This review is for Kenji restaurant. For years I have heard great things about the Kenji food truck but never got around to trying it. Today though I went to Kenji's restaurant and all I can say is, "Uh yea, that is really good!" I ordered the pork sliders and they were delicious and filling. Three sliders with cole slaw and their spicy sauce. So good! Great price for the amount of food and taste. I will be going back! read more

Not sure why I haven't visited Kenjis before today, but I will make sure to frequent this spot a lot more! I had the mushroom and tofu tacos along with the fried noodles. The flavors are legit and the pickled vegetables on their tacos n noodles are the bomb, I highly recommend swinging by this truck to mortar spot ! So frigging good! read more

Kenji's is one of my favorite restaurants in town. They provide spot on Hawaiian barbecue for fair prices. I usually pick up around lunch time and they're good at handling a rush & have an easy to use online ordering system. I usually get the barbecue chicken plate with a scoop of mac salad and rice. The portion size is huge for the price and sometimes I can't even finish it all. When I want a special treat I throw a spam musubi on to my order as well. read more

I've been super excited to try out the brick and mortar Kenji's in hope it was just as good as the food truck. And let me tell you, I was NOT disappointed, if anything the brick and mortar quality of food was even better than the food truck. We were greeted by the very friendly person being the counter and he took our order. We sat outside in the cute little courtyard. We were brought our food shortly after being seated and the staff checked on us multiple times. The food was absolutely amazing, cooked perfectly using obviously fresh ingredients. I ordered the BBQ chicken plate and edamame. The edamame was so different than any I've ever had before, they sautéed the pods in a slightly spicy seasoning, and they were SO GOOD. And the rice was cooked perfectly, super sticky and an amazing base for the delicious BBQ chicken sauce. I definitely recommend this location, it's a great place for lunch, super cute interior, great staff, and even better food. read more

It's so easy to order online and then just call from outside the facility and they bring the food directly to you. Their Hawaiian Spam fried rice reminds me of a Oahu makes me miss home. It's consistently always consistently really great food! read more

I'm so glad these guys have a restaurant now!!! Lunch time rush gets a little bit busy, so I recommend ordering ahead. Otherwise food is super awesome, I love their Mac salad. As good as I had remembered! I had their tofu tacos way back years ago from their food truck and loved it! I'm glad they opened up a permanent location. We had of course the tofu tacos and I decided to be a bit bold and go for their fried udon noodles with tofu. I was iffy about having mayo on top but it was delicious! So rich in flavor! There's a fair amount of tables for a such a small place and I love places that are local! Service was great too! And prices weren't bad either. Will be back when I'm in town next! read more

I didn't even know this place was here! The decor inside is adorable and the music is really nice. Super good ambiance. We ordered every taco on the menu, it took about 15 minutes to get out to us but they were all so delicious! The beef and pork ones were definitely our favorites. read more

Super small. Super clean. Super cool interior. Super delicious food. Their tofu taco is amazing. Savory, tangy, soft, crunchy, juicy, perfection. I had one yesterday and I am currently tying to figure out how I can get someone to bring me 3 to work today. This is a great lunch spot and it is super cute. When you walk in there is a food truck right in the restaurant. Bright orange chairs and tables are peppered throughout and even though it is small each feels like an intimate setting. They really managed to give this small space great ambiance. Someone takes your order at the counter and they bring it to you when it is ready. The food is great also. They have a little bit of everything; chicken, beef, tofu, cabbage. I had the fried Udon noodles and they were really great. The meat, I had beef, was teriyaki flavored with pickled ginger, a garlic citrus mayo and cabbage. The noodles were tender and warm soaking up all the sauces. It was a great combination of flavors. The service is friendly and the food comes out quickly even when they are busy as they were today. Over 2 years since I reviewed Kenji's and I have to say they are just as good now as they were then, if not better. Their service is consistently good and their food totally 'Ono! Delicious! Now that they have an actual restaurant, I don't have to stalk them on FB for their truck location to get my Hawaiian fusion taco fix. Everything on their menu is delicious, with my faves being the kahlua pork tacos and their Kenji's chicken salad. If you haven't tried out Kenji's yet, you definitely have to, you'll get delicious food, great service and all for an affordable price. read more

Wow what a cool tucked away spot! The inside is beautiful with a food truck on the inside. The service was helpful. I ordered the pork cubano based on their recommendation and I was far from disappointed. I might even say best Pork Cubano in town.. the atmosphere is quite and small. My wife and I just moved to Reno from Hawaii and we were looking for some Hawaii style cuisine. We stumbled upon Kenji's and met Joe. In addition to the AWESOME food and ambiance of the restaurant, Joe was extremely friendly. Our entire experience there truly felt like being back home in Hawaii. We'll definitely be back along with our Hawaii local friends and family! This place is fantastic!! I actually just got back from Hawaii and this restaurant makes me feel like I'm back on the island. The restaurant decor is cool they have a food truck inside. The food is great. I had the Hawaiian BBQ beef plate which was a lot of food. I also ordered the potstickers and a taco because I wanted to try everything. They have great food. Always good every time. Usually get the bbq beef and chicken with Macaroni salad and rice. Meat always perfectly cooked and whenever you come in you will be welcomed wholesomely and when you see them out and about they're probably the best food truck around. Reno staple! read more

Very late and quick post! Finally had a chance to visit this place back in February or March before the Covid situation. When you're from Hawaii, and you here of all the places with local island style food, this was always one of the names that would pop up. Kenjis did not disappoint. Ok, don't friggin judge me, but, I actually ate here about a half hour after eating lunch. First, we loved the interior of this place with their full sized lunch wagon inside! Talked with pretty much all the staff, some of whom were from back home in Hawaii. They were all so friendly including the two owners who we met. They all had the Aloha Spirit! Food was good too! I believe between all of us, we had the couple Teri Beef plates, Kalua Pig and Cabbage plate and I forget what else. Food was ono and their Mac Salad was Bomb Shakas Cheee Hooo! Oh, and they even carry Hawaiian Sun drinks! Chaaaa fricken Ching!!! Good amount of seats inside and I believe the even had some outdoor seating as well. Anyways, this is a hard one to rate just because it's been awhile since we were there. I think overall I give them a 4.2145832. I've only ever got the spicy tofu stir fry lunch plate and it's SO DELICIOUS and perfect spice level. The Mac salad is to die for. The green salad is also great! The dressing for the salad is tasty and I would buy a bottle of it for home. The service was friendly and very quick! I love how calm it is inside the restaurant and the outdoor patio area is good sized. Will absolutely be eating her again and again! read more

This truck stopped by my office for lunch. The food was soo tasty. I had the potstickers and the udon noodles. since we have a lot of employees, there was a bit of a line, but it went by quickly. I had my food in about 10 min. the best thing is the pricing is on point! it seems lately that the food trucks are getting more expensive lately and the quality/quantity does not match that increase. Kenji's was great food fast, and reasonably priced. I look forward to them coming back to my work. read more

If I could give Kenji's 500 stars, I would! They catered a business lunch for me, and they were some of the most helpful, flexible and friendly folks I have ever worked with. To top it off, their food is INCREDIBLE! I am drooling just thinking about it. They were super easy to work with regarding food allergies and everything arrived hot and perfectly packaged. Joe and Company are the hidden gem in Reno! They are only in open Tuesdays through Fridays. They have a fantastic menu. I enjoy the Chicken Lunch plate with the Mac Salad. Its right off the grill! Word of advice, call in your order as they get busy. read more

First time here and felt transported home to Hawaii! The bbq beef was cooked perfectly with a little bit of char and anyone from Hawaii knows how simple our version of Mac salad is BUT it's impossible to get when eating out and KENJI'S nails it ! The udon was great and I especially like the julienne pickled ginger on top. The owner and staff have such an Ohana spirit so while most of us are not getting home these days I highly recommend coming here for your kamaaina fix. read more

I frequently crave spam musubi and Kenji's is my go to! Not only do they have great musubi but their menu is full of Hawaiian and latin fusion dishes from tacos to plates. Their BBQ chicken is wonderful. It's smokey and crispy on the outside but still juicy on the inside. Their kahlua pork is really good too especially as a slider. And in the winter time they serve japanese style curry bowls which is not only a flavor bomb from that japanese curry, but it will warm you up from the inside out. Like a big bowl of comfort food! I've tried most of their menu items and I've always left full and satisfied. read more

Established in 2011.

Joe & Keliana Najera owners of Kenji's in Reno, Nevada started their business in August of 2011. They both have worked in the corporate food industry for many years and always dreamt of owning their own business. In the summer of 2010, Joe was browsing through a Las Vegas food magazine, and it all came to him! The coolest article of the food truck movement. The colorful vinyl truck wraps, fusion foods, and how the people embraced the whole food truck idea! They knew this is was for them...food on wheels! The menu is a fusion of Hawaiian, Asian, and Latin flair. Keliana is from Oahu, Hawaii and Joe's family is from Central America, so why not mix things together? So after 8 months of building the food truck (from scratch) and practicing recipes on their friends, the truck finally made it's debut August of 2011. They named the food truck "Kenji's" after their oldest son, who was a year old at the time.
