1st and gladly the last time I visit this establishment. This place is a perfect example of food and atmosphere being only part of the equation. Attitude of the employees makes all the difference. The bartender/management leaves a lot to be desired. A lesson in customer service is desperately needed. Rude and inappropriate is being kind. I have never been treated more poorly. Highly offended. I will be SURE to spread the word. If you choose to dine here, be prepared. NOTE TO THE BARTENDER Shelly- A long island iced tea is supposed to look like ICED TEA.....NOT Pepsi or Coke! This should be a stand out and after all these years should be able to turn out great food and offer great service. The place relies more on the location and view. There is no excuse for charging $35 for a half filled lobster roll. And that was with the inexcusable giant leaf of lettuce. read more

This place has a gorgeous view and pretty decent food. The outdoor seating is lovely right on the water. The current manager is AWFUL. They are light staffed still and I can imagine she would not be easy to work for. We have been return customers for a few years now, but her attitude today is more than we can handle... too bad, not too many locations like this one on the Kennebec.... read more

The lobster roll was the worst I've had. It was spoiled. I have had good meals there but not this one.

Ordered the lobster roll. It was $35, which in my opinion is extremely high (everywhere else in the area is currently around $20-$25). While it was quite a bit of lobster, all we could taste was dirty water. No flavor in the sandwich. No sauce. Lot's of other options in the area, would recommend choosing on of them instead. First time here. We were seated on the patio right away - lovely view of the Kennebec River. Our server was polite and our food came out quickly. We ordered the clam & crab sampler and a haddock chip Caesar salad (a daily special). The clam & crab sampler came with a rather large crab cake, fried whole clams, and a small bowl of clam chowder. All were great, though the amount of clams was rather small. The haddock chip salad was good, but the haddock was fried in a very heavy batter, quite the opposite of what we expected on a salad. There was more than a healthy portion - I struggled to find the greens underneath. Both the salad and the fish were good in their own respect, just not two things that seemed to go together. All together it was a good experience, apart from a food pairing that a bit of a miss, and would definitely go back. read more

After all these years this restaurant should be able to offer great service and great food. However, I ordered food to go last night and it was again disappointing. The fish was old and had been "re-fried". The french fries were old and hard. I had asked for cocktail sauce and instead was given ketchup. I've given this place so many chances and now will never eat here again. The prices are outrageous for what you get. read more

Very disappointed. Cost of my drinks was ridiculous. Charged $12.00 for a martini, up charge of $4.00 for Patron, up charge of $3.00 for cointreau, up charge of 0.50 for cranberry juice!! Really? Unbelievable! Food was also pricey. Will definitely not be back. read more

The restaurant was recommended by a local shopkeeper, so we were excited to go. Unfortunately, our experience was less than acceptable. We stood for 15 minutes behind two other couples waiting to be acknowledged by anyone on staff. Not_one_person came over and said anything to any of us! We decided if that's how we'd be welcomed, it was an indication of the service and therefore it wasn't a place we'd want to eat. I waited tables for years, so generally I'm pretty patient and understanding of waitstaff, but this was too much. A ton of improvement needed on the customer service front! read more

My wife and I stopped in for dinner and it was generally poor. I had a haddock Rueben, I admit a questionable choice for me. It was okay but a bit too much of a vinegar thing going on. By the end of the sandwich I felt like I had had my vinegar for the week. My wife had the ribeye sandwich, which was cut too thick and long given how chewy it was. The ribeye had more grizzle then expected and when cut thick it could not be eaten without ripping the meat with hands and teeth. We are not returning. The location is great, the bar side looked good so if drinks are what you want this could be a great place. read more

The worst lobster roll I have ever had, it tasted extremely fishy. When a piece of the lobster fell on my napkin it stained it red, I have never seen this happen with lobster. The side salad had rotten lettuce in it and I had to stop eating it. read more

Service is poor! I came in and it was light out and went out it was pitch black. First of all it took 10 minutes for are waitress to come. Second it took 15 minutes for our drinks to come and from then on our waitress didn't check on us once until our dinner came. The wings were a good appetizer and that took 20 minutes to come while Advil was sizzling in my brothers stomach. Then 30 more minutes after for are food to come when we didn't have any water or other refreshments. The salad I got was ok my father is allergic to dairy and he asked for no cheese and cheese came on it. I also fell in a pothole in the parking lot and hurt my ankle. I'm going with three stars for KT, and I feel a bit bad about it. They folks running the place are as nice as can be. Their lobster stew is to die for. They have a big enough menu to vary your choices when you eat here a lot, which I do because its right across from the hotel I stay in when working in Bath. So why the qualified praise? Two reasons: 1. Beyond the lobster stew (did I mention that I'd step over your dying body to get a bowl of this stew), the food I've had there is good but not great. Certainly not as good as several other options in town. 2. Expensive. Sorry, it just is. I'll be going back to KT often, its reliable and close and that lobster stew is like the Sirens to Ulysses. You can certainly do worse, so if you're in the area, you should give them a try. read more

1 star for their location on the bay and removing the charge on the meal after how bad it was. Under cooked fish, terribly prepared dishes (in general) and WAY over-priced. Total TOURIST TRAP. Four of are there yesterday. Great location with gorgeous view of the river. Two had salmon meals which were great. I had salmon wrap with fries which was great. We ordered a side of Onion rings which were outstanding. Deserts of blueberry pie (served warm !) And gingerbread pudding cake was wonderful. We cleaned all of our dishes. Can you imagine early dinner and nobody was seated. We asked for window and they told us they were reserved. Ate dinner in middle and as we were leaving the window table started to get filled. Everyone had something different all agreed the choice was good. I had the fish and chips and it was as to be expected. The star was the wonderful blueberry pie. Sept 23rd, 2017 We had a fabulous table outside overlooking water. Our server, Laurie, funny, natural, friendly etc. Best server ever! The one star is for quality of food. My broiled haddock was yummy! French fries old and cold, onion rings cold, clam chowder cold. Worst of all was the 22.00 lobster roll made with lobster claw! Lobster claw! A scrumptious lobster roll is made with tail and chopped up a bit. Over priced! You know, if we as consumers are overcharged, at least it should be worth eating. Our 60.00 tab was a waste of money!! So disappointed. We like to try new places and this was a dud!! read more

Nice riverfront setting & very good service! Decent beer selection, which included a local amber. I opted for the lobster roll, which was good, not great, served with fries that were good, not great. My wife went with the soup du jour, butternut bisque, and beet salad, both of which, she loved. Kennebec Tavern is worth trying, if you're staying at the local marina or the Hampton Inn across the street, but I wouldn't go out of my way. read more

Came up here to Bath, Maine on a 2 day vaca and spotted this place as we were driving around the Historic Downtown area. Excellent water view and family casual. We got here at lunch time so we wound up getting sandwiches with fries. My wife ordered the Lobster sandwich and it was crammed with a bountiful portion of lobster meat with very little mayo for 17 beans! She was very satisfied with both the quality and the portion. I had one of the specials of the day- "Thanksgiving in a Sandwich." As if I didnt get enough turkey and fixins at my big sister's yesterday in Braintree, MA. Haha, I dove into this heaping helping of turkey, stuffing and cranberry sauce inside a kaiser roll. Yes sir, I did the elbows extended grip and grab on that bad boy and wolfed it in minutes! What a portion for 10 beans ! Now that's what I am talking about! Great portions at fair prices with a water view with very friendly and speedy service, we gutta winna here! Food is amazing and the view is soothing & peaceful- but the service is slow. It took almost a full 10-15 minutes for me to even get a drink. After getting somewhat frustrated, I had the Maine haddock and it was cooked perfectly. After my food came, I would wait again! Perhaps the only restaurant on the water in Bath, the Kennebec Tavern uses really interesting ingredients in their normal and daily specials menus. The view isn't the greatest but it's the best Bath's got. The food's up there too. The salad was interesting and wonderful. The haddock filet sandwich (not fried) was underwhelming. They are getting 4 stars for the view. Outside dining when weather permits is spectacular. they have a large deck that sits right on the river. The restaurant food is ok, the pub food like burgers and chowders are really very good. They have great sweet potato fries. Service has always been good. The menu doesn't seem to change much but some people like that. Great for an afternoon lunch watching the boats go buy, and they do have full bar and good selection of beer. read more
