confirm. I still find it a bit odd that one can get such delicious high quality food at a food cart. The ingenuity of Oregonians...kudos!! ~ PARADISE B-ROTTO - 5/5 Hand's down my favorite item I tried so far. This is what I envisioned a Sushi Burrito tasting like. I've been disappointed before at several other Sushi Burrito fusion concepts. Kenbu knocked it out of the park. It's not big, but it's put together rather well. All the ingredients, the Eel, Salmon, Crab, Avocado, and Cucumber tasted really fresh. The spicy sauce gave it a nice little kick without being overly spicy. ~ SPIDER MAN B-ROTTO - 4/5 My friend's kids love this "B-ROTTO" I thought it was good, but not my favorite. Very well done, the Tempura soft shell crab is cooked to perfection the crab, avocado, cucumber, green leaf tempura crispy with spicy and eel sauce just make this a delight to chow down. ~ PANINI - 4/5 Very interesting. This wasn't on the menu at the time of my visit. My friend had it before and literally asked them to make it. It's not a traditional Panini. There is no bread on this one. It's looks like it could be Keto friendly...but I think there is rice in it. Just don let get cold, it gets soft and rubbery. Engulf when warm...you have been warned. Will most definitely return when I'm in the area.

Sushi was good, not extraordinary given the high yelp ratings. the dressing in the salad was a bit salty and lack depth. i did like the atmosphere and this would be a good place to stop on the way home from the airport. they're fight off the freeway and they open late.

First time trying Kenbu with these lovely ladies and it was delicious! I loved the Lobster Roll and the Crab Avocado Salad!

Sushi is always great here. Service is great! I love the lobster roll and crab and avocado salad. My staples. Always hits the spot and we love hanging out at Flipside. Such a relaxed and fun vibe always.

Lobster roll & Salmon Skin Hand Roll

After seeing several amazing shots and ratings, especially of the Lobster Roll, tried Kenbu sushi at Flipside Bar & Carts. Absolutely incredible plating, fantastic taste profiles & value. Had plenty to eat between that and the salmon skin hand roll with enough to take home for a snack later. Will definitely be back to try more and sip a cold one in the bar area--which was welcome on this hot day.

The best sushi we've had in Portland! Delicious, fresh, friendly and fast service. Indoor and outdoor seating

Spicy crispy chicken ($14)

Kenbu Sushi is a food pod located at Flipside Bar and Carts. You order your food at the pod and can take it inside the bar to eat. Rolled up to Kenbu Sushi after a long Sunday parading around and I got to tell you I was hangry. I ordered: -Spicy crispy chicken ($14) - the chicken was crispy perfection and the sauce used on top had the perfect spice level for me. I cleaned the entire plate. -Tokyo Roll ($13) - Spicy tuna, cucumber, avocado on top with white fish and masago, decent sized roll and the fish tasted great! Service was friendly and the food came out FAST which my hangriness was appreciative of. I will definitely be back when I want some quick and solid sushi!

I really appreciate that you have the opportunity order other things after the Micah is done. It gives you a lot of opportunities to try out other things or double down on things that you really enjoyed. The $20 sake tasting was a big value. The owner had a great recommendation for all the different sockets that they offered with all the sushi. Next time I'm in Portland I'll be sure to come back here

I thought they were going to be fillers but they tasted great and actually put new fish I've never had before on the map for me! Some of my favorites were - kanpachi - kome buri - ama ebi - salmon (I liked it more than the king salmon, maybe I have peasant taste) - toro The omakase was well thought out as you can see and we even enjoyed the miso soup. I think the price tag of $100/person can initially be steep but you can easily spend this much on these nicer orders. I was also worried they might drop the quality during the AYCE portion but it continued to be delicious and service was consistent throughout (there was another group of 13 people so service was a bit slow having to divide time between the rest of the restaurant and them). I highly recommend this place and will for sure come back. Some delicious quality fish and my new favorite if I'm coming hungry!

If you're not downtown, they also have a smaller location on the east side! To start I got the takoyaki, or fried octopus balls. It was crispy on the outside, light and fluffy on the inside, with a tender and chewy piece of octopus, topped with a sweet sauce and fish flakes. Yum!! For my main, I wanted to try one of their broth-less udons and chose one of the specials, the Mentaiko kama-tama Udon--house-made flat udon noodles tossed in and onion oil, bonito, and soy dashi sauce. The noodles are topped with Men-taiko (spicy Tarako caviar), soft egg, tobiko, tempura puffs, green onions, and nori. I also added ikura (as recommended). I've never had flat udon noodles or broth-less udon but I'm forever changed. The minimal broth allows the toppings to be the stars of the show, and here was no exception. The flavors were complex, but balanced, and the variety of textures kept me coming back for another bite. The soy dashi sauce was full of umami and a subtle spicy kick, the fish eggs added pops of saltiness, and the tempura puffs and green onions added some crunch and offset the richness from the other toppings. The house-made noodles also made a huge difference, they were chewy but tender, and soaked up the soy dashi perfectly. I could not recommend Shigezo Izakaya enough!

Menu is filled with rolls, appetizers, and ramens. We tried two ramens and they're some of the best we've had in town! Noodles were well-cooked, both the thin and thick ones. Generous meat portion and it's cooked well. The broths were piping hot and flavorful too. We also tried the Fried Squid Legs and Tsukune. Again, both were delicious and made fresh. Nothing to complain here, we'll definitely be back.

There were large groups of people lining outside but we put our name down on the iPad and got seated within 10 ish mins! Scoreee. This is your sign to be patient cause this Izakaya is so worth the wait! Price point for quality was chefs kiss. You don't really get fresh sushi like this anywhere with reasonable prices! Im taking 5 PCs of otoro sashimi for $25?! Speechless! We outdid ourselves and ordered like 3 rounds of sushi for the three of us and bill came out to $200 ish with drinks! Really easy to do since they had such an extensive menu with just about everything from appetizers, tapas sashimi, hand rolls, nigiri, fried items, sushi ROLLS, ramen/noodles, and skewers! Highlights were definitely the: -otoro (5 pcs ~$25) -salmon medley (salmon belly and 3 other cuts) -scallop nigiri -karaage (5 pcs for $8.99) *pro tip to add their house negi sauce $1 or spicy mayo $0.50 -agedashi tofu (fried tofu) -wagyu beef skewer $8.50 -citrus YTG roll ($15) so refreshing with hamachi (yellowtail), tempura flakes, and a house jalapeño ponzu sauce ! (Apologies for the lack of photos lol. We got too excited since the food kept coming out soo quick we couldn't keep up lol) We also ordered the uni and volcano roll! I might try for the Alaskan roll next time considering it was hard to identify the scallops in the baked roll but still kinda tasty if you're into the warm baked rolls! I was unfortunately really wanting to taste the scallops! Overall we had a great time! Service was nice and attentive! The drinks were really affordable and generous too! My brother in law ordered a chu hi and it came in this huge mug for $14 with an option of refill for ~$7! Such a deal! Arigatou, Hachi!

Momoyama definitely delivers in the flavor department. What I was struck by was not just the freshness of the fish, nor the expert cuts...but the diversity of flavors. Perfect example - the King salmon with truffle knocked my socks off. I am not really a fan of salmon. I find its raw texture to often be a little soft to my taste and the funk of the omega 3s in quality salmon is just... not my bag. The truffle completely transformed the experience for me. I was not prepared for how well the earthy notes of the truffle complimented the King salmon. It made the sushi something to be savored without any of the traditional off-putting (to me) fishy funkiness. Highly recommended. Similarly, the octopus Sunomono was perfectly prepared. Often, octopus can be chewy. Not in this case. Additionally, the sauces and the salad greens complimented the dish and elevated it from traditional "sushi tastes." The bracing acidity made me want to eat more and was a delightful preamble for the rest of the meal. Service was prompt, friendly, and accommodating. We had a large group of eight and they were dutiful in informing us they had included gratuity in the bill so as to avoid double tipping. This small courtesy was not wasted on us. Service was always readily accessible without being intrusive. Orders were executed without defect and questions were answered pleasantly and with expertise. The restaurant has a pleasant and serene serving space. The bracing refrain of the "Irashai!" Greeting was a welcome touch that made me smile. Overall highly recommended. The prices were quite excellent given the quality of food and I would not hesitate a second visit. Sushi well, my friends.

Maybe the idea is to help with any language barrier -- the server spoke fluent English, while often the sushi chefs do not -- but we found him way too attentive. We sat at the bar so we could interact with the sushi chefs. We did talk with a chef, but his advice wasn't very specific. So...despite plenty of suggestions from the server, and some advice from the chef, and a long time perusing and discussing the extensive menu, we still weren't sure what to order. We finally went with a combo and were disappointed to see it served in a boat! That just seemed like a gimmicky, touristy thing, we would have preferred a plate. The fish actually was very good, and so were the salads. A shrimp nigiri was the only misstep, as the shrimp was overcooked. I guess I would return to this place -- hopefully on that server's day off! And make sure my order is not coming on a little boat. And skip the shrimp.
